MobileMe instead of iCloud

I have the latest Software on my MacBook Air (when I ask for Software actualization, it gives the the message that I have the newest), but it gives me MobileMe instead of iCloud in the "Systemeinstellungen" - wht do I have to do? I Have also the iPhone and the oPad and the synchronization is not working (calendar, adress book, ...)

Software Update will only update the current system - 10.6.8 is as high as you can go, and the move to 10.7. or higher is an upgrade and has to be installed separately.
The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is non non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Mavericks are:
OS X v10.6.8 or later
2GB of memory
8GB of available space
  and the supported models are:
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

Help! And thanks in advance.

Why do I still have all my contacts in dot mac instead of iCloud? I cannot access my contacts on icloud.com. Me.com contacts are also no longer available and redirect to icloud.com

Please always post your system when you have a query: the answer to many questions is different depending on system, and this is one of those questions.
Let me guess: you have Snow Leopard or Leopard (or even Tiger) and when you migrated from MobileMe and were warned that you needed Lion you ignored it.
You cannot sync contacts to iCloud on anything earlier than Lion. When you migrated your contacts were removed from MobileMe but because you don't have Lion the process could not place them on the iCloud server.
There is no workaround for this other than downgrading from Lion - not a process you want to undertake lightly. If you have an iPhone you can sync your contacts using iTunes.
If my guess is wrong, and you do have Lion, that's a whole different can of digital worms.

  • How to move MobileMe Account to iCloud?

I tried logging in my iCloud account and got this message:
"Go to me.com on your computer to move your information to iCloud".   PRESS "OK"
I did that by going to my pc  and logged into www.me.com but somehow can't configure how to move MobileMe account to ICloud. Rather  i don't understand this Terrm.

Read "How can I use iCloud with 10.6.8?" list over on the right under the heading "More Like This".

I did not move my Mobileme account to iCloud. How can I get off the iCloud mailing list?

If you migrated your MobileMe account before 1 August you should have signed into System Preferences>iCloud with it, and you would be able to see your calendars, bookmarks and emails on the iCloud website. Is this the case? Did you sign into iCloud with your @me.com address?
If you did not migrate your MobileMe account you can no longer do so.
If you did migrate, did you do so from a full MobileMe account or from a Family Pack sub-account? the latter did not get the complimentary storage (because their iDisks were only 5GB anyway).
If you had a full MobileMe account, check on your Mac - System Preferences>iCloud - and see whether that shows the upgrade. If it doesn't, you probably need to contact Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support (MobileMe Support is no longer available) and you may be asked to pay a fee: in this case you should ask them to deal with it without cost (and hope they agree).
Note that you haven't paid anything for your MobileMe storage since your first renewal date after 6 June 2011, and iCloud costs nothing unless you specifically choose to upgrade the storage. Note also the iCloud storage is not general file storage in the manner of the iDisk but is restricted to iOS device Backup, Mail, Photo Journal and Documents.

Read the system requirements for iCloud.  It is not compatible with Snow Leopard which your system profile confirms you have.

  • Cannot sign with my MobileMe ID in ICloud (PC software), solution?

cannot sign with my MobileMe ID in ICloud (PC software), solution?

    Sorry for not explaining properly.
I use two Apple IDs, one to use Apple store and another MobileMe to access email and iDisk.
When I upgrade to IOS 5, tried to keep the same configuration, which according to Apple support is possible.
I have do migrated from MobileMe to icloud, and have use icloud constantly in browser.
Initially, I was surprised that despite having installed ICloudControlPanel could not log it, but as I was using icloud with browser, was satisfactory.
Yesterday, I try logon with my Apple ID (used in Store) in  ICloudControlPanel, and to my surprise I can sign and all interface of software was avaliable. So I tried to log with MobileMe account in ICloudControlPanel, and I have same problem, dont sign.
Thanks for any help, and sorry for the mistakes in English.

  • Using MobileMe address in iCloud

I did not registered my old MobileMe e-mail account in icloud before moving to icloud. Can I still use my old e-mail account or I have to open a new account?

