MobileMe on iPad

Hi,
we recently added to our "tools" (next to iPhone) 2 iPads; struggling a bit with the way (philosophy) MobileMe is accessed: I can access it from my MacPro ( or iMac) with <www.me.com> under Safari, ( use mainly for new folders' generation, iDisk access, Gallery uploads)
- 1. I have impression that this link DOES NOT work on iPad (or iPhone): at least it always redirects me to an intro-page , rather then letting me actually log-in -> Thus: a) is it MEANT, that all settings-changes are only made on the "mother"-Macs ( or any other PC) ? b) CAN I log-in via iPad, if YES - HOW ?? -- 2. when I have added new bookmarks ( or let's say the iPad), will MobileMe push it to the Mac and/or vice versa -- 3. is bookmark-syncing only possible via the iTunes-Sync pathway, which as we all know takes quite a bit, every time ( SYNCing indeed is still sluggish in my configuration) - thnx

@Tom Gewecke: sorry, was not specific enough: no, I meant just <www.me.com>.However, I conclude: 1. One has to access INDOVIDUAL functions ( iDisk, iGallery via the respective apps - vs via the "integrated" web-site; mobileMe Mail simply via the MAIL fuction), AND all settings issues require the Mac as a "master" - 2.there still remains inconsistency in the user interface, somehow, I feel - 3. the syncing story ( eg for bookmarks etc) is set up via System prefs, I understand. - 4. so the LAST lttle Q: do iPhones /iPads need registration for this syncing , such as other computers ? -- the links were helpful, thanks -- needs getting accustomed, in a way

  • ICal Google CalDav to MobileMe and iPad Synch dis-connect.  HELP?

I recently added a Google CalDav account, so my iCal would synch with my new Android device. That part works fine. He is my question: iCal events using this Google account will NOT synch with either my iPad OR MobileMe.
    What gives?

I think the answers are partly already in your question...
MobileMe has the important limitation that you either sync all calendars, or none. So, you are not going to be able to sync some of the calendars using one MobileMe account, and the others using another account. However, I can see two workarounds:
    1) Use MobileMe to sync your work calendars, and Google to sync your personal calendars, or vice-versa.
    2) If you really want to only use MobileMe, you could create two user accounts on your personal Mac, one for each MobileMe account. Your personal user account would only have your personal calendars, and your work user account would only have your work calendars. If you still wanted to be able to display your work calendars on your personal user account, you could publish the work calendars to the work iDisk (using the procedure in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2071 to password-protect them) and subscribe to them on your personal user account. But, as you pointed out, you would not be able to edit them; you would have to switch to the work user account to make changes to the work calendars.
    Hope this solves your problem
    P.S.: I have 12 calendars, so I win

  • Help with Mobileme, iCloud, iPad, iPhone and MS Outlook 2010

    Hello,
    WHAT I HAVE NOW
I'm in a bit of mess and don't want to proceed until I can get some answers.  I have an iPad, iPhone and a PC (Windows 7).  I have a mobileme account also.  I also have iCloud Control Panel installed on my PC and recently bought MS Outlook 2010 to migrate from mobileme to iCloud and get this whole synching thing under control. Everything has been updated to the latest versions for iCloud.
I have an att.net email account (ran by Yahoo Pop3), live.com account, hotmail account, gmail account, mobileme account.  I have contacts in my most of these email accounts but there are many duplicates and info needs to be updated.  With iCloud and mobileme running, I have numerous calendars and can't get any of them synched.
    WHAT I WANT
I would like to migrate from mobileme to iCloud and use the iCloud Control Panel and MS Outlook 2010 to synch my mail, contacts and calendars from my PC, iPhone 4s and iPad (version).  I only want ONE calendar and ONE contact list.  Can there be a MASTER contact list within Outlook 2010 instead of all of these contacts from various email accounts? If so, would I create a master contact list within Outlook 2010 and then go to the various web email programs and delete their contacts? How to I get these calendars under control with one Home calendar?
WHAT I HAVE DONE SO FAR
I started to migrate from mobileme to iCloud but stopped to install MS Outlook 2010 first.  I installed MS Outlook 2010 and got all of my email accounts imported even having to manually move the att.net (Yahoo Pop3) messages because the folders and emails within would not transfer from Windows Live Email to Outlook.  Currently having problems trying to get the contacts unduplicated and corrected but when I save a newly corrected contact, it disappears.  Are these contacts synching as I insert them and then disappearing?  Should I go offline to create correct this contact list?  What will happen when I add iCloud to the mix? Will I have to go back and correct all duplicates again? Can someone provide the order of these steps to take the least amount of time?
I know this is a lot but it's fairly complicated to me and I also have another person in my house that has a PC, iPad and iPhone for whom I have to do the same thing.  Trying to not waste time and do this the right way first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I backed up everything and finally took the leap to migrate from mobileme to iCloud.  With a few glitches all seems to be working except that iCloud did not grab the updated and current Contact list from MS Outlook 2010 and seems to have an outdated contact list with only half the number of contacts.
Can someone help me get iCloud to grab the correct contact list out of MS Outlook 2010 so that it can be distributed to my iPad and iPhone also? Thanks!

