MobileMe calendar and subscriptions

I have sync'd my MobileMe account with my Mac and iphone. I can create an event from any one and it shows up on the other two. I'm having trouble making my subscriptions show up on my MobileMe account. When I create a subscription on my Mac, locate it in my MobileMe account, it doesn't show up on my MobileMe calendar. It shows up on my Mac and my iphone, though. So, events show up in all three places, a subscription made from my Mac does not show up in my MobileMe account... Can anyone help me? Thank you.

Hello there, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
I cannot answer you with 100% confidence, but I believe calendar subscriptions are not supported by the current version of the web-based MobileMe calendar application. There is a new beta version of the service out there that is currently being publicly tested; I don't know if this new version supports that feature or not. You might want to look into it, and maybe even give it a try, but remember that this is beta software, so it might be moderately unstable and unreliable.
Hope this helps

If I upgrade to Lion from Snow Leopard on my Mac will MobileMe calendar and mail integrate with iCloud?

There is no Mobile Me anymore. It has been gone for several years, now. However, your existing calendar and mail will integrate with iCloud if you enable it on your system.

  • Importing family MobileMe calendars and accounts into iCloud and living to tell the tale...

I have been staring at this for a long time and I hope this doesn't turn out to be as much of a brain twister as the early builds of MobileMe did. However, since I guess there must be plenty of us in the same boat, I figure this might be a good place to put together what we know and share our triumphs and disasters.
I have just installed 10.7.2 and the only mistake I have made to far was to hit the iCloud button and set iCloud up before I had read every single one of the FAQs, but then again, I haven't found any which address this problem. But I am sure that other people are already experiencing it.
We have a family MobileMe account, the main login being (we'll say) [email protected], which is the one I use; my wife uses [email protected] and our daughter uses [email protected]. The [email protected] is used purely for mail, contacts and calendars and nothing else worth mentioning.
    Now comes the tricky bit.
We have a separate AppleId, based on a non-Apple email, which we will call [email protected].
When I upgraded to 10.7.2 and set up iCloud for my iMac, I (unthinkingly) set up [email protected] as the iCloud account and then (after I had realised this maybe wasn't such a smart move) set up my iCloud Mail, Contacts and Calendars to sync to we'll say [email protected], although I didn't transfer my MobileMe Mail, Calendar and Contacts across. Because I have an existing MobileMe account, this data is still associated with MobileMe.
The 64 dollar question is this: can I set up the two other iMacs in this house to use the [email protected] AppleId, set their iCloud emails to perhaps [email protected] and [email protected], then transfer all the MobileMe accounts across to the [email protected] addresses and keep all the data separate? Or is it the case that you can only run one set of mail, contacts and calendars from a single AppleId?
    Or…
Are we going to have to create three separate AppleIds to run mail, contacts and calendars in iCloud and use [email protected] for the Apple Store.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated! My head hurts just from thinking about it all.
    Andrew

I cannot receive or send mail via iCloud in my Mac Mail app. I can do both by going into iCloud and accessing Mail and Calendars there.
Make sure Mail and Notes is selectded in System Preferences > iCloud
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Mail
    Same for Calendars.

  • Upgraded to new MobileMe Calendar and now very slow updates

    System:
    iPhone 3G, iOS 4.1
    Mac: 10.6.4
"Upgraded" to the new MobileMe Calendar.
Now BusyCal, iCal, MobileMe and iPhone do not sync quickly (sometimes takes 30 minutes for iPhone or more). Sometimes I need to launch iCal to get MobileMe to update. On the iPhone need to leave on for a long time or turn on and off.
I think I've gone through all the conversion steps and FAQs: Apple's, MobileMe, Mac, iPhone and BusyCal.
Maybe I was just spoiled with iPhone via Airport.
    Any comments/suggestions?
    Thank you.

I'm seeing that problem as well and I can't figure out what why it's slower. I figured it's a bug so I reported the problem at Apple's iTunes Feedback page.
On the other hand, iTunes 9 converts MP3s to AAC format at least twice as fast as iTunes 8 did, which is a very welcome improvement.

  • New Time Zone Issue with MobileMe Calendar Upgrade

I'm having strange things happen with sending/receiving "invitations" to people in other time zones.
Prior to this MobileMe calendar upgrade, sending/receiving invitations worked fine. I would schedule an event (obviously in my time zone), and if I invite a friend in a different time zone, the event would show up on her Google Calendar at the proper time. Between iCal and Google Calendar, the time zone translation was working properly. Likewise, when she scheduled an event and sent me an invitation, the event showed up in iCal at the proper time for me.
But now, after simply upgrading MobileMe calendar, events from me to her show up at the wrong time! It's as if the time zone translation is no longer occurring. Oddly, events that she sends to me still work correctly.
I have "Turn on time zone support" enabled in iCal, MobileMe calendar, and on the iPhone.
So this very nice feature that was working previously seems to have broken with the MobileMe calendar upgrade.
Has anyone else seen this, or (hopefully) solved it?
    Thanks!
    Jim

  • New mobileme calendar

I upgraded to the new mobileme calendar and now when I open ical I have 2 calendar groups. 1 group called "on my mac" and one for "mobileme". I don't understand why there are 2. Before I had just 1 calendar on iCal and it was automatically synced with mobileme. Now when I add an event am I supposed to add to mobileme or "on my mac" or both? Anyone know how this is supposed to work?

