MobileMe to iCloud- many users, many devices

Help!
We're a family of four that has been working nicely with two Apple IDs for iTunes purchases, and a shared MobileMe account for sharing our contact list and multiple calendars.  We're now trying to figure out how to transition our configuration into the iCloud environment.
Current setup -
Me - Mac user (10.6.8), iPhone 4 now running iOS5.  My own Apple ID for iTunes purchases.  I'll likely go to 10.7.2, for iCloud purposes.
Wife - PC user (WIN7), iPhone 4 now running iOS5.  Likely will be getting an iPad2 soon.  She has her own Apple ID for iTunes purchases
Older son - iPhone 3Gs, iPad2.  Both will be updated to iOS 5 in the near future.  He uses my wife's Apple account for iTunes purchases.
Younger son - 1st generation iPod touch.  Not sure if this can support iOS 5 or not (if so, we'll upgrade).   He uses my wife's Apple account for iTunes purchases.
We ALL use a single MobileMe account, to share contacts and multiple calendars.  We love this configuration.  Calendar updates can be done at work via mobileme.com, or any of our iOS devices.  Contacts list is fairly static, but the beauty again is that a change in one place is a change everywhere.  My iCal and Address Book apps on my Mac get their data from MobileMe.  My wife has configured her Outlook similarly.  The other beauty of us all using the same MobileMe account is that all five devices show up under the "find my iPhone" app.
Now, the writing is on the wall for MobileMe, with it officially ending next June.  We're trying to determine the cleanest / easiest / simplest solution via iCloud, since that is the new paradigm.  It appears to involve creating new iCloud accounts for each user.  My kids don't have email addresses yet, so if we make accounts for them we'll have to use our email address.  Can multiple iCloud accounts point to the same email address?  Can iClould accounts be modified later, to adjust for different email addresses (if that changes)?
I see that in iCloud, calendars can be shared with other persons but it appears to be based on email addresses, not iCloud accounts.  I don't know how the sharing is (ease of use) compared to the current model of us all using one MobileMe account.
What would the "find my iPhone" configuration look like, if we all potentially use different iCloud accounts?
Also, as my wife starts to set up iCloud, should she use the @me address (the one we share in MobileMe), or her @isp.net account (the one she uses for iTunes purchases).
Can Cupertino or anyone out there in the Apple base help us figure this out?

iCloud just isn't the same 'flat' offering as in the old MobileMe.  Once the kids get their own PC or MAC, they are going to want to sync their iOS device(s) with their own PC/MAC (not Dad's).  Now is the time to setup the household for the coming few years...
Setup each family member with their own iClound address.  That address will be their own to use across whatever laptops/PC's/iPhones/iPod touches/iPads they now have or will in the future;
You can, if you want, continue to share the same iTunes store account as this doesn't have to be the same as YOUR iCloud account. In other words, you can use different iTunes store and iCloud accounts throughtout the family;
Calendar sharing is easy and won't require you to be on the same iClound account;
The Find My iPhone function can still work across the family's different iCloud accounts by using the new "Find my Friends" app.  It's a good enough work-around that offers similar functionallity to any authorized device regardless of iCloud account;
I hope this covered all your concerns.

  • How many users or devices does an old 802.11g airport express support?

I've got three old 802.11g airport expresses that make up my home network.  One is my base station hooked to my cable modem.  the second I used as accss point for my satellite tv box.  The third is hooked up to my stereo.  I have an ipad, macbook, PC and a doogle plugged into my flat panel tv.  I usually don't have my mac and PC on at the same time but I have lately and I lose the network connection on both machines.  I can't reconnect on either machine.  My base station goes yellow so I unplug it a few minutes and plug it back in.  Then everything is find if I only have one machine.  I assume my trouble comes from trying to put too many devices on the network, right?  If I buy a new airport extreme, will it work with my old airport expresses?  Or what's the solution to my network problem?  Thanks.

