MobileMe Mail Notifications on iPhone DEAD again!
had about a week of NO notifications of new mobileme email on my iphone (had to open mail and update to even see if there were new messages). It cleared up for about a week, and now today it is broken again.
Really a shame how google push notifications are reliable, update instantly, and are more stable than APPLE's OWN mail product on its own platform.
On main screen select SETTINGS icon (Looks like a gear)- , page down to SOUNDS and select it, page down to NEW MAIL, then set the "ring tone". the unfortunate thing with iphone is you cannot adjust volumes of the various settings (mail, ringtone, text, etc) independently- REALLY aggravating if you need to hear phone call in the night- but do not want to hear 53 junk emails coming to the phone!!

If you enable Alerts for Mail, it will provide you a notification for just new emails. I recommend reviewing the following resources for more information about Notifications.

Mail Notifications on IPhone 4S
If I have created new ruled mail boxes/folders in my mobileme account and applied rules to move new messages from those senders to these specific mailboxes, how come the IPhone 4S does not notify me when I have received a new message in these ruled mailboxes? It only seems to notify me when new mail comes into my main inbox and when new messages have no rules applied. Please help!!
The iPhone will alert to incoming Mail messages only for the basic Inbox folders of each email account. If you are sorting at the server level into other folders, those messages aren't coming in to the Inbox folders, of your iPhone and so you will not receive an alert.

I have two e-mail accounts, AOL for junk and gmail for personal. How do I set a sound notification for just the gmail account on iPhone 5?
To control the notifications behavior per individual e-mail account go to Settings > Notificatiions > Edit > Mail , then select the e-mail account you wish to modify, then select New Mail Sound, finally select None at the top of the list of Alert Tones.

Mail notifications stop working and require a reboot to work again.
Why do my mail notifications stop showing up on my iPhone 4s after a day or two? It usually works again after a reboot but then stops working again after a day or two? Very annoying. I have an iPad 2 as well, which is running iOS5 (like my iPhone 4s) and I don't have this notification problem like I do on my iPhone 4s. My mail is a converted MobileMe mail account that is now an iCloud account. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for your reply! Mail notifications are turned on and I have it set to show the last 10 notifcations, I am using the banner and alert sounds.
Like I said, it works but then after "a while" it stops working until I do a reboot... It is very consistent in this pattern.
Also, I use the Twitter App (official one) and I have never gotten a notification even though I have Notifications turned on for Twitter too.

Syncing Mail Notifications Between Mac and iPhone

I been having this problem with the mail notifications not syncing between the Mail.app on my MacBook Pro and iPhone. Let me explain:
When I get a new email, I hear the sound and see the red notification icon appear on both the MacBook and the iphone. When it comes to checking the new email, here are the two possible scenarios:
a) If I check the new email on my phone, the red notification icon disappears from BOTH the iphone and the MacBook.
b) If I check the new email on my MacBook, the red notification disappears from the MacBook but DOESN'T disappears from the iPhone (that is until I open the app). This happens with both cases, when the app is "running" in the background or when it is complety closed.
I don't know if I am crazy but I am pretty sure that both of the notifications used to disappear before, no matter where I checked the mail.
I tried deleting and creating the email again on my phone, and it didn't work.
Here some info that could help find a solution:
- I'm using icloud email (@me.com)
MacBook
-Mountain Lion
iPhone:
- iOS 6 (this problem started before the upgrade)
- Push is on.
- Fetch (that suppodselly would be used only if push is off) is set to Manually.
- On the "Advanced" sub-menu inside the Mail settings, Push is also selected.
Hopefully this can actually be fix and I can prove myself that I was not crazy!!

