MobileMe account split from AppleID during iCloud transition

I previously had an AppleID account under a non-Apple email address. Let's call it [email protected] I use this account for my iTunes transactions, Mac support, etc. It also paid for me MobileMe account, which we'll [email protected]
When I upgraded the [email protected] account to iCloud, somehow it got disconnected from the [email protected] AppleId and now I have two AppleIDs. This isn't particularly the end of the world, but is there a way to merge them? And, if there's not, how do I transition all of the digital assets associated with each account from one account to another?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, OSX 10.6.8 will not support iCloud. You can use the mail address from the iCloud account with Snow Leopard bot not the rest of the iCloud features. You can access then via the web browser though at iCloud.com.
To set up iCloud mail.
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

  • Can I move storage purchased under old MobileMe account to my AppleID account?

Can I transfer the extra storage purchased on my old MobileMe account to my AppleID account (which is my primary account for iCloud)?  If not, can I get a refund for the MobileMe storage to use toward my AppleID account?

This can't be done: and you aren't due for a refund because your MobileMe account was extended for free from the date of its last renewal coming due up to the service closing in July, so you haven't been paying for it.
As an ex-MobileMe user your migrated iCloud account (signed into with your ex-MobileMe address) storage has been extended by 20GB for free but only until the end of September - at that time it will revert to 5GB unless you purchase additional storage.

  • Which mobileme account do I upgrade to iCloud first? Master or email only account.

Hi. I have two mobileme accounts that have not been upgraded to iCloud yet.
The first is the master account that I use and the second is an email only account that my father uses which is attached to my master account.
I would like to upgrade both to iCloud but I have received conflicting advice from a couple of Apple stores I have sought advice from. (A couple of Apple employees said do the master account first, the other two said to do the email only first!).
Does it matter in which order I upgrade these accounts to iCloud? ie. should or upgrade the Master account first or the email only account?
    Or doesn't it matter !!!
Thanks in advance for your help.

The OP is asking about upgrading MobileMe, rather than the setting up of iCloud. Though it shouldn't make any difference, I would advise carrying out the migration of the email-only account first, then the master account.
After that, whichever one it is that is wanted as the primary account needs to be entered in System Preferences>iCloud. And of course his father, who uses the email-only account, may have his own user account and can set up the ex-email-only account as a primary account there.

  • Consolidate multiple mobileme accounts over as to 1 iCloud accountt

I wanted to see if anyone have a similar issue..
Over the many purchases, we ended up with multple me accounts and the compounding issue we had with iTunes accounts (had to create multiple iTunes\App Store accounts has left us scratching our heads and wondering if this was not possible desite Apple store guidance.....Any assistance would be welcomed..
Ideally, we could have a master account that managed services for the following devices:
    (1) iMac
    (2) Macbook Pro
    (1) Macbook
    (2) iPad
    (5) iPhone
We could like to have a main calendar that could push out to all devices and also allow for multiple users to create additional shared calendars. This would include Outlook, 1Cal, Google (both personal & Google Apps users)
Any thoughts to solve this seemily simple effort?
    Appreciated
    Chuck

Macworld has a workaround for this that seems to work ok:
    http://tr.im/MMAccount
On getting the deleted mail accounts to sync back from iTunes, I had to de-select them first, and then re-select to get them to show up afterwards, but at least I can upload to the correct account now.

  • HT5527 I did not move my Mobileme account to iCloud. How can I get off the iCloud mailing list?

I did not move my Mobileme account to iCloud. How can I get off the iCloud mailing list?

If you migrated your MobileMe account before 1 August you should have signed into System Preferences>iCloud with it, and you would be able to see your calendars, bookmarks and emails on the iCloud website. Is this the case? Did you sign into iCloud with your @me.com address?
If you did not migrate your MobileMe account you can no longer do so.
If you did migrate, did you do so from a full MobileMe account or from a Family Pack sub-account? the latter did not get the complimentary storage (because their iDisks were only 5GB anyway).
If you had a full MobileMe account, check on your Mac - System Preferences>iCloud - and see whether that shows the upgrade. If it doesn't, you probably need to contact Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support (MobileMe Support is no longer available) and you may be asked to pay a fee: in this case you should ask them to deal with it without cost (and hope they agree).
Note that you haven't paid anything for your MobileMe storage since your first renewal date after 6 June 2011, and iCloud costs nothing unless you specifically choose to upgrade the storage. Note also the iCloud storage is not general file storage in the manner of the iDisk but is restricted to iOS device Backup, Mail, Photo Journal and Documents.

  • How can I connect my MobileME account and my Apple ID?

I used my AppleID to purchase Songs and Apps. Two years ago I opened a MobileME account and in the background Apple created a second AppleID (my mobileMe amail). Yesterday I transfered MovileMe to iCloud and started useing it on my iPad. Because I purchased all my apps on my other ID its now impossible to use all the iCloud fetures.

