Mobile Time and Travel supporting Device types

Hi Mobile Guru's,
We would like to implement Mobile Time and Travel to our client. Currently they are using the PDA's. I have gone through installation guides of MTT and came to know that MTT is possible only for Laptops. Is my assumption is true? Please let me know. Actually our client wanted to implement MTT to their PDA's which they are currently using. Where can I get information that MTT supports which type of device types? Please help me.
Thanks in advance.
With best regards,
Ameer Baba.

Hi Ameer
The MTT application is supported only on Laptops and doesnt support PDAs and your assumption is absolutely true. More information on this can be obtained in the following link http://service.sap.com/instguides In this link navigate to Installations and Upgrades->Entry by Application Group->SAP xApps
->SAP xApps for Mobile Business->SAP XMTT.   Also the following notes will be useful for the latest version of MTT i.e 2.0 which is JSP based rather than MicroITS.
892203 - Mobile Travel Expenses 2.0 - Composite Note
892204 - Mobile Time Sheet 2.0 - Composite Note
942046 - Restrictions for Mobile Time Sheet 2.0
942044 - Restrictions for Mobile Travel Expenses 2.0
Hope this is helpful

  • Mobile Time and Travel  on a PDA with MAM

    Hi Everyone,
Can I deploy Mobile Time & Travel to a PDA instead of a Laptop?  We will be using a PocketPC Device for the application but not so sure if you can run Mobile Time & Travel and Mobile Asset Management with the same device.  Please advice.  Thanks.

    Hello Dai,
Mobile Time and Travel is really designed for laptops.  The UI would not be user-friendly on a PDA (always scrolling).

    Hi
Please go through this functional module HRMS_BIW_EXTRACT_PY1 in r/3 side to know the exact table where u r getting the data.
There are lot of tables involved in HR-payroll info types.
As far as your problem is concerned you take one employee and go to PA20 and analyse the payroll for each week or twice a month (depends up on ur client)
run the report on the payroll cube and find out exactly what u want.

  • Time and Travel Integration

    Hi Friends
can you suggest me how to achieve integration between time and travel? All i want is when the employee is traveling, the 2002 attendance also need to be updated so the employee is not counted as absence without notification. I've been searching the forum and most of them say no such integration but that was 3 years ago. I'm not using cross app time sheet. Regards

I'm no expert on CATS either, but an option that i can see from what you have mentioned is that you can write a custom function in the time schema to check for clock in and clock out of the employee, if both of them are not present you can trigger a mail to the immediate supervisor who can take manual action for creating a record in 2002. Alternately you can create an infotype in 2002 after verifying that clock-in/out is not present and follow a workflow process for its approval. You can also check for clock-in/out of the employee, if both of them are not present then check if the employee has an approved travel request, if present then you can create an attendance.

  • Ipad, Iphone, Mobile Apps and Webdav support

I have just purchased the NSS 324 which is a superb bit of hardware. I am however having some difficulties with support as i have both an iphone and an ipad. Neither of which formats properly via the mobile safari web interface, in addition to this apart from the Tech Support app there are no indivdual apps to take advantage of the wonderful features which are available. So my questions are:
    - Is there going to be a management app for multimedia station etc. So we can upload and download stuff remotely from a mobile device specifically designed for this device (not an ftp app)
    - WebDav just does not work remotely and one connection at a time via Cisco access now isn't going to cut it (mind you FTP works great!!!) but i have become accustomed to using Webdav and given the option i thought it would be as simple as my Synology box.
Any Help would be most appreciated as most of my morning was devoted to getting webdav configured for remote connectivity via my mobile and offsite pc but to no avail.

