Mobile Safari and .gifs ?

Hello community,
was there a time when mobile Safari could actually play back animated gifs properly?
Gif animations perform slow like a slide show or worse.
My iOS history: 5.1.1 to 6.0.1

Even after some time for loading went by, gifs are still not played back with normal speed.
The more gifs are visible at once the slower they all play. If I zoom in on a gif it runs faster but still not "desktop speed". Where my desktop plays immediately the iPad loads frame by frame first and so it looks like the gif is accelerating in the beginning but it never reaches normal speed. The scroll response gets choppy and depending on gif fill rate of the screen, parts of the webpage will render again.
I encounter these problems everywhere where there are gifs e.g. theverge.com comment sections or on GIF tumblrs.
Maybe it's the scaling algorithm of safari which demands too much video memory due to the "retina" display? I don't know.

Mobile safari and Iframe within widget

If a site is fully supported in mobile safari on the ipad, will it be fully supported via as an iframe in the ibook? I thought the two were one in the same.
I have a situation where I have an html 5 site called within an iframe of a widget and it does not work. Loads the iframe then nothing. The widget loads fine on the desktop and in preview in I book author but on the ipad it does not complain, just does not show up. In mobile safari, it also shows and works just fine. Any ideas?

Transform Origin is forced to 0,0 when using 'Responsive Scaling' in mobile Safari and Chrome

When I create, say, a 3D carousel I naturally want my transform origin to be in the centre (so it rotates on the Y axis in a circular motion).
However when I check 'Responsive Scaling' in EA I'm finding that the Chrome and Safari browsers on my Nexus and iPads are forcing either the Stage's or the wrapper container's transform origin to 0,0 which, whilst this can create an interesting effect, is not what I want. I can force it to be 50%, 50% momentarily but it's quickly reset to 0, 0.
Is this a bug in EA or mobile webkit browsers?

Slight update - with a caveat that I am not a developer!
"inspecting element" in chrome I noticed that the webkit-transform-origin property of the offending elements had been overridden by a transform-origin property (see screenshot below)
this new transform-origin is set to 50%, 50% rather than the values of the webkit-transform-origin (86%, 9%).
looking at exactly the same page in firefox, the coordinates for transform-origin are correct and hence works correctly
looking at caniuse for transforms - http://caniuse.com/#search=transf
It appears that Chrome has moved from transforms with prefix -webkit to straight transform with the latest update to version 36.
I think that there is a bug in the code that generates the css on the fly depending on the browser that is viewing the page.
For some reason, if the browser is chrome, 2 versions of the css need to be generated (with and without -webkit for chrome versions before and after version 36), unfortunately for version 36, the code is generating the default values of 50%, 50% rather than the whatever the origin was set to!
fix is needed ASAP please Adobe!

Mobile Safari and RSS feeds

Sorry if this has already been discussed - I haven't found anything on it yet.
I have a few RSS feeds bookmarked on my iPhone. Whenever I click on an article I'm unable to use the back button to return to the main feed page. I always have to result to opening up the bookmark menu and hitting the main page that way.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is this a problem for everyone?

Fixed div in Mobile Safari

Does any one know of a way to created floating div elements for mobile safari. Safari on the desktop of course supports this, but mobile safari and UIWebView do not seem to. Work arounds and suggestions welcome.

Bookmarks bar and tab controls not working in mobile Safari on iPad2

The bookmarks bar as well as tab controls in Mobile Safari on iPad 2 are not clickable. Only the topmost nav buttons work. This persists through reboots w/Safari closed via mem manager, and a system restore. What do?

or having done a reset (unless that is what you mean by a reboot)

That is obviously exactly what I meant. How does one reboot an iPad without "resetting" it? How does one do a system restore without "resetting" it?

Mobile Safari crashes on launch on both my iPad and iPhone.

Since yesterday, Mobile Safari on my iPad AND my iPhone crashes upon launch. If I try to access Safari from settings, the devices hang indefinitely. I have tried restoring from a known good backup, but the problem persists. Does anyone have ANY idea what is going on?
By the way, Mercury Browser works absolutely fine; this is not an internet access issue.

Try resetting Safari. Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and data.

Yeah, me too here.
I Had to force-quit Safari 4.0 for the first time also, with the spinning pizza ball.
It loaded at first and hic-upped a little first then I just got the spinner.
That page is dangerous, some bad coding there, for sure.
I have been to many other pages, with flash and many with animated gif's and have had no problems what so ever.
And, Otherwise, the new Safari and that Java Release 9 has been behaving fine for me.

Why are Links and forms not working in mobile safari?

Why do links and forms on the site I am designing not work in mobile safari? They work fine in desktop browsers.
The controls change state when focused, so it's not that they're being blocked, they simply don't activate. Behavior tested and observed on iPad running iOS 6.1.2 and iPhone running iOS 7.0.2.

I had the same problem but I just found a solution. Siri mistakenly suggests to enable reminders (which you should), but the setting that enables all these, is under System Services (on the bottom of the page) -> Location Based Alerts. I had deactivated it alleviate battery problems and had forgotten about it. Hope this helps!

SVG and Mobile Safari?

Does anyone have the display of SVG graphics working on their iPhone? Please tell us how you accomplished this!?
I'd LOVE to be able to check on my servers etc with mobile Safari. But, the graphics my stats package displays are all in SVG format.
So much for a full-featured internet experience. C'mon Apple!

This happens each and every time, on different Wifi networks, in different locations. On the other hand, I don't ever encounter this problem when I tether my laptop to my mobile phone's 3g/2g network using Personal Hotspot. How do I fix this?

Jpg and gif files not showing up on recipient's email

When I attach photos on an email sent from whichever email address through my Mail Application (the one that comes with all Mac OS), sometimes people using AOL or other mail servers don't even see the files. Usually, I think all the problems are with jpg, pdf, and gif files and not .doc files or any text files. they seem to see the text files without any problems. So then Im forced to go to my gmail through safari and attach one by one. Honestly, I find the click and drag en masse of the files I want as attachments much easier, but I want to know how and what is the reason that some servers continuously cannot see my files. Sometimes they see the files as I attach them, meaning as photos on the actual email. And they get confused and don't know how to download them because they say that on the email application they use (gmail for example) there is nowhere where it says download attachments. What is going on and what can I do on my mail application to change this. its really frustrating because my work makes me email lots of photos and sometimes this problem is extremely cumbersome and annoying

Some email readers have trouble with enclosures (particularly graphics) from within an email that is formatted as Rich Text. If you format your mail as Plain Text (see the Format menu) then I expect they will see the enclosures.
