Mobile site instead of full site

All of a sudden when I go to a website, in Safari, on my MacBook Pro I'm forced to go to the mobile version instead of the full version.  Why is this and how do I fix this issue?
Thanks
--Skifahrer7

I followed these steps, complements of Linc Davis, to fix my issue with blue question marks appearing instead of images.  Now the full versions of the sites that weren't working before, work now.  I'm not sure if this was what fixed the issue or something else I've done.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. If it finds any issues, resolve them, then boot in safe mode (shift key down at startup) to rebuild the font caches. Boot again as usual and test.
Give this a shot and it might help

  • Mobile site instead of desktop site when re-directed

    I have re-directed my website about 24 hours ago to BC but now my mobile site is showing instead of the desktop site. How do I fix it?

    Hi
    If you have designed the site using Muse, then please check the content links as which relative links you have used for.
    if you will use mobile version link for site content then site will redirect to mobile version.
    If not Muse then pm me the site url, we will have to check few things here.

  • Can you switch from a mobile site to a full site through iOS not the website??

    Hi,
    Is there a way to switch from a mobile website to a full site through iOS not the website becase the particular MOBILE website I am on does not offer the option to switch to full website??
    Thankyou.
    Kind Regards

    Not with Safari. There are some browsers available from the App store that have that feature. I think iCab is one.

  • Message Counts (Full version vs. Mobil site)

    Feel free to put this one in the "foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds" category if you want
    Next to each of the individual forum links is a number. On the "full site" the number seems to be the number of unread posts in that forum. On the mobil site, however, the number is "different". It's probably the total number of posts in the forum (I haven't counted) but it's different than the "full site" version...
    Just something that I found strange.

  • Ios safari force non mobile sites

    I can force ios Safari to open all the websites in its full version, not the mobile version?
    thx

    This seems so stupid to me. In the Keynote for the original iPad's introduction, it was said that "full webpages look great on iPad". AND THEY DO! So why would I want to see a mobile version instead? My problem is working with primitively-designed websites that design a special version for iPad that doesn't do as much, without a link to the full site. Is means I have to get my computer to do it, which is a real pain when I am laying down (often at night, when my computer is shut down already) in order to do something that requires the full site. They did the same thing for the iPhone, (although that can be helpful as long as there is still an option to view the full site) when the Keynote for the original iPhone stated that FULL WEBSITES show on iPhone.
    This obviously isn't Apple's fault, it's web developers who should just leave their main site as the tablet version. Mobile versions of websites look awful on a screen capable of showing full websites beautifully. Sorry for the rant, I just wanted to state my opinion while I read through things in frustration. I don't want to drag out my laptop at 3:30 AM.

  • Modify news, web apps layouts for mobile site?

    I am modifying an existing website to create a mobile version, placing my mobile pages in a /mobile subfolder. I am having an issue with the news and web apps, as I have already designated my templates and layouts for the full desktop version, and because my news and webapp items cannot be placed into my /mobile folder. So, now I need to display that information differently for mobile and cannot figure out how, since I am limited to a single List Layout and a single Detail Layout (for news. At least the web apps give me an Backup List Layout, which was helpful). How have others accomplished this type of thing??
    An example: On my desktop version, I have announcements shown on the homepage as short blurbs (using the list view). My detail view I already have formatted for the full screen desktop version and does not work well for mobile screens. After many attempts at workarounds, I decided that I would simply show the complete announcement for mobile as a List Layout and not use a Detailed Layout at all so that I don't even have to bother with it. My thought was to code both my desktop and mobile list layouts in the List Layout of my Announcements module, and use css to show/ hide the appropriate one.
    E.g.--
    html in my List Layout:
    <div id="standardnews">
    <h3>{tag_subject} - {tag_eventfromdate}</h3>
    <p>{tag_body, 140}</p>
    </div>
    <div id="mobilenews">
    <h3>{tag_subject_nolink} - {tag_eventfromdate}</h3>
    <p>{tag_body}</p>
    </div>
    on my desktop css stylesheet:
    div#standardnews { display:block; }
    div#mobilenews { display:none; }
    on my mobile css stylesheet:
    div#standardnews { display:none; }
    div#mobilenews { display:block; }
    The css works just fine, however, on my mobile site instead of rendering the event from date, it actually rendered the tag itself "{tag_eventfromdate}".  So, apparently I can't have multiple instances of a tag within a single page??  Is there a way around this?
    I would be grateful for any input here on the best way to handle this type of thing, given the limitations I am running into.

