Mobile Telephone Directory

Mobile Neighborhood Directory.  I am saving the data from Word 2010 directly to a PDF.  I am editing the pdf with Acrobat 6 Pro (very old).  The email links will work in the edited doc and start the email app, but not the telephone number recognition dialing ability for a mobile telephone.  Will Acrobat Standard XI provide this capability on the mobile device so one can touch / click on the number to dial?

This would be a function of the PDF reading software, not the software used to make it.

  • Making a telephone directory in InDesign 5.5

    I am trying to make a telephone directory for the entire campus. I have all faculty/staff in a spread sheet, saved it as a csv file. I then put it InDesign - put the appropriate fields then tried to do multiple layouts and I am realizing it doesn't "flow."I thought I would have to create at least two InDesign templates one for the middle and then one for the back but neither flows correctly.
    Can anyone guide me?
    Basically the middle of the book should like this (but with multiple pages that the data flows until the last record)
    Then this is the back of the directory which is in alphabetical order. I don't need to format it this way I just need it to be one record on top of another, then put into a second column then flowed until the last record.
    Thanks!

    ah ok, you never said you were data merging them.
    in short, data merge doesn't have a feature like microsoft word where there is a "next record" TEXT field which lets the records flow on.
    instead, data merge works by merging the elements on the page, so if you were to merge the file and in the options turn on the multiple record feature, you'd see that many text boxes were generated but they're not threaded together... but the text boxes do have record one, then record two, then record three...
    indesign's data merge is best suited to generating data where one record changes per page. yes, it can do many records per page, but this is ideally suited to people who are imposing their own business cards many up on a page; or people making picture heavy catalogues with set amounts of records per page. indesign's data merge is not built for catalogue-style in-line data merges similar to microsoft word's mail merge to catalogue.
    for your purposes, i'd use XML but that is user unfriendly. there are CSV to XML converters online (assuming your database isn't too huge) and a great resource called "A Designer's Guide to Adobe InDesign and XML: Harness the Power of XML to Automate your Print and Web Workflows" written by James Maivald and it is about the only easy to pick up and run with book out there on the topic. There is another book by Grant Gamble on the topic and no offense to him, but my brain was full by chapter three.
    otherwise, aftermarket plug-ins such as ones made by cacidi systems or emsoftware may help.
    or, does this really need to be a data merge solution? could the text not simply be placed into indesign rather than using the data merge feature? i'd imagine the data is already in the correct order, just needs formatting. if that is the case and the excel file is available, i'd save it out as a tab delimited TXT format and place that into indesign and then format it with nested styles.

    You have to activate a new iPod by either setting it up via wifi network that has an internet connection on to connect to a computer that has iTunes and an internet connection.
    You can go to an Apple store or or to a friend's house if necessary

  • Listing Skype Number in local telephone directory ...

    What is the process for getting a listing in the local (Ireland, in my case) telephone directory (phonebook) using my Skype Number (which is a geographic Dublin number, where I reside). The publishers of the directory (which is available online and distributed throughout the area in paper form) indicate that only service providers can update the telephone directory. I know that other PSTN and VOIP service providers add/update phonebook listings for their users. What about Skype?
    So what is the process for doing this with Skype Numbers? It is important to us that we can be listed in the telephone directory with our Skype Number.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Aimi,
       thanks for your response. However, I see that as a failure in Skype's duty as a service provider. I bought the Skype Number recently with the intention of holding on to it for the long term so that I could use it for my business, print it on brochures, letterheads and business cards etc. It is important that I be able to have it listed in the business pages of my local area telephone directory and in the online telephone directory. Surely you can see that as a reasonable expectation. Only service providers can update this directory. Otherwise I would do it myself. The publishers won't deal with individuals or individual busineses - only telephone service providers, so I need your help with this.
       I'm sure that other service providers have some churn in their number assignments too, but they don't use that as an excuse for not giving their customers a telephone directory listing. Skype needs to step up to the mark here and fulfill its responsibilities as a service provider and issuer of geographic telephone numbers.
       Are you saying that the only way I can do this is to transfer the number to another telephone service/VOIP provider and have them list it for me? In other words that having a Skype Number and a telephone directory listing with that number is not possible if Skype is the service provider?
    Thanks for your help.
       [All business owners thinking of using Skype Numbers, please watch out for the reply. This could influence your decision to use Skype or some other VOIP/SIP service provider.]

