Mobile website is bad. - iPhone 4 & 4S

http://www.lakecountyroadside.com/
The mobile website was working fine for a week+ and all of the sudden I checked it today and it's not loading right.
It doesn't zoom to the actual page size and it makes the page really long vertically too. I can scroll down 5 times longer than this image and it's all blank too.
I tried adding: <meta name = "viewport" content = "width = 380">  and it didn't help.
I disabled Javascript and it didn't redirect to the mobile website at all.

Don't add your own viewport metadata. It will just conflict with, or otherwise prevent, the viewport metadata generated by Muse from working correctly.
Javascript is required for the proper display of Muse sites. It's used to compensate for variations across browsers as well as to provide much of the functionality of interactive objects.
The improper resizing of this page is caused by one or more objects being outside the bounds of your page in Muse Design view. Mobile browsers resize the content on the page to fit to the device width. Thus if there are objects (even something like an empty text frame) outside the bounds of the page it will cause this incorrect initial zoom.
Go to Muse Design view for the page. Go to the Object menu and select Unlock All On Page. Select All and look for objects outside the boundary of the page. In this case way off on the right.
Repeat the process for the master page that's applied to this page, if any.

You need to be a little clearer in what you're asking.
You can't make any web site in SQL Server - it's a database engine, not a website tool.
What you can do is create web sites that pull data from a back-end SQL Server, but the SQL server doesn't handle the client connection at all (that's handled by a web server such as Apache, IIS, or similar).
There are many ways to build such a site including .NET, PHP, Perl and more (although I don't know all the options for Windows servers because they're not as common outside of corporate/enterprise networks).
In either case, given your choice of development language (HTML, plus one of the PHP/Perl/.NET/etc. options), plus your database (SQL Server) plus your web server (IIS, Apache, etc.) you can make any web site you like (or, at least, you're capable of developing).
If you want to opimize that web site for iPhones then there are many references on how mobile browsing differs from the desktop. I'd recommend this book as a reference (and, yes, I understand the irony of linking to a paperback book for web design guidance ). Googling mobile web design (or iPhone web design) might yield more results.

  • Mobile website ASPX 2.0 Page not loading and Instead of loading it tries to download the aspx page sometimes

We are facing a issue in a our Mobile Banking app built on ASP.NET 2.0. Sometimes, when we load the mobile website[https://mobile.dib.ae] from iPhone or any Android phones, log-in page will never get loaded. When the log-in page fails to load in iPhone/iPad,
it’s giving us an option to download the login.aspx as a file. In some cases it shows download failed [Safari & Chrome]. In Android phone default browser, we are getting a different behavior when the log-in page fails to load. In Android phones its showing
an error message as if the page was considered as a XML file and one special character in the xml file causing issue. [Images are shown below& attached].
We are not getting the same issue in staging. Production fails randomly.
We have three servers and load balancing is in place for production. We tried to access the site many times from different iOS and android versions and was successful with each of the servers. We have even tried connecting the mobile site by turning off all
the servers except one, alternatively. All the servers worked fine individually. But it failed in the same mobile after clearing cache and cookies sometimes.
This behavior is random and we haven’t able to figure out the root cause yet. There is no error in our log files or DB.
There was security updates on all the servers before this issue started happening. We haven't uninstalled it yet.
There were no updates on the filrewall F5.
When we checked the IIS logs after a failed page load with the IP of mobile, we found there was only one entry made and it was for the favicon. We don't have favicon from the beginning and 404 error for favicon is since we started the site. As the only entry
was for favicon and as it returns an error 404 just considering that possibility.

It appears that your issue concerns web app development/troubleshooting and not .NET Framework setup (this forum's topic).
Therefore, I suggest you ask in a topical forum here:

  • Goodbye Flash: YouTube mobile goes HTML5 on iPhone and Android

Greetings, Im looking for a better understanding to what this Flash war is about. and I would likreto hear from the Adobe side of designer.
Goodbye Flash: YouTube mobile goes HTML5 on iPhone and Android
How true is this, and what will become of designing Flash websites?
I finaly was able to upgrade to an entire Suite of Adobe products including Flash with the intention of doing some Flash work, but now the client is not wanting ANY flash work because it wont work on a phone!
What about all the Flash website alredy up and running? Will new sites have to be created just for the F*ing iphone?
Watching  Avatar on the back of a airline seats to cracker sized phone screens. seriously, what is the point.
    .. I know, it's a bit of a rant.

    Marek,
    Welcome to the forum.
Do you happen to have the usable specs. for these devices? I would assume that the manual, or maybe a product Web site would have such. That will help us determine the best settings to use.
    Good luck,

  • How can I view "non-mobile" websites?

Is there a setting that would disable the browser from automatically displaying only the "mobile" version of websites? Because, sometimes I want to see the "full-version" of such sites as CNN.com. Thanks!

    One thing that might help.
    Go to Settings > Safari
    reset History, Cookies, Cache.
One more thing that might help out.
When you access a website with the iphone or another mobile device, the website has a header script that reads the browser that is accessing. depending on the variables found, the script can redirect to an alternate site. So if surfing the web with an iphone, the web programmer can create a site optimized for the iphone and then redirect.
To learn more, this link might help.

    Oy Vey Zak!!!
I've been over this for about an year now ( you can read other related posts) and have grown weary because there is no viable solution. The issue is that certain manufacturers devices, mainly Samsung & Archos tablets in my case, don't "pull" the correct version of my site. I have tried my site on iPads and the correct version appears no problem however not everybody has (or likes) an iPad. On Samsung and Archos Tablets the Phone site appears which look crappy. In this case I would expect that, due to the resolution of the tablets, the desktop version would appear which makes sense and is desirable.
Currently I'm in the middle of redesign so I only have Desktop and Phone complete. However, if you use an Archos or Samsung Tab tablet you will see that it defaults to the phone which in my opinion is silly since they both have the resolution needed. When I did have a tablet site available in my last site version, the tablets would default to the phone site like now.
My larger question is when does Adobe plan on rolling out responsive / elastic / flexible (whatever you want to call it) design? And I'm not referring to three separate sites either.
I'm not sure what the technical restrictions are that the Muse team is facing which prevents them from implementing responsive design?  Can't Adobe take Reflow and "merge" it with Muse or something along those lines?
Macaw , Webflow , CoffeeCup ... all offer this. As a non coder I would be interested in hearing (again) why this cannot be for Muse?
    Frustrated,
    Ed

  • Mobile website vs actual website

I wanted to look at the amtrack website, but it switches me over to their mobile website, with limited access. If I wanted limited web access I would have stuck with my razor. How can I make these websites show me the real web instead of a mobile website?

If a website provider includes a full and mobile version of their website, providing the mobile version of their website when accessed with a mobile device is determined by the website provider. Even though the iPhone's browser can access/view the full version of the website, it is detected as being a mobile version of the browser when accessing the website.
If the website provider does not include a preference setting for viewing the full or mobile version when accessed with Safari on your iPhone which should be saved as a cookie, check if the website provider includes a different URL to use when accessed with Safari on your iPhone to download the full version.

  • Desktop safari redirects to mobile websites

im finding the new Safari redirects to mobile websites on my destop safari...it thinks im on an iphone?
also, some websites that have seversal "pages" it wont let me click on page 2 etc or "next page" to move to next page.

    examples of problem im having
on the Audiusa website, when i type www.audiusa.com ( http://progress.audiusa.com/?csref=75483530250853401 ) it opens the desktop website, but as soon as i click on any of the model, it goes to mobile website
on expedition portal website http://www.expeditionportal.com it wont let me move to net page or select a page at the bottom of the forst page

  • Mobile Websites

Is it possible to not go to the mobile website? For example, I took my IPhone and tried to go to www.pizzahut.com, and it redirected me to their mobile website made for the IPhone. Because of this, I could only place an order, find the nearest Pizza Hut, and check for deals specifically for mobile users. It was not at all helpful, and I could not find any way to go to the normal site, like you would on your desktop or laptop. The IPhone also did that for the first few times I went to Google.com, but I was able to change to the normal site through Settings on the Google page. Is there any way to go to the normal sites only? Like, not go to the mobile sites at all? Thanks.

So, they have to keep all different browswers from different phones.
Not exactly. The browser used is on your computer or the device is for accessing the website. The website provider can determine which browser you are using - on a Windows PC or on a Mac, or on a Windows Mobile device or on the iPhone. Safari on the iPhone is picked up as a mobile browser - which it is.
The websites that offer a full and mobile version of their website believe they are doing mobile device users a favor - since most mobile browsers on other devices aren't as good as Safari on an iPhone - even without Flash support. As 3G network access continues to expand - with Verizon and at&t, this will likely change over time, but not likely anytime soon.
Just wondering how popular for phone users really browse through websites?
    Very popular.

You rarely browse websites because it is like peeking through a hole?
I have no idea what this means, and how does $$$$ play into browsing a website - as far as money being taken from you?

  • Google mobile website only - arghhhh

When I first got my iphone the google website always went to www.google.com exactly like I typed in. Since I updated my phone when I go to www.google.com I get forwarded to www.google.com/m the mobile website. Not sure what is causing this only noticed it since I updated. Normally I wouldnt mind this but now when I log in to iGoogle which use to work perfect and display all my tools and gadgets it displays all mobile style and nothing really shows up now except for news stuff. This is really aggravating. I can not figure out for the life of me how to get it to go back to the way it was. I have tried pushing the Classic link at the bottom and then going to iGoogle but it still displays it all weird. Any ideas anyone? I am really annoyed. I loved my iGoogle page on my iPhone. Why is this happening? Thanks for any responses.

Google is detecting the browser version and routing the request to the apropriate site. They probably didn't have the mobile safari browser added to their list of mobile browsers at first and have since corrected the error. Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions on how to circumvent that behaviour.

  • Can you build a mobile website in Muse and redirect to a desktop website which is not built in Muse?

    Hi
I am looking at the idea of extending my photoshop monthly subscription to one that will give me access to Muse and Illustrator etc.
I have been building mobile websites on a mobile platform and then redirecting these to clients desktop sites - this is an option for clients who don't want to go the whole hog with new web design.
Is it possible to build a mobile website using muse and then redirect this mobile website to an existing desktop site that has not been built on Muse?
    Thanks in advance
    Michele

You can certainly use Muse for hosting on other hosts as well. You do lose some of the functionality of Business Catalyst such as In Browser Editing. I just saw that you did your current one in Wordpress ... so I assume there is a blog?
If so, keep in mind that Muse alone does not have a blog feature. You can integrate a Business Catalyst Blog into it with a bit of knowledge on how BC works.
