MobileMe Gallery - not respecting Aperture security setup

I have around 5 albums on my MobileMe gallery which are synchronised with Aperture (in fact I create them in Aperture).
Of these albums, 2 are password-protected and 3 are public. I haven't created an album in a while (probably since Aperture 2!) and I have been trying to create a public (i.e. no password) album to no avail.
Basically, although in Aperture, the settings for the album are listed as "public" access, whenever I try to access the album on the web through MobileMe Gallery, I am asked for a password. I have tried re-syncing, tried creating multiple new albums - whatever I do I am always asked for a password and the thumbnails of these newly created albums have the padlock icon denoting that they are password protected.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hi there
I tested with an empty library and discovered that it was definitely an issue linked to 1 particular library (rather than the app as a whole).
Thanks for linking to the Troubleshooting page for Aperture - although I had previously trashed preferences and selected "Repair Database" this did not solve the problem so I tried the "Rebuild" option which always scares me but it did work this time (I made sure I had a Vault backup just in case)!

is that the same for all your galleries, or only one particular gallery?
Do your galleries sync o.k. with Mobile Me? Do you see the sync sign below?
Try, if you can "Tell a friend" from the "Web Interface" - click the MobileMe button and select "Visit ...", from your gallery it is also possible to invite people to view. If that also does not work, something probably is wrong with your Mobile Me settings in the System Preferences.
If the web interface works, but not the Aperture interface,check the Aperture Preferences -> Web.
It should show your account as enabled.

Putting Mobileme Gallery Photos into Aperture Project

Hello,
I was recently on vacation with my brother and we each took pictures with our cameras. We used a laptop to load the photos to a new mobile me gallery. When I got home, I opened aperture and the mobileme gallery appeared under the mobileme gallery list. My question is how can I get those photos into a new aperture project, where the photos become the master photos locally on my mac? I tried selecting and dragging them to a new project but each photo has a globe on it and I am worried that if I delete the gallery, the photos will disappear.

I have one image in my Aperture Library that has a globe badge. I've been struggling to understand what it means as this badge is not explained in the manual and I can't find anything on the web.
Are you saying this happens when you pull photos from MobileMe? I've never done this, so it's a bit strange. I do often send galleries from Aperture to MobileMe, but have never done the reverse.

Trying to create a iWeb page and wanna use mobileme gallery widget but the widget does not work. It tells me to add gallery and movies to the widget and thats already done. What do I do???

Creating a MobileMe gallery & NOT sharing with everyone?

Hi, how do I restrict visibility of a MobileMe gallery to just a few users?
Prior to uploading there is a menu where it is possible among other setting to choose to share with 'everyone', 'just me' or 'selected people'.
Ok the issue is with the selected people list.
Do I understand this right that I have to give a 'name' & a password for every person I want to share the gallery with?
Ok I have put in 3 names and given them a password. But then it goes back to the main pre-loading options and I can see all the names in the drop down along with 'everyone', 'just me' etc... so how do I select those 3 ??? It looks as if I can only select one name. Do I have to do this one at a time or do I give all the people I want to share with a single name ? Is that how it is supposed to work ?

While viewing the MMe gallery in iPhoto click on the Settings button to bring up the Settings pane. Then click on the Advanced button to show additional options.
There you have two options:
1 - select Hide Album on my Gallery Page
Click to view full size
Which will keep viewers who are viewing your other galleries from visiting the hidden gallery. You can then just give the URL for that gallery to those who you want to view. But they could give it to others.
2 - select Edit Names and Passwords in the Album Viewable by drop down menu and create a single username and password for those selected to view it or a username and password for each individual.

MobileMe gallery not showing in iweb

Hi,
I seem to be having problems with the mobileme widget in Iweb.
I created a new album for my web page and when i pull the widget into iweb - it is only recognising one album. I have logged in and out of mobile me...iweb...tried the various suggestions from other forums and nothing seems to work...very frustrating.
I went onto the mobileme apple support where i thought there was 24/7 live support - but after trawling through different pages - couldn't find the option that would allow for live chat...not sure if that has been withdrawn now...but have not been impressed by how difficult it has been to get help by apple on this.

