MobileMe Gallery + Smart Folder; why doesn't it automatically update?
I used to use Photocasting on iPhoto 6. This worked great in that I published a photocast of a smart folder and any new items that matched the smart folder were automatically published.
I upgraded to iPhoto '08 specifically so that people could subscribe to an album via RSS and have it work on any computer.
Unfortunately, with iPhoto '08 the MobileMe Gallery doesn't seem to remember that it was based on a smart folder and I have to manually add additional pictures to publish in the MobileMe Gallery.
What am I missing? All I want is to have a smart folder automatically publish all new matches to an RSS feed for my friends & family to see new pics.
Please advise as to how anyone is able to accomplish this.
MobileMe galleries are separate from the album that you initially use to create them. Any photo added to the album also has to be manually added to the gallery. It's the nature of the beast. You can put in a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Firefox does not automatically update, even thought it is supposed to. One needs to log into an Administrator account for it to updates. Previous versions before 8.0 also had this problem. A suggestion to Mozilla: post a message that updates are available.

I have Lion on my laptop and I want to back up my calendar TO my iphone. Not the reverse. iCloud only goes from iphone to iCloud to mac not the other way. Also, why doesn't "sync" mean update most recent changes across all devices? I thought that was the point of iCloud. Any suggestions since iCloud doesn't seem to work?
It's a work computer so I wanted to save them to my iTunes so I can access from another computer. Should I go to a home computer and just Import for best results? If so how do I do this? Also, why would I be synched with another library and how do I find out what this is? Very new/green user here

I have comcast email why is it not automatically updating on my phone and alerting me I received an email? It only updates when I open the email folder.
So I will just have to keep checking my mail folder? That's crazy, I did not have a problem with my Android. Is there a way to get around this? I have been waiting on an email alert and I keep forgetting to check my mail folder, this is very frustrating.

Go to the Apple menu which appears in the upper left of the screen, then click About this Mac. Screenshot the window that pops up.
Also under the Apple menu, run Software Update. After it checks for updates, screenshot the window of available updates. -
Why doesn't Numbers automatically sort?
I have a slider on a table that updates numerical value in a cell which, in turn, automatically updates (via a calculation) a 2nd table on another sheet. I have a 3rd table (on a 3rd sheet) that is sorted by a value which is calculated partly with a value in the 2nd table. I'd like this 3rd table to automatically sort after I move that slider in cells on table 1. It doesn't!
Anyone know why? how?If you want to sort that table automatically, you can do it in a fourth table or within Table 3. For the example below, I'm going to do it all in Table 3. It assumes you want to sort column B and there is another column, A, that needs to stay matched up with it. Personally, I'd do it in another table but it's less typing to give the example this way.
We will use Column D to sort column B. To sort the column of numbers smallest to largest, use the SMALL function.
D2=SMALL($B$2:$B$5,ROW()-1)
D3=SMALL($B$2:$B$5,ROW()-1)
D4=SMALL($B$2:$B$5,ROW()-1)
D5=SMALL($B$2:$B$5,ROW()-1)
To reorder Column A to match the newly sorted B column, use the LOOKUP function:
C2=LOOKUP(D2,$B$2:$B$5,$A$2:$A$5)
C3=LOOKUP(D3,$B$2:$B$5,$A$2:$A$5)
C4=LOOKUP(D4,$B$2:$B$5,$A$2:$A$5)
C5=LOOKUP(D5,$B$2:$B$5,$A$2:$A$5)
You can do the same LOOKUP to re-order any other columns.
EDIT: One major drawback in this is that the values in column B better be unique (i.e., no two alike). The sort of column B will go fine in any case but the matching up of the other columns will get hosed if B does not have uniques values. There may be a more robust way to do the matching besides LOOKUP.

For security reasons and less hassle, I like Chrome auto-updates Flash Player. Why doesn't Firefox do this?
Google Chrome has it's own version of the Flash plugin that is apart of the Google Chrome installation files.<br />
So Google needs to do a full update with every Flash release.
Firefox uses the Flash plugin as installed in your Linux distribution,<br />
If your Ubuntu Linux distribution doesn't have an automatic update for Flash then you need to do that manually.

Why doesn't the latest update of Adobe Flash work well?
Well for me it doesn't.
This is my 3rd time downloading it, it'll eventually stop working again like it did the first two times and I'm going to have to reinstall it again.

I see the moving red dot, but in step two, everything in red is blurry/faded.

When you say lock up.... Does iTunes provide you with an error message as this is usually the case..... If so what is the error message?
You can also try things like using a different USB port or even a different computer.