    Greetings,
You may want to go to the New Calendar section on the MobileMe support page and review it's contents. It has good information on the function of the New Calendar: http://www.apple.com/support/mobileme/
The "On My Mac" section are local calendars that exist only on the computer.
__Add calendars here if you want them to only be visible on this specific Mac
The "MobileMe Account" section are server based calendars that appear on MobileMe, your computer, and any other computer/device to which you add your MobileMe account (this takes the place of syncing the calendar as the calendar simply appears on all these devices).
__Add / make changes to Calendars listed here to see the changes appear wherever this MobileMe account is used.
If you are seeing the same calendars listed under both sections follow this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3505
I deleted all my "On My Mac" calendars and only have the ones under the MobileMe category.
    Hope that helps.

  • View a MobileMe calendar via the web

I'd like to see my wife's MM calendar using Safari. I don't want to sync it to my computer or anything like that. If I type "me.com" in the address bar, I get a splash screen instructing me to set up MM on my iPhone, instead of the MM login page. The implication is that all interaction with MM should be done via syncing. But I have my own MM account, and I don't want to sync anything from my wife's account. I tried using the Atomic Web browser, spoofing it as desktop Safari, but none of the features of the MM calendar worked. Perhaps Atomic Web doesn't support the fancy JavaScript that MM evidently uses.
Any ideas on how to view someone else's MM calendar from the iPhone, given that they've given you permission and the MM password?

Your wife could publish her MobileMe Calendar and then you could subscribe to it on your iPhone.

  • Restore MobileMe calendars from Time Machine

The new MobileMe Calendar  and Time Machine don't play nice together. This Apple Tech Note says:
'Important: Do not rely on traditional methods for backing up calendar data, such as exporting the iCal database, Time Machine, MobileMe Backup, or iTunes backups of iOS devices. Any changes to the data in the cloud will be more up-to-date than data in those backups and override a restore done from those backups.'
So if you accidentally delete your calendars,  they are deleted on MobileMe: you restore the cached versions from TM, and MobileMe promptly brings them up to date by deleting them again.
However it is possible to restore from Time Machine by following the following steps:
Turn off your internet connection. Make sure that it really is completely off.
Restore from Time Machine. This should restore your calendars to list under your MobileMe username.
Now carry out this process with each calendar:
Select a calendar listed under your MobileMe login name.
From the File menu choose Export...>Export. An .ics file will be saved at your designated destination.
Create a new calendar with the same name as the one you've just exported from, choosing 'On My Mac'.
From the File menu choose Import... Select the .ics file and choose to import it into the calendar you just created (make sure you don't import it into the MobileMe version).
Now your calendars are listed under 'On My Mac' as well as under your MobileMe login name.
Reconnect to the internet. Your MobileMe calendars will disappear as before. Now carry out the following process with each of the 'On My Mac' calendars:
Select your 'On My Mac' calendar. From the File menu choose 'Export...' then 'Export...'; from the sub-menu. This will create an .ics file at the location chosen in the Export dialog.
From the File menu choose 'New Calendar' then your MobileMe login name in the sub menu.
A new calendar called 'Untitled' will appear in your sidebar under your MobileMe login name. Change its name to that of the calendar you exported.
From the File menu choose 'Import...' then 'Import...' from the sub-menu. A navigation pane will open: navigate to and choose your exported .ics file.
iCal will ask you where to import this to. Click the drop-down menu and select the MobileMe version of your calendar (make sure not to choose the 'On My Mac' version). Import.
Your calendar contents will appear in the MobileMe version of the calendar but this may take some time. You need to leave iCal running until the rotating icon at the top of the sidebar disappears.
You can now delete the 'On My Mac' version of the calendar (control-click it in the sidebar list and choose 'Delete').
You should back up your calendars periodically by exporting the .ics files as in step 1 above and keeping them safely.