Hello Doishi, thank you for your reply really appreciated. i can cope with administration from a computer but it would be great if there was an app or even a mobile version whenver you need to administer from elsewhere.
For multimedia i was trying to use it for streaming music to my mobile device and upload/download content remotely. At present i can upload and download via ftp locally and remotely with no probs but the app costs over £5 per license. streaming is however a no-no as i cant find an app that does it on the fly.
Webdav ooohh Webdav... i can map the drive locally with no issues at all, the problem begins when i do the same remotely. I have attempted to map it remotely via several programs inclusive of windows 7 built in utility, webdrive and netdrive, but to no avail.
Its a ddns setup which works fine (with the relevant ports opened) and eveything works great with the exception of webdav. Am i missing something? even though webdav is enabled and is an extension of the http protocol does it have a different port? as i cant get this to go remotely.
    Kind Regards

Srikanth's post adds evidence to my original post of MTT being a desktop/laptop solution. The following are the last two lines in the link's main page:
"SAP Mobile Time and Travel integrates seamlessly with SAP ERP and can also work with non-SAP applications. SAP MTT is supported on many Microsoft Win32 -based operating systems."

  • Which device type support Unicode printing ?

    Hi all,
Do you know which cascading font device types support Customer-defined true type fonts ?
I use HP LaserJet printer. I've imported ZSWINCF device type in to SAP system and installed some true type fonts required for my report. It's able to print <b>Unicode </b>text in ABAP List but unable in SAPScript/Smartform printing.
I also try to use ZHPUTF8 or HPUTF8, and install these fonts. But i've problem in printing out.
Do you know how to resolve this problem ?
    Thanks,
    Best regards,

    Hi
see this OSS notes may be useful
    OSSNote:960341
    Symptom
In some device types (e.g HPLJ4, HPLJ5) you experience non-uniform character spacing in the PDF document after the PDF conversion of SAPscript or Smart Forms documents, using HELVE or TIMES fonts. You want to know the reason.
    Other terms
    CONVERT_OTF, SAPscript, Smart Forms
    Reason and Prerequisites
The problem is not due to an error in the PDF converter but due to the fact, that the printer font, underlying the device type (e.g. Univers or CG Times in PCL-5 device types), is not available for the PDF converter and is either not available in Adobe Reader. The PDF converter has to try to simulate the layout of the printer font by means of a font which is predefined in Adobe Reader. This is done by assigning the letter widths of the printer font to the font used in Adobe Reader.
The PDF file contains a table with letter widths, used by Adobe Reader in the output of text, for each used printer font (except PostScript fonts).
    Example:
    %Charwidth values from HP4300 HELVE 060 normal
    /Widths
    [ 278 333 500 633 633 1000 758 333 333 333 633...
Adobe reader converts this width table, by modifying the space between each character, so that the specified letter width (= space between the current and the next letter) is kept.
This 'Simulation' of printer fonts results in the sometimes visible irregular spaces in PDF.
The PDF converter always uses the Helvetica Adobe PostScript font for the display of HELVE and the Times Roman Adobe PostScript font for the display of TIMES. However, for these Adobe PostScript fonts, Adobe Reader often uses a Windows TrueType font, which differs slightly from the original PostScript font.
    Solution
Workaround: Use the POST2 PostScript device type or the PDF1 PDF device type for the PDF conversion of documents in the Latin-1 character set. They both use the Adobe PostScript fonts Helvetica or Times Roman for the HELVE/TIMES printer fonts.

