MobileMe-iPhoto Sync

iPhoto syncs with photos I have on MobileMe. But when it does it makes a copy of any files I have on MobileMe, and puts that file in the iPhoto Library. I don't need copies of things I put on MobileMe added to my iPhoto Library, it takes up too much space, and I often upload to MM from other means (Like photos exported from Lightroom), and I don't need copies stored in iPhoto also. Is there a way I can make it so iPhoto won't copy files from MM to itself without turning off the preference "Copy items to iPhoto Library" (assuming that would stop iPhoto from copying items from MM). I like having iPhoto copy files to itself when imported (Keeps my wife from deleting photos when she cleans up her desktop). Or, is there a way to make iPhoto not sync from MobileMe to itself at all?

I just really want to be able to allow photos to be uploaded to me somehow and have them automagically find their way back into the proper event in iPhoto.
Simply, this is not a feature at this time.

  • HT5129 MobileMe - iPhoto sync problem

I have multiple iPhoto libraries. Every time I open one of them I get this message which does not allow any option to cancel.  I expressly don't want to download all my previously stored images from MobileMe to each of my iPhoto libraries.  Can someone tell me how to turn this feature off.  It is driving me crazy.

    Anyone?
This is really annoying because those events contain photos that aren't in my iPhoto Library
Tried all the options given by the Photo Library First Aid and still the same, the only thing that changed is that now the events are syncing in a different order

  • MobileMe iPhoto galleries not syncing after password change

After changing the MobileMe Password iPhoto does not recognize the properly configured MobileMe Account anymore.
All other Applications with MobileMe Upload/Sync/Publishing capability (iMovie, Aperture, MobileMe-Sync) still work flawless. After trying to publish a Photo to a MobileMe Gallery or clicking on an prior uploaded MobileMe , the MobileMe "Are you already a member" (Translated from German) screen pops up, asking me to login into MobileMe. A second windows states "An error occured with the publication of album "ALBUMNAME". Your MobileMe Account Information is not correct. The provided login or password is not valid" (Translated from German)."
Even in the iPhoto Preferences/Setting under the "Web" Tab the used and max iDisk Capacity is not shown.
After changing the MobileMe Password iPhoto does not recognize the MobileMe Account anymore.
I'm having this problem on my late 2007 MacBook Pro 2,4GHz
On my second Mac at home evrything works just fine, even in iPhoto.
I've tried several things to solve this problem:
    - Logging Off & On with fake MobileMe username/password in the MobileMe Setting in System Preferences
    - Updating the password in publish.me.com in the keychain
    - replacing the keychain on this Mac (MBP) with the keychain from my Mac at (both have latest Snow Leopard and iPhoto Version)
    - deleted the com.apple.iPhoto.plist

  • Intermittent iPhoto sync problem

I've had an iPhone 4 for the past 4 months. Recently (around when I upgraded to iLife 2011), iPhoto sometimes does not "see" my iPhone. I'll plug it in, iTunes will open and start to sync, but iPhoto just sits there and the iPhone doesn't pop up in the side bar.
I've found that if I open up Image Capture and let it "scan" the iPhone for photos, iPhoto will recognize the iPhone when Image Capture finishes scanning. This takes about 5 minutes though, and is obviously just a nasty workaround.
Has anybody else experienced intermittent problems with iPhoto sync?
On topic feature request: I find that when iPhoto DOES recognize the device, the sync process is far from automated. It keeps asking me weather or not I want to import photos that have already been imported (why would I ever want to do that!?), and it then asks me if I want to delete photos from the iPhone as it imports. I think the default behavior should be like iTunes music sync. It just "updates" iPhoto with new photos, and leaves everything else alone. It would be nice to see this sync process built into iTunes so I don't have to worry about two applications syncing properly when I plug in my phone.

  • What is the SAFEST SEQUENCE to convert from a Outlook/iPad/iPhone synced with MobileMe to syncing with iCloud (I have 10 years of calendar diary events and 3000 contacts) - I am worried about the data issues that have been posted about iCloud.

This has worked fine with MobileMe with only a couple of minor glitches in the past.
Any experience doing this the "right" way?