    Kevin,
Can I use Time Machine to go back and restore my old calendars so I can find that data that I lost!
You may be able to find the individual events in Time Machine, but depending upon the number of "Files" in the "Events" folder, they may be difficult to identify.
I don't want to replace the information in my Calendars, only look back at some old ones!
The data will be located in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars folder, which (depending upon the number of calendars) will have corresponding folders with alpha/numeric names for each one of your calendars. Open the alpha/numeric folders and you will find an Info.plist file and an "Events" folder. You can use Text Edit to open the plist file, on your current calendars which will help you to identify/narrow down the correct calendar. The "Events" folder will contain separate event files for each event with icons that display the date of the event. It will help if you know the date of your lost event(s).
Use Time Machine to recover the individual event. If/when you find the event(s) restore to your Desktop, double click the event and import it into iCal.
Also, I did a Backup in iCal. Where are those files stored?
If you did a backup using iCal, and do not remember where you specified for the backup, use Spotlight to identify where the backup file was placed. Use .icbu for the search term.
    Good Luck.
    ;~)

  • Synching ONE MobileMe calendar with TWO iphones

I keep reading that it's possible to synch a MobileMe calendar with TWO iphones but cannot find out HOW to do so. I presume that SHARING a calendar is different from SYNCHRONISING a calendar. Sharing a calendar seems to me to be cumbersome in that it involves sending an invitation which then must be specifically dealt with by the recipient. SYNCHRONISING a calendar though presumably means updating a calendar entry automatically. It works with one iphone. How can it be made to work with two iphones? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Dave Hutch wrote:
Add the calendar on both phones as a MobileMe Calendar and use the same login information for both phones.
    That's it.
    http://www.apple.com/mobileme/setup/iphone_ipod.html
ANything you add will appear on the other phone and visa versa
my OG iPhone won't sync with my MobileME calendar. Is that because the OG phone can't be updated to ios4?
And if that's the problem is there any alternative for syncing the OG iPhone's calendar (which is now empty)?

  • Help: I "upgraded" MobileMe's calendar and now all google calendars gone

I had previously had multiple google calendar subscriptions that synced with iCal.
Having inadvertently let my MobileMe trial turn into a full year's subscription, I was checking out its features (which I really haven't used other than the gallery). When I was prompted to upgrade the MobileMe calendar to the new version, I did so.
When I went to iCal, now all of my calendar events have been converted to "on my mac" calendars (instead of my Google subscribed calendars).
When I go directly to Google Calendars, THEY ARE ALL GONE.
Is there any way to restore things to the way they were? I'm guessing I can use time machine to restore the iCal database, but not sure if that will then "push" the missing calendars to Google Calendar.
Help, please. Needless to say, I have turned off MobileMe syncing...

I had similar issues. All of my past events under my "Personal" calendar were not there. I went to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendars/Sync and changed the setting to "All Events" (other options are 2 Weeks Back, 1 Month Back, 3 Months Back, 6 Months Back). Not sure if this did anything or not.
I needed to see all my doctor appointments I had had over the past year (they still showed up on my desktop calendar, but not my iPhone). So I went in to each doctor appointment on the desktop, editing the name slightly, and it then appeared on my iPhone. This was a pain, but I got all my doc visits back on my phone so I can search for them. Note that repeating events in my Personal calendar still showed up. It was only solo events that would not display.
Seems like Apple made a mistake on this one.

  • I've an apple ID used to buy off iTunes and a mobileme account for the calendars and contacts. How can I move the calendars and contacts to the older apple ID and use it for iCloud?

I've an apple ID used to buy off iTunes and a mobileme account for the calendars and contacts. How can I move the calendars and contacts to the older apple ID and use it for iCloud?

If you remeber the password to that Apple ID then follow these steps
1 - Make sure you have an email address that is NOT an Apple ID
    2 - Go to AppleID.Apple.com
3 - Where it reads Manage Apple ID - Sign in
Once you are signed in want to make sure the email address you are wanting to use is NOT set up as a "Recovery/Rescue" email for this account.
[To check this - Main page where you see Primary ID - below do you see the email address you want to use listed towards the bottom? Yes - Delete / No - Good ./. If made any adjustments "Save" Next on the left select "Password & Security" - Answer your security questions you set up "if you have any" then scroll towards the bottom and check to see if you see the email address you want to use. Yes - Delete / No - Good] <-> Also you can change your password on this page as well. Any adjustments made "Save"
Once this is done go back to the main page where you should read "Primary ID" and change the email address that is showing to the new email address youo want. "Save" Done
I learned this not to long ago and worked for me. Hope this helps you!

  • Link to MobileMe calendar subscriptions in Pages '09

I am working on a document with the end goal of sending out a PDF with links to subscribe to shared MobileMe calendars.
I am using Pages '09, version 4.0.5 (852), Mac OS X 10.6.7, and the new CalDAV MobileMe calendar. The problem is that every time I crate a link to the shared MobileMe webcal, Pages 'auto-corrects' the URL to begin with "http://" and breaks the link.
How I am currently creating the links:
         - Select text
         - Click the Link tab in the Inspector window
         - Click the "Hyperlink" tab
         - Check the box to "Eable as a hyperlink"
         - Choose "Webpage" from the "Link To:" drop down menu
         - Copy and paste the link to the shared MobileMe calendar (webcal://www.me.com...) in the URL: field.
Pages will automatically add in "http://" to the beginning of the URL.  After this, the link takes the reader to a blank webpage rather than adding a new subscribed calendar as expected.
I have found a work around:
         - Open Finder and navigate to the desired Pages document.
         - Copy the Pages document
         - Rename the Pages document to end in ".zip" (without quotes) and choose "Use .zip" when prompted
         - Open the new ZIP file
         - Open the extracted folder (should have the same name as the ZIP file)
         - Open index.xml with TextEdit or another plain text editor
         - Use the Find and Replace feature (⌘F in TextEdit) to replace all occurrences of "http://webcal://" with "webcal://" (without quotes)
         - Save and Close index.xml
         - Go back to Finder, open the folder that was created by unzipping the the Pages document
         - Select all items in the folder (⌘A)
         - Choose File > Compress [number] Items from the menu bar
         - Rename the newly crated "Archive.zip" to "[document title].pages" (without quotes). Put the name of your document in place of [document title]
         - Open the newly created Pages document and immediately choose Share > Export... from the menu bar
Does anyone know of a more elegant way to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    NChiu

I can't help you on the not having http:// part of the equation. One simpler step for you though is after you have made all your changes, instead of selecting everything in the folder and archiving, just add the extension .pages to the folder.
I know it isn't much help, but maybe a little.

  • How do I sync my calendar and contacts with the calendar and contacts on my phone? My laptop is Mac OS X, 10.6.8 and still has MobileMe on it.

My MacBook Pro is a few years old and I recently got an iPhone 4S. I want to know how I sync my calendar and contacts with the calendar and contacts on my phone? My laptop is Mac OS X, 10.6.8 and still has MobileMe on it. I tried to download iCloud but then I'd have to download and pay for a new OS.
If anyone could help me with this that would be great.

    Hello Fiona,
Congratulations on your new iPhone!  You can sync information to your iPhone from your MacBook Pro using the Info tab in iTunes when your iPhone is connected.  Use the steps in the following article:

  • Outlook 2007 Calendar and MobileMe

I have one need with this which is synced calendar across iphone 3G, Dell laptop running vista ultimate and mobileme. At first it worked perfectly.
This morning I noticed that Outlook would show any appointment made on iphone or on mobileme calendar but then delete them almost immediately. Even opening the appointment (made on iphone/mobileme ) in Outlook while it was still visible and clicking save and close did not work. Like other users I got the message that a data file had not closed properly but I had got that occasionally from Outlook before iphone 3g or mobileme were used with the laptop. A strange thing is that appointments made in Outlook are synced with iphone and mobileme calendar. At the moment it seems that Outlook isn't happy receiving data in the form it gets it from mobileme but will send it happily and effectively. Being generally suspicious I look warily at Redmond (I can remember the non fatal error message in DOS). But the balance would seem to say that this is an Apple issue: it needs swift and decisive resolution.
    Message was edited by: generallysuspicious

An update: did the scanpst routine. It only reported minor errors. Repaired anyway. Problem persists but I noticed a new twist. While the appointment made on the iphone disappears from Outlook shortly after appearing following sync, the appointment is visible in the TO Do Bar for longer. Once Outlook is shut down and restarted it also disappears from there.
If this issue could be resolved my needs of calendar management would be met. As it stands the Mobileme is usable but does necessitate updating Outlook manually. I suppose I could abandon Outlook. Maybe the guys in infinity loop are getting even with Redmond?

  • Using iCloud (for calendar and contacts) AND MobileMe for Keychain

Does anyone who's migrated to iCloud know if it's possible to sync Address Book and Calendar through iCloud and the Keychain through MobileMe (on a separate account)?
    Situation is as follows:
I have two accounts - one MobileMe (which I use today for calendar and contact syncing) and an Apple ID (which I used for iTunes)
I wish to convert the iTunes account to an iCloud account
That leaves me with my un-converted MobileMe which I'd like to continue to use for Keychain syncing until Apple puts that functionality in iCloud or they retire MobileMe.
I guess - the nub of the question is - is it still possible to access the MobileMe preference pane and put in a different account when iCloud is up and syncing?
    Thanks in advance, Jonathan.

    SaltSeaShark,
I've looked at the iDisk and there's no way to do it automatically.  However when you're back at your home iMac, you can copy the files that you find in ~/Library/Keychains onto your iDisk.  Then when you're at your friend's iMac, you can copy the *.keychain files in your iDisk to the ~/Library/Keychain folder on your friend's machine (in the account that you're using).
That way - you can open your keychain locally - although it won't sync backwards and forwards.  An alternative is to use a third-party product such as 1Password - of which there's an iPad app - as well as a web interface (when combined with Dropbox).
    Hope that helps - Jonathan.