  • Accessing MobileMe from iPad Browser

I'm sure there's a simple solution to this, but how does one go about accessing the MobileMe website from the iPad safari browser? Every time I try to access my account it brings me to the "welcome to the iPad" page where it wants me to set up my accounts etc. There is NO WAY I can see to bypass this to access my iDisk account....
While I'm here, let me just do the requisite complaining about the lack of integration between the iPad and MobileMe. This is Apple, right? How about at least updating the iDisk and gallery apps to iPad format?

    Tom Gewecke wrote:
my friend wants check his MobileMe Email on my iPad, he cannot do that.
    Is there another way??
Try using a different browser like iCab.
Tried iCab. I can log in to MobileMe, but the buttons for selecting galleries do not work. Same for all of the other functions except selecting the MobileMe area (Mail, Gallery, etc.) and logout. Not a bad browser, but it does not work with me.com - at least for me.
My iPad has a big enough screen to manage galleries and photos. It would be nice to ba able to do that. GoodReader works great for documents.

  • Accessing MobileMe Using iPad

I have two MobileMe accounts - one for business, one for personal use - and I would like to access MobileMe using Safari on my iPad, just like I can with my MacBook Pro. But when I use Safari on the iPad to access MobileMe, I get the sync screen instead of the sign-in screen.
Is there someway around this using my iPad?
I don't want to sync - for various reasons - I just want to access my MobileMe accounts.
    Thanks

There is no way around this.
You can create/access both accounts with the iPad's Mail application and if you want to access email only with one account, and sync contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks with the other account addition to accessing email with the 2nd account, you can disable syncing contacts, calendars, and Safari bookmarks with the first account with email account access enabled only for the account.

  • ICal 2.0.5 and iOS 4.1 vs. MobileMe

I have a PPC iMac G5 running OS 10.4.11 and utilizing iCal 2.0.5. These are the latest versions of the respective software that this computer can run. I recently paid for a family MobileMe account in the hopes of coordinating my calendars and contacts across several devices (PPC iMac G5, iPhone 3GS, new 27" Intel iMac (Leopard), and an iPad.
When I originally tried to connect the iPad to the PPC iMac, I got an error message saying the software was not current enough to support the iPad. I went over to the kids' computer, the Intel iMac, and set up the MobileMe and iPad there. I came back to the PPC iMac and activated .Mac syncing, expecting iCal on the PPC iMac to transfer everything to MobileMe.
The contacts transferred fine, but the calendars did not. My PPC iCal had different data than MobileMe and my iPhone 3GS. I read a couple of Apple support articles, backed up my phone and iCal, and reset sync data (calendars and contacts only) from the PPC iMac to .Mac, ostensibly MobileMe. Again, some of the calendar data transferred but all did not. At that point, I went back to iCal and unchecked "sync with .Mac" because I need the PPC iMac and iPhone 3GS data to conform.
    The big questions are:
Will the older version of iCal (2.0.5) successfully update MobileMe? If so, how do I set that up? If not, tell my husband we need to buy a new computer.
Is there any way currently to accurately synchronize my data between the PPC iMac, the iPhone 3GS, the iPad, and MobileMe?
I fear the old PPC iMac needs to go.
    Thanks for reading this far,
    LZRandall

    Please check http://pygmysoftware.com/software/scalp/
There is a new version of Scalp working with 2.0.5 again and brings back usable FTP-export.

