Mobile site implementation of an existing set

is it possible to design just a muse mobile site of an existing non-muse desktop site that doesn't need changing which was designed by another developer?

Hello,
Since muse works with only .muse files, so another file format or a non muse site cannot be recreated via Muse.
However, a site having only mobile version can be created in muse.

  • Iphone 6 mobile site set up

    Hello,
I have a few question and I was hoping someone could help.
My first is what do I set up my mobile site to pixel wise? Apple says is 1334 x 750 would I lay it at half that size and use the HIPD 2X setting to double it? What about the PPI? 326?
Also, my mobile site is an extension of my portfolio and all my samples are mostly horizontal so is there a way to get the site to fall with the full frame when turned  horizontally. It works fine now but you have to slide the sample to the center of the screen which works great because it is large enough to see and it is the same proportions.
    Thanks.

    Apple gives you all that:
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/
For accuracy work in pixels based on your screen resolution.
You can always take a screen snap on your phone to use as a guide and there are plenty of wireframes available for iPhone development.

  • Creating mobile sites in muse.

I'm creating some mobile sites in muse to work with existing sites created in Business Catalyst. How does the viewing device know there is a mobi site and go to it rather than the existing site? Do I need to switch anything over?

    Hi Rich,
[ - I know this is an old topic, but for anyone else reading - ]
I had succes with merging Mobile only sites with our existing BC site.
    - Ensure you have BC set for mobile only content (Admin console > Site Settings)
    - Use Muse to export the 'phone layout' site as HTML
    - Use an SFTP client to upload the mobile site to the 'mydomain.com/mobile' folder
Desktops still see mydomain.com/index.html (built using BC templates modules etc)
Mobile devices see mydomain.com/mobile/index.html (built using Muse)
    All the best,
    Shannon

  • Is it possible to make a link in a mobile site close the browser window on the iPhone?

I'm developing a mobile site specifically for iPhone users and on my home page I have a disclaimer saying something like do not browse this site while driving. I give them the option to continue by clicking a link or to close the browser by clikcinga link. So far I haven't been able to find a script that can handle that for mobile, or more specifically, the iPhone. Can this be done on the iPhone and what versions are limited to this feature?

Ok let me ask you IF the IT department of your workplace does NOT want OS X installed on "THEIR" (The Companies) computers because of what they think is some type of security issue why are you trying to go against their wishes and install OS X on a computer that is NOT owned by you.
That could cost you your job.
If you continue down this path you will screw up the Windows install and have to take the system back to the IT department to get it fixed. What do you think they will say at that point?
Do as you like but you would be better off just buying your own Mac computer if you are set on using OS X as your personal operating system.

  • Mobile Site - Need Accordion Widget to start at top of page upon item selection

I have set up a mobile site.  I use the accordion widget for topics.  If I select any topic without diving into it and scrolling, it works fine.  If I scroll through a topic after selection, the next topic starts in the middle or the bottom.  Kind of annoying for the user.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Kevin,
Could you please share the site URL or any screen shot for reference?

  • IWeb mobile site won't work

I published an iWeb website and when I try to visit it on my iPhone, the phone automatically redirects the URL to "m.websitename.com" (even if I delete the m.) and then shows a message of "We are sorry, there is no such site.". I haven't found anything on iWeb about mobile sites, so I'm not sure why the mobile device won't just visit the normal site.

Contact your host's tech support and ask them if they have a redirect on the server.
Now that having a mobile version of your site is essential if you are in business, its usually set up as a sub domain with the prefix "m." or "mobile."
Most hosting services allow us to decide which method, if any, to use to direct mobile visitors to the appropriate version of the site. Some have obviously decided to do it for us using either .htaccess or a server side script!
Maybe you should leave it in place and take this as a strong hint to create a mobile compatible version of your site. It is possible to do this using iWeb if you think about it.

  • Getting a fixed header for Mobile site?

    Hi,
I am trying to set up a fixed header for my mobile site. I have tried multiple things and keep running into the same issue. Although I haven't tried to view on another mobile platform other than iOS 8.1, but the issue that I am having is my address bar will not collapse when I have any scroll effects set in the page. So what ends up happening is that I am loosing the top portion of my page because the address bar is still visible. Is there a work around?
I attached a image of my site and another site with what I am trying to accomplish.
    Thank you!
    Dean

Unfortunately, it's a trade-off. Scroll effects on mobile devices are performed with JavaScript, which prevents iOS from shrinking the browser frame. See the link below:

  • Youtube mobile site difficulties.

Attempting to open ANY video on youtube's mobile site brings up "this link needs to be opened with an application" with no way I can see of actually playing the content. This is true even for videos which I can play fine on the desktop site (still accessing via mobile browser). I'm using FF19 on a gingerbread galaxy ace 2 (rooted, FWIW), no flash support, stagefright.force.enabled is set to true.

Firefox needs the YouTube app for best performance. The other option is to use the Phony extension and set it to Desktop Firefox. This should get you the desktop version of YouTube.

  • Issues with Facebook (Mobile Site)

I'm having issues with the Facebook App. I have the Blackberry 3G (9330) thru Sprint and I updated my Blackberry Software from 5.0 to 6.0. Since then, the Facebook (Mobile site) will allow me to type of up to around 20 characters when submitting my status or sending an email. Once it I type around 20 characters, the screen freezes and then it boots me out of the FB (Mobile site) and goes to the Bookmark page. I reinstalled that App thinking it may have not installed properly and may have affected the Facebook Mobile site but I'm still having the same problem. However, when I use the Facebook App, I'm able to update my status and send email using more than the 20 characters that's allowed in the Facebook (Mobile site). Is there something I can do to have this corrected? I like the mobile site better because I can see my friend's birthdays on the main page and it offers more options than the FB App.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

After playing around with the settings, I found that if you have the "Assistive Input by Keyboard" under Options/Typing set to Predictive, it will interfere with any data that is keyed into the Facebook browser and cause it to freeze. I changed the setting to direct instead of Predictive and this resolved the issue. Thanks for your help!