  • The new mobile phone directory

    I was watching the news program on tv where the idea of a Mobile phone directory was imminent. I was given the following to opt out
    08001386263 and all I get is the opening times of the 118 services.
     I was also given the txt to send txt E and then 008800 the send, It comes back as a red X ,
    How can we opt out of the new scheme.

    I'm writing a simple web service to provide this in my last UC deployment. It will be a matter of weeks, and I'll publish it as freeware.
    If you can't wait for it, here's a simple explanation :
    You should create a web application (the server-side language it's on you) that returns to the client (ip phone) not HTML but the Cisco subset of XML (http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/vpdd/cdd/5_0/5_0_1/ipphsv/ip503ch2.htm)
    Your web app should ask on the first page the name of the contact to look for, make an ldap query, and then return the XML with the contact's data.
    Hope this helps,
    Alberto

  • How to create the Telephone Directory

    Hi everybody,
    I want to implement Telephone Directory Using Servlet , Applet. Name and phone number should be unique. I have to use the Hashtable . If anybody have idea pls let me know. How to implement. I have to store the values name and phone number using the one button . I have to find the values using one button. Pls help me.

    Hi,
    We're hiding the decisionservice directory structure in the JDEV application navigator.
    A user is not supposed to do modifications in that directory, it's pretty much deployment
    artifacts only.
    Can you elaborate on why you want to see that in the application navigator ?

  • Deletion of Mobile / telephone numbers from customer master XD03

    Hi Gurus,
    I need to delete all the mobile numbers from various customers (more than 500) in customer master XD03.
    I tried deleting the telephone number entries directly from ADR2 table, but it showing inconsistancy.
    Can anyone guide me how can i mass delete the mobile / telephone numbers from XD03.

    Use SE16N to get desired list of customer for your parameter - TEL_NUMBER with R3_USER = 2 or 3
    You can modify the list downloaded & make necessary change.
    Then use LSMW to upload change data to the system.
    I don't think its neither recommendable idea or fair practice to use &sap_edit to make direct changes to Database.

  • Leopard Client Tiger server mobile home directory not working... hmmm

    Mobile home directory is not working for my leopard clients with my tiger server.
    I can log in via the Apple server account that is set for mobile.
    On my tiger clients it prompts me to confirm my mobile account on log in and everything works fine if i unplug the network cable.
    on my leopard clients no prompt at log in. so i go to account under system prefs and see that the account says mobile..and i click on make mobile account in the account pane in system prefs says will reboot and make account.. prompts for password for mobile account i put it in and then it says there was an error in making mobile account and then it takes me back to the main log in window.
    every client i have on leopard does this...
    am i missing something?
    thanks in advance,
    Jesse

    Tiger server can control mobile account syncing and other features present on Tiger clients.

  • Mobile Home Directory: Setting a relative location for various sub-nets

    Question Summary:
    1) Is it possible to define a home directory for mobile account users that is relative to the host's subnet?
    2) How does one accomplish #1 if possible?
    Details
    Setup
    Users access hosts on three LAN networks connected through the WAN via Branch-Office VPN connections (persistant VPN tunnels that connect our LANs)
    If User1 from LAN1 travels to LAN2, User1 has difficulty working, because the mobile account definition points to a host on LAN1 for HomeDirectory syncing, so all files are synced across a slow (5Mb/s) connection shared by all other users.  For some users (The CEO, for example), this sync entails transferring Gigs of personal data, so the Mobile Sync across the VPN literally takes several days, if it completes at all.
    My ideal setup would allow User1 from LAN1 to access a host at a relative location as apposed to an absolute location.  In other words, if LAN1 has the home folder at 192.168.76.23:/HomeFolders/User1, then when User1 moves to LAN2, the HomeFolder becomes 192.168.78.23:/HomeFolders/User1. Regardless the subnet, the User account would be defined in such a way that the HomeFolder would be sought at 192.168.X.23:/HomeFolders/shortUserId
    These home folders between the hosts 192.168.76.23 and 192.168.78.23 on LAN1 and LAN2, respectively, could be kept in sync during off hours so that at the beginning of each shift, all files are in all three locations ready for local use, fast access, and more importantly, fast home-syncing during the work day.
    Equipment
    OS X Yosemite running on various iMac and MacBook hardware configurations.
    OS X Server 4 running OD replicas and local DNS's on each LAN.
    Ample space for redundant data storage on all networks.
    Question
    How do I define a HomeDirectory as a relative location to the Mobile Account Users host machine or host machine IP address?
    Alternatively, is there a way that I can define a HomeDirectory using a Fully Qualified Domain Name so that I can use the local DNS server to force the redirect?
    Previously Tried Idea(s)
    Using the same Bonjour Computer Name
    On one test, I tried to trick the system by setting the name of the HomeDirectory computer to the same name on all networks. The thought behind this is that, when looking at the HomeDirectory path, the address is defined by the computer name, so if the local computer name matches, the system will automatically point to the host that is on the current LAN, as apposed to the host of the same name on the previous LAN.
    This failed due to the fact that the system providing the HomeDirectory storage is the same system that is providing OD replica services, and OD replication requires that each system have a unique name.

