  • Connect Bluetooth with Samsung mobile phone headset?

I'm making a movie in Garageband and using the iMac internal speaker for recording my voice. I have a Samsung Bluetooth device I use with my mobile phone and I thought the sound would be better. I can't seem to get it to connect with my Mac. I have bluetooth sharing on, but when I go to the bluetooth set-up window, it doesn't recognize it. Am I doing something wrong, or is it incompatible?
Thanks for any help, I'm trying to avoid buying a new mic.

Have you tried pairing using the Bluetooth icon in the system tray?
Also make sure your Bluetooth drivers are up to date: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/be/nl/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g...

  • DAB or DVB-H....but will there be both?

    Hi,
Nokia have released a couple of interesting producst for the symbian^3 devices.
    Nokia Digital Radio Headset DAB
    Nokia Mobile TV Headset DVB-H
Both look identical and are a bit on the chunky side but do two completely different things. Does anyone know if Nokia is planning to release a combined unit as I wouldn't want to carry both around?

Chances of them releasing a combined version is pretty slim, even more so with them only just going on sale. Nokia doesn't discuss unannounced products so it's impossible to know for sure what will happen.

  • Can't get Dlink DBT-122 to work with Bluetooth headset

I have seen the various posts on trying to get an external usb bluetooth adapter to work with a mobile bluetooth headset e.g. Jabra bluetooth headset.
I get the following error when trying to connect to the headset:
Failed to setup the headset. Headsets are not supported on your Bluetooth hardware.
When I try and use the bluetooth firmware updater i get the following error:
This computer does not have an Apple Bluetooth module installed. It cannot be updated by this application.
Please help and Thanks in advance

The firmware upgrade does not work with the DBT-122

  • Skype and a wireless headset

    Hi,
I am about to start using Skype to make international calls. I would like a decent headset that I can use at a distance from my pb. Anyone know what the best options are? I was thinking of something that uses bluetooth could be good.
    1. Does a mobile phone headset work well with a mac?
    2. Do I need to get anything in particular?
    3. Are there headsets that are large and comfortable (rather than those tiny little things you get for a mobile phone)?
    4. Any other solutions people have found good?
    Thanks in advance...
    John

John, I've played with two bluetooth headsets... One from Jabra, and more recently a BT400 G5 from Radtech. They work, but had to constantly re-pair them, and the sound quality wasn't great, especially if I was more than about 6 feet from my PB. I'm back to using a Plantronics USB corded headset, they have a couple different types, very comfortable, depending on how portable you want it.
The search function on the board isn't working right now, I would guess they will have it back working soon... Try searching the Bluetooth section, as I recall there was a bunch of info posted there.

  • PLANTRONICS - Corded headset adapter?

I have been using for the past three phones the corded ( Plantronics M170 Mobile Convertible Headset ) with a single ear piece and boom microphone. It works great for both cordless home phones and my previous Motorola mobile phones.
I know that there is an adapter for those of you with expensive earbuds that will give you a microphone.
I know there are expensive ( quality ) bluetooth headsets.
But what I like about the corded headset is that when I need it and pull it out of the center armrest of my car, it's always ready, no recharging needed.
Is there an adapter for MONO ear piece and the microphone, or does someone know what the PIN-OUT is on the plug so I can make an adapter?
    -Bruce-

You might also just save yourself a lot of trouble and visit your local Apple store. They sell a Plantronics corded headset with Mono ear piece and boom style microphone that already has the 3.5 mm jack that is in the iphone. The box even has the iphone compatible symbol on it. No adaptor necessary! And it is only about $30.

  • Headset with boom and user voice monitoring?

Has anyone come across a headset for the 3G that has a boom mic AND allows the user to hear his/her voice in the headset as they speak? Regular wired phones do this, but I haven't found a cell phone headset yet to do the same thing.

There are several that have booms (of sorts) such as http://www.plantronics.com/northamerica/enUS/products/mobile/bluetooth-headsets/discovery-925-black and also http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/03/joby-introduces-zivio-bluetooth-headset-with- boom-mic/
But voice monitoring is not something generally done with bluetooth headsets. These are low power devices and may not have the power for that, and there is also a feed back loop being created due to the small size of these things.

  • C5 - a headset never switches off

    Hi,
I have problem with my Nokia C5. When I plug a headset into the mobile, a headset icon appears on the display and I can talk via headset - so everything is OK. But when I unplug the headset, the icon doesn't disappear and I can't talk via built-in microphone and speaker because the mobile "thinks" that the headset is still plug into it.
I cannot find an option in menu to switch headset off, repeated plugging and unplugging also doesn't help - only phone restart helps.
Does anyone have idea how can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance,
    Gosia

I have also default headphones from nokia.
I haven't this problem from several days but I had done nothing special - just at one moment everything started working. Maybe I shaked the phone in my bag and this helped... I don't know.

  • Bluetooth headphone

Does the iPhone bluetooth support Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)??? because thats what the motorola bluetooth headphone uses

  • MSI Bluetooth & XP SP2 native bluetooth support

I am getting sick and tired of Widcomm's software stack, my bluetooth device will stop working if the computer has been on for a while, it needs frequent resets, etc.
XPSP2 has native bluetooth support. Does this work with the MSI bluetooth devices, without installing any Widcomm stuff?

