MobileMe syncing disabled on my iMac

I have an iMac running OS10.5.8, an iPhone 3GS running OS4.0.2. I also have Outlook at work on a PC. Using MobileMe, I used to be able to sync my calendars & contacts between Outlook, my iPhone and iCal. Although the calendars sync between Outlook and my iPhone, so I know MobileMe works, the MobileMe sync is disabled on my iMac! When I plug my phone into iTunes I get a message saying that "syncing is disabled on this computer". It allows me to override for syncing podcasts, etc., but not for regular ongoing MobileMe syncing of calendars. In System Preferences->MobileMe-->Sync is grayed out.

Has your mobile me account expired and have not been auto renewed?

  • Is it possible to disable MobileMe sync to get ical sync to work?

iPhone to iCal sync worked fine before MobileMe enabled. Is it possible to disable the MobileMe sync until this issue gets resolved? Can't seem to revert the settings now that it is set up. Calendar notes don't copy, events get dropped. MobileMe is not fit for purpose at present.

  • Keychain sync issues between new iMac and older 10.4.11 machine

I am having a tough time since purchasing a new imac - I can get mobileme working reasonably well with few issues if I have keychain syncing disabled on both machines but I would like to get to the bottom of this and be able to sync it automatically.
Here is a description of the issues I am getting in spite of performing the regular advice to set up a new account once the issue starts and move all my stuff into that new account.
After a few syncs I get the advice "please enter the password for "(myname), Aos Powerbook G4 17""
Now the A has a double dot (umlaut ?) above it and the o has a ^ above it - not sure how to get that with this keyboard or I would have done it ...
This box is empty below this dialogue (expecting a passcode) and whatever password you enter (I have tried all of mine repeatedly over several weeks now !) it just doesn't accept it. It is as if someone else in a parallel universe has your mac and has entered a new passcode !
Occasionally I will get 'the keychain on '^&G*)(" has been altered do you wish to merge' (not exact text but something like) and I am no longer able to send emails without entering my email account password first and every so often.
There are other weird symptoms too - but does this trigger anyones grey matter ?
IS there an issue between 105 and 104 syncing ?
    Thanks
    Andy

I should also point out that I have an iphone and this poor puppy has tons of apps and data associated with the apps on it......
Anyone have a clue as to how I back this up with the new pbook user account I have created to sidestep the keychain issue ?
The only option it shows erases the iphone's applications and their assoc data from what I can see ....
    Thanks
    Andy

  • MobileMe sync suddenly failing

MobileMe synced between all of my devices (iPhone, Macbook Pro, iMac and iPad) perfectly fine until yesterday, when my iPad decided to give up.
First of all it was the Safari Bookmarks that no longer updated. I tried the tricks on here of disabling/deleting the account then enabling it again, no luck.
I completely removed my MobileMe account from my iPad and then entered my details in again. Now absolutely nothing would sync 'over the air'. Even after a lengthy wait.
I then tried a restore from backup. Again, no luck.
Finally I did a fresh restore of my iPad software. I managed to get Bookmarks and Calendar working okay, but now I have to sync Address Book manually.
It's all very strange and happened after things have been working fine for months. I'm up to date on all the software and haven't installed any new Apps over the last few days.
Probably not much anyone can do now, just checking in to see if anyone else had experienced something similar over the last few days?

The short answer is yes, people are having problems today with MobileMe. I was just told by an Apple support guy that the system has been problematic all day. But of course, they don't tell anybody that on the MobileMe website.
I just spent a torturous 10 hours+ trying to set up and enable MobileMe on my ipad and iphone. It was a total, unmitigated disaster despite valiant efforts by the tech (and several hours on the phone) to help me.
(Incidentally, there's no support phone number for MobileMe and even the other Apple techs can't call them. The MobileMe "chat line" wasn't even allowing me to "link" with it, whatever that means.)
Nothing we tried worked. At one point MM completely wiped all my contacts off my iPad. At the same time, it duplicated every single contact in my MM web account. So -- NO contacts on my iPad, DOUBLE contacts at me.com.
Later, it wiped out my iCal from my iPad. Completely gone; it was totally blank. I had to reload it from my Mac (after DELETING the mobileme account).
Now, I'm still getting horrible, horrible "ghost" effects even though I have mobileme turned completely off. I just re-synced my iPhone with iTunes and it duplicated every single calendar entry. Every. Single. One.
    I'm ready to kill myself.
Apple should be ashamed to be selling such a wonky product. And to not offer phone support -- shame on you, MobileMe -- whoever, and wherever, you are.

