Mobile Safari, Airprint font size

If I use Safari on an iPad, and, Airprint to a Brother MFC-J6710DW, the font size is huge. Let's take google as an example, if I search for something and get the usual 10 results, and, i print that page from mobile Safari via Airprint to my printer, it coems out on THREE pages. That's pretty big text.
Are all Airprint printers this way, i.e., this is just the way Airprint works? Or, is it perhaps something with my printer?

I have not seen this.  How is this printer coccented?  What iOS Version are you running?  Also, just to be sure, you have checked the Brother site and hae the latest FW on your printer?
Can you post a link to a web page that shows a huge font when printed, but not on screen?

  • Need to Increase Font Size..

Poor Eyesight. (Diabetes) I need a way to INCREASE the Font size and change Type of ALL DESKTOP Headers, dropdown menues and informational text WITHIN OSX.
Just like the "APPEARENCE TAB" in "WINDOWS DISPLAY PROPERTIES"
Is there any hope for ME? Third Party Add-on? Can't find anything in OSX that really helps. Even Fonts set to 16 don't do much.
Can I change to "Areil Bold?" ANY Suggestions welcome. Thanks...:)

This is a sad topic. Just this week I scoured the internet seeking an invention to change OSX toolbar font size (as well as Safari Bookmarks font size) and the news is not good. It turns out that those fonts especially are hardwired and cannot be changed. There is a discussion that goes all the way back to Panther about this, and every year people hope for a fix (Resolution Independence it's called).
Right here in Apple discussions a gentleman put a hack in via Terminal. It is specifically for the 27" displays. I tried it on my 13" and yes the font changes to the larger - but then other display items disappear to make room. It is like folds or pleats appear to make up the difference, and some stuff got lost in the "wrinkles". The guy with the 27" machine was happy with his choice, and said he just "lives with" the accompanying flaws. I feel that on the high-res 27" machines there must be a lot less of the aforementioned "side effects" to deal with. See here -

Try at your own risk, since Terminal operations are highly technical. I performed a clean install of OSX after I rejected the results of my own experiment. Bottom line is that more than a few people have sold or returned their Macs over this issue not because of sour grapes, but because they simply cannot read the toolbar, whereas on their PCs they always had a remedy. The issue is actually so fundamental that no one suspects a problem until they start using their new machine for the first time and cannot locate an adjusting app.

  • Leopard Font Sizes

Since getting my new MacBook with Leopard, in replacing my PowerBook, I find that both the system fonts and dashboard text fonts are too small to read easily . I have increased the Safari minimum font size ad use Command + to increase fonts in mail and sch things, but am nearly unable to see the text in the Translator and Mac Tip widgets. Can you help me?

  • How to change font size in Safari?

Why is it when I set my fonts inside Safari to say, 18 for standard and 18 for fixed. It doesn't display that way. I keep getting the tiny font that I've always used.

The font size you specify in the Preferences (18 for standard) will be used only if the font size is not specified by the web page. Nowadays most of webpages (including this Discussions) specify fonts and sizes to use in the CSS file, and the setting in the Preferences will be ignored.
As andyBall writes, you can set the minimum size of fonts in Safari-Preferences-Advanced. But the results may not satisfy you (wrong line spacings etc.).
In the same Preferences, you can specify your own CSS file, as explained in the following post by Tom Gewecke:
Re: Setting default font size doesn't stick
But here again, line spacings etc. are not adjusted correctly. To write a detailed personal CSS file by yourself is very tedious, if not impossible.
As you might know, you can enlarge the fonts (and spacings) by hitting "command +" (press-hold the command key and hit the + key, or the = key; it seems you need not to press the shift key). I will be very pleased if someone tells me how to make this "enlarged" state the default.

  • Font size of text too big on a mobile... why ?

Hello, I use Muse CC 2014.
    I have the following problem:
When I create a wide text area, and I write a few lines of text, when I look at the result on a mobile device (with Chrome for example, on Samsung Galaxy S4), in landscape mode all goes well, but in portrait mode, the text size becomes BIGGER !
Therefore not possible to create a correct layout ...
How to make the text size remains the same in portrait or landscape mode on a mobile device?
    Thank you very much
    Robin Weber

    znico,
I am also having this same problem and I have a thread on it here [Font size larger than it should be in mobile version]. It also happens on my S4 on Chrome. It has been an ongoing issue on the sites I design where I'll put the text box inside of a colored box for instance and in other devices the text fits inside the box but in Chrome/S4 the text extends beyond the box. I tried viewing it in Firefox for Android and the text seems to render as it should. I'm guessing it has something to do with the way the S4 or Chrome is rendering the text. I have not had the time to check but I'm also wondering if it has anything to do with fonts from TypeKit as opposed to web safe fonts. What font type are you using in your design?

  • Minimum Font Size not working in Safari 4.0.4

Setting the minimum font size in Safari is ineffectual. Also, there seems to be another problem: the right and left sides of the search box on the right on this page are doubled and look like this: (( )). Are there any solutions to fix these? Thanks.

This is a know issue that the hosts know. This problem has been happening for many months. Apple doesn't own the program that makes this forum happen. So it's not an easy fix for the host to do. Maybe on day they get the maker of the forum program to fix it. The search box still works.

  • Font size difference between Dreamweaver, view in Safari and on friend's PC

In Dreamweaver CS3, I have a table with two cells containing type. In order to get the type to not appear too large, I need to size the type down to 6pt size on screen in Dreamweaver, then it appears like about 10pt normal size text in my Safari browser on a Mac and then it appears too small, but readable and larger than what I am seeing in Dreamweaver on a friend's PC through AOL. This mystifies me as it is only happening on this one page. When I leave the paragraph text at normal size in this table cell it becomes way too large when viewed in the Safari browser, so what I am doing is sizing it down to 40% (miniscule) in dreamweaver so it will come up in the browser as normal paragraph text size.
Never had this happen before. Any Ideas?
    TIA,
    Ken

I would strip this site back to basics by removing all font sizes in your CSS.
    Then avoid %.
Re-build font sizes just using px.
Don't mix units (ems, % etc) until you have a consistent baseline and reason for doing so..
Pt is solid and reliable on paper. Px is solid and reliable on screen.

