MobileMe and IDLE-comands in Mac OS X Mail

Hello,
there is a bug in Mac OS X Mail: If I go in "preferences", choose "Accounts", choose my MobileMe-Account, choose "extended" and activate the option "Use the IDLE-command if the server supports it" there will not be any more a acoustic signal for incoming eMails in Mail.
Is any body out there who has the same problem?
Please also forward this Problem to the Apple-Feddback-Page for the reason that this bug will be fixed in Mac OS X 10.5.7. by Apple.

Note that: 1) we don't know that this is a bug and not a problem with your system, and 2) we don't have any idea what will be in the 10.5.7 update, so this statement is extremely speculative and thus violates the rules of this forum. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up getting removed.

Does anyone know when MobileMe will be able to sync to Outlook 2011 (on MAC) SP1?  Microsoft claim that it would have worked if Apple hadn't changed the mobileme calendar suite...
I know Outlook 2011 can sync via iTunes, but that's no help to me...

  • I seem to have 2 Apple IDs, one on my MacBook Pro and another on my devices.  If I switch from MobileMe to iCloud on my Mac (under the apple logo) will my devices work and sync in iCloud.  I have no idea how I go 2 IDs

Can I get rid of one  ID?  How do I do that?

    one on my MacBook Pro
That's not an Apple ID. That is your admin account which you can view in System Preferencs > Accounts or Users & Groups.

Just use your current Apple ID when you setup your iCloud account that you use for your devices.

  • Syncing iPhone to both MobileMe *and* Mac w/ merged data

I'm almost sure I've gotten this working before, but for the life of me, I can't seem to figure it out now. I want to sync my contacts and calendar to both my MobileMe account and my computer (which also syncs to my MobileMe account) without having two sets of contacts and calendar items on my iPhone. I want to do this because most of the time I use my iPhone in an always-connected mode (via either 3G or WiFi), so sync from my iPhone to MobileMe for additions and changes works great (and syncs down to my Mac without having to connect my iPhone), but I also often travel internationally where my iPhone is offline for long periods of time, so sync via a cable to my Mac is the only way I sync up contacts and calendar. I don't want two completely separate sets of contacts and calendar items on my iPhone, I want them merged as one but still synced to both MobileMe and my Mac through iTunes.
Possible? If so, what are the steps to make it work?

If you do both, then it will give you two copies.

I am a new mac user and I switch to mac due to the graphics that it brings. I do website in pc and I heard iweb is the best.NOW i heard that iweb will be discontinue. so what is the best application there for website using MAC OSX lion?

It is now confirmed  that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

  • IP device tracking and idle timer problem

    Hi,
We are deploying 802.1X in our network and have encountered problem with a type of payment terminal.
The problem is that the terminal do not 'speak' to the network after the first initial DHCP request, the terminal waits for incoming packets from a counter to start the payment process. After the idle-time the MAC is flushed from the switch and the port is not authorized any more.
To solve this we set 'authentication control-direction in' on the port and use 'ip device tracking' to keep the client on the network, ip device tracking sends an arp request every 30 seconds to clients.
Our ISE is sending Radius:Idle-Timeout = 300 and the timer start to count down when the client is authenticated.
In Wireshark, I can see that the ARP request is going out and the ARP reply coming back in but this does not update the inactivity timer for the client. So after 5 minutes the port is gone, and there is no way to get the port up again from the network. Traffic from the client brings up the network.
This looks like a bug to me, anyone seen this, or a similar behaviour?
    Running:
    ISE 1.2p6
    IOS 12.2(55)SE6
From Trustsec 1.99 Wired 802.1X Deployment Guide:
Tip Enable IP Device Tracking with inactivity timers to keep quiet endpoints connected. When IP Device Tracking is enabled, the switch periodically sends ARP probes to endpoints in the IP Device Tracking table (which is initially populated by DHCP requests or ARP from the end point). As long as the endpoint is connected and responds to these probes, the inactivity timer is not triggered and the endpoint is not inadvertently removed from the network.

  • ICloud, mobileMe and Snow Leopard

    Hi all,
Today I upgraded my iPad to the new iOS5, and was asked  to create an iCloud account, which I did,   But Snow Leopard does not accept the iCloud id and passworld or the (new) mobileMe email address and password. what's up.???
    K
    Some background info:
I needed to change my Apple ID from MYNAME to [email protected] (I used the Apple ID web site to do that)  so far  everything was fine.    But then my MobileMe account didn't not work on the iPad (Mail)  So I tried to use my old username, but got a message that it was taken!! what gives????   Ok I can live with a new email address since I'm the only one who used it in the past. So I go on to create a new mobileMe email account, but now Snow Lepord dosen't accept my MobileMe nor the iCloud id  !!!!!!
I'm not sure when I'll upgrade to Lion, Help!!! How do I sync my stuff? Calendar etc. I used to the MoblieMe sysn for that.

