MobileMe iDisk failed --- I want the iPhone as file storage
At first, yes it is nice. But why I can't save pictures from iDisk to my photo app on the iPhone? Why I can't save files from iDisk on the iPhone?
Why it isn't possible to use the iPhone as file storage? We are living in the year 2009. Since the first generation every iPod can be used as a mountable device.
Why Apple let me not save files on my iPhone by using USB?
I don't want to hack my iPhone for this feature. Wireless Apps are no solution for me?
But i feel to forced to hack my iPhone. Thank you Apple.

You may not be able to save -- this is a sync service -- but you can use the app to mail the image or file to yourself and that would make it accessible. You could also mail from your desktop of course.
The iPhone and iPod touch are not mountable and use a different OS from the other iPods. It is not a problem with the platform, it was a deliberate decision by Apple not to have this. You say that you do not want to use wifi solutions, but there are several effective solutions, like Air Sharing, Files (and Files Lite) and the recently released Documents to Go.
If you feel that there is a feature that you would like on the iPhone, why not tell Apple, by using the Feeback pages provided for that purpose and not the users. You did read the conditions when you joined, didn't you?

I haven't seen it mentioned but the secret is to
Sync only selected calendars
Select "Remove Calendars" from the popup window
(This is ambigous: from where are the calendars removed? From the device being synced to)
Click apply.
Oops! My memory is already gone stale. I think I left no calendars selected, then clicked apply. Then I selected the calendars that I wanted, then clicked apply.
In any case, I had a blank calendar on my iPad and then I had all the updated events that I wanted on my iPad.

FIX: calendar probs "sync server failed to sync the iphone"
Hi all,
Out of nowhere my 3GS with OS4 stopped syncing via iTunes. (I use USB and PC with XP). Error message included "sync server failed to sync the iphone"
One to try.......
Go to My Computer
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Apple Computer\Logs
There are file with names like
asl.987429_25Aug10 (for example)
I opened a file with the date when the problem occurred.
Scroll down and look for a line like this.
USB mux port 32498 for device 9: No such device or address
[5968 @ Thu Aug 26 14:06:51 2010] [(unknown facility) iTunes.exe] MobileDeviceConnectlocked (thread 592): Could not connect to lockdown port on device 3e59d5e8fc22f5cad8a409af80aedd59396ee165.
Take note of this number 3e59d5e8fc22f5cad8a409af80aedd59396ee165 (or just the last few digits). Then..........
Go to My Computer
C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Apple Computer\SyncServices\Local\Copy clientdata\
I had 3 folders, all with long alphanumeric names, lets call them A, B and C. Open each of them in turn; they will have a the text document "clientname". You should fine something like this:
"com.apple.MobileSync.3e59d5e8fc22f5cad8a409af80aedd59396ee165" where the alphanumeric is the same as the error message. For me this was in folder A.
Now, go back to the \clientdata folder and copy the Folder (folder A - with the correct "clientname" file in it) to your desktop (so you can restore if it doesn't work)
then delete that folder (folder A) from the \clientdata folder.
Close all and reattempt to sync whilst turning around 3 time anti clockwise with your hands on your head.
Worked for me - no loss of data.

Ken HThis just worked for me, thank you! It's a little confusing at one point -- the folder you're looking for is called clientdata (you have it as "Copy clientdata" at one point), and the folder may have other items in it, which will also have long names, but you need to ignore those items and open the file called clientname -- INSIDE THAT FILE in one of the folders, you'll find the long name you're looking for. THAT'S the folder you want to remove.

Your iPhone and iPod can share the same iTunes account. Apps can be freely shared and used by one or both devices. You can't use money in your iTunes account to pay for your phone, but purchased apps can be used by both the iPod and iPhone.

After updating to the new version of iTunes I am currently using, the snyc between my Outlook calendar and phone stopped working. If you purchase from eBay (or a used iPhone from anywhere) you may end up getting ripped off oi fthe seller does not remove the activation lock.

Sync problem: "...because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone."
The error message in iTunes says:
"iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "XXXXX's" iPhone because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone."
Relatively new iPhone, sync was working fine until I installed updates, how bad an idea is that? At any rate, after the updates were installed the calendar won't sync.
iPhone 4 running 4.1 (8B117)
WinXP Home running Service Pack 3 and all subsequent updates

I have an iPhone sync problem that started when I updated to iTunes 7.4.2. One person's solution of removing the "MobileSync" folder did not work for me. (Note that my MobileSync Folder is in my Library/Application Support Folder.) So, I am still searching for the fix. Here is the exact error message that I have been getting for about a month now, "iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone "My iPhone" because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone." I already tried re-installing iTunes and restarting the iPhone, both to no avail. PLEASE HELP!
I am running Mac OS 10.4.10 and with it, now, the Syncing is performed with the .Mac System Preference, not with iSync.
For a .Mac account only.
FYI, If you press the "Advanced" Button within the .Mac System Preference, there is a "Reset Sync Data..." Button available that basically does something similar.
This is not similar and is for a .Mac account only - this feature provides for resetting synced data on your computer from the .Mac servers or resetting synced data on the .Mac servers from your Mac.
iSync is the conduit for syncing cell phones other than the iPhone or another device such as a Palm Pilot and using Reset Sync History clears the sync history for such devices including the iPhone. -