  • Font size when printing from Safari to HP Photosmart 6520 printer

I just bought a Macbook Pro 13 inch, running OSX 10.9.5.  When I try to print something from within a Safari web page to my HP PhotoSmart 6520 printer, the font is huge. Does anyone know how to adjust the font size for use with Safari. The font size seems to be ok when I print from Pages, for example. So I m thinking the issue may be limited to printing from Safari.

No one has replied yet and HP has never played well with Apple, so the best I can do right now is to point out a site that has proven very helpful to many users wanting or needing to read up on color management and printing:

  • Different font sizes in Explorer and Safari

Hi there, before I go completely nuts can someone give me a
hand with figuring out how I can get my plain old body text to
display at the same size in both Explorer and Safari.
I am using a Mac myself, but when entering text at size 1, it
is displaying larger in Explorer (at about the size I want) and
very small in Safari (too small to be easily readable). I have done
some research and thought cascading style sheets might be the way
to go but I have also read that the some text problems occur when
    using cascading style sheets.
I haven't bothered with them previously as there hasn't been
that much text to bother with them.
Has anyone got any tips, or has used CSS to fix this problem?
    Regards,
    Elle V
p.s. if you are using a mac, you can check out what I mean by
    viewing www.homestylefinance.com.au/company.html in both browsers.
I would be interested in hearing from a PC user to see if they are
    seeing the same thing.

You can define your text sizes in many different ways:
    points, pixels, em,
    percentages, etc.
I personally use a percentage to define my base font-size in
    my style sheet,
and then declare different text sizes in em's for different
    selectors. I'd
stay away from points (which it sounds like you're using them
    - due to the
fact that cross-browser display varies). I'd also stay away
    from pixels,
because IE users can not resize their browser text size.
My personal suggestion would be to use em's to declare your
    font sizes. Here
is an example of something you could put in your CSS document
    (which you'll
    want to start using):
    body { font-size: 100%; }
    .text1 { font-size: .75em }
    HTH, take care.

  • Font size in yahoo mail has suddenly shrunk, not the emails but inbox list etc. Only in Firefox, not Safari etc. How can I correct this

When I opened Yahoo mail from Firefox the font size suddenly shrunk and I can hardly read it. Font size in emails not affected. Inbox, sent list etc are all much smaller.
    No problem when using Safari.
I note from internet forums that others have had this problem.

I have same problem like you!
This problem comes from suck Hardware accelerate of Firefox5.0
Let's turn off Hardware accelerate in browser
Option>Advanced> Tab General> Unchecked use hardware accelerate when available>OK
    After that closing Firefox

  • Font size in Safari changing randomly...

I've just started using my new macbook pro 13", and Im noticing something very strange... As Im browsing in Safari (3.2.3), the font size will randomly change! For example, I could be browsing the discussion forums here, and all of a sudden all the text on the page will re-render into a tiny size, or sometimes a massive size. Closing the window and re-opening fixes it temporarily, but it keeps happening!
I have checked all the appearance settings in safari as well as resolution settings in the System Preferences, but no luck.
This has never happened for me before... any ideas?
    Thanks!

Just did a more detailed search and found this already answered. New trackpad, makes sense.
    Thanks

  • How to increase fonts size in safari permanently ?

My 24" iMac has a huger screen. However, this is of no benefits bcos whenever I launch Safari, the fonts & wordings are so small !!
I can increase it by clicking VIEW > MAKE TEXT BIGGER.
The problem is after I quit Safari & launch Safari the next time round, the fonts are back to the super small wordings. And I have to repeat clicking VIEW > MAKE TEXT BIGGER again !!
Would appreciate if someone here can teach me how to set the default size to a big fonts size ?
    Thanks

Thanks Andrew, that is exactly what I wanted.
But if I increased, sometimes the words overlapped each other. How to avoid that ?
What is the difference between the font size settings in
Safari > Preferences > Advance > "Never use font sizes smaller than"
as against the two font size settings in here:
Safari > Appearance > "Standard Font" and "Fixed Width Font" ?
    Thanks

  • Setting default font size in Safari

Hi. I like to set my font size in Safari to one level below the default. I usually do this everytime I open up a Safari window and hit Command+Minus or go to View > make text smaller. Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way I could set this to default so I did not have to do it everytime I launched Safari?

    mrurmil --
You can go into the main Safari Menu, (upper left of top Menu)
    Go to Preferences>Advanced
and then lower the size font designated in
"Never use font sizes smaller than _"
Mine's set to 9 which is pretty small,
but I like it better. I believe it was set to 11 or 12 natively.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I change font size on the safari tool bar

How do I change font size on the safari tool bar

    You can't in Safari.
However you CAN with Firefox and the add-on called Theme Font & Size Changer, also include NoSquint and set a global web page zoom level a bit higher, say 150%.
NoSquint has buttons on the tool bar to increase/decrease each websites size AND IT REMEMBERS IT!
Under the Tools Menu > Customize you can add more toolbars as well, but they have to have something in it of course.
(note: the green with yellow type is a person you can add from thousands of choices, it's not the default look of Firefox)
So this setup, although it may appear large here compared to Safari, is fine on my 17" when sitting back about 3-4 feet, takes up about 1/6th of the screen, so I'm not hunched up close, and I have a lot of screen real estate to play with anyway.
