Mobile me sync on my mac

I have an established iCal calendar called "On My Mac" that I created years ago.  Now I have a new calendar called "[email protected]" that was created when I signed up for a MobileMe account.  How do I the two to sync so that I just have one calendar?
Thank you,
Hayley

Greetings,
The new MobileMe calendar is the "@me.com" calendar.  Once that calendar is there (it should contain all the items from the On My Mac calendar unless you've been making separate entries in it) you can delete the "On My Mac calendars".  Read this article carefully for more information: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3505
If you have been making additional entries in the "On My Mac" calendar since the appearance of the "@me.com" calendar then follow this article to re-create the "@me.com" calendars with the updated information, and once complete, delete the "On My Mac" calendars to remove the confusion: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4340
Hope that helps.

  • Mobile Accounts - Sync of iCal and Desktop Background Fails

I just set up mobile accounts and mobile home syncing on my computers so network users have a local home rather than just their network home. However it is interesting to me that the desktop picture is independent of the network home. That is to say, each machine has its own desktop picture for any one account.
However iCal does the same thing and thats a problem for me. For example, if I set up iCal to sync with my gmail on on computer, the other computers will not do it. I'm trying to avoid going into every computer and setting up the calendar preferences because that would be a pain in the tail.
    Any clues?

Ditto. I am having the same problem. I don't understand why ~/Library/Application Support/ doesn't sync. There are two entries in the exclusion list, but none of them would prevent Mail, iCal, AddressBook, or iChat from syncing their configuration (.plist) files.
The only reason I bought this Mini Server was to manage these portable home directories (or Mobile Accounts) so that my family could login on any Mac and have their account all setup with everything configured and files available as if they were on their primary Mac.
    Really a bummer!

  • Mobile Me or On my Mac

    Hi,
I have a Mobile Me subscription and I'm wondering if I should be creating my iCal's on Mobile Me or 'On My Mac'? Surely those on my Mac just sync to Mobile Me so I'm a bit confused as to why iCal offers me both options. Please could someone advise the best way to create new calendars?
    Thanks,
    Mickey

Are you sure this is what the error message says?
Your iPad is recognized by iTunes and when selecting sync, does the error message say that your iPad is locked and you must unlock it in order to sync?

  • Syncing "on my mac" mailboxes

Can I sync "on my mac" mailboxes to my iphone without using mobile me?
    Thank you

There is nothing you can sync to the phone via MobileMe that you can't sync via iTunes.
However, Mailboxes don't sync anyhow. Rather, you download messages in two places. Whether what you do in one place affects what happens in the other depends on whether you have it set up as IMAP or POP (and what settings you selected for that). Here's a decent piece on IMAP vs. POP--it applies to any account, not just gmail accounts.

  • Missing Sync or Pocket Mac

I currently have a Motorola v3i but I am returning it as I do not like the phone's address book/calendar functionality. I am considering replacing it with the XDA Mini S, which, as it is a Windows Mobile 2005 device, will not work correctly with iSync.
Therefore, I will be looking at The Missing Sync or Pocket Mac (hoping they are updated to work with WM2005 as per their web sites).
I have used Pocket Mac before to synchronise an iPaq with AB/iCal and quite like the way it integrates with iSync.
I have never used The Missing Sync but quite like it's features.
Have any other contributors to this forum used both of these products? Which would you recommend?

I can only speak of PocketMac Pro, (I’m posting a missing sync message today myself), and can say that it is certainly a love/hate relationship. If you have very basic tasks like syncing to only one program, it can work pretty well, but it falls flat many times. Their support, while prompt (within 24h), typically returns canned messages that, in my experience, never answer my problems and I have to deal with them for several more days. They make a lot of claims as to what their software can do, but definitely believe the ymmv rule on this one. They also seem to lag behind in developing with Apple’s progress on the OS. For example, I had things working pretty well before Tiger, but the syncing services just wreaks havoc on PocketMac Pro.

  • Sync IPhone to Mac Pro

Have app for glooko diabetes log on iphone & would like to sync to my Mac Pro - can this be done and if so how - I have tried everything.  I would like to see the information on my Mac.
    Thanks

You use iTunes to sync an iPhone - not *.Mac Sync* or iSync.
*.Mac Sync* is for syncing between Macs, and iSync is for syncing third-party mobile phones and PDAs.

  • Q abt. "Server Side File Tracking for Mobile Home Sync"

I am following the steps "To optimize the file server for mobile accounts" which are listed on page 157 in Mac OS X Server v10.6 - User Management :
In Server Admin, click the disclosure triangle for the server hosting network home folders for mobile accounts.
If Firewall isn’t listed, select the server, click Settings, click Services, select Firewall, and then click Save.
Select Firewall, click Settings, and then click Services.
Choose the address range for your users’ computers from the “Edit Services for” pop-up menu.
Select “Allow only traffic from ‘ipaddress’ to any of these ports,” select the Allow checkbox for Mobile Account Sync (port 2336), and then click Save.
Select the server, click Settings, and then click General.
Select “Server Side File Tracking for Mobile Home Sync” and then click Save.
    My questions is:
In step 2, I added "Firewall" to the services. I continued with the following steps, but nowhere does it say to press the button "Start Firewall", so as of right now Firewall is listed, but not activated - it's gray and not green. Should I turn on the Firewall Service? In my setup, a cable modem/router is acting Firewall between WAN and LAN (small private home network).