I use iCloud for my email and find it very frustrating that when I read an email on my Mac or on iCoud.com that it doesn't automatically dismiss the notifications for those emails on my iOS devices until I open the mail app on each iOS device. Notification syncing works great with other apps. With iMessages, for example, when I read a message on my Mac running Yosemite, the notifications disappear on my iOS devices without opening the messages app (badge app icon, home screen notifications and notification center). Why can't they figure this out with email? I remember at my old job, I had an exchange account that properly synced mail notifications between devices, but it has never worked with my iCloud email. I wonder if I am just missing a particular setting or if Apple just blew it here. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

This notification occurs every time you log into Find My iPhone on the iPhone if you log out of it before you use it again. Find My iPhone will automatically log out each time you leave it if you do not have a passcode on your device. If you have a passcode on the phone and the log into Find My iPhone, it will only notify you that time. It will remain logged into Find My iPhone and you will not receive another email unless you log in from another device. Since I updated to iCloud, (which may or may not be related) Mail on my MacBookPro 10.6.8 has been unable to connect to MobileMe more than once or twice per day. Mail on my iPhone 4 and my old iMac has no problems. When there is no service a yellow warning triangle appears adjacent to the Inbox and Connection Doctor reports,"Trying to log into this MobileMe IMAP account failed. Verify that username and password are correct." Since it does fetch Mail from time to time they cannot be wrong.... can they? Should I update to 10.7 and if so what does that entail?
You have been using MobileMe's email settings, which sometimes continue to work for a time after migration but then get turned off. iCloud's mail server settings are different. Strictly speaking Lion 10.7.2 is required for iCloud, and on that Mail is set up automatically.
Snow Leopard cannot access most of iCloud's facilities, however you can set Mail up manually to access your email. The method is described here:

For that kind of connectivity you need to be using an email account configured either as IMAP or Exchange.
IMAP & Exchange accounts will maintain a sync across all your devices, so if you read / delete a message on your phone, it will disappear from the server as well. This cannot happen in POP email accounts.

Alternatively, if its anything other than Google, you will need to contact your email providor or IT department (if your email address resides with an enterprise environment) to get the correct settings.

Mail notifications not working correctly on iPhone 5
On my new iPhone 5 I have mail notifications set up as on in the notification center, alert style is banners, badge app icon is on and show preview is on, view in lock screen is off. It is set up the same way as when I had an iPhone 4. However, when I get a new email and the phone's screen is not on, the next time I turn it on I will not get the banner alert, all I see is the badge icon. This is kind of annoying as I would like to see the banner to know who the email is from before going into the mail app.
The notifications for mail on my iPad running iOS 6 just like my iPhone 5 are set up the same way and work correctly.

I have tried what you are saying and all the above, I don't think you understand what we are saying is happening to us because you probably never used or use it. We understand that you can see the notification by pulling down the notification tab from the top of the screen but in the past for example on my ipad and iphone 4 it would show you a preview banner of your emails you have received for the day had you not unlocked your phone for any given amount of time and given you did receive any emails the next time you unlocked your phone it would bring up top of the screen a preview of each email you had in your inbox automatically one by one in the banners without having to go to the notification pull down. It is a bug because I guarntee if you turned it on you wouldn't see what were talkin about either and you wouldn't if you've never were setup for that intention either. -
MobileMe and iCloud accounts in Mail on my iPhone

"Open the MobileMe preferences in System Preferences, sign out. Open the Mail, Contacts, Calendars preferences and either turn off the MM account or delete it. The MM account will disappear at the end of June 2012. You can delete any MM account you have currently turned on in your iPhone's settings."
I have the same issue, and that helpful response does not apply in my situation. On my Mac, I am signed out of my MobileMe account; the Mail, Contacts, Calendars preference does not show a MobileMe account, just iCloud.
On my iPhone, Mailboxes in Mail shows my MobileMe address and iCloud entries - both mailboxes/accounts show the same folders and messages. Also, in Settings' Mail, Contacts, Calendars the Accounts does not have a MobileMe entry, just iCloud.
Mailboxes in Mail on my iPad 2, on the other hand, does not show the MobileMe address; it only shows the iCloud entry.
Any recommendations on how to remove the MobileMe entry on my iPhone?Don't count on it! Both my iPad and iPhone4S are on 5.1 and both are having problems right now!

Mail Notifications on MBP Cause Multiple Mails on iPhone
Hi Forum,
during all the problems with Apple Mail, to which i have had a lot, one of the errors has been multiple mails on my iPhone when opnly one appears on my Mini or MBP.
ive just had this problem now, but what i noticed was that my MBP notification for one email kept popping up repeatedly. I didnt realise any significance of this until i picked up my iphone and saw that the email that had these repeating notification banner on the MBp had reproduced itself 7 times on my iphone/!?!?!?!
Any ideas why? How? How to sort?