    Symptom
Documents printed via SAPscript or SmartForms do not print with correct special characters, e.g. ### prints instead of Japanese or Russian characters. What to do?
    Other terms
SAPscript, SmartForms, printing, device types, OTF
    Reason and Prerequisites
Help required to choose proper fonts in a SAPscript or SmartForm
    Solution
When using SAPscript or SmartForms to print (or email or fax) a form from a business application, many factors influence the outcome of the actual text within the form. All these factors must be checked in order to ensure a correct printout:
    1) The language version of the form used to produce the printout.
Example: If you want to print a French invoice, you need to have a FR version of your SAPscript or SmartForms invoice form RVINVOICE01. And the application program must specify the corresponding language key (FR) when calling the SAPscript or SmartForms API.
    2) The font selections specified in the form (possibly also in a SAPscript style or SmartStyle used in a form).
Example: In a SAPscript form or a SmartStyle you need to specify HELVE if you want to print German text in Helvetica (or similar) font. If you want to print Japanese text, HELVE is not a valid choice but you need to specify a Japanese font like JPMINCHO in your Japanese form.
    3) The output character set of the device type
Every printer in transaction SPAD has a "device type" assigned. Device types used by the spooler for printing support only one single specific output character set. All text from the form has to be converted (using SAP's built-in character conversion mechanism) to this output character set.
A character set can typically support either a single language (e.g. Shift-JIS which supports only Japanese) or a set of languages (e.g. ISO 8859-1, which supports Western-European languages). It is possible that a given language (such as German) can be supported by several output character sets, e.g. you may use either ISO 8895-1 (Latin-1) or ISO 8859-2 (Latin-2) to represent German text. This is so because both character sets contain the special characters used in German.
Example: HPLJ4000 is a HP LaserJet device type supporting the ISO 8859-1 (Latin-1) character set. ISO 8859-1 can be used to represent e.g. Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, Swedish but NOT Russian or Japanese.
As a consequence, it is ok to use HPLJ4000 to print English, German French etc. but not for Japanese or Russian.
    4) The set of available printer fonts for a given device type
When formatting a document, SAPscript and SmartForms perform an automatic mapping of the font definitions in the form (e.g. "HELVE 14 point bold") and the available printer fonts of the device type. A replacement printer font is chosen, should the specified font selection not be available in the device type. Now this replacement can be problematic if a language-specific font, such as Chinese CNSONG, is specified in a form and it gets replaced by a font which does not support this language, e.g. COURIER.
To solve this problem, font families in SE73 have language attribute assigned, e.g. some fonts are characterized as being suitable only for certain languages. And when a replacement has to be chosen because the original font from the form is not available in the device type, a replacement font is chosen which has the same language attributes.
If no fonts for the language in question exist in the device type, the resulting font will not be able to print the special characters and you will see "wrong" output characters in the printout.
    Note on SAPscript/SmartForms Print Preview:
The OTF Print Preview available in Windows GUI (e.g. from transaction SP01) will sometimes not show the "wrong" characters which appear on the final printout. Here is the reason: since the Print Preview runs in Windows environment, it will use Windows fonts to represent the actual printer fonts. A Windows font typically has more available characters (i.e. covers more character sets) than are actually available in a printer's resident font.
A typical example where the Print Preview will differ from the printout is here: if you have a Chinese PCL5 printer such as CNHPLJ4 and use the Western Latin font COURIER in your document, the print preview will show you Chinese characters if you (by accident) tried to format Chinese characters in COURIER font. This is because Windows will automatically choose a font that can output Chinese characters (which is actually not Courier). But when you print the job on an actual PCL5 printer with resident Western and Chinese fonts, the Courier font will not print any Chinese characters but Western special characters instead, because the printer's resident Courier font does not include Chinese characters.
Rule of thumb: all Asian device types (e.g. CNHPLJ4, JPHPLJ4, JPPOST, KPHPLJ4) support not only Asian fonts but also COURIER, HELVE and TIMES fonts. But these Latin fonts can only be used to print English text, not Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters.
Which fonts are suitable for a given language?
Language(s):            Font family to use in a form:
    Latin-1 (Western Europe/Americas) *******
    DE,EN,FR,ES,NL,SV       COURIER, HELVE, TIMES
                            (LETGOTH, LNPRINT)

Verify your output by examining the OTF data
When analysing printing problems of this type, be sure to check the OTF data which gets produced by SAPscript or SmartForms. OTF or "Output Text Format" is the intermediate page-description format generated from SAPscript or SmartForms. OTF will contain the final printer font names and character set/language identifiers which help to solve the problem. OTF will even name the form and the language of the form used to create the output.
The easiest way to do this is to create a spool request from your application, run transaction SP01, use menu
    Goto->Display Requests->Settings
    and choose
    Display Mode: Raw
Now display your spool request. If this is a SAPscript or SmartForms spool request, you will see OTF data. Each line represents one OTF command, every command starts with a 2-character cmd identifier and possibly some cmd parameters follow.
Here is an excerpt from a sample OTF file where we highlight the most interesting commands:
    //XHPLJ8000    0700 00000000001

