MobileMe emails all show as unread

Heya Guys,
Since upgrading to MobileMe emails don't seem to be functioning for me as IMAP should. When I read an email on my Mac they still are flagged as a new message on the iPhone - same thing when done the opposite way around. It all worked fine previously when using dotmac.
Cheers.

Hi,
There seems to be a lag currently with the updates on read / unread status... That's why this happens. Once one of the devices has sent their updates to the server it shows right. Hope Apple will get this fixed soon. One more point on their bug-list for MobileMe.

  • TS3899 Yahoo email account showing "phantom" unread messages

I set up a "new to me" iphone 4 today and added a yahoo email account.  I cleaned the inbox, trash, and spam folders out before setting up account on phone.  Mail icon is showing 39 unread messages in that account and they are not showing in the inbox on the phone for me to clear out.

Mail -> Edit in upper right hand corner -> Mark All as read in lower left hand corner. This will clear the unread email number for the mail app.

  • BB off for a few days -- When turn on reconciled emails all show one date/time.

If I am away for a few days -- with the Blackberry off -- Then when I return and turn on the unit, it will reconcile email through my work blackberry server.  The emails that get downloaded at that time all show on my blackberry email listing as received at one time -- when the reconciliation occurred -- not the dates/times that the actual emails were written.  My work email (on my computer at work) will show the dates/times that the actual emails were written -- even though I also had been logged out from my work email for the time I was away.  This is a real pain for viewing / looking through and finding emails later on the device.  So now, I have to leave the unit on and plugged into the wall when away -- so my emails will show the right date/time on the device.  Is there a way to set things up so I don't have to resort to this? -- seems to me that there must be -- otherwise a lot more people would raise this concern.
    Thanks,

The last time I checked the incoming emails will always go by the date/time on the device itself. There is not a way to change this behavior.
Do you turn it off to conserve battery power? If so you can always place the device in Standby mode. The battery drains much slower in this mode and should last anywhere from 10-15 days.

  • Mail showing one unread message when all messages are marked as read

Wondering if anyone else was having any weird issues with their iCloud and unread count in the Mail app on their mac running lion? I can't seem to get rid of a phantom unread message. My iCloud account is fairly new so I don't have that many messages to go through so I know there is not an unread message any where. Any help would be appreciated
    Cheers,
    Rabah

I have had the same issue with my Microsoft exchange email after upgrading to Lion.  It's a bit annoying.  My iPad, Android Phone, and viewing it using a browser all show 0 unread, but Mail shows 3 unread.  I have tried deleting the account, rebuilding, and pawing through settings looking for something I missed. Nothing.  I actually had the same problem with my MobileMe email with Snow Leopard but I eventually permanently removed the account as other problems arose and just used it in my browser.
    Sorry I couldn't help but I hope it's resolved.

  • Read mail showing as unread on itouch.

Mail on itouch shows as unread even though I have read it on laptop.  There are over 5,000 e-mails all showing as unread.  Too many to delete on itouch.  How can I set it so that they show as read as they do on laptop/mail client?

It depends upon the type of account (IMAP/Exchange or POP3). If it in IMAP/Exchange account they will be synchronized among devices. I you have a POP3 account they are not synchronized and there is nothing yu can do except use webmail.

  • MobileMe emails read in mac mail (Lion) still show as unread on iPhone?

I have only noticed this problem since I upgrade to Lion on my macbook pro.  When I read an email message in Mac Mail (I have a mobileme account), it stays unread on my iPhone.  I have tried quitting and restarting Mail, quitting the app on my phone and reopening it, and nothing seems to get my phone to realize that I have already read the email.  The only thing that works is to "read" the mail again on my phone, which is frustrating when I have already gone through it on my computer.
What is interesting is that when I read a message on my phone, or mark it unread, these changes ARE reflected on my laptop.
I also just checked what happened when I read an email or marked it unread on me.com, and it behaves the same way - Mac Mail recognizes it, but my iPhone doesn't.
Any thoughts or ideas on how to fix this?  Thanks in advance.

I should add that this is not an issue of the badge telling me that I have mail and then when I open the app, it corrects itself.  The emails on my iphone actually appear unread until I read them again on the phone.

