MobileMe mail and digital certificates

Hi,
Is there any way of digitally signing and encrypting MobileMe emails using a self-signed certificate?
Thanks,
Glyn

Thanks for your reply, Dave - glad to hear it's not just me!
I spoke to Apple and they say they've done nothing to the MobileMe servers that would cause this.
The reject email I get is:

I have a keystore . in ordeer to know what it contains ,i opened this keystore with this command ...keytool -list -keystore DemoIdentity.jks
    and i got,
    Keystore type: jks
    Keystore provider: SUN
    Your keystore contains 1 entry
demoidentity, Jan 4, 2007, keyEntry, // is it called private key ?
Certificate fingerprint (MD5): 60:42:75:33:31:AA:9A:C6:9D:1A:CD:9F:22:8D:4A:6A // is it called certificate ?
    Question :
I still dont understand what a keystore contains. does it contains "private key" + "digital certificate" ?
If so , what are private keys and digital certificate in the above contents ?

The content of a 'keystore' is what you, or the person who provided it, put in it. In this case it looks like all it contains it a public key certificate with an alias of 'demoidentity' .

  • Ical and digital certificates

I accidentally deleted the digital certificate that is buried someplace in a folder in the operating system, and now iCal won't sync, and it wont connect to the apple server. I have 6 other Macs and they all work fine. They are all pretty new. But my laptop won't sync and won't connect.
Does anyone know how to get the digital certificates back into that folder?
Also my MSN messenger won't work because I deleted that certificate.
Thats the last time I play around with something I know nothing about.
    Thanks

  • Forms and Digital Certificates

can anyone provide insight into the ability of the Forms server to work with client side digital certificates? all of the 8i documentation seems to indicates compliance with standard PKI implementations, and even mentions client side certificates explicitely. However, nothing clearly indicates the ability to use client side certs with the Forms server.

  • Mail and Thawte certificates

I've been trying to use a thawte email certificate with Mail and Mail does not recognize it.
Actually, I think part of the problem is that keychain access puts the certificate in "Certificates" and won't let me put it in "My Certificates" - can anyone explain why this is happening?
I've gotten this to work with public/private key pairs in the past, and there are posts all over this discussion board from people with the same problem - has anyone figured this out?

    Hi Michael-
I was having the exact same prob. Turns out that Safari or the Keychain Util. didn't actually install everything it was supposed to. I found some good directions on R'Reilly's MacDevCenter site which fixed everything: http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2003/01/20/mail.html.
I had originally gotten a Thawte Personal Freemail certificate using Firefox. So, following their directions, I went to Firefox prefs./security and backed up the Thawte cert. to a file on my desktop. Next, they said to open the Apple keychain util. and CREATE A NEW KEYCHAIN. Not a new certificate, but a new keychain. Call it whatever. Then, double-click on on the backed-up certificate file and install to your new keychain. Voila. You should see three certificates and one private key (when I initially downloaded the certificate using Safari it only installed two certificates, and in the "login" keychain--which I'll now zap).
    Good luck!

  • Can't access MobileMe Mail and Can't receive or send e-mail with Entourage

For the past three days I haven't been able to check my email account. Cannot receive or send email with Entourage. Tried accessing my mail account online (www.me.com) and once I login the page is blank, there's nothing in it.
    Please help. Thank you!

MobileMe says that 1% of users are experiencing problems with mail, although I was told earlier today that it will be offline or sporadically available for the next 2 days at least. You can always check the status of MobileMe here.

  • MobileMe Mail and EPrint

    Hi everyone
I own an HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One printer.
In August, I set this up, and have had no problems until now. It has been printing documents fine wirelessly, via eprint (when sent on a PC and when set using iPhone / iPad).
Today, I am experiencing issues with eprint.
    Testing I've done:
    1) Email (new messages and forwarded messages) to eprint address from iPhone for MobileMe account - won't work
    2) Email (new messages and forwarded messages) to eprint address from iPhone for Yahoo BT account - working
    3) Email (new messages and forwarded messages) to eprint address from PC for MobileMe account - won't work
    4) Email (new messages and forwarded messages) to eprint address from PC for Yahoo BT account - working
    5) Wireless printing working from both email addresses and on webpages etc.
Is there a new known issue with MobileMe and ePrint?
As I say, it was working fine yesterday (and right back to August).
    Things I've tried:
    1) Resetting router
    2) Powering off printer
    3) Powering off iPhone / PC
Any ideas welcome, as it's a bit annoying having to forward everything via my (unused) BT address when I want to eprint, which I do frequently (more than wireless).
    Thanks so much
    Jessica

