MobileMe contacts to iCloud account

Hello,
Before merging to iCloud I backed up all my MobileMe contacts on my mac.
How do I recover those contacts to my iCloud contact list???
Thank you for your assistance
Jonathan

Hello Jim,
It took forever. With MobileMe, it was immediate.
Up in the cloud the clocks seem to tick differently and time is relative, so we will just have to learn to be patient ...
To be serious, the first iCloud experiences seem to be different on the different continents, depending on the time zone you are in. In Europe there does not seem to be so much traffic up in the Cloud during day time  as in the states,
Léonie

iPhone 1 IOS 4.2.1 not retaining revised email password on mobileme mail (now iCloud) account.  Accepts new code and verifies correct in settings but rejects when attempt to download mail as password incorrect.  Reversion to settings shows accepted change not retained in memory.  Starred password in memory appears unchanged from mobile me mail and not synced with recent icloud change.

  • Can MobileMe alias become iCloud account

I have a mobileme alias that I would now prefer to use as my main icloud account. Is that possible?

Well, Apple has an answer: "Once you create an alias it cannot be made into its own account."

  • Logging into MobileMe using my icloud account

I bought a used macpro 2008 and need to access my ical. It only has mobileme and says that my username/password is wrong. How do I log into my icloud from here or is it possible?

MobileMe feature is No more available and supported by Apple and to use your iCloud Account and sync your Calendar on Mac you need to have Mac Os x Lion (10.7.5 or Later).

But you can try to login to http://www.icloud.com/ using Safari Browser and try to access your Calendar from there.

  • Icloud account Help not receiving a change password link to email address

Good day Forum.  I am going to explain my situation as concise and detailed ..any help would be greatly be appreciated.  I had created an appled id account for my daughter when she got her phone for christmas under that apple id as months passed my wife starting adding contacts under icloud account.  Til then she had accumalted about 300 contacts under my daughter phone (icloud account [email protected])  My question is when i went under that account and changed the primary email address to my wifes aol email.  I did this because i created my daughter a new apple id and wanted her old apple id simply changed to my wifes email address.  Does it delete that account and totally create a new apple id?  When i changed the email address i thought the account (contacts would simply just be associated with the new email address.  As i added the new email address to my wifes new iphone, all the 300 contacts do not show.  I have sent hunddres of forgot password links to the old associated email address ([email protected]) and never receive a password reset. I am trying to regain that icloud account because it is under theere were my wife had all her 300 contacts.  Please help

Contact the Apple account security team for your country to verify your identity and ask for assistance: Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security.  The call should be free of charge.  If your country isn't listed, contact iTunes store support by filling out this form: https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • I have one paid mobileme account, few days ago I have done transition to iCloud and all my iDisk, contact... gone. Today I tried login to iCloud application on my windows pc but can not, it said "this apple id is valid but is not iCloud account"

I have one paid mobileme account, few days ago I have done transition to iCloud and all my iDisk, contact... gone. Today I tried login to iCloud application on my windows pc (64bit) but I can not, it said "this apple id is valid but is not iCloud account". I can login on website icloud.com but can not login into iCloud application installed on pc. What's wrong?
I have tried another free apple ID and logged on. That's funny when I can login with free account and can not login with paid mobileme account!!!!!!

By the way - the only reason I downloaded iCloud is because Apple deleted the backup option from iTunes.  Since iCloud doesn't work, I guess we have no way to protect our iTunes music collection.  Absolutely stupid.

  • Should I be able to use MobileMe features if I have an iCloud account?

I recently purchased an iCloud account.
Should I be able to post a webpage using iWeb with iCLoud?
When trying to publish the page i'm asked to sign in to mobileme.  I thought maybe icloud would be sufficient.

