MobileMe sign on

I have read through tons of posts and have not found one that has helped me with my issue. I have a full subscription to MobileMe. I was on a support chat after downloading the Gallery app and wasn't able to sign on. I was told that my subscription was cancelled and to register the key again and create a new account. This took hours as the registration page would time out before it would load the confirmation page. In finally received the MobileMe welcome email. Now when I go to me.com it has the welcome page with the install info. How do I get to my MobileMe account to use gallery and syncing?

Not quite true. You cannot log in to the site using Safari, true, but with other browsers here on the iPad, you can. For that matter, you can log on to MM using GoodReader.
Various parts of the site and variable selections of the site's functions will work and can be used, depending on what you use to access it. AFAIK you can't get full functionality there no matter what you use.

How do I change my MobileMe sign in page to iCloud sign in on my iPad

You access your iCloud data through the apps on your iPad, such as contacts, calendars, your photo stream album in Photos, your iWork documents in the iWork apps, etc.  You can also access some of your synced data by going to icloud.com on your computer.  As posted, unlike MobileMe, there is no separate app like iDisk that allows access to your data in iCloud.

  • Why am I directed to a MobileMe sign-in page when I try to publish iWeb

I can not publish a site because I get caught up in an endless loop asking me to sign-in. It gives me three options: Sign in; No thanks and Learn More. Jumping through all the hoops makes no difference, I still can not publish. What am I doing wrong?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of your MMe account.
2 - log in with a bogus account name and password to clear the cache.
3 - log in with the correct account name and password.
4 - launch iWeb and try publishing again.

  • This apple ID cannot be used for MobileMe Sign in with a different Apple ID

When I try and use my Apple ID to setup the free find my account on MobileMe I get this error after I hit the OK on the pop that reads Terms of service have changed.
"This apple id cannot be used for MobileMe. Sign in with a differant Apple ID"
I can see the TOS page behind the pop up box my Apple ID is valid
    Any Suggestions
    Thanks

I'm having the same issue with my iPad. I also used to have MobileMe, but cancelled. I seem to have two Apple ID's with the same email address. One Apple ID is not an email, the other Apple ID is my email address. They have different passwords and I can manage both. My iTunes Store one is the one without the email address. I had to use the email address Apple ID for Game Room.
I am in Live Chat Support with Apple right now.

  • MobileMe Sign in Glitch @ Preferences

    Hi,
I have a rather odd glitch signing in at preferences MobileMe -
Yet I can sign in to iCloud - Keychain just fine.
    I'm guessing 10.6 8 is the issue.

There is no MobileMe: it closed over a year ago and consequently attempts to sign into it produce an error.
The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mountain Lion preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is non non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
I assume you migrated your account to iCloud, and consequently you can access emails, though if you haven't set up the Mail application with the correct settings as indicated here it is likely to stop working at any time. You cannot access usage information, sync calendars or contacts, nor purchase additional storage on Snow Leopard.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mountain Lion, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.
The requirements for Mountain Lion are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
    and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • MobileMe sign in problem

    Hi,
I signed up for a mobileMe trial today.
On my MacBook, everything works flawlessly, but on my Mini, that's not the case.
It first place System prefs did not offer the mobileMe update, so after installing it manually & taking the software update to mobileMe 1.1, i can't sign it, getting the "unknown validation error"
Many folks describe this error as the service being down, but i can sign in as often as i want on my MacBook, so that can't be the case.
    Any clues ?
    Cheers,
    Bob

Ok so the fix I found was to quit Mail then remove the *Mail folder* (user folder - library - Mail) then relaunch Mail and setup the account from scratch. Doing so resulted in it completing the process as expected and with no issues once setup. If you have saved messages in the old folder that you want to keep, you can always import the messages back into the new folder Mail will create. if not, simply trash the original folder. Apparently the issue lies with corrupted files in this folder.

  • Trying to create mobileme account

im trying to create a mobileme account using my apple ID the one i use with itunes to buy apps music etc etc but every time i try to create a new mobileme account on my iphone under settings > mail > add acount > mobileme then it asks me to enter my apple and password I press next shows verifying then it show " CANNOT SIGN IN this apple id cannot be used for mobileme. sign in with a different apple id???

I'm having the same problem. Trying to Add in my IPhone 4, a MobileMe account on settings with my Apple ID. It spend a litte time verifying, then apears this message: Cannot Get Mail. The user name or password for "mail.me.com" is incorrect.