If you did not migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud (at http://me.com/move) before 1 August your account has been closed and the contents deleted.
You can reactivate your @me.com address to use in iCloud - do not create a new iCloud accounts as you won't be able to add this address to it. Just sign in with your @me.com address in System Preferences>iCloud (Lion 10.7.2 minimum required) or Settings>iCloud on an iOS5 device.
You will be able to use the address but you will not be able to recover any emails previously stored on it, nor any files which were stored on your iDisk.
If you had an @mac.com version of the address (as a result of DotMac membership prior to MobileMe) you will not be able to reactivate that.
However, if you did migrate but have simply not signed it in to iCloud the same procedure applies; in this case the contents and any email aliases, will be transferred to the iCloud account. However any files which were in your iDisk are not recoverable.

  • I didn't move MobileMe subscription to iCloud, what's next?

I didn't move my MobileMe subscription to iCloud, what's next?, when I go to iCloud in my iPod Touch I am asked to Create a free @me.com email address, thank you for your help.

I went to iPod - iCloud, I see my Account: oldest Apple ID, description iCloud,.
I know I have this newer account [email protected], but when I try to put ON in Mail it says "Create a free @me.com email address to turn on iCloud Mail",
    Thank you for your attention,

  • I updated my MobileMe account to iCloud, but I missed all my important emails

I updated my MobileMe account to iCloud last week. And I can not connet to mail account for almost one week. After I change the password, it works. But I missed all my important emails? Any one can help me?

Your signature says you are using 10.6.8 - this cannot work with iCloud. 10.7.2 is required (as you were warned during the migration process), and if your Mac has the specification for it you should consider upgrading (though be aware that old PPC programs such as Appleworks will no longer work).
This is the situation on Snow Leopard when you have migrated from MobileMe:
Your email, calendars, and 'Find my iPhone' will be migrated to iCloud. Contacts and Bookmarks cannot be migrated from a Snow Leopard Mac.
Your iDisk, together with website hosting and Gallery, will continue to work as before until next June.
Syncing of Dashboard Widgets, Dock Items and Keychains between Macs, and Mail Accounts, Mail Rules, System Preferences, Signatures & Smart Mailboxes between Macs & iOS devices, will cease altogether.
You will be able to access email and calendars on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point.  BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion.
There appears to be no method of syncing contacts (though Address Book on a Mac can be synced with Google or Yahoo address books - I don't know how reliable this is).
The requirements for upgrading to Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is $29.99 and is obtained from the Mac App Store.

  • Couldn't move MobileMe mail to iCloud this afternoon

I just tried to do the official move from MobileMe to iCloud (having received my new MacBook Pro with Lion) and the me.com/move site keeps sending me to the Find my iPhone feature. I was just chatting with an Apple expert about it and he could not figure out the problem, but as there are a series of complaints today (March 18) about iCloud, it appears something's up with their servers. FYI. Thank goodness I didn't wait until the June 30 deadline to move my mail.

FYI, it turns out my trouble moving from MM to iCloud was not related to any server troubles. It was because I had two different Apple IDs -- one for MobileMe and one for iTunes/now iCloud. Once I figured out the different passwords, I was able to move MobileMe over to iCloud with really no problem. So I have two iCloud accounts, essentially.
This appears to be pretty common with people having set up iTunes separately before ever dealing with MobileMe. I just use certain things on one iCloud account -- mail -- and other things on the other -- iTunes, calendar, PhotoStream, etc.

Apple has shutdown MobileMe. You have to switch over to iCloud.

  • MobileMe e-mail, iCloud, and AppleID issues.

When I migrated my MobileMe account to iCloud, it turned into it's own AppleID for some reason.  As a result of this I cannot associate my MobileMe e-mail address with my current AppleID for iCloud e-mail to work.  I know I could use two iCloud accounts on my iPhone but this is not ideal in the slightest.  When I attempt to setup iCloud mail on my phone under the iCloud options it will not allow me to add my existing MobileMe e-mail address, the only option is the create a new one and I'd be much happier using my old one.
I hope someone from the community has the answer to this.  I intend to purchase an iPhone 4S in a few days which will come with 90 day complimentary support so I may indeed have to end up on the phone with Apple, although I hope this is not the case.
    Many thanks,
    Alex

Any chance you can point me in the right direction as I can't seem to find it on Apples website. Do I need the support package for this? If so I guess I'll have to wait until I buy the iPhone4s.