MobileMe Gallery not syncing

I have been trying for the last couple of days to upload a couple of new MobilMe Galleries to my account. The first 4 galleries worked fine, then a few days later I cannot get anything to publish. Aperture appears to be making progress as the "clock" progress indicator and the "Show Activity" screen show progress from 0% to 100%. Then the clock turns into spinning arrows and the Show Activity screen says it is uploading optimized images. This goes on for awhile and then I get a message that "the sync failed, could not contact the publish.me.com server." During my most recent attempt, this occurred after 50 of 75 images had been uploaded according to the Show Activity screen. I logged into my account and it shows I have used 140MB of 20GB of storage, so I appear to have plenty of room.
Any ideas what could be going wrong?

Likely it's not you. Many others, including myself, have experienced odd behaviour, intermittent and often incorrect syncing, lost data, etc.
Apple has just issued yet another extension of the months of service for a total of 90 days added on. They're buying time to fix serious glitches.
Your activity appears to demonstrate an inability to get accurate syncing from Apple's servers. You may need to be patient and keep trying as MobileMe (slowly) gets the fixes it needs.

MobileMe gallery not working ATV2?

I can access my MM galleries via web, mac, iPad, iPhone, etc without issue and from my old appletv. ATV2 accepts my MM user name under the Internet / MobileMe. I get one of the following every time, it either gives me the spinning with no end looking for something OR more commonly is tells me I have no galleries, which I have quite a few.
I have tried deleting the profile and putting it back. Ive tried resetting all settings. I finally did a complete restore - no change. I'm about to take it back for an exchange. Any other ideas?

Ok, odd. I can add my wife's account at is a sub account of my master. I can add my father in laws account that is not associated. I can load friends MM accounts and see galleries but not mine. Now mine are all password protected and always have been. This was not an issue with the old model appletv. It would just ask for the password but would show that i have galleries. Right now, nothing.

Aperture and MobileMe Gallery

I have a website which was created in Aperture and uploaded to my MobileMe Gallery some time ago. Since upgrading to version 3 it seems that the gallery has lost its link with the Aperture Album. The MobileMe gallery shows 'Sync with Aperture' in the info window but the Gallery does not show in the MobileMe Gallery Section of Aperture.
Is there anyway I can re-link the Gallery and Aperture manually?

Trouble creating a MobileMe Gallery with Aperture

I'm having trouble creating a MobileMe Gallery from within Aperture. In the past it work flawlessly but now it isn't working at all. This is what happens: I create a gallery from within Aperture by clicking on either "New/MobileMe Album, or "New From Selection/MobileMe Album." The gallery is made and appears in Aperture. However, when I visit the MobileMe site the Gallery doesn't contain any images. When I sync it again the gallery disappears from within Aperture all together.
Any ideas?

I resolved my problem by rebuilding the Aperture Library from the Aperture Vault. Apparently, and this makes sense, Aperture can't build a Gallery if the photo version, or photo itself is missing. I think the reason why it appeared visible is because the Preview file was embedded...

MobileMe Gallery Widgets - 3 Curious Questions

Have created and published an iWeb site which basically consists of one page, onto which I’ve positioned six MobileMe Gallery widgets. In the window for each of those widgets I’ve selected a particular MobileMe Gallery published from Aperture, each of which already has one particular image designated as its Key Photo.
So now what’s left -- and what I’ve searched extensively but still can’t figure out -- is:
1) How do I turn OFF the automatic “slideshow preview” going on inside each of those six Gallery Widgets, and make it so they each display only the Key Photo for that Gallery (at least until the user mouses over a particular widget, activating the scrub/scan feature to manually preview all the images contained in that Gallery)?
2) How do I set each widget window to “fit” all the preview thumbs inside its dimensions, rather than arbitrarily hacking off the tops and bottoms of all the vertically-oriented images, which for many shots just looks arbitrary, amateurish, and really ugly?
3) What is the current status of that ridiculous bug which didn’t allow the Gallery Widget to display a Gallery which had been published using the “Hide album on my Gallery home page” option? I do ultimately need to have that option checked, but have left it unchecked for now just to make sure the iWeb site containing the widgets would actually publish.
So -- have the iWeb people and the MobileMe people FINALLY got this bug fixed, or do I still need to hold off activating that “Hide album...” option, and just let my professional Galleries be all mixed together with my personal ones? (Which again just looks arbitrary and amateurish, and encourages one to check out third-party solutions -- at least until such time as the different programming groups at Apple decide to actually talk to each other, and make programs which can interact in truly fluid, intuitive, and meaningful ways.)
My 2¢ -- on top of 3 questions. Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated.