  • WebVPN-Problem with Digital Certificate and AAA

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem during configuring WebVPN on ASA 5520 using AAA and digital certificate of Microsoft. (MSCEP)
Currently, The WebVPN service is enabled and it worked well with AAA (local or external) only,
But now, I want to use both AAA and Certificate for most secure-I mean that the users will be authenticated 2 times (firstly, it is checked by valid certificate then user/pass is second one).
    Here are details:
I tried installation CA server (Microsoft CA service combined with SCEP) and register ASA with CA server (ASA work as subordinate CA)-->these steps is ok, asa has registed, then client use web-browser request CA and it's issued by CA administrator then it is installed on web-browser.
    Testing:
The Client tried to test with access SSL VPN, the welcome WEBVPN message prompt user/pass but the message is "Logon Failed" before I give user and pass,
Does anyone know and advise ?
    Thanks

  • Acrobat Reader 8 and digital signatures

What are the limitations of Acrobat Reader 8 with respect to digital signatures? I have been trying to create a form, that can be distributed through e-mail and digitally signed by Acrobat Reader 8 users, and am getting unpredictable results. It seemed like these users were able to sign this document last week, but today are unable to. Is the digital signature feature entirely stable?
I have read through the documentation and it is vague at best and seems to blur the lines between Acrobat Reader and Professional.

    >What are the limitations of Acrobat Reader 8 with respect to digital signatures?
Generally, it can't do them. (Adobe Reader, if I was being picky, the
    name was changed after 5.0).
You CAN enable signing using a special function. However, you are
contractually limited by the EULA; to oversimplify, no more than 500
users per form, or uses per form.

    Hi, expert:
I have a requirement to verify the validation of coming email with digital certification. The mail is with digital certification. If the coming email is valid, I 'll get the attachemt of the mail for further processing. I have a sender mail adapter and receiver file adapter configued.
I have already my own developed adapter module, which is configued in mail adapter. My question is how to retrieve the detailed certificate information in the adapter module developed by myself. Is it feasible?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Attach Digital certificate to outgoing mails

    Hi all,
Is it possible to attach a digital certificate (custom) to specific outgoing mails in ABAP (or) SAP.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jay

Somewhere online I found mention that you can assign the cert you don't want to use as untrusted and the one you do want to use as trusted. So in Keychain, double click on your Thawte cert, click on the Trust arrow and change the "When using this certificate:" drop down to "Always Trust". Do the opposite for your other certs.
This way you can still use your other certs for decrypting if anyones uses it to send to you. But you'll always use the trusted cert for signing/encrypting new messages.
I too wish there was a way to explicitly select the cert you want to use but till they allow that, this is the best way I've found to work around the issue.

  • Cant choose which digital certificate to sign outgoing email in Mail.app

I am posting this here as this post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5746197#5746197
    was archived.
I just wanted to add that this is still an issue for us. We use three digital certificates inside our organization, one from Thawte, one from caCert, and one from our in-house/private CA. All three work perfectly inside all applications that we use them in. There is on issue which is that if the user clicks the icon on the far right side of their outgoing email to "sign" that email, there is no telling which certificate it will use. We want to use the one from Thawte for all outgoing email but it ends up picking one of the other ones instead & as far as I can tell there is no way to control this or change this.
What I am requesting is that Mail.app ask me which certificate I want to use, either once, in preferences, or each email, or something, as sendind with the wrong one is really not workable.
I think 10.5.2 is a real step forward. Thanks for all the hardwork to make the improvements in it that we see.
    Thanks so much.

  • Mail missing Encrypt and Digitally Sign buttons

I don't have the option of encrypting or digitally signing any e-mails I compose in Mail. I have a valid security certificate in my Keychain Access, as well as valid certificates for my contacts. I can't find an option to show/add the encrypt and digitally sign buttons either.
When composing a new message, the drop down box next to the subject line only gives the following options:
    CC field
    BCC field
    Reply-to address field
    Priority field
    Customize...
I know where these two buttons should be and what they look like, but they're just not there. Any ideas or suggestions?

I finally have a solution to this problem. I had been trying to use a .cer security certificate issued by Comodo, it had worked just fine on Windows but my Mac didn't seem to like it. I also tried creating my own certificate through OSX, but even after I created it I still couldn't see the buttons.
I had someone direct me to this webpage which ultimately helped me fix the problem:
    http://allforces.com/2007/03/02/email-security/
I ended up using Thawte to issue me another security certificate (this time it was an x.509 file), the security certificate automatically opened in Keychain Access and downloaded to the Certificates and My Certificates folder. Once I shutdown Mail and restarted it I had the buttons for both encryption and digitally signed. Of course the encryption button is still greyed out because it is a new certificate and I need to make sure my Address Book contacts have a copy of it before I can encrypt.

  • Importing a digital certificate from e-mail

When receiving a digital certificate (in an fdf file) attachment in an e-mail in Outlook I want to automate importing it to the Acrobat trusted cert store using VBA with Acrobat classes.
I use an Outlook rule and can get to saving the .fdf file with VBA. I have referenced the Acrobat type library in VBA. But I cant find an Acrobat import certificate function in the library.
I am using Acrobat V8 and Outlook 2007

I don't know if there is one,  but have you downloaded the Acrobat SDK? You cannot program Acrobat by "discovery" of classes and methods, you do need the documentation. You might have to use the VB:JavaScript linkage.