MobileMe closed over a year ago, and iCloud does not provide website hosting services. iWeb has not been updated for several years and is no longer sold or supported, so it still offers the non-functional MobileMe option.
Up to and including iWeb '08, it was only possible to publish to other hosts by 'Publishing to a folder' and then uploading that local folder to a website host using a separate FTP client. From iWeb '09 an FTP method was built-in, making it easier to publish to a host other than MobileMe.
In order to upload your existing site in iWeb '09 and above:
Click on the name of the site in the sidebar: the publishing settings pane will open. Set 'Publish to' to 'FTP'. Enter the name of the site and a contact address (if desired).
In the 'FTP Server Settings' section you will need to know the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. Your site will be published in a folder with its name at root level of the server, with an index.html file at root level (which will overwrite any index.html file which may be there already). The 'Directory/Path' field may need to include a path such as '/webspace/' or 'ht_docs/' - this is dependent on your hosting service and they should tell you this. If you want to publish within a folder you can add that to the path.
You can then click the 'Test connection' button so that iWeb can check that it can get access to your server space. You should enter the URL of the site in the 'URL' field so that rss feeds and internal links have the correct address.
To publish using an earlier version of iWeb:
From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.
You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contents of the folder to your server.Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.

  • MobileMe and iCloud accounts

After installing iOS5, I now have a MobileMe account AND an iCloud account in the mail settings on my iPad 2.  This means double the mail.
This did not happen on my iPhone 4, which only shows an iCloud account.
Can I safely delete the MobileMe account on the iPad?
    TIA!
    Bob

    hey everybody!
i have the same problem with my iphone; in the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" settings there is only a listing for iCloud, but when i look at my mailboxes, there is a listing for MobileMe as well as two for iCloud. i also would like to delete the MobileMe-mailbox, but it does not appear in the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" list.
i also rebooted my iOS device but the problem is still here

  • Can 2 iCloud accounts share same Calendar, Contacts, and Photos? (family)

    iPhone #1 (Husband)
    iPhone #2 (wife)
    iMac (Both)
We do not want to share the same email or reminders... email is personal, but we would like to share photos, contacts, and calendars. Can two iCloud accounts be shared with the same iMac and by doing so the iMac syncs the two accounts in Calandar, Contacts, Photos and merges the two accounts to the one program resulting in both phones containing the same Calendars, Contacts, and Photos???
Any ideas, tips, tricks, or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I posted pretty much the same question on the forum a week [How to share contacts in iCloud?] and did mention that there the subscribe functionality for Calendar (replacement of iCal) works fine, but the issue with Contacts is becoming more critical (as Apple gave up the MobileMe support)... I did increment the count of 'I have the same question' hopefully increasing sight of Apple support team...

  • MobileMe and iCloud accounts in Mail on my iPhone

In Oct 2011 a user wrote:
"I updated to iCloud and now I have both MobileMe and iCloud accounts in Mail on my iPhone 4s. I don't have the option to delete the MobileMe account so now I have two of the same account under different names. How do I delete the MobileMe and keep the iCloud?"
The following response solved that users issue:
"Open the MobileMe preferences in System Preferences, sign out. Open the Mail, Contacts, Calendars preferences and either turn off the MM account or delete it. The MM account will disappear at the end of June 2012.  You can delete any MM account you have currently turned on in your iPhone's settings."
I have the same issue, and that helpful response does not apply in my situation.  On my Mac, I am signed out of my MobileMe account; the Mail, Contacts, Calendars preference does not show a MobileMe account, just iCloud.
On my iPhone, Mailboxes in Mail shows my MobileMe address and iCloud entries - both mailboxes/accounts show the same folders and messages. Also, in Settings' Mail, Contacts, Calendars the Accounts does not have a MobileMe entry, just iCloud.
Mailboxes in Mail on my iPad 2, on the other hand, does not show the MobileMe address; it only shows the iCloud entry.
Any recommendations on how to remove the MobileMe entry on my iPhone?

Don't count on it!  Both my iPad and iPhone4S are on 5.1 and both are having problems right now!

  • HT204053 I transferred my MobileMe account to my iCloud account but I would be keen to switch this to my Store Purchases Apple ID.  Is there an easy way to do this?

