Mobile Network and 3g/2g mode

(1) I've been told to switch my mobile network OFF (with data services ON) to use wifi but that way i cant recieve calls or texts, is there any other way i can use my wifi without switching of mobile network? (also what do all the symbols at the top mean?)
(2) What is network mode and why have i got 3 options saying, 2g, 3g or 2g and 3g?

(1) Yes. and No. This has been explained to you in your other threads, and I am not sure why you are creating new threads on the same subject issue, or are you simply ignoring the information give you in the other threads?
(2) The "why" is because there are two different network bands (2G EDGE and 3G) on your device. You may choose either, or to bounce back and forth between the two as best determined by your network.

Printing over internet from mobile network and windows

Hello. I have two kids living with their mother half of the time. They often needs to print things for their studies. How can I set up my print-server so they can print from their mothers computer. It's a win xp machine with mobile network. I have the printer shared with samba and I'm running an Apache server with a DynDNS IP-adress.

if everything (samba) is configured correctly, the printer should just show up on the network and can be added from the control panel->add printers wizard. you will probably have to install the printer drivers on the client (your kids) computers, which if you don't have the disk are normally available from the manufacturers website.

IPhone 3G stuck on T-Mobile Network and no service!

I am on Rogers in Canada and live on the border with the US and always pickup the US towers. When I pickup AT&T towers, my phone works as usual but every now and then it picks up a t-mobile and when it does, the phone because useless. Now it could be that Apple blocks ALL non AT&T networks but now they didn't think about all those Canadians or International users that would visit the US and cannot force their phone any network.
Problem is, when I go to the Carrier option in Settings, it either keeps searching and then crashes and reboots or gives an error message "Unable to load network list"
Calling Rogers did nothing because they mentioned that a few customers had this problem and the only thing they can do is block roaming on my phone which doesn't fly with me because I travel there quite frequently.
Network bars go up and down until it crashes and reboots again. Very weird.
I can't believe that Apple did not think of this one.
BTW, its still happening after the 2.02 update. Although I did notice a huge improvement in reception after the update on the Rogers Network.

Yes, that kind of tallies with my experience ... after 3 days of useless iPhone 3G (BTW, killing 3G on the phone and relying on acquiring AT&T 2G didn't help, it still locked onto T-Mobile with the result that it was draining battery and rebooting frequently!), I ended up visiting the local Apple Store.
Although the visit was not to resolve the iPhone problem, whilst there I happened to cycle the phone and due to the store having a local AT&T cell, the strength of the local signal meant that I finally re-acquired a AT&T 3G signal ... once locked on again the phone was fine for the next day.
Nett outcome of this is that I would prefer to lay most of the blame for this debacle on the poor state of 3G support both by AT&T (and US carriers in general), maybe exacerbated in my case by two related events (the local DNC in Denver, which saturated local AT&T cells including 3G and a proliferation of v2.0.0 and v2.0.1 firmwares on iPhones in town, which dragged cell coverage into the weeds).
It would be nice for future sanity if AT&T and T-Mobile could at least resolve the ability to acquire/release the iPhone gracefully, otherwise I'll be very sceptical of travelling back to the US with only my iPhone, as a self-employeed consultant I can't afford to be out of touch for three days again!

If you have set this phone up, then there would not necessarily be a solution here until you have been verify with the provider that everything is provisioned correctly on their end. Since the 3G comes from your cellular provider, if the settings are correct on the phone, then you should work with the carrier next.

Mobile Network out of Range

My phone stopped working randomly a couple of days ago. I cant send or receive texts or calls. In the corner where the signal is, changed from edge/GPRS to GMS now it's just constantly on SOS. I've tried going into mobile network options and switching network and then switching back and it's saying that my mobile network is out of range? I've also tried doing a battery pull and doing a security wipe which just deleted all my contacts I've been in contact with my mobile network and they told me try the SIM in another phone, and that worked so it's definitely a problem with the phone rather than the network. Any idea how I can fix this?

And they stopped helping you at this point? That feels like a terrible fob off to me. You see, you pay them for 100% of your service and 100% of your formal support. Right now, they seem to be delivering neither to you...you should be very upset (with them) about that. If you continue to pursue with them, they will have the power to escalate into RIM for enhanced support to you, and at no charge to you...that's their responsibility indeed, to stay with the issue from their paying customer until the issue is resolved one way or another.

Unable to connect to Mobile Network

Turned my blackberry off last night in the theater and now I can't connect to the mobile network - and therefore can't do anything with my blackberry. I have tried to restore network connections, but it tells me that there are no available networks due to radio being off??? How do I turn the radio back on???

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Between the two posts your are not registered on the network and your radio signal at -256 is extremely weak.
I would reboot see if your -dbm level is -100 or less and reregister the phone.
If it doesn't reregister I would make sure all your data is backed up with Desktop Manager, perform a security wipe and return the phone to the carrier.
Make sure you get a new unit as opposed to a field replacement unit or a refurbished phone. You are currently holding what will be someone else's refurbished phone, OK?

GPS Inaccuracy With Mobile Network Enabled

I have a BB AT&T Passport. The GPS location with Mobile Network enabled is .25 - .5 mi off. If I disable Mobile Network and just use WiFi then my GPS Location is within 50 - 100 ft. Why is there such a disparity location with AT&T LTE? I have the latest software update from AT&T. Can we get this problem fixed AT&T?

Mobile network automatically starting when manually turned off

I am travelling and have turned off Mobile Network and data services (i.e., no roaming plan). Somehow the phone started to dial phone number (pocket dial?) and Mobile Network services automatically activated (i.e., Z10 decided to turn Mobile Neywork on). I turn this off on purpose and need the Mobile Network to stay off to avoid extreme charges from the phone company. The same issue happened on my last international trip and I had a large charge that, until this point, I was unable to explain. I use OS 10.2 .
Any guidance on how to keep the Mobile Network setting at "off" are appreciated.

i update my Arc s to android 4.0 last night and all seemed to go well, until i tried using the Mobile network and nothing. i`m not using wifi...
i have tried getting the settings from o2 using text 2020 and just returns saying there's a problem. has any1 had this problem?

Did you finish running the setup wizard on boot up? Are you on O2 PAYG or monthly? I am on o2 monthly and didnt have any issue. On the wizard selected mobile network as well and in a moment a pop up would show up asking which network/monthly/payg options.

Please create quicker access to the mobile network radio toggle. When putting my phone I'm a locker or entering somewhere with poor coverage, my battery kills itself trying to find a signal. It would be much easier if a user could swipe down (to pull the rotation lock, alarm, settings, etc) and have one of the option be airplane mode or at least mobile network, like the older OS had. Thank you!

There is a setting for Airplane Mode, it is located under Settings>Network Connections. If you use this feature it will save on the battery life so your BlackBerry Z10 doesn't looking for any network connections.