  • How to add addresses to groups in iPad? How to send to group?

Address book has not synced properly from my computer to Mobile Me for ages, well before I added my iPad to my stable of products. I've gone through all the advice here and traveled unsuccessful loops to push it or force it to sync again. I deleted every address manually from MobileMe and had it re-populate. It replicated what I just deleted and did not pull the new information from my MacPro. I truly do not understand where MobileMe keeps that old list in its memory and why it insists on reloading outdated information..I would guess there is at least a 40% inaccuaracy with the MobileMe and iPad addresses. It's popping up again addresses that have long been deleted from my MacPro and the has a complete absence of new addresses from my "Master" address book on my MacPro. I have reselected my MacPro as the master in System Preferences and asked it to sync again many times.
I have synced my iPad directly from my MacPro. Still the same old version which matches the MobileMe address book keeps showing up on my iPad. Here's a small twist:  I recently added a new group in my MacPro Master Address Book. Both MobileMe and the iPad picked up the name of group but it contains NO contacts or addresses. At first the new group name was appearing in my iPad address book on both the lists labeled 'From my Mac' and 'MobileMe' but now the group name is missing from the 'From my Mac' list. Very odd, since that is the only place that the group actually exists!
MobileMe is currently unresponsive on loading contacts or my calendar so I can't get on the website to verify that version. The rest of MobileMe appears to be working but the iCal error message I sent to Apple bounced.
I cannot upgrade to Lion :-( so trying iCloud is not an option.
I see no way within the iPad to move contacts from the All Contacts list into a new group. If I could do move them within the iPad address book that would take care of the majority of the addresses I want in the new group list. The only thing I can see to do in the iPad is to retype the entire contact information or engage in a time consuming cut and paste transfer of each contact. Both of those options are too daunting to be acceptable. There are about fifty contacts I want in the group.
There does not appear to be a way to send a vCard to the iPad to add that to its Address Book and even if that worked I don't see how to tag anything to move it into any group on the iPad. How do people without a computer get any use out of the iPad's AB? Its limitations are so frustrating to me. I detest sending emails to multiple people from my iPad and save those for when I can get on my computer.
I just tried to set up a 'send to group' email from one of my existing groups in my iPad address book and I don't see anyway to do that from the address book. I went into Mail on the iPad and I don't see how to address an email to more than one person at a time except by typing the first few letters of each name and selecting each person I want to add from the drop down list that appears. Please tell me there's a better way to send to a group of people. If not, I need a recommendation for an address app with better functionality.
I have some urgency for accomplishing this as I will be spending the day in the hospital and want to report results to friends and loved ones as quickly as possible.

    Hi
You asked about a recommendation for an app to paste a group of addresses into the To, Cc or Bcc fields of an email?
Our "MailShot Pro" app is the only one we know of on the App Store that creates special "group contacts" in your address book which contain all your groups email addresses, but can be used just like regular contacts from most of your favourite apps. We now have nearly 50000 people using it, and growing steadily every day.
Here is a link if you would like to know more “MailShot Pro” (itunes link).
A free version is also available if you'd like to try it out with a small nmber of contacts.
If you need any customer support just contact us at the website, we're always happy to help.

  • IPad email not sending

    Hello all,
I just composed an email on my iPad, tapped [Send], and it disappeared. Permanently, by the looks of things. The Drafts, Outbox, Sent Messages and Sent folders are all empty. There is no record of my composed outgoing message.
Here's my only clue: When I check all the places said email should be residing, all the folders are hung up in "Connecting" status.
    Outgoing mail server settings: fine.
    Internet connection: fine.
    I can receive mail.
I asked the guy next to me to check his work mail (coxmail) from his Mac Book Air...fine.
Do I need help? or just a beer? what am I missing?