I transferred my MobileMe account to my iCloud account but I would be keen to switch this to my Store Purchases Apple ID.  Is there an easy way to do this?

You can't merge accounts or transfer iTunes purchases from one Apple ID to another: but there is no problem about using two IDs.
Use your ex-MobileMe email address (which is also an Apple ID) for iCloud for syncing email, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and PhotoStream.
Use your other Apple ID as before for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match.
There's no conflict about doing this, and you won't even notice as Keychain will log you in with the correct ID in each case. It's also better security not to have your iTunes login also your email address, given the number of complaints about hacked iTunes accounts.

  • My old MobileMe account surfaced when I was on a support call. I didn't discover it until the case was closed. How can I replace this obsolete account with my current iCloud account?

My old MobileMe account surfaced when I was on a support call. I didn't discover it until the case was closed. How can I replace this obsolete account with my current iCloud account?

Do you mean that you were using the Apple ID which is your ex-MobileMe address? It's still an Apple ID, even though MobileMe itself is dead, and there's nothing to stop you from using it as an ID with Support, or logging in here or in iTunes with it. You should make sure you have a functioning non-Apple email address associated with it.
Did you migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud before 1 August last? If so, you can set up an iCloud account using it, or if you have already set up a new and separate iCloud account you can still log in with it in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts and Calendars so that it runs alongside your iCloud account.
If you didn't migrate you can still reactivate the address the same way.
Anything where you've logged in with the ex-MobileMe address, such as support for something you registered using it or a server such as iTunes, will need to continue using it.

  • HT204053 I started using iCloud on all my Apple products before MobileMe shut down, setting up a new ID and password to do that.  When MobileMe moved to iCloud, it became my primary account for iCloud and is interfering with everything I had done before.

I started using iCloud on all my Apple products, using a new password and ID, before MobileMe shut down.  Apparently I shouldn't have done that, because when MobileMe moved to iCloud, it automatically became my primary account and took over everything I had previously set up on my iCloud account.  I would like to eliminate the MobileMe account, but I can't find a way to do it.  Anyone have any experience with this?  It's making me very frustrated with iCloud.

The primary account is the one signed into in System Preferences>iCloud (or on an iPhone Settings>iCloud). If it isn't the account you want to use, simply sign out and the sign back in with the required account. On signing out your data will be removed from your Mac but not from the iCloud server.
If you want to you can sign in with the other account in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts & Calendars - you can sync that account's email, contacts and calendars and they will appear alongside the equivalent data in the primary account.
The main differences are that the secondary account's email will not be 'pushed' but will be checked periodically, and the secondary account cannot use PhotoStream.

  • TS4097 we have multiple users in our family and multiple devices all sharing one itunes account.  i think we are all synced to one icloud account and it is a nightmare....contacts lost, text messags showing up on multiple devises etc.  how do we fix this?

We have our family sharing one itunes account.  we have 3 iphones, 2 macbook airs, 2 ipads and 1 mac.  I am not sure how we even got started on the icloud but somehow we did and everything is a mess.  The ipads are showing the text messages, the contacts are all combined, the apps that my duaghter downloads are appearing on all devices.  how do we fix this so contacts are not shared, messages are not shared and apps are not automatically synced to all devises?

You have two different issues going on.  You are getting each other's messages because you are sharing the Same Apple ID for iMessage.  This can be corrected by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive on add the devices and doing one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on all of your devices; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address on one of your devices, on all of the other ones tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID (so all devices will be using a different Apple ID for iMessage).  Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores.  It does not need to be the same as the ID you are using for iMessage, FaceTime and other services.
The second issue is that you are sharing the same iCloud account on your devices.  When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices connected to the account.  To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
First decide which device(s) will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one(s) that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else that you want to keep on the device(s), save these to the camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this device, not from iCloud.  The device(s) that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On [iDevice].  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a separate Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.  Repeat this process for all the devices that you need to migrate to new accounts.
When finished, to un-merge the data in your accounts you will have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).
