Mobile Safari on iPhone 3GS automatically resizes images to 1280x800

Hi,
I'm a new iPhone user and thus have had no prior experience. However, I've noticed that when you try to open a large image in Safari running on my iPhone 3GS, it appears to automatically shrink the image to 1280x800.
An example:

This image is 2560x1600, yet when I open it on Safari on my iPhone, it registers as a 1280x800 image. Note that it is not just this particular server, but every server I've tried.
Is this normal? Has anyone else noticed this? A few Google and forum searches seem to have not turned up anything.

I am slightly skeptical, since it all happened at once, and all the other browser apps seem to work. Plus, at exactly the same time, I started having app downloading issues.
My son, who has exact same phone, bought at exactly the same time, but without ios5 / cloud download has no issues at all.
This phone version is still being sold, so Apple or whatever caused the issue, should support it still.
Any answers on the horizon to fix this?

My Iphone 3GS is having some issues that when i'm charging it, it takes too much time like 4-5 hours(i'll charge it from 45% to 100% becase it automatically shutsdown when reached 40-50% battery life), then when i'm using it, it only last 2hours. Then if the problem is the battery, when i'm playing games or taking photos it only shuts off at 40-50% battery life? but if i'm not using it, it can still last until 40% battery? Weird Someone help me please? I can't even see the warning of 20% or 10% battery life remaining

Embedding quicktime files to be viewed in mobile safari on iphone

I'm trying to place some quicktime files i've made on my site so that they're viewable on my iphone's mobile safari browser. I can't seem to get it to work, anyone else have any luck?
Currently i've exported it as .mov, and .m4v several different ways including using QTPro, FCP, and compressor and always selecting the iPhone option.
Is there a certain type of html the iphone needs to have the video embedded with in order to read it on the iphone?
My current result is either the phone says "can't download file" or "quicktime can't play file"

i'm not sure the iphone supports .mov files. try exporting as a .mp4 (MPEG-4).

Docked iPhone 3GS automatically starts or resumes playing/HOW TO STOP

Last year, I brought my iPhone 3GS to an Apple store and presented the problem of docking the iPhone and having the iPod on the iPhone resume or play from the beginning whatever song had last been played on the iPod. I needed to stop that behavior. One of the tech people showed me how to do that (something about hitting HOME button and power on/off button of phone simultaneously or one after the other or something). I've forgotten how to do this! There must be somebody on this forum who knows this secret formula.
It's highly annoying to dock the phone in my car and then have the iPod on the iPhone just automatically start playing whatever was last being played. I do not want it to automatically play anything when docked. Right now, the only way I can sort of do this is to switch to a podcast and force the podcast all the way to the end of the episode and then hit DONE. The way that tech showed me was much more efficient and elegant.
Anybody know how to do this?

The checkmark is used to include or exclude the checked item in the specified action. For example, only songs with a checkmark are imported when you click Import. Or only checked songs are considered by Genius, or synced to a device. However, checking songs does not exclude them from shuffling.

Wallpaper on iPhone 3GS - Automatic scroll through Photo Library?

On my MB I have set as Screen Saver a set of photos that I have installed in System Preferences/Desktop & Screen Saver. I have set the whole thing to toggle through the different photos in the Screen Saver folder.
Now I have synced iPhone to import that Screen Saver folder. I have found no way to have iPhone toggle (automatically as in the MB) through the photos.
Is it possible? How?

Mail is automatically resizing images

When attaching an image to mail it is automatically being resized to approx. 160 kb no matter what size the image really is. I can't seem to find any preferences in Mail that apply and Aperture export is set at Original size JPEG. Any clues? Recently upgraded to Leopard and iLife 08'.

Are the photos also being resized automatically in dimension? You should be getting an window with the option for picking the size of the image to send, small, medium, large and actual size. Are you getting that window when you select the photo and click on the email button? Also at the bottom of the email window will be a menu button on the lower right with the size options once the photo is in the email.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Restricting Safari on iPhone 3GS

I will shortly be acquiring a 4S and therefore will be giving my existing 3GS to my son, he is 8 years of age.
I realise Safari can be restricited in its entirity, this is something I do not want as I would like my son to be able to surf the net but with safe guards in place.
Is there any way I can do this before I give him the iPhone on Friday ?

Site that automatically resizes images based on browser size

Hi. I need to make a site that automatically adjusts the size of the images based on the browser size, but keeps the image quality. Does anyone know how to do this without using flash?

first time accessing website get screen size info using javascript and then redirect to next page and store screen size info into session. then, when requesting pictures from browser use custom servlet, mapped to image extension, that renders images to different resolution.

