MobileMe Album - Multiple Copies of Images

I created a MobileMe Album and published it in my gallery. I then added pictures to the album by selecting and dragging the photos into the album. The album in Aperture shows multiple images of the same picture. When I select one image, both appear to be selected. When I try to delete one of the copies - both are deleted as is the original. All copies and the original in all albums are gone. When I look at the album in my web gallery - all the photos are there with no duplicates, but they are not in the same order. Anybody have any advice as to what I'm doing wrong? I'm sure my description of my problem is strange, but so is Aperture. Help? Suggestions? thanks

FWIW, this appears to be an Aperture bug that's independent of MobleMe. I have the same problem in normal albums with no connection to MobleMe. If I copy an image from one album to another, multiple copies appear in the destination album and there's no way to prune the copies: removing one copy removes them all.

  • Multiple copies of images in Finder

In "All Images," I noticed that there are MANY copies of the same .jpg - sometimes up to 30 copies of the exact same picture file.
I also noticed that when I add one of these photos to iPhoto, yet ANOTHER copy appears in Finder...
    Any idea why?
Any harm in deleting the dupes? (I have been moving them to the trash periodically).

Are you 100% certain that they are duplicates? *All Images* is a search. Everything that appears in that Smart Mailbox actually resides somewhere else. If you delete it from *All Images*, you are deleting the original, wherever it is.

  • How can I gather multiple copies of photos on various devices into one central repository?

Various episodes over the years of making albums, assembling collections for export or import, migrating between machines, etc have resulted in multiple copies of images to be scattered, in some cases, in unexpected combinations on a couple of separate iPhoto libraries.  Does the latest iPhoto (or Aperture, or ??) have means to identify and gather copies?
Any help in this direction would be greatly appreciated.

The paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager can merge multiple libraries into one library while excluding duplicate image files.

  • MobileMe album doesnt show in iPhoto

I uploaded two albums last night and i left the computer alone and when i returned i saw that iPhoto had crashed. When i reopened iPhoto i saw that the two albums i uploaded showed up in the mobileme dropdown but when i clicked on them to see the photos i couldnt see any of the pictures. Then i logged into me.com and i saw that there were duplicates where the duplicates had 0 images in them and the other two had all the uploaded images. So i went back into iphoto and deleted the two mobileme albums that had no images in them. Now I'm trying to get the two albums on my mobileme gallery to show up in the mobilme iphoto dropdwon menu. How can i do that?
    Thanks

Hi Matiar. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Now I'm trying to get the two albums on my mobileme gallery to show up in the mobilme iphoto dropdwon menu. How can i do that?
Unfortunately, that won't work. As you state, the galleries have "0" images in them. So you should probably delete those corrupt galleries and start again. Log back in to your MobileMe account online:
    www.me.com
...go to the galleries in question and delete them there. Then recreate the albums again in iPhoto, and upload them to your MobileMe account once more. That should work. But as long as the corrupt galleries remain online you will have problems. Cheers!

  • Printing Multiple Copies of Same Image on Multiple Pages

I have Photoshop Elements 11 on a Windows 8 platform.  I can NOT get it to print multiple copies of the same file on multiple pages.  I need one file printed on one page multiple times.  I have tried the CTRL-ALT-SHIFT and nothing changes.  It still just prints one and is done.
I use this for label printing, so I need it to print more than one copy at a time.  It also is not saving the settings, so everytime I hit print, I have to readjust the print requirements.  This just is not going to work when you need to print a few hundred copies at a time.

You can create your own picture package, if none of the options in the PSE print window>Type of Print work for you. Just make a blank file, copy/paste your image and alt drag it to make multiple copies. You can use the move tool to position things as you want them.
Generally speaking, though, for something like label printing, it's simplest to use PSE to create the image, then use your word processing/desktop publishing program to print the actual labels.

  • Multiple copies of albums appearing in my iPod

    Dear all,
It seems that every time I connect my iPod to my iTunes Library and sync everything, when I turn on my iPod I find that with one or two albums (and only these 'problem albums', I have not only one copy, but sometimes 5 or 6! Their titles are sometimes spelled differently with respect to upper and lower case letters, but on the iTunes there is only one version of the album, so I cannot figure out what is going wrong. When I try and delete the extra copies in iTunes, they are not there! It shows only one album. Could it be an issue with the album art?
    Help, please...
    Thanks,
    O