  • Aperture 3.1.3 and iPhoto sync problems

Upgraded to Aperture 3.1.3. Then upgraded to Lion. Tried to sync my iPhone and it got as far as photo's and got a -50 Sync error. Went to iTunes and turned off photo sync and the phone syn'd perfectly. Went back to iTunes turned photo sync back on, and got an error again. Went to iTunes turned off sync and checked the option to remove my photo's from the phone. Sync worked fine. Turned the photo sync back on, and it errored out when it was trying to reload the pictures. Turned off the Aperture photo sync and changed it to iPhoto. The next sync it reloaded my 1,500 photos without a hitch.
Bottom line: I explained all I have gone through so you can understand that it is not a corrupt photo library on the phone, and iPhoto sync'd fine, so it certainly appears that Aperture is once again the problem.

I am getting the same "Unknown error (-50)" when trying to sync photos from my Aperture 3 library now.
I did not upgrade to Lion (waiting for a 3rd party driver I need to be updated first for it), but I did update iTunes to 10.4 (80) recently and that is when I noticed the issue.
I haven't had this issue before. It syncs everything else but when iTunes goes from "Analyzing Photos" to "Optimizing Photos" in the sync process it reports that it is unable to sync because of an "unknown error (-50)"
To resolve the problem, I tried the following:
I repaired my Aperture library database (using Option+Command when launching Aperture 3).
Deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder inside my Aperture library. It had to resync all my photos again, this time it worked, but the next sync it had the same error again.
Updated my iOS to the latest version.
Did a Repair Disk Permissions on my Mac.
I changed USB cables and ports (using only ports directly on my Mac Pro).
Tried syncing with only iTunes running.
Doing all the above made no difference, I am still getting the error message and it won't sync new photos back to my iPhone 4 now.

  • Disable iPhoto Sync

How can the iPhoto sync be disabled. I want only to share photos through network streaming. This is not documented in Apple Support or the Apple TV manual/users guide. Somehow, I've got iPhoto in sync mode in iTunes. I want to disable this mode, then switch to streaming.

To stop the Syncing, do the following
    Go to Mac HD
    Go to Applications
    Open image capture
Next to the apple icon in the top left hand corner click on image capture
    Click on preferences
Change the top drop down box to no application

  • MobileMe Contacts Sync - only some groups ?

    Hi,
I know I can sync only selected groups via iTunes. But what about through MobileMe wireless Sync ? I have several big Groups I really only need on my home iMac and don't want to clutter up my Contacts on my 3G.
When I go to the MobileMe preferences I can only find a single button for Contacts, nothing to select individual Groups.

Pretty sure MobileMe doesn't offer that....
Just FYI: the price of MobileMe includes one-to-one chat support--the link will show up at the MM support site after a little pause or following some links.

The advantage of asking them is that hopefully it gets tracked as a feature request. You can also send feedback at

  • ICal, MobileMe, Outlook sync

Hey all, thanks in advance for your help. I use an iMac, MacBook Pro, and iPhone for personal use. I also use a Dell PC at work and my agency requires that my appointments be posted in the Outlook calendar which utilizes Microsoft Exchange server, and the OS on my Dell at work is MS XP Pro.
I currently use iCal on my iPhone during appointments to schedule next sessions with clients. Those appointments then get synced with mobileme to my laptop and to my iMac at home. Fine. BUT, I also want (and am required by my work) to have those same appointments on my Outlook calendar on the Dell desktop.
When I go to the MobileMe control panel for Windows app on my Dell desktop Control Panel, it says that "Syncing of MS Outlook contacts and calendars is not possible when Outlook is configured to use MS Exchange Server" - which ours is. So it appears I cannot use MobileMe to sync my calendar.
I also thought, well, I can hard-wire sync my phone to my desktop at work, but when I do that, the sync process won't take the iCal data and draw it from the phone to be put in Outlook calendar, it wants to replace the information on my iPhone with the Outlook calendar data which I erased - so there is nothing on my Outlook calendar at this point. My thought was once I was able to do the first transfer of data from iCal on my iPhone to the MS Outlook calendar, then syncing would happen as needed from that point forward. I don't want to allow it to transfer from Outlook TO my iPhone the first time though because it will erase everything on my iPhone iCal, I think.
I'm so frustrated. Does anyone know how I can successfully use my iPhone, MacBook, iMac, and me.com on the web - to add appointments to my iCal calendars, and then make sure that data gets transferred to my Outlook calendar on my work desktop? I don't need to use my desktop outlook calendar to enter appointments, just need to have them appear there.
    HELP!! and thanks.

    No one has any answers?