I too have the same situation an original Itunes ID and then a Mobileme ID. After I used my Mobileme account to transfer everything to icloud; I noticed I had no available purchases on the Itune store to download.  I have purchased tons of music so where in the cloud did it go??  Still on Itunes! I went to support pages and it told me that I could have two Apple ID's one for store and another for Icloud just like mobile me work. They would work together, so it told me.  I did just that put my old Apple ID into the Store account in Settings.  Thought I was done and Happy.
Well then I got a message that my icloud account was not correct, and could not retrieve mail.  Yes it was! Even Verifired it again.  Still nothing.  Went to the store setting logout of the Itunes ID and used the icloudID/"old mobilemeID", now I can get mail again.
So now I guess when I want to purchase music, or download music from my ItunesID; I will have to go to store enter the ItunesID and purchase/download then log out.  This is not what the support page said you would have to do.  But the two ID's on one device do no work correctly.  Seems like something is not working, but will give it a couple of weeks to get all the kinks worked out.

  • How can I move all my contacts from iPhone to iCloud?

On my iPhone, all my contacts are synched with my MobileMe Account. Now I've set up iCloud on my iPhone by creating a NEW iCloud account, with a different Apple ID (I mean, different from my MobileMe account and from my Apple Store/ITunes account, to test the new iCloud).
In fact I would like to move all my iPhone contacts to my new iCloud account. I have chosen the appropriate settings under iCloud settings, but (even after several days) my contacts have not synched with iCloud.
    How can I do this?
I would like to avoid migrating my MobileMe account to iCloud for the time being.
    Thanks for your help,
    Marco

Windows 8, Outlook 2010, I'm trying via Google, but the other problem I have, is that I can't update my contacts in iCloud, I tried from the web on the tab that says update contacts, but is not synchronizing them...

Keep going round in circles - get Congratulations message from mobileme then still cannot sign into iCloud. Have successfully moved 2 other family accounts weeks possibly months ago but this one will not? Am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 OSX. • I have one paid mobileme account, few days ago I have done transition to iCloud and all my iDisk, contact... gone. Today I tried login to iCloud application on my windows pc but can not, it said "this apple id is valid but is not iCloud account"

I have one paid mobileme account, few days ago I have done transition to iCloud and all my iDisk, contact... gone. Today I tried login to iCloud application on my windows pc (64bit) but I can not, it said "this apple id is valid but is not iCloud account". I can login on website icloud.com but can not login into iCloud application installed on pc. What's wrong?
I have tried another free apple ID and logged on. That's funny when I can login with free account and can not login with paid mobileme account!!!!!!

By the way - the only reason I downloaded iCloud is because Apple deleted the backup option from iTunes.  Since iCloud doesn't work, I guess we have no way to protect our iTunes music collection.  Absolutely stupid.

  • Where is my "free" 20GB from MobileMe account to iCloud?

    Hello,
I finalized my transition from MobileMe to iCloud.  I know that current MobileMe subscribers are entitled to an additional 20GB on iCloud for free (regularly at $40/yr).  However, when I completed my transition, I did not see my free storage.  Do I need to go through the "upgrade your storage" process as if I am about to pay for it?  Or was it supposed to happen automatically and it didn't?
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    icfirat

Did you have a full MobileMe account, or a Family Pack sub-account? - the latter can be migrated to iCloud but do not get the free 20GB.
If you had a full MobileMe account and cannot find your 20GB you probably need to contact Support:

  • I had a mobileme account and I transitioned to icloud.

I have been able to operate icloud on my pro, ipad and iphone; but the mobileme account keeps showing up on my imac. And I can't access with my icloud user and password.
I tried to delete it from mail, contacts and calendar: but it is still part of settings. And my icloud username and password doesn't give me access.

What I ended up having to do was delete my subscription calendars and resubscribe to them and now they're showing up.  Glad it was that type of calendar where I could easily delete it and reinstall it. Not sure what someone does if it's their personal calendar.
This iCloud approach is terrific. When it works. And when it doesn't, it's a really frustrating thing and there's little support to help us figure out how to troubleshoot it.

These information are contradctory. Now my account is locked.
What Am I supposed to do???
    thanks for your help!

Well as far as I can tell the only developed alternative to Apple is Microsoft, sure you want to go there?
iCloud (and Mobile Me before it) are consumer level systems, working correctly they are a poor choice for business use, if you want to stay all Mac try Zimbra if you can let a little Microsoft in the mix use Microsoft Exchange (Mail, iCal & Address Book are compatible as clients), hosted Exchange systems cost about $10 per month.
Or try to fix what is wrong with your installation (which is clearly not running as it should)

  • Why can't I push my mail from iCloud to my MobileMe account?

I recently moved to iCloud and yesterday my MobileMe account stopped working. I update my software to OSX Lion and I can't figure out how to psh my mail from my iCloud account back to my MobileMe account. Can you help?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
iCloud and MobileMe are similar but separate services, iCloud is replacing MobileMe. Having migrated to iCloud you should now only use your iCloud account. You can access your iCloud e-mail, in your mail application by enabling it in system preferences >iCloud .

  • I don't have a MobileMe account, and, after the iCloud transition, how will I use iWeb?

??? I want to publish my site to the web. HELP!!!

Well, how have you been publishing your site before now without a MobileMe account?
You need to go and purchase a domain name and hosting space with a company such as http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.hostexcellence.com and publish your site here.
    It is really very simple.