    You can make as many list templates as you like now.
    You can have a different template per device - phone, tablet, desktop so if modules are in that template they will then render those different templates and thus different layouts.
    If you have modules in pages that page can be differnt per device as outlined under site settings and mobile section.
    Unlimited list layouts - http://www.businesscatalyst.com/_blog/BC_Blog/post/Video_Create_custom_list_templates_for_ BC_Modules/
    You CAN NOT though have conditional tags in BC yet and you can not in one list layout have tags render differently based on the device.
    Style and presentation you use media quries and the System tag for device provided by BC.

  • Desktop site logs into the mobile site on 7 and 10 tablets?

    In the past few months I have noticed that every time I log into the community from a tablet (7 inch or a 10 inch), the login page loads the mobile site when I originally started with the desktop view. The only way I could prevent it is to set the check box "request desktop site" beforehand. Once I'm logged the desktop view will stay from the bookmark until I report the first post in a thread to the Moderators for review. If I don't have check box for desktop activated before, the report script loads the mobile site instead. This didn't used to happen. For most of the year since the last forum "update" the desktop view would load all the time on the tablets. If I wanted the mobile site, I would be reading the forum from my phone not my tablet. The 10 inch tablet would easily be able to use the desktop view effectively has it has a similar screen size to some of the smaller netbooks and chromebooks available. Yet this site loads the mobile site which is nowhere near as powerful or useful as the desktop view.
    Has anyone else seen this behavior on the login switch or reporting posts?
    This isn't the first odd thing I have seen occur in the past year. Many of those things still happen on here. It would be nice if some of these things got fixed.

    Yep, A BUNCH OF CRAP!!!!
    They are forcing us to "THE COMMUNITY" in the hopes that someone in "THE COMMUNITY" is smart enough to have figured out a BLINKIN' ANSWER INSTEAD OF HIRING AND TRAINING THEIR OWN FRIGGIN' SUPPORT STAFF!!!!!!!!!
    As Ann154 indicated - NO FRICKIN' SUPPORT here!!!!!!
    Apparently they are willing to force all these **** changes on us and have us figure them out.
    No one here (including me) apparently wants any of these new MOBILE 'hybrid' apps on our desktops and/or tablets - BUT WE SEEMINGLY HAVE NO CHOICE except to switch carriers.
    This is why I have not renewed my multi-phone contract because my intent very soon is to bail for Sprint or T-Mobile - their coverage "IS GOOD ENOUGH" for us to use.
    First, Verizon Fios forces this recent USER INTERFACE on us with the crappy colors that MANY people actually do believe is horrible. --- And next, they push this MOBILE interface on ALL OF US as if we ARE ALL DOPPIE teenagers without a full brain.
      This kind of activity causes even more attrition, more folks leaving their subscriber base - what a waste.

  • How do you stop mobile sites from loading in safari automatically on my iPad? I can't log into mobile me because of this.

    How do you stop mobile sites from loading in safari automatically on my iPad? I can't log into mobile me because of this.

    The me.com website is not designed for or intended to be accessed by iOS devices. Apple provides support in iOS or seperate Apps for accessing all aspects of MobileMe except for the Accounts section.
    Use MobielMe as intended and you'll have no problems.
    See: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1673
    Even if you use a different browser to get access to me.com on iOS, you'll find most of it is unusable.
    Other websites that present you with the mobile version have been programmed to do so by their developers. They specifically look for users accessing from 'mobile' devices and switch to the mobile site. Many such sites provide a link to go back to the 'full' site, if not, there's not a lot you can do except use a browser that can pretend not to be a mobile browser.