I can't get Server Side File Tracking to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Here's what I've done:
    1. Followed the instructions in "Mac OS X Server v10.6 - User Management" as per the first post in this thread.
    2. Tried turning on the Firewall Service - resulting in clients unable to log in to their network accounts.
    3. In Server Admin, under Firewall>Settings>Services, with 192.168-net selected in the pop-up menu entitled "Editing services for", I then chose "Allow all traffic" (instead of "Allow only traffic to these ports:") as my router acts as a Firewall in my setup. Now users can log in to their network accounts again, but Server Side File Tracking is still not working. How do I know it is not working?
According to infinite vortex in this other thread, the syncing window is supposed to only show this:
On my clients, you can see it scan through the home directory before the file copying/syncing actually starts.

  • Syncing my two Macs... HELP!

    Hello,
I am trying to learn how to keep my Macbook Pro and new iMac synced so both of my computers can be "on the same page" at all times. I want to keep everything synced. I have never used iSync before. Usually I have no problem using Mac software. However, I am not sure how to get this to work. I created a pair using the iSync but I am not sure how to turn on the Blue Tooth. Also, when I start iSync it says there are no devices even though I have set it up several times. It says that it's not connected on the Blue Tooth. I cannot figure out how to connect. I thought this would have to do with the Sharing so I went and turned on ALL of the sharing options for both computers. Is this necessary and will this allow other people to access my computer? When available I only allowed my name and administrators. I don't want to create a security risk, I just want to sync my macs. Please help!

The problem is that iSync is not for syncing Macs. It is for syncing Contacts and Calendars between a single Mac and supported third-party mobile phones and PDAs.
No matter how hard you try, you cannot add a Mac as a device in iSync.
MobileMe will keep your Contacts, Calendars, Emails, Bookmarks etc. in sync across multiple Macs.
The forums for MobileMe are here: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=116
For keeping files in sync have a look at ChronoSync (google it).

  • LR mobile last sync'd 9 hours ago

Doesn't seem to be anything I can do to force it to sync again. Worked great for a bit but now the image count is off and the last 90 or so rejects on mobile never transferred to desktop (Mac). Shame, it was amazing to sort old imports like that so quickly

Yes. Another weird thing is -- I deleted two images from the collection on desktop and they disappeared from mobile, but the image count it still off by 140 or so snd none of the many rejects on mobile, sync'd.  And it still listed 10 am as last sync time.

  • Exclude large files from mobile home sync

Hi, is there a way to exclude files from mobile home sync based on their file size?  For example, I work with many VMs on my MacBook Pro, juggling around between different installation ISOs for various Linux distros and version of Windows.  For the mostpart, these large ISOs (some pushing 4GB in size) are only used on my MacBook and not on my Mac Mini running OS X Lion Server.
I have mobile home sync set up, and it's been working great, until I happen to download a large file.  If I'm not paying attention, my home directory will begin to sync with the server, pushing these large files over the wireless network, soaking up all of the bandwidth.
I understand I can create specific directories to exclude from syncing via Workgroup Manager, and also use various rules with regex in regard to the naming of the files and directories that should also be excluded from sync.  But I'm often juggling around files of various formats between various directories in my development environment, and it would be troublesome to write rules that would encapsulate all of the scenarios.  The most simple solution would be to base it on file size, and I can't seem to find much on this in Workgroup Manager.
Anyone know of a way to exclude files from mobile home sync based on their file size?

Some phones that can't sync natively with OS X might be able to with software such as "The Missing Sync": http://www.markspace.com/ .

  • Hi there, suddenly I can't send email from my iphone. I use mac mail, have deleted it, restored it, done a sync to my mac book, read endless help paged and still get the message *unable to connect to smtp.me.mail . Some one please help!!!

Does anyone know why my mac/me mail would suddenly stop sending mail? Happend a few weeks back since the software update and now won't send a thing. LIke I said I deleted the acount, set it up again, did a sync to my mac book, checked settings again and still it wont send mail. Received fine.
I've looked through the threads but cant find one for me/mac mail on the iphone with same problem

I spoke with Apple Support this morning and they believe anything MobileMe related is due to the conversion over to iCloud that's taking place.
As for other email clients, check with your host to see if settings have changed on their end. I use inmotionhosting.com and over the weekend the updated their outgoing requirements so that a password authentication is now needed.
Hope that helps get some on the right path to resolving their issues!

  • Syncing iphone and mac through iCloud

I have set up icloud on my mac desktop and iphone and for the most part my contacts are syncing back and forth when I go in to make any alterations or add or delete anything. Now for some reason I have duplicate names on my phone but not on my contacts on my mac.... why does this not sync. Also under some of my contacts I will have the cell numbers inputed on my back but will not appear on my iphone, any suggestions how to fix this?

FINALLY SOLVED -- The list that would not sync from my iPhone was one that had my name. I changed the name of the list with my own name to To Do Today. I tried to delete it but it was not possible. I realized that it is a permanent list wih my name. I started another list and it synced fine.
I thought Notes were not syncing to my Mac. I realized that my Mac had a setting whereby the creation date of the note is preserved. If I add to it, the date would stay the same.
However, on my iPhone and iPad, the notes are set to update the date whenever a note is modified. So the modified notes were syncing, but on my devices they appeared with the current date at the top of the list of notes, but on my Mac the change was down with the original date.
