MobileMe screwed up my iCal

Today I found two new calendar in my MobileMe, Work and Private. I had deleted them long time back, but all my other calendars were gone. So I decided to synch the stuff again. Result, no message while synching, however after the synch all my calendars in iCal are gone too and I can't add any new one anymore. If I click on add calendar, NOTHING happens.
Anybody having a clue to fix that, for sure I won't touch MobileMe anymore, needless to mention to renew the crap. But at least I would like to get iCal working again.

There is no way to reverse this.
Best and probably faster to do the cleanup/removal of old stuff with iCal on your Mac, which will update your MM online calendar followed by updating your iPhone's calendar.

  • Two MobileMe calendars show in iCal

After transiting MobileMe to iCloud, my iCal on iMac shows two MobileMe calendar categories.
But my iCal on MacBook Air shows one MobileMe calendar category, and one iCloud calendar category.
Why are there two different results on Mac OS X Lion?

iCal is still referencing your MobileMe account in addition to iCloud's interface.
Whatever you do, don't try to delete the MobileMe individual calendars directly in the Calendars button in iCal!  The action will replicate to your iCloud account and destroy them as well. I learned this the hard way.
To correct your issue, perfom the following steps:
    Open iCal's preferences
    Click on Accounts
You'll see at least two accounts including one for iCloud and your MobileMe account.
Highlight the MobileMe account, then click the minus sign to remove the account (this will leave your iCloud accounts in tact.)
    Cheers!

  • Transitioned from MobileMe to iCloud, need iCal help!

I've made the transition from MobileMe to iCloud.  My Macbook's system prefs shows on iCloud account, using my mobileme email.  My iCal however, only shows my me.com calendars, while the iCloud.com online calendar only shows the two default calendars.  Am I missing something?

I am in EXACTLY the same boat.
Double points to the correct answer!
    Good luck Chris.

  • MobileMe has locked my iCal

I was a MobileMe subscriber and decided not to renew my subscription.  I just let it lapse.
Now when I try to get into iCal I get a constant message stating that it doesn't recognize my MobileMe user name and password and that I need to check those.  And it won't let me do ANYTHING in iCal.  I have to force quit in order to close it because the error message keeps popping up no matter if I select the "Revert to Server" or "Go offline" options in the dialog.
If I go to MobileMe in the System Preferences I get the message that my username and password are invalid and invites me to re-up my subscription.
So how do I remove the MobileMe connection in iCal (do I have to edit the plist?)?  And is it possible to do so without losing all my calendar events?
And while it shouldn't make any difference, I'm running OS 10.6.7 on an old 2Ghz MacBook.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Surely you've been keeping regular backups that you could access, right?

  • Mobileme will not send iCal to computer

My iPhone works great with Mobileme, and iCal on my computer will send info to MobileMe, but I can not get Mobileme changes to my calendar to go to my computer iCal. I tried reseting sync history but it didn't help. I even tried to reset sync data from mobile me to my computer, but iCal did not get the data from Mobileme.
    Help!

Thanks for some input, I though I was alone out here. I did get some relief by deleteing calendar items older than 60 days; some items now come through to my MacBook iCal program from MobileMe, but not all of them??? My iCal file was over 5 mb, and is now just over 1mb - perhaps the size of iCal is part of the problem. I sure wish they would solve this problem because everything else is going great.

  • Sync MobileMe and iPhone to iCal?

Is it possible to have the iPhone and MobileMe only sync some of the calendars you have saved within iCal software, but not sync all of the calendars?

Sorry, I re-read this and realized that my explanation of the problem may not have been clear. (I need to get more sleep)
When I add a new event into iCal on my Mac it shows up at 1:45pm EST. When the event syncs via MobileMe it shows up as 6:45pm (18:45) on my iPhone and in MobileMe online. How can I get the events to shows up at the correct time (1:45pm) on my iPhone and online?
    Thanks

  • HELP:  screwed up my iCal and can't go back!

I use iCal on my iPhone and sync it to MobileMe via push. I have been having problems with iCal on my PB, and haven't been syncing to there, but today I tried it. Stupidly I didn't turn off push, and instead of taking the info on my iPhone and in MobileMe, which is the current stuff, I managed to sync everything to the iCal on my computer which is old stuff. Is there any way at all that I can reverse this? I backed up my iPhone this morning, but not the calendar because it was on MobileMe. Help!!!!

There is no way to reverse this.

  • MobileMe Email Aliases in iCal

    Hi-
For a party I'm hosting, I set up a separate email address (through MobileMe Email Aliases) for my guests to RSVP. I'm the "surprise host," if you will. I give my guests the option of receiving an iCal-based invitation as well, so that the system will remind them about the party date and time and they don't have to constantly check the invitation again and again and again. However, whenever I send iCal invitations, it sends through my real mail account, not the Alias I set up, which gives the secret away. Is there any way to run iCal invitations through the Alias instead of through my name? I can do this with regular emails running through "Mail" but cannot seem to figure out how to do essentially the same thing through iCal. Thanks!

My Sister contacted MobileMe before purchasing the new iMac for $2500 in February of this year.
MobileMe stated then that iCloud would be taking over on June 30th, 2012.
And that If she had 5 aliases, she could keep them and they would transfer over to iCloud from MobileMe. And they all did, in the beginning.
All went well until June 30th when the aliases no longer appeared on the iCloud.com server page when she went to Preferences/Accounts. (MY IMAC IS FINE, SHOWS ALL 4 ALIASES)
My Sister and I bought new computers to retain all of our aliases.
We have been customers of Apple Mail since 2005 when it was DotMac, AT $99 PER YEAR (x 7 YEARS)
NOW, 5 ALIASES WORK, ALL CAN BE USED TO SEND AND RECEIVE,
BUT ARE NOT ON ICLOUD. COM SERVER IN ACCOUNTS....
TO TURN OFF FOR A WHILE TO ENCOURAGE SPAMMERS TO LEAVE, ...
    OR TO DELETE OR CHANGE.
I WAS AT HER HOUSE FRIDAY LAST WEEK WHEN SHE ARRANGED FOR THE ONE-TIME-FEE TO BE WAIVED FOR HER QUESTION/PROBLEM.
I COULD NOT BELIEVE THEY HAD NO ANSWER ABOUT THIER PROBLEM.
BUT SHE GOT A CASE NUMBER EMAILED TO HER IN THE MIDDLE OF THEIR RUNAROUND, TRANSFERRING HER TO MOBILE ME, THEN ASKING ANOTHER SENIOR ADVISOR, ETC!
I WISH YOU ALL COULD HAVE BEEN THERE.
IT WAS LIKE THEY WERE GETTING READY TO SHUT IT DOWN JUST LIKE THE MOBILEME TRANSITION FROM DOTMAC !
...NOT THE APPLE COMPANY I KNEW IN 2005.

  • Is it possible to disable MobileMe sync to get ical sync to work?

iPhone to iCal sync worked fine before MobileMe enabled. Is it possible to disable the MobileMe sync until this issue gets resolved? Can't seem to revert the settings now that it is set up. Calendar notes don't copy, events get dropped. MobileMe is not fit for purpose at present.

  • No Birthdays on iPhone - MobileMe Screwed Up!!!

I need help with getting my birthdays on my iPhone. I have it enabled on my iCal and it shows on my MoblieMe account online - but NOTHING on my iphone! I discovered this after I missed my Mom's birthday Grrrrr....
I noticed that the "Birthday" calendar is listed on MoblieMe account as a subscription; and since I've signed up for MoblieMe all birthdays & anniversaries show up twice on my iCal (double).
    Please send help!!

    One thing that might help.
Here is an article from the apple support website that might help out.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1213
When you enable show birthdays in your ical preferences, it shows up under subscribed calendar section.
If you would like to leave feedback about this option, this link might help out.

    Hope this helps.

  • OS X 10.5.3 has screwed up my iCal - can anyone give me a hand?

I just installed the new system update (10.5.3) and upon rebooting my unit, I have discovered that my iCal has lost all of my events with the exception of repeated events (many of which are long out-of-date).
I do have an iCal backup from a month-and-a-half ago which I could use as a last resort (it would be missing quite a bit of valuable content). I also have a time machine backup from two days ago - which, if there was a way, would yield the best possible restoration scenario.
Please let me know if you have any insight into this.
    Thanks!

I too am having major problems since the upgrade, I'm using .mac sync too.
As soon as I opened iCal I found that I had duplicates of every calendar, but the duplicates contained no events. However the original 6 calendars that I had (briefly 12!) had duplicate events or events that I had deleted long ago. Hundreds of them.
I've spent the morning tidying it up, deleting the caches, deleting hundreds of events to find that even though my iCal looks fine now it won't sync with .mac properly - 800+ conflicts, some of which make no sense, for example choose between an event that is empty with no data whatsoever (iCal) or my Wife's birthday, repeats every year etc (.mac).
I worked my way through them all then did the .mac sync - another 750+ conflicts arose.
I replaced all data on .mac with data from my computer. Still more conflicts than jungle warfare.
I've turned off .mac sync now.
It won't sync with my iPod Classic correctly. Some of the calendars on the iPod contain no events at all - even though I sync all calendars. I have no events on my Motorola SLVR after using iSync either.
All 6 calendars appear but some are correct whilst others are empty.
I'm off to buy a Filofax now.

  • Since moving from MobileMe to iCloud my ical

    Hi.
Since moving from Mobile-me to iCloud nothing is syncing: iCal, contacts etc. Any ideas?
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem but only with iCal. Contacts and reminders seem to be there.  When I try troubleshooting and go to my MacBook Apple>Preferences>iCloud, I keep getting the same screen advertising iCloud and telling me to use it I should "Move to iCloud."  Each time I do that, in just goes into an endless loop of Find my Phone.  WTH?  Help!

  • Change calendar name first in ical or mobileMe?