No, no, no -- I'm fine with the skimming, in fact I like that feature. #2 - Again, you're referring to the skimming, right? Since it's a square shape the photos would have to be square to be able to be scaled exactly. Since it's only a "skim" of what's inside being perfectly scaled isn't that necessary.
It certainly wouldn't be as annoying if I could switch off this "automatic slideshow preview" behaviour as described above. (Though even for the skim function, I still think it would make sense to have the option to have the images auto scale to fit completely within the widget window -- which is not square, by the way -- or at least on my system appears to only be sizeable as a horizontal rectangle, to a maximum size of 320x260 pixels. This orientation works fine for previewing horizontally-oriented images, but looks butt-ugly when completely decapitating various groups of people in vertically-aligned shots, of which I happen to have many.)
In any case, if an auto-scale option to fit all image preview thumbs within the widget window (even for mere skimming) is something I need to add to my Feature Request list, that's fine. It's this bizarre, completely on its own "automatic slideshow preview" behaviour I'm still trying to understand.
#3 - it still exists. If you don't want it to be displayed in your overall MMe gallery with the rest of the individual galleries Apple isn't letting it be published alone.
Just to make sure we're talking about the same bug, in an ideal world I DON'T want these particular Gallery/Albums to be displayed as part of my overall MMe Gallery page, but I DO want them to be the designated content of the MMe Gallery WIDGETS which I'm including on the specific iWeb page in question. And if this bug still has not been fixed, then it appears I and many others are still S.O.L. for what should be a simple and obvious bit of formatting.

How to add uploaded photos (not from aperture) in Mobileme Gallery to a project

I shared some photos using a mobileme gallery where I allowed friends to upload their photos to the gallery. Now the gallery exists with both the photos from my aperture library (and project) and my friends photos (which appear in aperture with a little symbol).
I would like to have the photos that were uploaded by my friends to be added to a new project without moving or erasing them in the mobileme gallery. Is there a simple way to do this? I know if I select photos from a project and drag and drop them to another project aperture moves the photos but I don't know if this is how aperture handles mobileme galleries in the inspector.

Just drag an image from the MobileMe Gallery to a project it will copy the image, not move it. Aperture will move images that are stored locally in the library but since these images uploaded by friends are only stored on the MobileMe servers, Aperture will make a copy when you drag them to a project.

Aperture to MobileMe gallery - shots are not sharp

I use both Zenfolio and MobileMe and export from Aperture 2 to both of these sites, but my photos on MobileMe look a bit fuzzy on MobileMe, while they look great in Zenfolio. Anyone have this issue or have any tips?

A) It shouldn't be possible to select a folder and then have the option of publishing to Mobile Me, Facebook or Flickr. For me those are all grayed out when I have a folder selected in the sidebar.
B) Are you referring to a project or an album by chance? If so, then you will need to select the photos, in the Browser, before choosing to upload to an online service.

I can't get MobileMe Gallery to stop trying to move pictures from it to Aperture. I never posted pictures to MobileMe Gallery. HELP

MobileMe has been discontinued
Aperture will move albums you have published to Mobile Me Gallery into the Albums section of your library to preserve them.
If I chose OK it will say aperture is moving mobile me gallery and it takes forever but I've never posted pictures to that gallery.

If you migrated from MobileMe to iCloud your Addressbook will now be synced with iCloud and not with MobileMe.
Make sure, the AppleID you are using with iCloud is the same you when upgrading from MobileMe to iCloud. Your iCloud account has to be enabled in the Addressbook and your contacts should appear in the iCloud accounts section.
To sync your Contacts, they have to be enabled in the iCloud preferences, like this:
