Mobile WIFI for ipad 2

Can someone please help me find out to get internet on my ipad2 when I will be out of town and the house does not have internet service?  Is there any type of aircard I can buy without a long term contract. I use At & T.

There are mobile hotspots that you can buy and you can purchase a data plan to use the hotspot with. I have the Verizon MIF2200 hotspot and it works quite well. My iPad is WiFi only as well and bought the iPad, the hotspot and the data plan all from Verizon. My plan is month to month but it will renew every month unless I cancel the plan - but I do not have a contract at all to worry about cancelling.
Take a look for yourself.

What router are you using? make/model/version
What security type are you using? If it is WEP then symbolic (non hex) keys may be converted to hex in different ways by different operating systems. Is your laptop a Windows PC?
If you are using WEP then drop it and move to WPA2. WEP has been deprecated by the WiFi alliance since 2004 as insecure (it can be hacked in seconds).

  • Compatable mobile printer for iPad 2

I posted earlier and forgot to mention that I need it to be a MOBILE printer that would work with the ipad2 with apps.....

There are a couple of HP options ... I've been happily printing for a while from my iPad to my battery-operated HP H470 with absolutely no wires (and no router / pre-existing WiFi connection - it operates in AdHoc mode). Literally just the iPad and the H470 - in fact, one time in a marquee in the middle of a muddy field with no power and a long way from the nearest WiFi connection, so it can be done from literally anywhere.
I also couldn't find any info on a true mobile printing solution for iPad (or iPhone/iPod for that matter) but felt sure it must be possible, somehow - so once I'd sorted it all out, I wrote down the solution and the steps to get it to work in the hope of helping others:

  • FRUSTRATED: FiOS Mobile app for iPad and live TV on my computer do not recognize me as a subscriber

We recently upgraded our data only service to FiOS TV and Quantum internet.  TV service in the house works great.  However, attempts to watch live TV (on channels that I subscribe to/pay for) using FiOS mobile for iPAD and on my home computer continue to result in some error message saying that my subscription cannot be verified.  The same happens when trying to view WatchESPN or Disney via our Apple TV.
I've attempted to resolve this via two or three chat sessions and at least two phone calls to Verizon and it hasn't been fixed or resolved.  Somewhere in my account a "pending order" exists, although I don't have one pending.  No one knows how to clear this out but thinks that is my problem.  This is very frustrating.
Any suggestions or thoughts?  I have done the following:
    -uninstalled and reinstalled FiOS mobile
-been sure to log in under the primary user when online or or the iPad
    Thanks!

  • Is there an antenna booster for wifi for ipad???

There is no such thing for the iPad AFAIK.  You could, however, get a signal booster for your wireless router.

  • Best wifi for iPad uk

    Hi everyone,
I recently just bought an iPad air and have tried to connect it to my home BT Hub 5 wifi. It refuses to work.. I've been on the phone to Apple and BT support. I see from other posts that apparently lots of people have had this problem too. I've tried all the separating the 2.4 and 5 GHz signals, reseting settings etc etc..
I'm now considering switching who I get my broadband from.. can anyone recommend which is a stable broadband supplier for iPad and Macbook Pro?
I can't believe they charge so much money and the thing doesn't work!! Unbelievable..
    Thanks
    Andy

finally got to the bottom of it, the iPad can't handle the two wave bands going at the same time, so if you disable the 5GHz and leave the 2.4GHz one running, it works... Took hours on tech support to finally get it going!
    hope this helps someone...

  • Portable wifi for ipad

Can you purchace a wifi card for the iPad 2?

I'm not sure what you mean. All iPads have WiFi built in. If you wish to connect to a cell network from a WiFi-only iPad, then you can use either a MiFi device as tonefox suggested or use a cellphone which supports Personal Hotspot (AKA "tethering").
If that's not what you mean, please post back and clarify.
    Regards.

  • Setting up wifi for ipad with an existing hard wired network

    Greets all.
Got my aged mother in law an ipad so her bad eyes could read ebooks. Only way she can download new books is with a wifi connection. Trouble is, at her house My aged father in law had a hard wired dsl connection to the internet with Windows PCs. Can I install a wifi network in her house and still leave the existing hard wired network (all commputers connected via cat5) intact? I only need the wifi connection for the ipad. That said; what do I need to make this happen besides a wireless router. Ive heard the Airport Extreme gets good reviews. I only have pc experience and have a linksys router at my own house for my wifi network. So please...can the wifi ipad connection and hard wired dsl connection peacefully coexist and if so how do I go about setting it up? Thanks much!

Thank you!  Thank you!  Awesome!  I've been trying to find an explanation for this is laymen's terms (I'm new to Mac and wi-fi networks) and this answered my question exactly.  I have an iMac I want to keep its wired connection, and the iPad to run off wi-fi.  Sounds like the Airport Extreme is the way to go, but I only say that because it's an Apple product.
What would be the advantage/disadvantage with going with something like DLink or Linksys?  Or as long as I buy something with the 10/100 802.11b/g support, should I be okay.
    Thanks again!

  • Mobile internet for Ipad 4

I have no internet connection using a sim card with local telephone company. What do I have to do to get internet after I insert a sim card on my ipad?

I guess it depends on where you live. You will need to get a subscription at a service provider. I have unlimited mobile internet (3G with 7 Mbps down / 3 Mbps up) for ~$15 / month (in Sweden). I ordered a new micro-sim card, but you can always use a sim cutter tool to reduce the size of a regular sim card to micro sim size.

  • HT4199 Sierra 4g mobile wifi and ipad connectivity failure - it is an encryption problem - can it be fixed

I have checked all the articles on apple support and it should work. The wifi device supports 802.11n. I have contacted Sierra - their suggestions to alter the settings to 802.11g or g/n did not help. Telstra technical have sent me back to apple as they have no idea. The pad sees the network - but never allows the input for the security codes. Have tried altering to older security types. Have tried 'forget network'. have switched things off and then on again -all to no avail. The ipad only accesses the wifi network if i turn off the security. It is an original iPad but the software has been updated. Anyone have any other suggestions?
    thanks, P

Well, this doesn't actually solve my problem because even if I take your advice in full it doesn't help me connect the iPad to my PC in the future for other backups, transfers, etc.
Incidentally, the game I purchased was bought through the iPad App Store using my own AppleID and account number, so that one I should absolutely be allowed to keep.  My in-laws had nothing to do with that.  I think the only other app my mother-in-law had on here was iBooks.
Doesn't anyone else have any suggestions here?

  • Follow this to fix wifi for iPad

Hello all I was in this forum yesterday trying to fix the WiFi connection on my iPad. This is what I have found to fix the issue.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3304
I followed the steps as listed by Apple and all has been good. I do know that adding the update to 3.2.2 os worked the best. I thought that I would post this here to help others. Now if this does not work I guess that you should take it in to Apple.

    Interesting about the low power.
My group just installed an Alcatel-Lucent wireless solution for a new facility that consists of an OAW-6000 wireless switch and 28 AP125 a/b/g/n thin-APs. Am running production build v3.4.2.5 of the switch software, which when installed triggers updates to all AP.s
    Information on APs found here:
    http://enterprise.alcatel-lucent.com/?product=WLANAP124&page=overview
Information in wireless switch found here:

Just got my iPad Tuesday to assist with work, so far working out very well. When I was in the building earlier this morning I had no problems with connectivity to the wireless network - the iPad battery was in the range ~50-90% during the morning and early afternoon.
I noticed later this afternoon that when moving around to different parts of the building, connectivity was "spotty", with messages indicating that the iPad was unable to connect to a server, web-site, etc. The iPad battery was in the range ~10-20% during the late afternoon.
These connectivity messages appeared to be more frequent as the iPad battery drained lower and lower. I re-booted the wireless switch, which did not clear the problem the iPad was experiencing.
I drained the iPad battery down completely and plugged the iPad in to charge. I will see how a fully charged iPad accesses the network on Monday.