For now, you need Lion to use the full functionalities of iCloud. Apple hasn't revealed any plan to bring iCloud to Snow Leopard yet, but there are rumors.
You can, however, use your iCloud email address with any IMAP client : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.(I haven't tested it since I don't run Lion, but I think this would include Mail 4.5 from Snow Leopard. )
But Snow Leopard does not accept the iCloud id and passworld or the (new) mobileMe email address and password. what's up.???
Just to be sure : by iCloud ID, you mean the one you created from your iPad just after upgrading, and by new mobileMe address, you mean the @me.com email address you created afterwards, right ? Or do you mean you had a paying mobileme subscribtion before ?
And you're entering these infos in the MobileMe preference pane in System Preferences ?
So I go on to create a new mobileMe email account, but now Snow Lepord dosen't accept my MobileMe nor the iCloud id  !!!!!!
If you enter your iCloud ID in the MobileMe preference pane in Snow Leopard, it won't work ; as I said, it is not supported. If you enter your new @me.com email address, it won't work either, since it's a iCloud email address.
I'm not sure when I'll upgrade to Lion, Help!!! How do I sync my stuff? Calendar etc. I used to the MoblieMe sysn for that.
You are a Gmail user, so you can sync your mail, contacts and calendars natively and wirelessly between your Mac and iPad : http://www.google.com/sync/mac.html for the Mac and http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252 for your iPad.
If you want the other features of iCloud (Photo Stream, Find my friends, backups to the cloud for your iPad, Back to my Mac) you'll have to upgrade to Lion or wait till Apple updates Snow Leopard with iCloud integration, if they do.

  • Old Host - now on MobileMe and I'Life 09 to create IWeb

Originally, I signed up with a Host and subsequently they gave me an e-mail with my company extension i.e. info@_______. I developed my website on IWEB 08 only to discover that I was unable to download to an FTP server so I upgraded to IWEB 09...however, if I stay with my original host - I understand that I will not be able to use certain features i.e. hit counter, comments, etc. OK so....I signed up for MobileMe....now where do I go from here....Shall I publish my site through mobileme but then what about my old host who is also looking after my e-mail address....shall i call them and have them direct my info to .mac (I want to retain my current e-mail address etc.) I have not technically published my site but I do have it in a folder on my desktop to make changes?? I just don't know what to do first in order to avoid the "hard lesson learning curve" I have been challenged with up to this point. Ultimately, I would like all of my eggs in one basket - hosting/e-mail/ilife/iphone etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated....!!! Thanks.

You need to publish your site to MobileMe and then forward your domain name to your site published at MobileMe.
You need to find out if your hosting company offers CNAME forwarding and then you need to go to your MobileMe account and enter your domain name into the personal domain name settings. Then go to the DNS settings at your host and set up a new CNAME so that you forward your domain name to web.me.com. You can still keep the same e-mail address with no problem.
If you are unsure about any of this then contact your domain name registrar/hosting company.
You also don't need to publish to a folder if you want to publish to MobileMe and forward your domain name.

Have trouble cutting (the delay) picture and sound when Link Mac Book Pro with the TV via the Apple TV Is there a solution to the problem.
(this problem is when I follow films in the sites and forums or watch the live broadcast of certain programs by using the browser Safari)
I want a solution TV Apple made meI feel disappointed

Has anyone else encountered or solved this problem?  Same thing is happening for me with a new MacBook Pro, 13" i7 and an Echo Audiofire 4.  It's not even clear to me from searching if this is the processor idling or the firewire port hardware.  Only thing clear to me from testing is that it does have something to do with using an audio interface - I don't get this noise plugging in my external hard drive, but I still hear it if I daisy-chain the hd through my interface.  Any help or recommendations appreciated - do pc firewire ports have this issue too?

  • MobileMe and Using POP mail access

    Hi guys and girls
I currently use .Mac with Mail and have set up Mail to access .Mac email using the POP.
I assume that MobileMe and it's push eMail feature is based on IMAP but it doesn't actually state what settings we need to use.
Does anyone know? Should I set up my Mail.app to use the IMAP in readiness for MobileMe?
Any help or guidance you can give would be greatly appreciated!

  • How to change to MobileMe and set up multiple mailboxes

My IPhone is currently set up with my desk top computer email server as my primary mail server on my IPhone and I want to change it to MobileMe and add some inboxes for that account. How do I do that?