The 1st line with the // (Control) command reveals the device type usedto print: HPLJ8000
    //XHPLJ8000    0700 00000000001
The 2nd line (IN = Info command) shows the name and (internal 1-char)language key of the form:
    IN04EALEXTEST_ZEBRA
In this case it is the English (E = EN) SmartForm ALEXTEST_ZEBRA
The OP-line (OP = Open Page) gives the page format used in the form, it is DINA4 Portrait orientation:
    OPDINA4  P 144  240 1683811906000010000100001
The CP (CodePage) cmd shows the SAP system codepage used to code the text and the active language. In our case it is codepage 1100 and language E = EN = English.
    CP11000000E
Finally, the FC-cmd (Font Call) lists a printer font selected within SmartForms. Please note that every SmartForm has a designated default SmartStyle under "Form Attributes->Output Options". In addition, every text node can have a SmartStyle attached (which will override the definitions from the default style for the text). In our case the resulting printer font that was selected is HELVE 12.0 pt bold-off, italic-off.

  • RMAN / channels and device types

    Hello,
    I have a question.
In the RMAN documentation (for instance in "Oracle Database Backup and Recovery Advanced User's Guide 10g Release 2") one can find the description / instructions how
to allocate RMAN channels and define the device types.
There are 2x described device types - DISK and SBT (Tape).
    My question is:
IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE A PIPE AS A RMAN DEVICE TYPE ?
If it is not possible to define direct, perhaps there is a possibility to define it
indirect and to use a pipe to write data.
    Regards.
    Neitour

Thank you for the link. Is it this RMAN 'duplicate database' option, what you
would like to recommend me to use?
I think, it is not exactly what I really need. For 'duplicate database' I will need
to have as a source a backup of the database and not a running productive
    database.
    Is it correct?
If it is, it is not what I'd like to do.
I'd like to make a copy of a productive running database, which is placed on ASM
storage, to another server creating such a way a database also placed on ASM
storage. I'd like to do it directly. I think the best possible way can be
    RMAN / BACKUP --> PIPE --> RMAN / RESTORE.
The issue is - how can I configure RMAN to write BACKUP into a PIPE and
to read data for RESTORE from a PIPE.
    Any ideas?
    Regards

  • Supported devices for AIR runtime?

I have a few different Android devices I test AIR mobile apps on. One of them is a few years old and running Android 4.0. I can install AIR 4.0 apps with a captive runtime on the device and they run fine; however if I try to install Adobe AIR from Google Play, it says my device isn't supported.
Why would a captive AIR 4 runtime work but the Google Play version be unsupported? Is there a list of the system requirements for the latest version of AIR on Google Play anywhere? I'd like to avoid using the captive runtime during testing since it greatly slows compile time and wears the device's memory more rapidly.

Not sure why you would be having issues. I just looked at the Play Store page for Adobe AIR and it says the minimum requirements are Android 2.3 and up. What device are you specifically using?

  • ABAP list report wont print on Z device type with Z format

Our developer have created a report which outputs data in ABAP list format and the standard format would not fit. We have since created a custom format and copied a device type in to custom device type. So we now have a custom format and custom device type. However when we print, it spools correctly and shows as green but the report wont print. The only thing that gets printed is
    "Sort criteria         AscdgDescndSubtotalGRAND  TOTAL  :               X                X     PROJ" "
The abap list format is Z_100_500. Basically the report has 450 columns and hence we created this format.
I am not sure what this means. I have been advised by SAP to follow instruction on note 17895 - Adapting print list formats for customers however i cant fully comprehend point 5 of the note and I believe this is why it wont print. Has anyone adapted ABAP list using this note. Can you please let me know how i should go about printer initialisation mentioned in the noted.
We have checked everything however dont seem to get around the issue. Any ideas will be appreciated

is it possible to merge PCL device type and  a Prescribe device type?
The idea is to use the same device type for Adobe forms and SAPScript forms.

    Hi,
    It's not possible