    Hi,
    Yes my home directory is set
    more /etc/passwd
    sfsys1d:x:301:201:sys1 dev sftp user:/interfaces/dev/system1:/usr/bin/csh
    when i log in they go to this directory, through a shell and through ftp ( haven't checked sftp yet)
    However i can still go up directories and see what is in the directories above
    the permissions are set as below
    drwx------   3 root
    sshusers
    3 Sep  6 08:38 interfaces
    drwx--x---   3 root
    sshusers
    3 Sep  6 15:49 dev
    drwxr-----   5 sfsys1d sshusers
    7 Sep 19 14:52 system1
    I have tried various other permission 700, 710, 740 etc and they all give different results but not the correct one.
    The best I have managed to get so far is that they cannot list the files in the other directories, however if they know the names they can still go to them,  this also didn;t work in the windows ftp client, as it just showed the file/dirs anyway.
    Thanks
    Kerry

  • Mobile home directory issues on updated clients

    As I am testing out leopard server, I found that virtually every service isn't quite ready for prime time. That is at least in the advanced mode, which is strange as it that was the only mode the old server versions came in.
    I am wondering if anyone has been able to do the following (in advanced mode only):
    1. In WGM, set the mobility preference background sync of a user to an interval greater than 1 hour (let's say every 4 hours).
    Then use a client (maybe even upgraded from Tiger)and sync in that same interval.
    All the clients I have tested still sync to the previously set 1 hour intervals and when going into the mobility settings (System Preferences: Accounts: Mobile Account: Settings), all other intervals are grayed out. In WGM, mobility settings are set to merge with clients.
    2. Too bad that the Directory Utility auto discovery tool doesn't work for advanced mode servers, so it has to added manually, but I have not been able to get SSL to work. Kerberos works fine and it's all I need but I still like the client configured for SSL.
    Always comes up saying the the server doesn't support directory connections via SSL. SSL however is configured on LDAP (via self-signed cert) and no firewall setting is in the way. Or so I believe as the leopard client firewall functionality is a bit of a mystery to me.
    Sorry about my rants; I am actually quite excited about several of the new server features as they address many longstanding shortcomings. At least it looks like 10.5.1 is on its way. Thanks!

    The CN attribute (Common Name) of the SSL certificate you use in LDAP must be equal to the fully qualified domain name of the server, in order for SSL to work.
    If that isn't the problem, the logs may offer more information, especially if you increase the verbosity of slapd logs...

  • How to list the files I saved in //var/mobile/ApplicatiDocuments directory?

    I want to list the JPG files in the directory of /var/mobile/Applications/XXXXXX/Documents. Have any API like [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathsForResourcesOfType:@"JPG" inDirectory:path]; to list the files? Thanks. Kevin.

    I think you can just do something like this:
    NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains
    (NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES);
    NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0];
    NSLog(@"documentsDirectory=%@", documentsDirectory);
    NSArray *docDirContents = [[NSFileManager defaultManager]
    directoryContentsAtPath:documentsDirectory];
    for (NSString *fileName in docDirContents)
    if (![[fileName pathExtension] caseInsensitiveCompare:@"jpg"])
    NSLog(@"fileName=%@", fileName);

    if we make a call by numbers , some time work number Is displaying.
    is this default behavior or work around.

    Hi,
    It seems to be a known issue.
    Here is a similar case below which discuss the situation:

    Hi,
    I have implemented CME / CUE in three locaitons connected through WAN. I can call anyone in the Network. I need to create a Directory where i can see the Names with there Telephone Numbers. I should see all three branch telephone entries maped with the Names.
    Thanks...

    You can use an external LDAP server as a common directory and point the CME URL to use that server for directory lookup using this command.
