MobileMe "mail returned" real or fake?

I've had three of these in two days. Last time it occured, someone here told me they were fake. Seems like an odd form of SPAM but alright. Now it's started again, this time with my MobileMe account.
I recently migrated all my data to a new HD, something of a fresh start.
Tried to post message and Discussions complained of content not permitted. Maybe you can tell something from the copy that apears before the offensive word. (It appears to be trying to sell a male enhancement med.)

Your computer has nothing to do with it. Some computer, somewhere -- Bulgaria, let's say -- is sending out spam. The spam has your email address as the return address. Your address is just a string of text. They do not need access to your computer or your account or anything to do with you. The spammers might even have picked an address at random that just happens to match yours. Some of the spam messages bounce or are rejected by the addressee. Those bounced messages do not go back to Bulgaria. They go to the specified return address: your email account.

  • Whats the difference between  MobileMe Mail forums 960 and 961?

There are two MobileMe Mail forums. One is under "MobileMe on www.me.com" and the other is under "MobileMe on my Mac". There isn't really a new desktop mail application is there? Or am I living in a cave, and just didn't notice the update/announcement?

    Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're seeing ...
No I think you understand. It is just that I've been reading some of the posts in those forums, and it is often hard to tell what exactly people are talking about. The terminology used made me think maybe I had missed something. Maybe there was a MobileMe Mail App on my Mac, I thought that could 'sync' something.
    Examples:
[Where has 'Mail Rules' gone..?|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7645781#7645781] seemed to be describing a webmail interface, but then I wasn't sure.
[Mobile me mail doesn't work at all.|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1616729&tstart=0] mentions mail on the web, but then addresses
[Syncing Mail Folders w/ MobileMe|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1616331&tstart=0] mentions syncing mail folders; made me think maybe there was a feature I had misunderstood.
In general, it is a little hard to tell when people are talking about the web interface or the traditional desktop Mail.app.

  • I keep getting "undelivered mail returned to sender" that comes with an attachment. I have not opened the attachment but the email returned is usually from people that i have not emailed in a long time.

I keep getting "undelivered mail returned to sender" that comes with an attachment. i do not open the attachment but i get email returned from people that i have not emailed in years. I also have current people that tell me they receive email from me and there is nothing on the email and it is a repetative thing for them and for me. I have scanned my computer and it keeps telling me there are no viruses but i keep getting these emails. can anyone help me please!

Someone is probably sending spam with your address forged on the To: line.  Could be one of your old contacts with a Windows machine has a virus that's doing it.  It's also possible your e-mail account has been hacked, though I'd think such a hacker would be a bit more purposeful.

  • Can I stop the same Mail returning after deleting ?

I acn't seem to stop the same mail returning time after time. There are about 10 items of various previous dates that cme back from 'MAIL DELIVERY SYSTEM' - Delivery Status Notification (failure)...
I have tried, Bouncing, deleting and marking it JUNK but they reappear in my INBOX almost immediately.
I have also noticed that recently I am having to Force Quit MAIL very much more often.
Any one have any ideas, please ?

    Hi loons,
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.

  • Cannot view MobileMe Mail via Safari 5.1.1 in Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

I am trying to view MobileMe Mail using Safari 5.1.1 using Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I can view Contacts, iDisk, etc., but for whatever reason, cannot see Mail. The page displays the message "Loading Mail..." and then stops loading. When I use Firefox, I have no issues whatsoever. Anyone having a similar issue?

Go to Safari / Preferences  then select the Privacy tab then click: Details
Type   apple   in the search field top right corner of the window, click Done.
    Quit then relaunch Safari.
    Try www.me.com
And try emptying the Safari cache. Either from the Safari menu bar or Command + Option + E

MobileMe Mail suddenly STOPPED showing Incoming Mail on my Mac

Again, thanks for your very comprehensive input. I forgot that I still am not now able to sync my iPhone calendar, contacts or Bookmarks with my MacBook calendar, contacts or Bookmarks.
I will try your suggestion "to sync my calendars to iCloud by means of (the) unsupported hack,  This page outlines the situation when you have migrated to iCloud on Snow Leopard, including a link to the calendar hack:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudSL.html
Maybe something will evolve for syncing my Contacts and Bookmarks and iCloud.
(My MacBook - SnowLeopard - 1.83 GHz, Intel Core Duo -- will NOT accommodate Lion.
Is there any way to upgrade my processor to Intel Core 2 Duo?

  • Mail can't send mobileme mail

On two iPads, mobileme mail gets stuck on 'sending'. It periodically will say that smtp.me.com failed. I've tried deleting the account to no avail. I can receive email and browse the internet no problem.
Possibly related, I upgraded my router to a Time Capsule at about the same time this started happening, but I can't be sure it is the problem. I have an iMac on the same wireless network that can send email from the same address.

I don't think it would make sense that the router would haveanything to do with it. I am having the same issue, but only from the Mac Mailapp. My iPad and iPhone have no issues sending Mail. For whatever reason, theapp couldn't send mail the day of Apple's announcement of iCloud and theclosing of MobileMe. It shouldn’t affect it because MobileMe will still bearound until next year but I still think it’s a little weird.

  • Why can't I get MobileMe mail to show on iPad mail app, google mail only?

Within mail app on my ipad only google mail will show as an active account, no in box etc for my MobileMe mail? I've set the account for MobileMe up the same on my iPhone and both google &amp; MobileMe mail accounts sit happily next to each other on that device. Any ideas, clever people. Incidentally all other aspects of MobileMe work great on iPad.

    Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Select your MobileMe account.
Is Mail turned on in addition to Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks, etc.?

  • Suddenly, I cannot attach files to MobileMe mail

I always use Mozilla Firefox to access MobileMe. Suddenly I find out that I cannot attach files to my MobileMe mail. Please let me know how to fix this.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • MobileMe mail server offline

I am having lots of trouble sending mail using the outgoing MobileMe mail server - it continuously says it is offline. Do I need to reinstall my MobileMe mail account after Lion upgrade?

I have had no problem sending through Mobile Me from either Lion version of Mail, or any other device, including PC  -  just checked and mobile me server accepted my message fine and sent it on.
So it's not affecting me in Australia.
All functions of Mobile Me that I use are still functional  -  still not sure when I will need to shift over to the iCloud.