A MobileMe account is accessed as an IMAP account. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail app and all server stored mailboxes are kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.
Unless your other email account is an Exchange or IMAP account, you won't be able to do the same with the other account. Server stored mailboxes are not available with a POP account.
The only way to have the same mailboxes on your iPhone that are available with Mail.app on your Mac is with an Exchange or IMAP account with server stored mailboxes with the account.

  • MobileMe and iCloud accounts in Mail on my iPhone

In Oct 2011 a user wrote:
"I updated to iCloud and now I have both MobileMe and iCloud accounts in Mail on my iPhone 4s. I don't have the option to delete the MobileMe account so now I have two of the same account under different names. How do I delete the MobileMe and keep the iCloud?"
The following response solved that users issue:
"Open the MobileMe preferences in System Preferences, sign out. Open the Mail, Contacts, Calendars preferences and either turn off the MM account or delete it. The MM account will disappear at the end of June 2012.  You can delete any MM account you have currently turned on in your iPhone's settings."
I have the same issue, and that helpful response does not apply in my situation.  On my Mac, I am signed out of my MobileMe account; the Mail, Contacts, Calendars preference does not show a MobileMe account, just iCloud.
On my iPhone, Mailboxes in Mail shows my MobileMe address and iCloud entries - both mailboxes/accounts show the same folders and messages. Also, in Settings' Mail, Contacts, Calendars the Accounts does not have a MobileMe entry, just iCloud.
Mailboxes in Mail on my iPad 2, on the other hand, does not show the MobileMe address; it only shows the iCloud entry.
Any recommendations on how to remove the MobileMe entry on my iPhone?

Don't count on it!  Both my iPad and iPhone4S are on 5.1 and both are having problems right now!

  • I have bought a new Iphone 4S and also own a Mac pro, also IPad.        I did not install find my phone on the IPad, my IPad has either been misplaced (have tore the house up looking for it) or it has been stolen is there any way I can find where it is at

I resently purchased the New IPhone 4S, and I have a mac Pro, plus a IPad.  I have misplaced my IPad or it has been stolen is there any way by using Find My phone it can be located Thanks Look for My IPad

Unless you set up MobileMe / Find My iPad on it before it was lost/stolen, then no, there isn't any way to locate it. If you did set up MobileMe on it then you could try locating it either via me.com on a computer or Find My iPhone / Find My iPad on a another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or MobileMe disabled on it.
If you think that it was stolen then you should report it to the police. As a safety precaution you should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

  • Syncing iPhone with MobileMe and iCal

I know that when I'm set up right the changes I make on one device (iPhone, iCal, MobileMe) sync to all other devices. Here is my question. iPhone calendar *****; so, at work I want to be able to create calendar events on my personal Mac and sync through iTunes (Mac will not be connected to internet and I can't access MobileMe from work computer). I need to be able to create recurring events that are custom (beyond the bare-basic the iPone calendar offers).
Can I use the option to sync with iCal through iTunes while Mac is not connected to the internet and still use MobileMe? I have tried this but keep getting duplicate calendar and contacts entries.
Do I have to use one or the other?

Doing both does nothing but duplicate the calendars and calendar events on your iPhone. When doing both, each is synced and stored separately and differently on the iPhone. The calendars and calendar events synced direct with iCal via the iTunes sync process are stored separately and not synced over the air with your iPhone and vice-versa.

  • Mail 4.3 and IDLE command in IMAP

    Hello!
I have recently discovered how to 'mimic' mobile push email on my Snow Leopard Mail.app using the IDLE command. Still I have some problems, and I would like to understand why:
I have latest Snow Leo installed, with Mail 4.3.
I have 5 email accounts on Mail.app, all set on IMAP:
    MobileMe
    2x Gmail
    2x Exchange 2007 University server.
I have activated IDLE command on MobileMe and the two Gmail, but in the two exchange emails I don't have the option to activate it (in preferences). Check for new messages is set to MANUALLY.
All accounts have been set up AUTOMATICALLY by mail.app.
    They work as follow:
MobileMe pushes email in a matter of a second. I send it (from a test account) and I have it in mail.app
For all other accounts I have some issues.
5 minutes ago gmail was NOT receiving pushed emails. I had to Get Mail manually. Yet, the two exchange 2007 emails got the emails pushed in a matter of seconds.
I then quitted mail.app and restarted it. Now Gmail pushes in a matter of seconds, while the Exchange servers no longer push...
Am I doing something wrong? Could anybody help me with this?
    Many thanks!

    FYI:
Exchange 2007 emails: 'push' works perfectly when setting up the mailbox as IMAP and not as Exchange 2007. This implies a little more work (as you will have to manually select Trash and Junk mail folders) and it won't automatically set up calendar and task sync. Yet, if like me you use these mailboxes only for emails, this is the way to go.
I hope this thread will help someone!