  • Missing calendars on one of my MobileMe Synced computers.

I'm using MobileMe Sync to sync calendar data between Work & home iMac, Laptop and iPhone. All of my calendars that I am syncing show up except on my laptop. 3 of 5 calendars show-up and are syncing. 2 are missing from the laptop.
I have reset the sync data, unregistered and registered the laptop, replaced data on the laptop with MobileMe, still the calendars do not show up.
I'm running 10.5.7 on all the computers. Any suggestions?

This has just started to happen to me as well.
On my iMac, Macbook Pro and iPod Touch I have just noticed that I have complete calendars missing. However when I check on the mobile me web account, the missing calendars are still showing there but I can not get them to resync.
A completely missing calendar is easy to spot, and not good at all. I'm also really worried that I have individual calendar entries missing as well which will be impossible to notice
Anyone any idea's what's going on or how to restore these calendars.

  • Does MobileMe sync e-mail messages or only the account settings between computers?

Does MobileMe actually sync e-mail messages between computers or only the account settings?

Here's a scenario:  We have an iPhone, an iMac, and a MacBook Plus that we want to sync with MobileMe. So let's say that we check our e-mail using the iMac tomorrow. We save some new messages and delete the rest. Does MobileMe then sync (i.e. save the same messages and delete the rest on the iPhone and the MacBook Plus)? Or do we need to go through the same process with the iPhone and the MacBook Plus as we did on the iMac?
Also, does MobileMe sync addresses, favorites, documents, etc.?
If you delete a message on the iMac it would also automatically delete that message on the iPhone and MacBook. If you send a message from the iPhone it would appear in the sent messages folder on the MacBook. If you receive a message on the MacBook and read it then it would appear as read on the iMac, etc.
Yes, MobileMe will sync your address book, Safari bookmarks and documents. However it's a little trickier with the documents as it involves localizing your iDisk. I'm personally not a huge fan of the tech that Apple uses for the iDisk (WebDAV) and I feel there are some better solutions out there but it will get the job done.
It's important to add that Apple offers a 60-day, no obligation, trial of MobileMe for you to try out and see if the features are worth it for $99/year.

  • ISync / MobileMe Sync added 18.000 blank contacts in Contacts app !

... and this keeps syncing with all my computers. This becomes a **** and I disabled the synchronization of course, but how can I solve this ? Where does this bug come from ? Anyone else with the same problem out here ? Many thanks for your help !

If you are syncing between computers, then it wasn't iSync.
iSync is only for syncing contacts and calendars to non-Apple mobile phones via a local USB or Bluetooth connection. It does not sync anything between computers.
The *MobileMe Sync* forums start here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=116
Incidentally, your signature say's you are running Mac OS X 10.3.x - the minimum requirements for MobileMe are Mac OS X 10.5.8

  • MobileMe syncing deleted information

I have an iMac, a MacBook, and an iPhone 3G, all sharing a MobileMe account, which I THOUGHT was the greatest thing since sliced bread until I noticed that my contacts all have duplicated information or OLD information which is no longer valid. For example, one of my friends recently moved. While I was having a conversation with him, I opened my contacts and plugged in his new address and phone numbers, making sure to delete the old ones. That was week ago. I just went to call him and discovered that he now has 2 different home numbers (old and new), 2 cell phone numbers (old and new), and 2 different addresses. I can't remember which numbers are the new ones, and I find this quite annoying since I've also learned that this happened with OTHER contacts. It seems I've been sending text messages to old numbers because they're the ones that come up first (which would explain why people are not getting back to me). So, basically, MobileMe is not syncing deleted items, which defeats the purpose of syncing altogether. I'm more likely to edit info on the phone; I never use my address book on my computers unless it's for special occasions. Am I missing something here, or I should I just get rid of the account?