  • How do i get Safari to stop redirecting to mobile sites?

    Mobile websites are a curse, and IMO was one of the main reasons people didn't use the mobile web before the iPhone. Now with the iPhone you can view the actual web (minus flash, which I would really like to see soon, hint hint), without having to deal with these crippled sites, yet most of them still redirect you to their mobile site.
    Someone please tell me there is a way to get safari on the iPhone to stop redirecting to mobile sites without jailbreaking my phone.

    These redirects are controlled by the websites themseives. They figure out if you are on a mobile phone or not and then redirect you to the mobile version.
    The only way to change that is to look for a link on their site that leads to the full version or write the website webmaster asking them for a link to be added.
    There are other ways as well but those aren't supported by Apple so they can't be discussed here.

  • Mobile site using an accordian panel with menu selections

    I watched the adobe muse video here is the link  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/creative-suite-podcast-designers/how-to-create-a-dynamic-sliding -menu-for-your-mobile-website-in-adobe-muse/
    In the demo, when you preview it mobile site, the menu is not displayed and when you tap th emenu, the accordian menu displays and pushes all the content down and then when you close it, pushes it back up.
    I created a similar test mobile site. But, when I preview it the menu always appear on start up and the content is not pushed down or up when the menu is activated or closed.  I noticed that the options on the accordian widget in the video are different than in my MUSE which is V7.1 build 329.  There is no close all initially check box. Instead I have an overlap item below check box.
    So my question is what do I need to do to get this to work as per the video.
    Thanks-Bryan

    Hello,
    I think there may be an issue in how your model/Accordion Menu was configured.  What insert option are you using?  Your destination should only be 'one' row OR 'one' column at the most.
    Thanks,
    AJ

  • Is there a mobile site for Apple Support?

    Typing in the discussion forums from an iPhone is torturous. I can have full sentences typed out with my fingers before they appear on screen as text. If I have some text filled out here then go to another app and come back, it not only doesn't save my text entry it also logs me out of the forum.
    Is there a separate mobile site for this forum or a dedicated app?

    By the way, the other thing that would sign you off the site (besides very long inactivity) is transitioning from WiFi to cellular or vice versa, or switching WiFi networks.

  • Redirecting to mobile sites

    How do I get safari to go to the site I type in, instead of redirecting me to the worthless mobile site?

    It's not Safari redirecting you; it's the website itself. The site can detect you're using a mobile browser and will automatically redirect you to their mobile site. They do sometimes provide a link to load the normal site, which is usually located somewhere near the bottom of the page. Be aware the regular site is usually much more graphic-intense, slower to load, and therefore more costly depending on your data plan/usage.

  • Issues with Facebook (Mobile Site)

    I'm having issues with the Facebook App. I have the Blackberry 3G (9330) thru Sprint and I updated my Blackberry Software from 5.0 to 6.0. Since then, the Facebook (Mobile site) will allow me to type of up to around 20 characters when submitting my status or sending an email. Once it I type around 20 characters, the screen freezes and then it boots me out of the FB (Mobile site) and goes to the Bookmark page. I reinstalled that App thinking it may have not installed properly and may have affected the Facebook Mobile site but I'm still having the same problem. However, when I use the Facebook App, I'm able to update my status and send email using more than the 20 characters that's allowed in the Facebook (Mobile site). Is there something I can do to have this corrected? I like the mobile site better because I can see my friend's birthdays on the main page and it offers more options than the FB App.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    After playing around with the settings, I found that if you have the "Assistive Input by Keyboard" under Options/Typing set to Predictive, it will interfere with any data that is keyed into the Facebook browser and cause it to freeze. I changed the setting to direct instead of Predictive and this resolved the issue. Thanks for your help!