Thanks to the Secunia security mailing list for this bulletin:
    Pentest Limited Security Advisory
WIDCOMM Bluetooth Connectivity Software Buffer Overflows
    Advisory Details
Title: WIDCOMM Bluetooth Connectivity Software Buffer Overflows
    Announcement date: 11 August 2004
    Advisory Reference: ptl-2004-03
    CVE Name: CAN-2004-0775
    Products: WIDCOMM Bluetooth Connectivity Software
    Vulnerability Type : Buffer Overflow
    Vendor-URL: http://www.widcomm.com
    Vendor-Status: Fixed in release 3.0
    Remotely Exploitable: Yes
    Locally Exploitable: N/A
    Advisory URL: http://www.pentest.co.uk/documents/ptl-2004-03.html
    Vulnerability Description
WIDCOMM's products provides a full range of Bluetooth connectivity
solutions for PCs, PDAs, mobile phones, headsets, digital cameras,
access points, and various output devices.
An unauthenticated remote attacker can submit various malformed service
requests via Bluetooth, triggering a buffer overflow and executing
arbitrary code on the vulnerable device.
On Windows platforms this allows arbitrary code execution under the
context of the currently logged on user account.
    Vulnerable Versions
WIDCOMM supply their Bluetooth Communications software to other
companies to allow them to integrate Bluetooth technology into their
devices. They also supply Bluetooth SDK's to enable developers to create
applications that use Bluetooth. Therefore it may not be immediately
apparent that you are using the WIDCOMM Bluetooth software and version
    numbers may vary.
    WIDCOMM's website (http://www.widcomm.com/Partners/index.asp) reports
the following companies as customers or partners with WIDCOMM:

  • Problem with Nokia E 7 Headphone

    Hi all,
My headphone is not detecting on my mobile. When I'm inserting it on headphone jack its showing TV symbol rather than headphone symbol. Because of that I can't use radio also.
I tried to restore the factory settings by dialing *#7780# and also try to format the device by dialing *#7370#, but still it didn't resolve the issue.
Whether I've do something with the setting on my mobile or is it problem with my mobile or headset?
Can someone help me to resolve this issue?

    @Vishaldevasia
If you have a small non-metallic pin or thin stick like a tooth pick/matchstick dipped in alcohol as wetting agent, have you tried cleaning out the headphone jack? Sometimes dust and other fibres can get in which can affect the functionality. You would need to check using another handset before pointing to issue being hardware related.

  • Help with microphone

Heys guys i thought my mac mic was broken, i purchased a hp headset and webcam but the mic in isnt powered or somthing like that i read, is there anyway to fix this, or my other alternative is i buy a bluetooth mobile phone headset, yet do they all tend to work with macs?
    cheers
    Craig

The problem is that the mini's audio input isn't amplified, so the relatively cheap range of microphones won't work, while those with their own pre-amplification will. The Griffin iMic mentioned is an excellent device that should do the trick, though almost any USB headset will also work. A BT headset should also work of course, but the cost is far higher than more reliable, wired, solutions!

  • My speakers continue to work even though I have headphones in.

How do I set them for only one or the other?  i WANT to play through my headphones or my computer speakers.  Not both at once!

I have the same problem, as does everyone with a dm1 prior to the new 4000 series.
Anyone wanting to use regular headphones or earphones with a 3pole connection will have this problem it seems.
When i brought this laptop i needed it especially for private discreet uses with a focus on headphone usage, aka this laptop is useless to me with no headphone function.
Its been driving me crazy!  And only after intense troubleshooting/research i found all this out, that this laptop only works with a 4 pole connection device, i.e. a 4 pole headset, headphones and mic combined.
Which explains the heightened problem when using skype.
If you play with drivers and settings u can make it work for a short while, to get minutes of correct playback rather than seconds!  Still goes back to  IDT switching between reconising mic/phones.
If you load up the IDT control panel (IDT cant help btw, ive asked them) when the magic is happening you can watch it flick about....internal mic...external mic.....internal mic....external mic.
The best one can achieve with the driver front is to download a 3rd party audio driver, i got total recorder driver (subsequantly from getting the software, for off internet audio recording) and then using the driver as default when the olde switchy happens it give you constant sound in the headphones, so you get the right sound but the people around you will enjoy brief bursts of audio from the speakers.  If you disable or uninstall the IDT audio driver in the hope ATI or a third party driver will take over without tossing about you'll b disappointed.  You'll get no audio whatsoever.
One can find more IDT drivers as a non-solution, where it give you 'independant headphones' as a device, so you think great, sound promising....its grim,  make default, does nothing, get rid of other drivers...silence.
HP offers no solution, barely even reconises the problem, in fact they just produce new dm's without a combi port and with dre audio. (not to mention high specs at a cheaper price (£350 nov 2011)
I took my dm1 abroad and when i get back home they'r gonna get an earful!  My bet is they do {Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion} all about it.
In pursuit of happiness and a solution i'v looked for adaptors on ebay, theres things close to what is needed but not quite.  We need  male 4 pole 3.5mm to 3.5mm 3 pole.  Doesnt exsist.
Theres 4pole to double 4 pole and old school video RCA to 4 pole even.  Also theres mini 2.5mm 4 pole to 3.5 4 pole which is your mobile phone headset connection.
So i thought maybe one could get a usb to 3 pole and have a pair of headphones connected that way, nope doesnt exsist either.
HP SHOULD HAVE WARNED OR RECALLED THIS PRODUCT.
When i brought the dm1 off amazon it did not say combi jack for headsets only! no standard headphones, only how handy it is theres one one port for mic/phones.
    As partridge would say, {Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion}
SO...can anyone pleeeeeeeeease offer a soloution?  Saved 350 quid gone down the drain.
A driver telling the computer to forget about a microphone all together would be good, or even an adaptor to buy somewhere....PLEASE!

The N8 & E7 runs on the same Symbian version, so it is clear that compatibility might be the same.