Same problem here - the MobileMe sync never completes. I've checked syncing from my iPhone back to the Me.com web site, and that is fine. So the problem seems to be between my newly-upgraded 10.6 Mac and the MobileMe "cloud."
Best I can tell, the hangup is with calendar sync. Here's what the Console log tells me:
8/29/09 9:20:30 AM com.apple.syncservices.SyncServer[2162] 2009-08-29 09:20:30.085 iCalExternalSync[2183:903] [ICalExternalSync ]The sync server failed to let client iCal pull changes
    And the mobilemesync.log says this:
2009-08-29 09:25:20:858|35a2b00|Error|Sync cancelled for dataclass com.apple.Calendars while merging changes in Sync Engine: Session <ISyncConcreteSession: 0x10274b8f0> cancelled. lost connection to SyncServer
Could it just be traffic? That seems unlikely.
I've already tried to "Reset Sync Data" under "Advanced" in the MobileMe Sync preferences - I told the sync to replace everything on my computer with info from MobileMe. That didn't fix the problem.
My last successful sync was right before my upgrade from 10.5.8!
    Ideas?

  • Syncing ical on two iMac

    Hello,
I have two iMac 24 connected via ethernet.
I want to sync the iCals on the two computers.
    How can I do it?
    TIA

riklar, I'd recommend doing it easily through a *MobileMe membership* (from Apple). If you are a MobileMe member, just go to System Preferences > MobileMe > Sync ... and then put a check-mark beside those items (in your case, Calendars) you want to sync to another Mac, your iPhone or iPod touch, or just backup to MobileMe.
If you are not now a MobileMe member (yes, it costs per year, but IMHO is more than worth it), just go here and sign-up for a *FREE 60-day trial* --- then test all the benefits (and there are tons), including a solution to what you want to do. Hope this helps:

    No.
One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
Create separate computer logins for each of you.
This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library).

You need OSX 10.7.2 or higher in order to access icloud.  The mobile me account is now defunct (it closed down more than a year ago).

  • I cannot sync Ical on my iMac with my professional calendar (outlook web access). and I don't understand why it doesn't work since I have already made it with my iPhone. Help

    Hello,
I bought an iMac few days ago. I would like to sync ical on my iMac with my professional calendar I use in my company (from outlook web access).
I was easy to manage it on my iPhone (I just add a new "exchange" mail account and ask for a calendar sync only) and it worked very quickly.
But I cannot do it with the iMac, and I don't undersatnd why?
the domain is is used for my iPhone is the following :
    owa.companyname.com
I tried all the solutions I found in this forum but it doesn't work.
Many thanks in advancefor your help.

Does it have to be an applet?
If you want the same behaviour as in the code with traffic lights, change
    class MortgageApplet extends JApplet implements ActionListener {
    to
    class MortgageApplet extends JFrame implements ActionListener {
    and change
    public void init() {
    to
    public MortgageApplet() {

  • Can I get rid of the MobileMe sync icon in Mountain Lion?

I recently set up a new MacBook Pro by using setup assistant to restore from a Time Machine backup of an old Snow Leopard machine. In general it's worked fine, but I still seem to have the old MobileMe sync icon in the menu bar, and as far as I can work out it's now totally functionless. MobileMe no longer exists, and there's no longer any MobileMe preferences screen to turn it off. Clicking on it just shows a message saying 'no devices syncing'. Does it serve any useful purpose in Mountain Lion, and if not, how can I get rid of it?

    James Clayton wrote:
That works! Thanks. Does it serve any useful purpose in Mountain Lion that I'm missing, or is it just a stub that somehow didn't get removed?
    Does nothing at all now.