I've consolidated some calendars into one "new test" calendar. checked and triple checked to make sure everything i want is in that one calendar.
i want to change the name of that calendar. it's synced with the new mobileMe calendar.
do i change the name on mobileme? or in iCal? both places? and if that's so, which one first? I don't wanna screw this up and have to go thru the considerably work i did to finally get the calendar in the shape i want it in.
    thanks

Yeah, me too. After lots more reading and poking I was still reluctant to change in either location. So I called MobileMe support and they said change it in either place. The techie and I agreed it might make more sense to change it in the Cloud. I did, and within minutes the calendar names had also changed (with all data intact) in both iCal and BusyCal.
I use the latter because it puts icons in events that have alarms/alerts set. Maybe i said so before, but iCal used to do that and the (useful) feature was inexplicably deleted. I say inexplicably because not even the apple gurus at the apple booth back when apple had a presence at MWSF, could explain the deletion. Several of them seemed surprised when i told them--and then had to show them!

  • ICal Calendars list blank, MissingSync, MobileMe issues

I'm using OS X 10.4.11 and iCal 2.0.5. I recently installed Missing Sync 6.0.4 for Palm OS (to sync with a Palm TX), so am finally actually using iCal instead of the Palm calendar. I also just got around to resubscribing to .mac (without realizing that I was doing so smack in the midst of the MobileMe launch). I'm listing all three of these questions together in case there's some connection -- most likely something connected to MissingSync or MobileMe setup.
    1. iCal was working fine for me, synched with the Palm via Missing Sync, etc., but now I can't see the list of calendars. I can see events in the calendar itself, color-coded for different calendars, but nothing shows up in the calendars list (left-hand pane). Any ideas how to get that list back?
And two other questions, in case anyone here has answers:
    2. Sent this query to Mark/Space (MissingSync) a couple days ago, but no reply yet -- when I sync Palm and iCal, events entered on the Palm do not get copied to the laptop. No error messages, and all else goes fine ... Events conduit is set for "Synchronize," "All calendars," and to put read-only events in "Unfiled."
    3. Sent this query twice to Mac's MobileMe help, but have gotten only a completely unhelpful form letter with generic links back ... (Yes, I realize their support people are probably utterly bogged down right now.) I used to have .Mac, but expired 1/07. Now have a .Me account. I can't sync at all, even just to my iDisk (let alone with my other Mac) -- .Mac in System Preferences won't let me set up Sync (when I click that tab, it "thinks" for a while, then get a "problem with the sync operation: .Mac login failed" error message). Specifically re: iCal: is there some workaround? Some painless way to sync iCal events to iDisk without a functioning Sync feature? I'm hoping the sync failure is just a temporary glitch, and not a sign that I need to upgrade to Tiger if I want basic .Mac-level functionality, but main thing is just being able to view/use my iCal calendars from my work computer!

Installation continues to degrade. On startup of the application, all buttons and controls are missing.
Closing and restarting iCal causes the buttons and controls to return, but all calendar entries are missing.
Restarting the computer causes the sequence to start again - controls are missing, restarting the app brings them back but then calendar entries are useless.
    Totally useless.

  • ICal not syncing correctly with MobileMe

For the last week or so, ever since MobileMe was being updated, my iCal synching with MobileMe and iPhone has stopped working correctly. When I enter a meeting into iCal, it syncs to MobileMe and therefore my iPhone.
HOWEVER, any new calendar entries from the iPhone (or MobileMe's website directly), do not show up on iCal even after i try to manually Sync them. Furthermore, if I change the time of a meeting or call on iCal, a DUPLICATE meeting is created in MobileMe, thus polluting my calendar on the iPhone and MobileMe with multiple entries. When I am on the road, I can't figure out which is the correct meeting anymore.
Not sure if this is due to new iTunes or the update with MobileMe servers last week.
Here is what I have done to troubleshoot this to date:
    - In MobileMe preferences, I stopped synching my MacBook with MobileMe and wiped out all of the data on MobileMe. I rebooted my MacBook, then, I Reset Sync Data from iCal to MobileMe. It seeded fine, but still doesn't show any appointments created from the iPhone or within MobileMe on my iCal after re-syncing.
    - I deleted my MobileMe account on my iPhone. Rebooted iPhone. Re-added my MobileMe account to the iphone and synched the calendar. The calendar syncs and shows up, but still no appointments created on my iPhone or within MobileMe show on my iCal.
    - I have also tried to NARROW the variables of my issue by not synching ANYTHING ELSE other than iCal (no contacts, mail settings etc.). To No avail, still doesn't work.
Any suggestions?? I sense there is something cached in the bowels of my iCal settings, but have no idea to re-set them to re-enable synching.

I solved the issue. I took a risk and wiped my MobileMe account clean one last time, then RESET SYNCH Data from my MacBook to MobileMe.
Then, I crossed my fingers and deleted my calendars on my iCal desktop.
I then, chose RESET SYNCH Data FROM MobileMe TO MacBook pro - effectively overwriting my iCal with the same data I just uploaded into MobileMe.
The result? Everything started working again. I added meetings to my calendar with my iPhone and they showed up on my iCal Desktop (MacBook). Yeah!