In general iTunes is slightly more liberal when it comes to spelling than the iPod. As the iPod enumerates the tracks it will see each different spelling as a new artist so it may list one album multiple times. The iPod also takes no account of the Album Artist field so tracks with guest artists may also be viewed as separate albums. Disk No. & No. of disks may also affect the order in which tracks are enumerated or grouped. For a given album the following terms should all have exactly the same values. Album Title, Artist (except for Compilations), No. of Tracks, No. of Discs. & Part of a Compilation. The Sort Artist & Sort Album fields take precedence over Artist & Album and, if used, should either have the same values for all tracks, or match with the existing values for Artist & Album on other tracks.
Normally selecting all the tracks from the album and overtyping the Album, Artist & Album Artist info. is enough to fix this issue, although once I had some weird extended character that refused to be replaced in certain tracks. In this case the answer was simply to add some random info. into each field, e.g. add X onto each value, apply the changes, then remove the excess text & reapply.

  • How to print multiple copies of same image (with specific fixed dimensions) on single page

I am using Photoshop Elements 10 on Win 7 PC.  I am trying to print multiple copies of one image on a single 8.5x11 sheet of paper? The images are artwork for buttons (to be used in button-making machine) so the dimensions must be exact on the duplicated images.  When I select Picture Package, the images are resized to fit the dimensions in the picture package. When I select Contact Sheet, the images are resized to fit the number of columns I selected.  Neither is acceptable.  How can I repeat the same image on a single piece of paper without having the system re-size the image?  I know that I can manually create a new PSE file and manually insert the images into this file.  This is what I have been doing as a work-around.   But I would hope there is a better/faster way.
    Thank-you!

A variation of hatstead's method where the pictures are precisely aligned:
    1. Add the picture to the blank file as hatstead described. Use the Move tool to position the picture in the upper left corner.
    2. Duplicate the layer. Use the arrow keys (NOT the mouse) to move the new layer to the right.
    3. Repeat step 2 until the row is filled:
    4. Merge Down the 3 layers into one. Alternatively, link the 3 layers and do a Merge Linked as in this example. The end result is the pictures in the row are on one layer:
    5. Duplicate the layer and use the arrow keys to move this down to the 2nd row.
    6. Repeat step 5 to create additional rows.
    7. Finally, to center the whole thing on the sheet, link all the row layers and position with the arrow keys.
Note that you can also custom-make your own Picture Package. Instructions for this should be somewhere in Help.

  • After downloading music and dragging into iTunes I end up with multiple copies of the album on my hard drive. I do have the "copy files into iTunes library" checked. When I try to erase one of the copies I end up with red ! in iTunes library.

Please Help!  After downloading an album and dragging it into itunes I end up having multiple copies of the album on my hard drive.  I do have (under Itunes preferences, advanced) copy songs into itunes library "checked".  I'm sure this is the reason for the multiple copies.  When I try to delete one of the copies of the album and go back to itunes and try playing a song, I get a red exclamtion point next to the song with an error message saying itunes cannot locate file. My questions are, Does Itunes literally make a copy of the song? If so , How do you know which file to delete?

Sony's own entertainment software on the Vaio plays merry **** with iTunes, worse there's no telling when it will kick in.
First head over to the Sony Vaio site and get the update for the software, that will stop it from messing with the iTunes database/library files when you connect your iPod.

With that stopped you can add the music back without fear of this happening again.

  • "Tell a Friend" email from MobileMe album - no images or formatting

When I use "tell a friend" from a MobileMe album, it usually calls up "mail" with fancy body text with images of the key album photo with links and a nice layout.
Now, when I use it, it just comes up with plain text as the email message. I don't know why or how I can change it back to the way it used to be.
I've tried rebuilding the iPhoto library using the cmd+option launch and checking the last three boxes. Anything else I have missed out? I'm not using any email encryption software as well. Just Apple "mail".
    Thanks,
    Howie

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Is your Mail preferences set for RTF formatting or just plain text? That might be the reason. Set it to RTF if it's not that already. Other than that try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, reboot and try again.

  • How to change MobileMe album poster image?

By default, Aperture (or MobileMe) will use the first image in the synchronized album as the poster image. Is there any way of choosing a different image to appear as the Album's poster image?
    ...Rene

I know that you can do this when viewing your gallery online, but I don't know if there is a way to do it in Aperture.
    In your browser:
    navigate to www.me.com
    log in to your account
click on the Gallery button (sunflower icon)
click on the specific gallery you want to change
click on (select) the photo that you want to use as the new poster image
with the desired image selected, click on the actions (gear) icon in the toolbar
choose Set Key Photo command from the menu

  • Only want one image version in MobileMe album

When I add a version to a MobileMe album, all of the versions are added to the album. When I delete the other versions from the MobileMe album, those versions are deleted from my library.
I only want one version added to the MobileMe album... and the other versions to remain in my album.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Within Aperture you have Images, which are constructed on-the-fly from two files (the Master and the Version).  You get an image-format file _only_ when you export an Image.  You select the file name (usually a scheme) when you create an image-format file (that is, when you export).  Look under "Aperture→Presets→File Naming" for built-in Presets.  You can, of course, create your own or customize any provided.
The Preset is applied to only the file newly created by your "export" command.  It is not applied to the Image in Aperture (unless you rename your Versions or your Masters).