  • Why Outlook email messages show unreadable characters

When you receive a new email in Outlook, you may see unreadable characters in the email message body. This issue could be caused by one of the following reasons on Outlook client side:
The email you received is converted to plain text format or a different encoding by a virus scanner.
This always happens when you are using characters (Such as apostrophes, double quotes, dashes, and ellipsis) supported by the "Smart Quotes" feature. When the email you received is converted to plain text format or a different encoding by a virus
scanner, the character is converted from the ASCII character to a Unicode character, which is not supported on the recipient’s side.
To prevent this issue from happening, we can turn off the “Smart Quotes” Feature in Outlook:
    1. Open Outlook 2013.
    2. Click File > Options > Mail.
    3. Click Spelling and AutoCorrect button.
    4. In the Editor Options window, click AutoCorrect Options button to open the AutoCorrect dialog.
    5. Click AutoFormat tab, and then clear the check box before “Straight quotes” with “smart quotes” under Replace heading.
    6. Click OK.
The issue may be related to font substitution when a change is made to the Web Options in Microsoft Word.
If a change is made to the Web Options in Microsoft Word, registry data under the following key may be configured incorrectly:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Internet\Fonts
This problem has been seen to occur when the Latin string value under the \Fonts key was empty (no value).
We can check the Web Options setting in Word via:
    1. Start Word.
    2. Go to File > Options > Advanced.
    3. Scroll down to the General section, click Web Options button.
    4. Switch to Font tab.
To resolve the problem, we need to delete the \Fonts registry key. To do this, please follow:
    1. Exit Word.
    2. Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type regedit and press Enter.
    3. Navigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Internet\Fonts
    4. Right-click the Font key and select Delete.
    5. Click Yes and exit Registry Editor.
The sender used an e-mail program that did not mark messages with a language encoding (character set), or marked messages with an incorrect encoding setting.
In this case, we will see unreadable characters when we open the received message in our Outlook. For example, European regional characters (like German) require UTF-8 encoding protocol. So if the encoding in your environment is set to ASCII, the regional
    characters will not be available.
To resolve this issue, we need to change the encoding in Outlook to which will display your message correctly.
    1. Double-click to open the message you received.
    2. Click Actions button in the Move group under Message tab.
    3. Click Other Actions > Encoding.
    4. Click More and select the correct encoding setting for the email.
    5. After you finish reading the message, close the message, and click Yes button to save changes to the message.
When we send an email with Outlook, we can set Outlook to automatically select encoding for outgoing email messages to increase the possibility that the recipient receiving the message will see all the characters rendered properly, even if they run older
e-mail programs. By default, Outlook 2013 will automatically select an optimal encoding for outgoing e-mail messages. We can change the settings here in Outlook 2013: File > Options > Advanced > International Options section.
Something you may need to know when you set the encoding settings:
    * The Unicode (UTF-8) character enables the complete range of characters on all computers. It’s the official IANA code for the UTF-8 character encoding.
    * Western European (ISO) and Western European (Windows) character set can be read by almost all computers.
    * If you are using a language other than English, you must choose the correct character set for that language, or the characters you need will not be displayed correctly.

The "problem" is not really a problem. I send and receive emails fine. But the in the panel between the Inbox (message queue) and the reading pane this is displayed:
From Mozilla Support Forum <[email protected]> (white star)
Subject Toad-Hall posted an answer to your question "Why do received email messages show they are addressed to an address other than my own?"
Reply to [email protected] (white star)
    To [email protected] yellow star)
cfortso@gmail is the address of one of my contacts.
This glitch is not really bothersome, I just can't imagine why it happens.

  • Unread Emails in Outlook 2010 Clients shows both UNREAD AND READ emails when connected to Exchange 2013 Server SP1

We recently upgraded to Exchange 2013 SP1 with a client user-base of Office 2010 Professional Plus / Outlook 2010 SP3.
All Unread Email favorites folders show both Unread and Read emails, just like the inbox. Removal of the folder and recreating yields the same results, as does creating a custom folder. However, in Outlook 2013 there is no problem.
Is there a patch or hot fix for this issue? Or does anyone know how to fix this issue so that the UNREAD EMAILS SHOW UP IN THE UNREAD FOLDER AND NOT INCLUDE THE READ EMAILS?
    Thank you!
    Kim Parker-Polito / Newhall Land

    Go down to Search Folders
    - Right click on Search Folders and create New Search Folder leave default "Unread Mail1" and click OK
    - Right click on the new “Unread Mail1” folder and choose “Customize this search folder”
    - Click on Browse
    - Select the checkbox for “Search subfolders”
    - Press OK and OK again.
    - Right click on old "Unread Mail" Folder and delete.

  • Ios7 - emails showing as unread in hotmail

So I just downloaded ios7 and my little email icon is now showing that I have 6719 unread email messages - even though I don't.
They're all in one of my hotmail email accounts, not any of my other ones (either hotmail or gmail). When I search for the word 'unread', it says there are no unread emails in any of my inboxes, and yet the icon is still displaying 6719.
    Can anyone help or advise?

Hey, I just had this problem, showed 9000 unread hotmail emails,  now fixed it.
Delete the hotmail account completely, via settings and then add new "outlook" account with all the same signin details and hotmail address.

  • IPad Mini with IOS7 showing 35 unread Yahoo emails

iPad mini with IOS7 updated yesterday is showing 35 unread emails on my yahoo account using the mail account on the iPad.   All other yahoo accounts including the yahoo mail app DO NOT show 35 unread emails.
    1) I have added and deleted the yahoo account several times with no luck
    2) rebooted iPad with no luck
    3) iPad 2 with same yahoo account added DOES NOT show 35 unread emails.
Any suggestions on what is causing this?

  • Email Widget Shows Unread Mail When There is None

Title says it all. My email widget shows I have 'X' number of unread emails when in fact I have zero unread emails. Suggestions?

The "inbox" on the phone is blank, and refreshing the email accounts doesn't make any messages appear. I go back to my home screen and ... the widget says I have 'X' unread emails. Open the email widget again, inbox is blank, refresh - nothing new, return to home screen and the widget still says I have 'X' unread emails.

  • IPhone 4 showing 662 unread emails but non exist!!

After upgrading to ios7 (BIG mistake, it is horrible, icons look like a child has designed them and the colour scheme is terrible) one of my email accounts is showing 662 unread emails but there are non there.
I have tried switching the account of, rebooting then back on again as I read on the forum but it didn't work.
    Any ideas?

Found the solution and it was really simple.
When you do actually have a new mail in the mailbox go to edit>select all> mark as unread
Then go back and edit again, this time select all>mark as read
And the notification of 662 unread mails dissapeared:)