  • IPhoto 09 MobileMe Gallery Sync

    Friends,
I apologize if this has already been asked. I have searched and searched and searched and just cannot find an answer.
Here's what I am trying to figure out. I have a decent sized photo library being managed by iPhoto 09. I have diligently organized everything into events and take advantage of every iPhoto feature I can. One need I have is to allow family members the ability to upload new photos to my library.
I have tried publishing my events to the MobileMe Gallery and allowing uploads but there are a few problems with this scenario. First, I have hundreds of events and want to publish all of them. So far as I can tell, I must publish each of them one by one. Second, while the upload works, the new photos go to the "MobileMe Gallery" section in iPhoto. I want them synced all the way back to the source event. I know I can copy them over, but again, I have hundreds of events. It would be an impossible and completely manual process with which to manage.
I've tried this with Flickr too but the iPhoto integration works much the same as the MobileMe gallery. I don't care what technologies are in play. I just really want to be able to allow photos to be uploaded to me somehow and have them automagically find their way back into the proper event in iPhoto.
I can't imagine this is a unique requirement. How do others allow family and friends to contribute photos while still being able to organize everything in iPhoto in an effective way?
    Rick

  • Stopping iPhoto sync with MobileMe

I just installed iPhoto '09 and am editing my photos to include places. Unfortunately, every time I edit a photo that is in an album that has been published to the MobileMe gallery, iPhoto tries to sync the changes the photo, which grinds all other activity to a halt.
I keep telling iPhoto to stop syncing, but the software does whatever it wants.
Is there a way to stop this short of deleting all my published albums and re-publishing them after I have edited my library?

Have you set the iPhoto preference for web syncing to manual?

  • MobileMe Iphoto upload is driving me crazy!

I have MobileMe set up on both my Macbook (10.5.8) and my iMac (10.6.3)
It works well for most things (iCal syncs like a dream etc.) BUT I just can't get iPhoto to sync properly.
It syncs fine when I add a photo on my iMac from iPhoto to the Mobileme gallery. The photo appears in me.com and syncs in my Macbook Mobileme gallery.
But, it doesn't work the other way around. I can add a photo to my Mobileme gallery using iPhoto on the macbook and it appears on me.com. But, when I go to the Mobileme gallery tab on my iMac's iPhoto, the thumbnail comes up with the photo title, but it's just a blank box with a dashed line around it. When I click on the thumbnail, it shows an exclamation mark.
I have tried signing in and out of MobileMe, checking the keychain etc etc.
The only thing I can think of is that it's a compatibility issue between iPhoto '08 (the version on my macbook) and iLife / iPhoto '09. Or maybe one of SnowLeopard's many glitches.
Any help would really be appreciated because it's really frustrating me! Thanks!

  • MobileMe Gallery Sync Problem

I am new to Aperture. I'm trying to sync albums to MobileMe. If I try to use "sync by email" option, my album will not sync at all (it generally works otherwise). And my iPhone will not recognize any albums on MobileMe, even ones that were previously authorized for "sync by email." I tried the same thing in iPhoto and it is not working either.
Is anyone else having this problem or is it a local problem with my machine? Any help would be appreciated.

Since you were able upload some newly imported photos from that library it may be a damaged library. Try the following: backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
Then try the older photos again. If they are in existing albums create new albums, move them to it and try. It might be just a damaged album.

  • Cancel MobileMe Gallery sync and how do I rename a synced Album?

I seem to have uploaded a large number of Albums with a large number of images and want to cancel this sync. I selected each and went to Delete and this does not seem to do it.
Is there a better way to do this either through MobileMe or through iPhoto?
Also, does anyone know why my Flickr sync seems to always be on for some albums? Will this happen when I change the name in iPhoto? Will it happen when I change the Album name in Flickr? Should I change name in one rather than the other...?
    Thanks.

confirmed on the renaming issue. Just tap the name while in file selection area and rename.
Better yet how do I work on it. I dragged to desktop and launched pages. Has to be a better way.
Nope, that sounds about right (except that you would have launced Numbers for a spreadsheet). You copy it off the ipad through iTunes and open it in the parent app.

  • How do I add Panic Transmit Favorites to MobileMe's Sync Preferences?

I know that I just need to go to a folder but I'm not sure where it was. I thought that it was in the /User/Library/Application Support/Schemas folder, but I only see that on my MobileMe but not locally on my machine. Does anyone know where I can find the folder on the Finder in order to add my Favorites from Panic Transmit back into the Sync Preferences for MobileMe?

Be careful rephrasing Terminal commands so people don't put the extra text you added afterwards. It's just:
    ~/Library/Application\ Support/Transmit/TransmitSync.app/Contents/MacOS/TransmitSync --registerClient
