Mobile network state "connecting" but never connects...help please?

Hi,
When I try to turn on 3G data on my Fascinate, it never connects. Under settings/about phone/mobile network state it just says "connecting" but never connects, and the "3G" icon never appears in the top right corner of the phone. I've tried toggling the airplane mode, turning off, then turning back on and toggling airplane mode off, but it didn't work.
I was wondering why I haven't received the 2.3 OTA update yet, and I guess it's because my data is not working.
Any suggestions?
thanks for any help you can give!

Not to make it sound simplistic, but have you pulled the battery out? Shut off phone, pull the battery for 30 seconds, put the battery back in, and then turn it on.

        ETea,
Sorry to hear about the trouble with Wi-Fi. Let's get you connecting again. Are other Wi-Fi capable devices able to connect without issue? Go to Settings and touch Wi-Fi. Touch your network and select "Forget." Touch "Search" on the bottom. Once the phone detects the network again, touch the network, enter your password and select connect. Let us know if you get connected.

  • FaceTime connecting but never connects

My facetime says its connecting but never connects.I already reset the settings on my phone.

There have been some connection issues reported over the last couple of days. Despite the Apple status page reporting no problems, many report problems in both iOS 6 & 7, while some say that iOS 7 seems to work. It is unknown if Apple is addressing this or not.

  • My iPod has been connecting to the Wifi connection at home oddly. It ran on and off, so I decided to restore it and see if it would fix. Instead, it stopped working altogether. It shows the bars when I find my connection, but never connects. Help?

A message pops up saying no connection was found when boot up any internet-based app. It shows the bars and everything. We have laptops and iPhones at home as well, and they're running the web fine. (Well, one laptop is perfectly fine; the others are not, but that's to be figured out.)
    I have tried:
    *rebooting the iPod
*restoring it (I've done it twice; once using a backup of the previous backup, and the other completely new)
*turning the wifi on and off
    *doing the "forget this network"
    *clearing history/everything then rebooting
I've pretty much done all I can. I have an appointment in two days, but I'm trying to find an answer. My iPod is no longer in warrenty (it's merely of how long I've had it, I never jailbroke) and I believe it costs to get a new one. I don't have the money to purchase a replacement, and I'm sure my parents wouldn't be pleased. My iPod is about a year and a half old. I used it very frequently, and would charge it every night. I used the Wifi all the time.
At a recent Apple visit, the associate told me my iPod had a corrupted software and to restore. I did restore, but mentioned above: I did it when my Wifi was being odd and then backed up to a previous saved backup of the iPod. The next night, I completely restored it and made a new "iPod profile" thing instead of going for a backup file.
    Any ideas?

If i understand what you are saying then you are seeing the WiFi indicator after connecting but Apps are saying that they are not connected to the internet?
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be to restart your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • FaceTime says connecting but never connects on my iPhone 5.

I have iPhone 5 and all other members on plan have iPhone4. I still cannot connect to FaceTime with anyone except my iTouch (under a different Apple ID) and have done ALL of the updates, trouble shooting, and followed every step to anything related to FaceTime the Apple Community suggested. I am at a loss as to what the problem could be...it says it is connecting but it never does and I have to end the call to get it to stop. They all can connect and FaceTime to each other but not to me or from me. I am running the latest iOS system, latest update on all Apps, checked restrictions, push notifications, you name it. Is any one else having this same issue after all the fix suggestions?? Help please. The closet Apple store is 63 miles from where I live. Thank you.