Fireworks CS5 "automatically" resizes images to minuscule dimensions

I am having an odd issue in working with Fireworks PNGs from one of my subject matter experts. We have been using Fireworks since around 2000 so it's nothing new to us and it's been used in tens of thousands of images (we deliver eLearning to 70,000 people per year in 130 countries). We have 10 users and have been using it over a series of Windows machines over the years.
We use CS5 with Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks and typically it all runs very smoothly. But a few months ago I would open one of her PNGs (layered, etc) and whether I made any changes or not when I re-open it it has been resampled to very small dimensions. For example, a 600 by 400 pixel image will display as 16 by 15 pixels.
This would happen with any of her images on several machines at work (*** CS5) and my home machine (CS5.5).
We had IT remove and then reinstall Fireworks CS5 on her machine and all was fine for two months. Now this weird thing is happening again. It must be some local configuration file that is getting altered. I am at my wit's end trying to solve this and the only workaround I have is to open her files in Photoshop which works fine (but is not ideal since only two MMDs have PS and we need to edit callouts done in Fireworks).
To recap - I open one of her images, close it, and reopen it and it resamples to very small and unsuable dimensions.
Has anyone ever seen this odd behavior?
Is there a config file I can delete and let the system rebuild? (I remember some flash issue, years ago, that was fixed like that).

Excellent questions! Thanks for your left-field ideas - this is a left-field issue!
They seem to resize when closed but even if they are simply opened and closed without any changes and thus without actually saving. They do seem to always go down to the same size (not in proportion) and would be too small even as thumbnails (that was a good thought though).
It may be indirectly due to Fireworks and be some combination of the operating system and/or other applications she may have installed such as Snag-It because a full uninstallation and installation of Fireworks takes care of the issue. It has happened twice and here's hoping it does not happen again.
Saving the files as new files does not seem to help - she'll take her screenshots, paste them into Fireworks and then save the file to a remote server. I can open them from the server or take a copy locally, both result in the miniscule image after closing them. But only with her files. We have images from four other SMEs that don't do this "thing".
If it happens again, I will more carefully observe the particulars you asked about.

Iphone 3Gs crashed and image frozen

While playing F1 game and Iphone is connected to computer via USB, it suddenly crashed and image is frozen with visible pixels. Unable to off the phone. It frozen with the image. Please help

You can go through all the support tips on Apple website for the Iphone and try them (when the site is back, check Iphoen and support and follow the advice),may or may not work depending on what teh game did to your phone.
However, if I were you I'll contact the game's developers as well or check their website if they have a forum or something.

Nikeplus on safari using iphone 3gs

Ok I saw on the nikeplus website that you can now use the website on the safari app on the iphone. But when I try to log into my account it doesn't work. it shows you where to type in your email and password lines, but when you type your information the words email and password don't delete. Therefore I am unable to log into my account. Is anyone else having this problem and how can I fix it?

Could not activate mobile data network - iPhone 3GS

Hi, I really need some help please.
Last week I started to get this message everytime I tried to use internet services, email, web or apps. I was on 4.1.2 and the phone was officially unlocked and running a T-Mobile sim with auto-update carrier file installed.
I reset the phone, restored it and never worked, subsequently, I have done this many times, reset network settings, hard reset, soft reset and I eventually upgraded to 4.2.1. This still never solved the issue.
After countless restores and resets and iTunes updating the carrier files, nothing is working. I contacted T-Mobile who said there are no connectivity issues, must be the handset. I then contacted Apple who advised the handset is out of warranty and an 'out of warranty' repair will cost minimum £146.
The phone works fine calling, messages and on Wi-Fi it's only internet services that do not work. Is there anything else I can try or has anybody experienced the same problems?

Thanks for the advice. That was one thing I hadn't tried purely becuase it is such a pain in the ***. I reset the phone and set it up as a new one and bingo, it worked fine. I then went to restor from backup, after which, same issue, Could not activate mobile data network, so another reset and now I'm pretty furious that all my phone contacts, apps and messages have all gone.
Next question would be how to transfer phone contacts from phone to sim. I have lost all new numbers that have gone into the phone for the last year, so if I reset again, restore from backup, transfer numbers to sim, then reset again and set up as new phone I should be able to recover numbers at least.

Default Image Rendition or resize image automatically

We use the column Rollup Image and have the blob cache enabled to use image rendition.
Is it possible to use this publishing image column with a default rendition (not full size) so the user has not to choose the rendition (or cannot choose it)?
Or what would be the best practise to get automatically resized Images? By publishing Image column or better by JavaScript?

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to you want to know about how to use PublishingRollupImage Column to display a default image rendition and how to get automatically resized images.
Firstly, I suggest you can use the automatically resized in the rollup publishing image column. As the image renditions will choose for different device such as mobile phone, if they display as a default rendition, then it can't be enlarge if user want to
see more clearly.
About how to get automatically resized images, you can get image with RenditionID using Jquery.