Were you sending via a MobileMe SMTP Server?  You may find the following chat session with MobileMe amusing and it may explain the problem either from the IPAD Mail program or MobileMe or other "online servers" such as Google, Hotmail etc.
I didn't have much room to write and couldn't review what I was writing.
    Customer [7:14 p.m.]:
I composed two messages today. A new message and a reply to a message I received on my MobileMe server.
    Customer [7:14 p.m.]:
Whatever the reason, my default SMTP for new messages was MobileMe.
    Customer [7:14 p.m.]:
At the time I composed the messages I didn't know I was offline (I am in a hotel where I need to authenticate every 24 hours).
    Customer [7:15 p.m.]:
I authenticated and went back online and just assumed my mail would be sent. I checked my mail and was receiving mail on all three servers.
    Customer [7:15 p.m.]:
I realized later that the two emails I composed did not send, were not in sent items, were not in drafts, and not in "outbox"
    Customer [7:16 p.m.]:
I then tried to recreate the problem by going offline.
    Customer [7:16 p.m.]:
I composed a message with me.com as the server - the message did not appear anywhere after pressing send.
    Customer [7:16 p.m.]:
not in drafts or an outbox or any other folder.
    Customer [7:16 p.m.]:
When I went online however, the message was found in some kind of cache and sent.
    Customer [7:17 p.m.]:
Now I'm hoping there is a way to retrieve these two messages
    Advisor [7:18 p.m.]:
I can understand your concern with this issue. What were the subject titles of the emails you are searching for?
    Customer [7:18 p.m.]:
I can give you an approximate time I went online.
    Customer [7:19 p.m.]:
I believe one was called "status" and the other was "card details"
    Customer [7:20 p.m.]:
Six hours and 40 minutes ago - roughly
    Advisor [7:20 p.m.]:
Okay, thank you. Actually right now we are having a issue with all mail servers today. At this time, we are asking customers to use their online account at www.me.com to send and receive messages. This is a brand new issue and we are working to get this resolved as soon as possible.
    Customer [7:21 p.m.]:
Here is my concern. The email I wrote was long and involved and to recreate it would be very difficult - do you believe this email has been permanently lost?
    Advisor [7:23 p.m.]:
No, absolutely. If the mail was sent through MobileMe servers then it is there.
    Customer [7:23 p.m.]:
Well that is what I'm asking - was it left in some unknown cache location on my iPad or was it transmitted?
    Customer [7:23 p.m.]:
    How would I know.
    Advisor [7:24 p.m.]:
No, I'm talking about MobileMe servers that you would not be able to see on your iPad or in me.com. Not a Sent folder or Draft folder. We would have to retrieve the message.
    Customer [7:27 p.m.]:
I understand that - but since I tried to recreate the problem I noticed that a message composed and sent on the ipad while offline is "saved" in an unknown location. When coming back online the mysteriously "saved" message is found by either MobileMe and Ipad and "sending" appears below the status. Of course these two emails have now been missing for almost 7 hours so I was wondering if you can confirm they are on your server.
    Advisor [7:29 p.m.]:
We cannot see actual messages or their titles on the server. We can only see the amount of messages in each folder. They would have to searched for to pull them from the server.
    Customer [7:29 p.m.]:
ok what is the next step - as this is time sensitive.
    Advisor [7:30 p.m.]:
Please give me a few minutes.
    Customer [7:40 p.m.]:
I'll be away from my computer for a few minutes as well so if you return in my absence please don't disconnect
    Advisor [7:41 p.m.]:
Thank you for waiting. This issue requires an escalation which means a Senior Advisor will contact you within 24-48 hours through an alternate email address. Can you provide an alternate email address please?

  • Uploading PDFs to my iPad via iCloud

I don´t know, and I wonder, if it´s possible to upload from my Mac directly to my iPad via iCloud a document like a PDF without using iTunes.
    Regards.

  • Ical + ipad + Desktop = "like" 500 calendars on Sync????

Hi Somebody Please Help solve my problem.
I have a number of Macs.
    I have MobileMe.
Everytime I sync My iPad to iTunes I end up with "Like" 50 "personal Calendars... and Evry calendar I have ever subscribed to. It's Insane. I'm trying to get organized. So I wnet to iCal on My laptop (my main machine) and manually deleted everything but the 6 calendars that I use.
Then I went to MobileMe prefrences and "reset my sync data" by REPLACING the data on Mobile Me with the Set that I just trimmed down.
But yet again after I synced my ipad through iTunes I ended up With "Like" 500 calendars again in both on my ipad and on my Laptop.
    Please Help