  • Cannot move my wifes Apple ID from MobileMe to iCloud

    Hi
    Can anyone please help me?
I have moved my AppleID to iCloud successfully, but my wifes email address and AppleID was a secondary address on my family MobileMe account. When I try and sign in to the iCloud as her, a pop up box says "To sign in, move this MobileMe account to iCloud"
When I click "Get Started", it take me to the MobileMe sign on screen. When I try to sign on with her ID, it says in another pop up box "Yoyr MobileMe subscription has ended and can't be renewed. This Apple ID can still be used for other services."
What have I done wrong? All I want to do is register my wifes Apple ID on iCloud so she can use it with her iPhone and iPad, continue to get email and keep our calendars synced together.
Many thanks for help and advice on this one. I'm tearing my hair out!!!

I am concerned about the same thing.
"Secondary" email acct (paid) is the wife's.
I can apparently move MMe to iCloud from either device, but I don't know if I should try again from the new iPad, or from the SnowLeopard machine to keep the additional emails flowing.

  • Can I DELETE an iCloud account associated with my AppleID?

I have two AppleIDs - one that my wife and I share for purchases (apple ID is a gmail address) and one that I now use for all iCloud activities (@me.com).  I accidentally created an iCloud account while signed in using our shared AppleID and now want to delete that iCloud account to free up the @me.com address to use as an alias on my own @me.com AppleID.  Is it possible to delete iCloud accounts?  Any way to free up that email address I accidentally created under the wrong ID for use on the other account?

I'm in the same situation.  I went from MobileMe to iCloud, and when I tried to use my MobileMe sign in, I got the messge that the username and email address was already in use.  I created another one, and had two.  I called Apple Support, and they told me that I had to keep both accounts.  I had yet ANOTHER account for my iTunes, and Support told me that it was ok, if not good, to have separate logins for iTunes and iCloud. Currently, I have THREE iCloud accounts.  If I have my iCloud settings on my phone set to "Mail - ON" my calendars sync up, but I can't receive email from my email account that I use for business.  When I turn Mail off, I can receive emails, but my calendars are empty on the iPhone.  The calendars on my Mac are there, but everything is duplicated at least once.  Quite a mess on both the phone and Mac.  Not a happy camper with iCloud...

  • Won't publish my changes....

I use iWeb 09, published my site using MobileMe. It worked perfect. BUT now when I have made changes it won't publish my changes and the icons stays red. I tried Publish site, Publish site changes, Publish entire site. I successfully published my website to a folder on my HD. I updated Iweb, signed out of MobileMe, signed in tried again, over and over and over.... nothing works
    Need help!
    Thanks

Update: It's working now, for the time being. It's my experience that it's been working on and off for this past weekend up to now. I don't know if anyone else was experiencing problems in that time frame.
I spent that last weekend doing some significant changes to the site, adding a new logo, background and that coverflow animation you see on all the root pages. The site is comprised of 11 pages and 5 blogs, with many entires in each of those 5 blogs. I affected changes to each page, including all the blog entries, and then tried to publish yesterday morning. I think that's when the trouble really started, because I was publishing a high volume of pages at once – MobileMe doesn't seem to like that. This is when I started trying to move the pages to a new site within iWeb, which eventually crashed the program and caused all my early entries in all 5 blogs to get corrupted (that's what I'm calling it at least, because if I clicked on those entries I just got a blank white screen, and if I tried to publish before deleting them I got the "An Unknown Error Occurred" message each time).
What I'm interested in is your suggestion to use Cyber Duck. I've ran into this suggestion before on these forums and so, yesterday, I downloaded Cyber Duck, but am totally clueless on how to use it. I know nothing about FTP but would like to know if A.) will the site load faster going through an FTP service like Cyber Duck or (the other one I hear about a lot) Web Maestro; and B.) If it will make the site load faster, how complicated is the change over and could someone walk a FTP illiterate person like me through the process. I update the site daily and so I can't complicate the process of publishing too much. I hear Web Maestro has selective publishing, maybe that's the way to go?
Also, I've disabled comments on my site anyway, so no fear of that.
Sorry this ran a little long.
    -Sam

  • No more than 6 entries will show on my site.

I had a year long blog with an older version of iWeb, but this version is not displaying anymore than 6 entries at a time in Safari.
I tried duplicating the entry and deleting the old #7, but it cuts off the bottom entry on the list leaving only six entries showing. Help!
I started this site as a homeowners discussion group and now I'm limited to topics we can argue over;-)

I went to the directions you gave me.
By default, there is no limit listed. I was not able to change to any number (it is grayed out).
II did go to the MobileMe chat and had the following session. (It didn't solve the problem).
    Thanks for the reply!

info: Hi, my name is Jake S. Welcome to Apple!
    Jake S: Hi Paul
Paul Yeiter: Hi Jake, did you get my problem?
Jake S: I show you are unable to publish more than 6 pages now with iWeb correct?
Paul Yeiter: Yes, 6 blog entries.
Jake S: 6 blog entries...I see....I'll pull the account up quickly and see what we can find out Paul
    Paul Yeiter: thanks
Jake S: I'm sorry for the delay. I'll be right with you.
    Paul Yeiter: OK
Jake S: When was the last time that you were able to publish correctly Paul?
Paul Yeiter: I'm not sure when it dropped off the last entry. Maybe a moth ago.
Paul Yeiter: I've used earlier versions of iweb to journal for a year with no problems.
Paul Yeiter: Can you see old enties?
Jake S: Are you currently on iWeb 09 or 08?
    Paul Yeiter: 08
Jake S: Unable to see any previous entries...only the 6
Paul Yeiter: there should be a Miscellaneous one as well
Jake S: In archives I see that too yes
Paul Yeiter: Before today, I combined Kudos with Misc. to keep it @ 6 show things would show
Jake S: I'll see how we can get this corrected Paul
    Paul Yeiter: OK
Jake S: If you publish to a folder will it show any updated information?
Paul Yeiter: I haven't tried that.
Jake S: I'll also setup a test account for you to publish to so we can see how it reacts there as well
Jake S: If it publishes the same way to a test account there would be something within iWeb that would need to be addressed with the iApps team but if it shows new information, we should be able to republish that to the main pyeiter account and have it come up normally too
Paul Yeiter: what would you like me to do?
Jake S: Quit iWeb, sign out of mobileme in system preferences and then sign in again with this username and password please
    Jake S: username mmtesting________
    Jake S: password apple______
Jake S: then open iWeb again and Publish All To Mobileme
    Paul Yeiter: OK
Jake S: let me know once it completes and we'll check it out
Paul Yeiter: It's publishing, but could take a while
    Jake S: Any approximate estimate?
Paul Yeiter: No, just working in the background.
Jake S: just from prior publishing that is...a guesstimate from you?
    Paul Yeiter: 4 minutes?
Jake S: No worries then....I'll stand by
    Paul Yeiter: Jake,
    Paul Yeiter: While we're waiting.
    Jake S: sure?
Paul Yeiter: Is it possible to recover an iweb blog I kept 2.5 years ago? When I upgraded computers, I lost it. It was an account of my wife's fight with cancer. I was hoping to keep it as a record or publish it in an iBook.
Jake S: As far as I know, if its in the domain file from the page it should be recoverable....that may be a question better suited for the iApps team with Apple Care....they support iWeb to a much fuller capacity than we do here in chat.....
Jake S: We can help with any publishing type issues but as far *** restoring any previous versions, they would be better to ask...sorry I dont have a better answer for you there Paul
Jake S: as far AS restoring....sorry bout that too
Jake S: spell check wont catch everything
Jake S: If we run into the same blog issues with the test me account that you see in the main pyeiter account, I'll recommend you speak with them as well to see if they can help figure out why iWeb wont publish more than 6 entries
Paul Yeiter: "if its in the domain file from the page it should be recoverable" What does that mean?
Jake S: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273) and there is the number just for future use Paul
Jake S: the single domain file encapsulates all the iweb sites and pages that you currently publish
Jake S: If the other blog kept from 2 years ago is still in a domain file somewhere, it should be recoverable
Jake S: so by changing versions or upgrading operating systems, it may or may not be able to be recovered....Im not certain...thats why I would recommend speaking with iApps about that one
Paul Yeiter: Do I need an AppleCare account to access the above number?
Jake S: The support is with apple care warranty coverage yes...but they will also bill per incident if no warranty is current
Jake S: I think Mobileme is the only support included with the annual service price and needs no apple care warranty
Paul Yeiter: I just got an iWeb notice of a "Publish Error
Jake S: Looks like the page is done....what is the error?
Paul Yeiter: An error occured while publishing file"/web/.Temporary Web Resources/88BF123E-3025-4620-A343-153E12737CB9
Paul Yeiter: Try publishing again later
Jake S: It looks like a keychain error....not critical...it published the page....it can be rectified by resetting the router or even repairing permissions to the mac startup disk
Jake S: but what does stand out is the same 6 entries....now on the page have you limited it to 6? If not how many more entries should be shown?
Paul Yeiter: There are 7 entries in iWeb (at this time)
Jake S: the difference I see off hand is the comments on the Annual Meetings are not present in the test mobileme account
Jake S: So from here, this is what I recommend Paul....go ahead and quit iWeb again
Jake S: then in system preferences>mobileme sign in as pyeiter again
Jake S: then open Finder and go into Applications>Utilities and open Disk Utility
Jake S: Click on the mac hd on the left side, run the repair permissions option and once its done reboot the mac....
Jake S: After rebooting, go into iWeb and select the Publish All to Mobileme option again and see if the 7th entry shows up as well as making sure there is no publishing error
Jake S: Im not sure if the problem lies in the page, the application or the keychain but since the error only presented itself in a test account, I would say the keychain would be fine
Jake S: something else that I would recommend, while we are still in chat, is to publish to a folder as well and see if the new entry shows....
Jake S: that can help isolate where the breakdown is as well...shouldnt take as long to publish to a folder as it does to the account
Paul Yeiter: I guess this is goodbye. If it doesn't work... should I call the Apple Care #?
Jake S: Yes...another thing that comes to mind would be to sort of flush out iweb....create a simple test page, move it to the first site on the left side and publish...once its shown correctly, delete it and with the main site in the first site position, publish again
Jake S: so there are a few options to go with but ultimately if none of the blog entries are updating, apple care would be the next point of contact
Paul Yeiter: "move it to the first site on the left" ?
Jake S: correct...on the left where you see Site and then pages under it....if you create a new site it would be 2nd on the list....just drag it above the main site so it is in the first position
Paul Yeiter: OK. Thanks for your time and expertise!
Jake S: I sure hope it helps Paul

I think this means that you need correct the MobileMe sign-in information in iCal. In is in iCal preferences –– no, it doesn't seem to pull this information from your normal MobileMe settings.

  • My website won't publish?????

I have a Macbook and joined Iweb a few months ago. I have made a website, but when I push the Publish button (or go through the menu), it says "Connecting to .Mac" for a long long time and then....nothing. No error message but the site remains red. I have browsed the topics and tried a few things, but none seem to work. Can anyone help?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Go the Apple Menu > System Preferences > MobileMe > Sign Out.
_Sign in with a bogus name and password to cause a login failure.
    _Close System Preferences
Go to Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access.
_Look in the keychain for your MobileMe member name with a blue cloud next to it. Delete it.
_Go to Keychain Access menu > Keychain First Aid > Repair
    _Quit Keychain Access
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
Home > Library > Caches (I remove the whole folder. It will be re-generated upon restart.)
    Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iWeb
Once the computer is restarted Go to the Apple Menu > System Preferences > MobileMe > Sign In.
Now launch iWeb and try publishing again. If you get the prompt about using your confidential information in the keychain choose "Always allow".
    Hope that helps.

  • ICloud email changes

I have an iCloud account that was migrated from MobileMe while on the developer beta last summer. I would like a new iCloud address for login (NOT an alias) but if I make a new account I lose access to the MobileMe features I still currently have access to. (Such as iWeb, iDisk and Gallery)
Can I either change the address or transfer the entire account to another account under a new address, effectively doing the same thing?

No you won't. Just sign out of iCloud, and create a new Apple ID and use that to sign in to a new iCloud account. Your MobileMe sign in and access to your iDisk will be completely unaffected (at least until MobileMe terminates at the end of June).

  • Fix for anyone unable to use screen sharing

    Hi guys
Not so much a question as a fix for anyone who has been unable to use screen sharing since yesterday.
Apple have started to turn off parts of MobileMe however one of the issues is if you still have MobileMe signed in on your Snow Leopard install Screen Sharing will stop working to any computer.
To get things working again go into System Preferences -> MobileMe -> Sign Out.
    It should now be fixed.
    Hope this helps someone out.

@Jay Gamel specifically, but to anyone who is having problems with Screen Sharing and thinks that since they don't use MobileMe that it must be something else ..
I have never used MobileMe, not even the free trial.
When I saw this post, I looked at the Mobile Me pref pane and since I had never logged in, there was no way to sign out, so I kept looking elsewhere.
Hours later, I read this email again and saw how timely it was, so I went back and looked again.
Even though I had never signed in, my AppleID was pre-populated in the Member Name field.
As soon as I cleared out this field, Screen Sharing started working again.
So, not only should you make sure you are signed out, but you should wipe out any information in either the Member Name or Password field.
I also noticed that, even after I solved it, as I continued to look at the issue, at some point the Member Name re-populated and sharing stopped working until I cleared it out again.