  • Albums with iPhoto imports have multiple versions of images.  How do I deal with this?

I have been using Aperture happily for several months, and recently followed the Apple help suggestion to "Consolidate Masters."  I had the impression that this would allow me to cut any awkward ties with my old iPhoto library, and use Aperture consistently with both those photos imported from iPhoto and newer images loaded directly to Aperture.
Now I notice that wherever edited iPhoto images appear in Aperture, I now have two versions of each photo:  the original and an edited version.  I don't mind this in the Projects/Events, but I really only want the edited versions to appear in albums.  Worse yet, if I try to delete one of the "extra" images from an album, I get a scary warning message:
Are you sure you want to move the selection to the trash?
Some versions based on these master files are included in other albums.
These versions will be removed from all Albums, Books, Light Tables, Web Pages, Web Journals, Slideshows, MobileMe Albums, Flickr Albums, and Facebook Albums.
I thought that deleting from albums just removed a reference from the album, rather than removing the image from the library.  Clearly I have messed up.  I want to use Aperture exclusively for photo organizing and processing. I do not want extra versions of my images cluttering all my albums.
Should I recover my photo library from backup to the state prior to consolidating masters?
    What then?
Should I delete my iPhoto Library?  If so, how?  (Delete the iPhoto Library folder in Aperture?  In the Finder, delete the iPhoto Library file in the Pictures folder?)
    Please help!

It never ceases to amaze me how questions on the forum are like buses, none for an hour then three come along. Not your fault but this was asked just a couple of days ago.
When your developers issue a new version you need to save a copy of the source, we just zip it up. Then you carry on editing for the next version and zip that up and go again.
Then when a change is required to an older version, you dig it up, amend it and zip it again.
Not sure how it works with source control. The above is easier and reliable, assuming you manage it tightly.

I have multiple iPhoto albums, so this move is pushing thousands of pictures to each library. Why doesn't this come with a "No, Thanks!" option since I've ALREADY ensured the MobileMe albums were captured? I've never seen Apple force an action like this!
Worse - According to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4328, "photos you published to MobileMe from your library may be moved from their original events into a new event called "From MobileMe"." - so the forced move has probably scrambled my events in every library. The 'fix'? Search for matching photos and if not found, copy and paste into the desired event. It will take DAYS for me to recover from this undesired and ill-considered forced action.

Load your backup from just before this and when you launch iPhoto click on learn more. Go back to iPhoto and in the iPhoto preferences remove all references to MM and do likewise in the system preferences

  • How do I delete multiple copies of songs on my iPhone when my laptop's iTunes only has one copy of each?

    Hi, everyone.
I've seen many versions of this question, but mine has some key differences.
The problem is that my iPhone 4S has multiple copies of almost every song that I've selected to copy from iTunes. The easy answer is to delete all the music from the phone and then re-sync from the iTunes library, except that I don't sync, I manually manage, because I have a 9000 song iTunes library. According to iTunes on my laptop, I have 835 songs on my phone, but there are actually over 2000 on the phone due to the duplicates. The fact that the duplicates do not show up in the iTunes library means I also cannot use the "Show Duplicate Items" tool.
I'm thinking that the only two solutions are:
    1. Manually slide and delete all 1200+ dupes on the phone
    2. Delete all music from the phone and then go back through the library and cherry pick what I want on the phone. This seems okay, but I don't know why this happened, so I'm afraid it will happen again.
I'd be thankful for any advice!

The cause was probably a USB glitch during a sync or when copying. The music resides on the phone in separate files. A master file contains a database with an index to the music, an entry for each track and a "pointer" to the file containing the track. Somehow the index got corrupted with duplicate entries. It's likely that the music itself wasn't duplicated, but some tracks had more than one entry in the database. I've seen this happen when syncing (rather than manually managing) also. In my case deleting the track from the Music tab in iTunes, syncing, then adding it back fixed it.
A related problem I've seen is an album may be split, with some tracks in each of 2 or more album entries in the listing. Fixed the same way.