    Greetings,
If the issue re-occured after syncing with the iPad that suggests you may have a bad calendar database on iPad.
    1. Clean up your computer's calendar
    2. Once clean, backup your computer calendar so you don't have to clean it again (File > Export > Archive).
    3. Make sure you are not syncing with both MobileMe on iPad and through the cable. Choose one or the other.
    4. If syncing using the cable on iPad go to iTunes, click on iPad, click on Info, then go down to the bottom in the Advanced section and check off the option to replace the iCal data on iPad. This will erase all the iCal data on the iPad and replace it with what is on the computer.
Once the sync is complete check both computer and iPad to make sure they show the calendars as they should. If so, add a new event to one of them and sync again to make sure it passes the change through.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can't synchronize macbookpro with iMac using icloud

Can anyone help me?? I updated the OS on my iMac with Lion. Got everything running smoothly with the with the switch from MobileMe (iphone, ipad).  All except my macbook, it didn't synch again (contacts, calendars, me.com emails).  So I updated the OS on the macbook pro with Lion and now everything is a mess.  The iphone and ipad are okay, but now my calendar stuff is missing in my iMac and when I installed Lion on my macbook, it created a new email address for it, and I can't synch it with my emails from iMac (me.com).  I can't seem to synchronize my contacts from my iMac to my macbook either, even though everything is set up in preferences and in the system preferences to iCloud.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • ICloud not syncing on IOS5 devices

My iCloud is syncing correctly with my Outlook 2007 and iCloud.com.  But it is not syncing with any of my IOS5 devices (iPhone 4/iPad). On both of my IOS devices in the settings I am logged into iCloud and I have each of the options to sync turned on. But nothing is syncing with iCloud on my iOS devices.
I used mobile me for several years and it synced fine with Outlook/Mobileme/iPhone/iPad.  But after I made the move from Mobileme to iCloud yesterday, nothing is syncing betweenany of my IOS devices after I installed IOS5. Is anyone else having this issue?

i just posted something that maybe related. I only found this post after the fact. my issue happened after i made some changes to my contacts folder in iCloud. Only iOS devices are affected.  PC and MACs are syncing okay.

  • Address Book is missing Notes probably due to syncing

I'm having trouble with notes that I have entered in the Note section of Address Book. Some of my Notes are disappearing entirely for seemingly random contacts. Out of about 2000 contacts the notes for about ten or twenty random contacts disappear forever. This has been happening to me for years using Address Book although I frequently update. I'm guessing that its related to problems synching my Address Book with my iPhone, MobileMe, and iPad. I backup using MobileMe and Time Machine. Any suggestions on how to prevent this persistent problem? Also, is there an easy way to restore just those missing notes from Time Machine without replacing my entire Address Book with an old copy that will almost certainly be inferior because it is not up to date. I can't take the time to go through all 2000 contacts to figure out which ones have missing notes.

Hopefully your computer included the correct install-restore discs and if the
OS was an upgraded version from the original, those discs are there, too.
You can use a demo mode of Pacifist (download from CharlesSoft) and
have it extricate the specific parts of the correct OS X Installer and then
it can install just the missing item(s) from the desktop. This is a bit tricky.
(Should be better than performing an Archive & Install to just get one part.
And the A&I process doesn't require wiping the hard drive, just upgrading.)
    Sometimes the instructions with Pacifist appear to be counter-intuitive;
so if the utility does not work, be sure to recall details of what you did
and try the other possible path. Be sure to repair disk permissions on
the system once you are done; that shouldn't hurt but may help.
If you had a bootable full computer clone on an external hard disk drive,
you could probably just get the Address Book from there. However,
some of the main system parts need to be Installed correctly since a
few other parts get put into places where they aren't really seen.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Subscribing to iCal calendars

MacOS X 10.7.2 + iCloud.  Apple maintains a list of calendars that you can subscribe to using the iCal calendar app.  I've been trying to subscribe to the US Holiday Calendar in iCloud  but every time I do that iCloud eventually deletes it.  If I use MobileMe, I get two copies of everything in the calendar.
    How can I fix this?

    Greetings,
This question would probably be best posted in the MobileMe or iPad or iPhone forum as you are not using the iCal application on a Mac.
That said let me take a crack at your question:
__MobileMe does not have an interface to subscribe to published calendars.
__iPhone -- Go to Settings > Mail/Contacts/Calendars/ > Add Account > Other > Add Subscribed Calendar
__iPad -- Same as iPhone give or take. Search for "subscribe" in the iPad manual: http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPad_UserGuide.pdf
    Hope that helps.