  • Mobile site - content moved to the left

    Hello everyone!
    I recently completed a site: www.threesistersgarden.org and i'm having a few issues when the site is being viewed on mobile. The first two pictures below are using Google Chrome browser (most recent 37.0.2062.117). As you can see by the right edge, all the content with the exception of the header is actually moved to the left. I'm not sure why this as the case as there is nothing there on the master or the actual page itself that should force all the content over. The background image at the top is not full screen nor is the image stretched to the edges. Please help!
    I know the site address up here says tssite.gor..etc but that was just where i took the screenshot. Even if you visit www.threesistersgarden.org the issue is still there.
    This screenshot was taken using the built in browser on my Galaxy S3. I have the most up to date firmware version. As you can see here, the header and footer is move over to the left.
    This same screenshot was taken when i tried to reload the page again. This time the header and footer don't move but you can see part of the logo and navigation menu is cut off. The links can only be selected by clicking the very bottom (ex the orange area shown).
    Thanks for your help everyone! If you need more information, please don't hesitate to ask!

    Hey Gaurav,
    Yes the site is published. I believe I've figured it out and it had to do with the width of the page image extending beyond the blue lined border on the page.
    View this on mobile:
    On this link, i've shrunk the image and fit it within the blue lined border. The footer shows up correctly on the mobile site and nothing is pushed to the left http://tssite.gorillaboston.com/the-farm.html
    This is the live page where the image extends beyond the blue lined border in the muse file but not beyond the white border http://www.threesistersgarden.org/the-farm.html
    I don't understand though why its moving all the content over to the left.

  • Opinions needed on best way to add a mobile site

    We have an existing somewhat older website that does not nicely support mobile devices. While it looks and works fine on tablets, it becomes somewhat unusable on smartphones. We do not have the time/dollars at this point to start from scratch and rebuild with all of the latest bells and whistles. So the question becomes what is the cleanest/fastest/easiest way to add a mobile website. In trying to research this answer, it appears there is no one right answer. I actually have found many possibilities. Right now I have Dreamweaver CS5 and am not going to upgrade any time soon or change tools.
    Here are some possibilities I'm considering:
    Adding a new "home" page and letting the user decide to either "go lean and mobile" or go wide screen and use the full website. This doesn't seem too bad to me since I'm clearly going to have to maintain 2 websites in the near term.
    From there I see choices where the direction is chosen based on the OS or it is chosen based on the screen size. I have seen some based on Javascript and some CSS based. It just gets pretty confusing to know which is best.
    We are adding online ordering (pizza place) and want to definitely make it useable for the mobile world. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    As a follow on question, how big of a problem would we run into (how many phone users might we anger) if we used a js based menu on our mobile sit?. Not sure how many devices/OS don't support javascript.
    Thanks so much!
    Donna

    If you go down this slippery slope, trying to identify mobile user-agents is the single biggest obstacle you will face.  The list is understandably huge and constantly changing.   To make matters worse, many browsers pretend to be other browsers. So sniffing for mobile devices and redirecting them to your mobile only site is not only a major chore, it's not even 100% reliable.  And then there's the matter of maintaining 2 separate sites...  Oh, don't even go there.
    Re-code your current site to make it Responsive.  Below are several Frameworks you can use to jump start your new layouts.
    Foundation Zurb
    http://foundation.zurb.com/templates.php
    Skeleton Boilerplate
    http://www.getskeleton.com/
    Initializr (HTML5 Boilerplate, Responsive or Bootstrap)
    http://www.initializr.com/
    DMX Zone's Bootstrap *free Extension for DW*
    http://www.dmxzone.com/go/21759/dmxzone-bootstrap/
    Project Seven's Page Packs *Commercial CSS Templates for DW*
    http://www.projectseven.com/products/templates/index.htm
    Whichever menu system you choose, it needs to be user friendly for desktops as well as touch screen devices.  CSS styled lists are the foundation to build on.  Then you can add jQuery MeanMenu to make it mobile friendly.  I have a working example of it below (resize your browser viewport):
