MobileMe data correct - want to sync to iCal

Hi All,
I'm having real problems on what seems like a fundamental requirement. I have setup MobileME and this is great, all my contacts are there and this syncs seamlessly with my iPhone - both ways. However, I have a iMac 24 and a MacBook Pro - I can't get MobileME data to populate my calendar or contacts (iCal or Address Book).
I've tried just about everything I can find on the web, Reset Sync Services in command line etc. But nothing works. I just want my MobileME to populate my iCal.
Please help, this is becoming exceedingly frustrating.
Regards,
Matt

After spending over one hour chatting with someone named Ryan on the MobileMe support page, I walked through step by step what I was instructed to do resyncing three more times and shutting down and restarting my MAC. I then used time machine and restored my ICal from an earlier date. Whatever happened to my computer and ICal before had now gone back to normal. If anyone has any ideas on what may have caused the problem, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks

  • How do I sync my ical, mobile me and my Macs?

Hi I have been looking on the forums and seem to have similar problems to others but not exactly the same, or the question hasn't been answered so apologies if it looks similar to other posts! Basically I have 2 intel macpros with 10.5.6 and an intel macbook with 10.4. Basically I have mobile me running and want to sync my ical so each Ical on each computer has the same information as is on mobile me. Unfortunately I use the syncing option in system preferences to sync ical but none of them seem to match (even the two intels with exactly the same os and specs)! I don't get it thankfully I am in my trial period for mobile me as I am spending so much time on what should be simple? Basically I just want it that on whatever computer I'm on I can put in cal events and put in attendees etc and then press sync in either system prefs and sync that with the calendar (including calendar groups) in mobile me and the other computers. My Computers are set to sync once an hour with mobile me but I have calendar entriesand new calendar groups that haven't appeared on some macs that are days old. Why does it work for some and not for others? Any help would be much appreciated!

Choose one of the Calenders on ONE of the computers OR the MobileMe as the Master / correct account.
The REINITAILISE the data of MobileMe within preferences on the computer defining the datatransfer correctly (in the advanced box of preferences). The synchronise iphone contacts and calender directly on-line to MobileMe.
I posted a question on this today, and gave my own reply !

I want to sync my iPad with my Apple Air.  How do I do that?

If you mean using iCloud, go to Settings>iCloud on your iPad (requires iOS 5 or higher), sign in with your Apple ID to create your iCloud account, then turn on the data you want to sync with iCloud.  Then go to System Preferences>iCloud on your MacBook Air (requires OS X 10.7.5 or higher), sign in with the same ID and check the data you want to sync with iCloud.

Not sure exactly what you mean.  The Kindle doesn't sync with your phone or pc directly.  It syncs with your online Amazon acct to know which books you own and where you are in the reading of them.  Then it updates the device you are using.   So if you have the Android Kindle app installed on your Razr, it is registered to your account, the app will sync with your Amazon account automatically.

  • MobileMe not is not sync with iCal

i desperatly need help. My iCal information is stored in the MobileMe clud and in my iPod Touch. But when i make syncronisation it just doesent appear in my iCal on mi iMac. I already deleted all the ical forlders and done some testings but have not succed. My iCal shows totaly empty wtih just two folders, Work and Personal. Is there someone that could help me get this fixed?
    Thank you.

Since your MobileMe account is expired, you'll have to sync directly from your computer until you renew.
Tap Settings, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and then select your MobileMe account.
Turn off syncing for the affected data by moving the slider to "OFF" for Calendars and Contacts. Touch the Stop Syncing button that will appear and wait for confirmation that the syncing has been turned off.
Connect to iTunes on your computer. When your iPod appears under devices, select it. In the main window, select the "Info" tab. Make the selections for contacts and calendars you want. Scroll down to the "Advanced" section and select the choices you want to have replaced with info from your computer. These selections apply only to your next sync. When you are happy with your selections, click the "Apply" button.

  • When i go to sync my apps with my computer it tells me  ''are you sure you want to sync apps ? all exsisting apps and there data on (iphone) will be replaced with the apps on this itunes library'' does this mean all my data will be lost if i continue ?

Regarding your broken, previously authorized computer, here's how that works:
You would authorize your new computer -- maybe you've done that already.  Then you will have two computers authorized.  Apple allows you to have up to five computers authorized at any time.  If you get to five, you can then go to your account details in iTunes and remove all authorizations.
Bear in mind this is not saying you can synch to more tham one library.  Razmee209 and gdgmacguy's comments above are correct.  But if Apple only allowed you to authorize one computer at a time, then having a broken computer would mean you could no longer use your Apple ID with iTunes.

It is normal to have a person with his birthday, anniversary and others key dates you want to link to such person, but the only one shows up is the birthday. How to be able to show all those dates linked to people in the agenda in the iCal?

    Hi,
I sugggest you try my application, Dates to iCal. It is shareware with a 2 week trial period.
Dates to iCal 2 is a replacement for Apple's birthday calendar for iCal. It has a range of features to allow the user to choose what, and what not, to sync to iCal from Address Book.
As well as automatically syncing birthday dates from Address Book, Dates to iCal 2 can sync anniversary and custom dates. It can set up to five alarms for each date in iCal and can also set different alarms for birthdays and anniversaries. It allows the option of only syncing from one Address Book group. This application also allows for the titles of the events sent to iCal to be modified to the user's preference.
    Best wishes

Is there a setting on the iphone that will allow ical entries on the iphone to sink to my other computers
    Thank-you

    Welcome to the Apple community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • I have changed computers and installed iTunes on my new computer. I want to sync my iphone now but the "sync" program indicates that it will remove all data on my phone and replace it with the newly installed itunes that does not have my information.

I have a new computer and have installed iTunes on it.
Now I want to sync my iphone but the new itunes on the new computer wants to remove everything on my niphone and replace it with what's on the newly installed itunes data but it does not have my data.
How can I sync the new itunes with my iphone and not have my phone data wiped out?
    Thanks,

There is no way to stop iTunes from doing exactly what it is designed to do.
The iPhone is designed to sync with one and only one computer.
If you have moved/copied your iTunes library from your old computer to your new one, then iTunes wiping your device is no problem.  You would simply sync and iTunes will put all the content back.

  • I want to cut and paste iCal entries on iPad.  Have seen a number of questions raised but no definitive answer - is it possible or not?  (I use Bento but that doesn't sync with ICal now so can use that solution)

No, the camera connection kit only supports the copying of photos and videos to the Photos app, it doesn't support copying content off the iPad. For your second camera instead of the SD reader part of the kit, does the iPad to camera cable not work with it for direct transfer to the iPad ?
For Lightroom and Nikon software again no - you can only install apps that are available in the iTunes app store on your computer and the App Store app on the iPad, 'normal' PC and Mac (OS X) software are not compatible with the iPad (iOS). There are some apps that perform fairly basic editing functions that are available in the store, but nothing as sophisticated as, for example, Lightroom.

    Hi, Abril_Perez17.
This may be related to a new feature embedded in iOS7 that shows all purchased music by default.  Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.  See if the issue ceases once the feature has been disabled.  This information is located on page 63 of the user guide below.

  • Only one-way data transfer in sync of iCal & PalmOne

My PalmOne Zire 31 is picking up the event info from iCal when I sync but iCal is not registering events from my Palm. I didn't have problems before, but I had to erase my hard drive and move data to the external drive. I'm now using Leopard. I restored my data on the iCal but can't figure out why when I sync that my events on my Palm don't show up on my iCal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no way to help you, essentially. This is a Leopard compatibility issue,* and it is not going to go away anytime soon.
Take a look at this thread to see what your options are, at the present time.
*actually, it is one of several issues…

Is it possible to recover ical data lost in a sync?

Your only bet is to resotre from the Time Machine backup. However when you do this the sync process will promptly delete the calendars again, so you need to work through the slightly convoluted method detailed in this page:

You need to copy everything form your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  it simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.