  • E61 S60 browser for mobile sites ?

I am wondering if there is some setting that I have set incorrectly...
I use the mobile browser A LOT. I usually have no problem on most sites, other than Flash heavy sites. I think everyone has this problem.
But, some of the most popular mobile sites give me trouble and I can't figure it out.
For example, I cannot see idrudgereport.com (the mobile version of drudgereport.com...probably optimized for the BlackBerry people but i should be able to see it).
Also, I cannot get any results in Wapedia. I can see the main page, but as soon as I enter a search I get blank page of results.
That seems weird. I sent an e-mail to the people in Germany who operate Wapedia but it bounced. Oh well.
Any advice? Is there some setting I do not set up right?
Thanks a lot for your help.
    E90, E61

I just tried idrudgereport.com in the default browser of my E61i and get a "mobil device simulator" screen with the half-sentence "you from seeing this page". Using the Opera 4.0 browser I get straight in and also get images when I click on the link. Didn't try video, though.
I don't know in Opera 4.0 is available for ther E60. It works fine on my E70, which also showed idrudgereport.com (thanks, for the tip on that site, looks interesting :-)

  • Opinions needed on best way to add a mobile site

We have an existing somewhat older website that does not nicely support mobile devices. While it looks and works fine on tablets, it becomes somewhat unusable on smartphones. We do not have the time/dollars at this point to start from scratch and rebuild with all of the latest bells and whistles. So the question becomes what is the cleanest/fastest/easiest way to add a mobile website. In trying to research this answer, it appears there is no one right answer. I actually have found many possibilities. Right now I have Dreamweaver CS5 and am not going to upgrade any time soon or change tools.
Here are some possibilities I'm considering:
Adding a new "home" page and letting the user decide to either "go lean and mobile" or go wide screen and use the full website. This doesn't seem too bad to me since I'm clearly going to have to maintain 2 websites in the near term.
From there I see choices where the direction is chosen based on the OS or it is chosen based on the screen size. I have seen some based on Javascript and some CSS based. It just gets pretty confusing to know which is best.
We are adding online ordering (pizza place) and want to definitely make it useable for the mobile world. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
As a follow on question, how big of a problem would we run into (how many phone users might we anger) if we used a js based menu on our mobile sit?. Not sure how many devices/OS don't support javascript.
    Thanks so much!
    Donna

If you go down this slippery slope, trying to identify mobile user-agents is the single biggest obstacle you will face.  The list is understandably huge and constantly changing.   To make matters worse, many browsers pretend to be other browsers. So sniffing for mobile devices and redirecting them to your mobile only site is not only a major chore, it's not even 100% reliable.  And then there's the matter of maintaining 2 separate sites...  Oh, don't even go there.
Re-code your current site to make it Responsive.  Below are several Frameworks you can use to jump start your new layouts.
    Foundation Zurb
    http://foundation.zurb.com/templates.php
    Skeleton Boilerplate
    http://www.getskeleton.com/
Initializr (HTML5 Boilerplate, Responsive or Bootstrap)
    http://www.initializr.com/
DMX Zone's Bootstrap *free Extension for DW*

Project Seven's Page Packs *Commercial CSS Templates for DW*

Whichever menu system you choose, it needs to be user friendly for desktops as well as touch screen devices.  CSS styled lists are the foundation to build on.  Then you can add jQuery MeanMenu to make it mobile friendly.  I have a working example of it below (resize your browser viewport):

  • In app browser takes you to mobile site.

I have set up web links in my magazine, but when you use these on an iPad it takes you to the mobile site rather than the full web site. Is there anyway to overide this so you always get taken to the full website. (Examples: Facebook pages and Twitter).
    Thanks.

None I know of. Additionally, it's a good idea to use the links to mobile if you're using the web content overlay.

  • Mobile site taking over Desktop site after upload

I have an existing site hosted on a third party server.  I built a mobile site on Muse and just uploaded it via FTP.  Site worked great on mobile device but mobile took over the desktop as well.  I loaded the Muse files into the /. directory.
    Thanks for the help!

Thanks Brad for the reply!   I thought that was probably the issue so I removed all of the mobile files I uploaded originally (at least I think I did.)
I uploaded my original "index.html" file from my original files and all went back normal.  I then loaded muse files via FTP to a directory on the root entitled "mobile".  Now on my phone the site will only pull up the desktop.  Isn't Muse suppose to write files to the root for device detection or am I making some mistakes here?

  • Muse mobile site/ issues with size...

I created a mobile site with Muse, and it previews just fine... But when I go to an actual phone my content is a third of the page and locked on the left. Why does it look so small? I want it to be the width of the screen... I have the page width set at 320.

You most likely have an empty box or box extended past the right side of the page. Open your mobile template and do a select all to highlight everything on the page and see if you have an empty box off the design.

  • Muse Mobile Site Background Fill not working

    Hi there,
The background fill is not working on my mobile site. I can select another color but nothing displays. There is no image as fill either :/ any ideas?

    Thanks for your response.
So when i set up the pages i don't need to increase the margins on the inner sides of the facing pages? all of the templates i've downloaded look like they've done this?
And should i set up the document as an A3 and create the left and right hand side myself? Or stick to A4 facing pages?
    Thanks!