Hi - first of all is the base station solid yellow or blinking yellow - if it is solid then there is an electrical problem - if it is blinking then there should be an error message in the Airport Utility  - each Express can handle 10 wireless clients - the base station can administer 199 internal IP addresses so I don't that the number of users is an issue - it sounds like a connection conflict - however to address you second question, you are using old technology with new technology now - so to use a new Extreme with old Expresses would be defeating your purpose - in my opinion instead you should get 3 new Expresses - $99x3 and you would be getting a fast new system  - or $180 for a new Extreme and still have a slow system - but if you want 3 gigabit ports and the ability to connect a hard drive in a base station then an Extreme and 2 Expresses is the ideal solution - and I fully understand the economics involved so the choice is yours - if I have caused you to have more questions, please ask.

  • Can I use iCloud to since many users to one account for my business and have me as a administrator to oversee and change peoples calendars?

Can I use iCloud to since many users to one account for my business and have me as a administrator to oversee and change my employees calendars and contacts??

Go to System Preferences and click Sign Out, select Delete at all the prompts, then sign back in with the changed ID?   (Your iCloud data will disappear from your Mac when you sign out and choose Delete, but will still be in iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account your data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in.)

  • HT201317 I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

The new ios version of iPhoto allows sharing.  Here's a blurb from Apple's web site:
There’s the old way of creating photo galleries, then there’s the iPhoto way. Select a group of photos and iPhoto automatically flows them into a beautiful journal that’s fun to personalize and share online. Touch a photo to make it bigger or smaller. Or drag it to a different spot on the screen. iPhoto adjusts the page around whatever you’re doing, so your journal always looks great. You can even add captions, maps, dates, and weather — giving family and friends the big picture at a glance.
    More things you can do:
With iPhoto, there’s more than one way to share a photo. Post pictures directly to Facebook, Flickr, or Twitter. Play an impromptu slideshow on your iPad or iPhone. Or stream photos to your HDTV to give your big moments room to shine.
I have not used ios version of iPhoto to share "journals" and I'm not sure this is part of iCloud or not.  You'll have to do a google search on "ios iphoto" and read up of this journal thing.  As far as I know, this is the only way of sharing photos.  I'm not sure whether other friends use a browser to view these journals or whether they need something special.  Any way - search around to find answers.

  • How many users can you have on one account ?

    Hi,
I have just created a ID with Adobe Reader for a group to use files stored in cloud. I would like to know how many users can access the account at one time via, mobile devices, ipad, desktops ?

I don't know if there is a limit; you do mean the free https://cloud.acrobat.com/ ?
I will move your post to the Acrobat.com forum, where someone hopefully can give you a definitive answer.

  • How far will the extreme reach and how many users can be on there at the same time?

How far will the airport extreme reach and how many users can be on there at the same time?

Last question first, since that is the easy one......approximately 50 (fifty) users for wireless depending on how active each user might be.
The first question is much more difficult, as distance is not really the issue with wireless.....obstructions are the issue.
A wireless signal can easily travel 300 feet or more with no obstructions in the signal path.
But, a typical wall of sheetrock or wallboard in a home will absorb....on average....15-20% of the wireless signal. Brick or adobe will obviously absorb much more. A ceiling....because it is thicker....will absorb about 25-35% of the signal.
So, if the wireless signal must pass through several walls and a ceiling, there won't be much, if any, of the signal left....even though the distance that the signal travels is not great...for example, 20-25 feet.
Other wireless networks around you at the neighbors can also affect the relative strength of the wireless signal.
The bottom line....locate the AirPort Extreme where wireless devices will receive a signal with the least amount of obstructions in the signal path. Your actual performance cannot be predicted in advance. You will not know how well the AirPort Extreme works for you until you try it out in your home.
If you find that the signal does not reach as far as needed,  you will need to add additional "extenders", like an AirPort Express to provide more signal coverage.

  • I seem to have 2 Apple IDs, one on my MacBook Pro and another on my devices.  If I switch from MobileMe to iCloud on my Mac (under the apple logo) will my devices work and sync in iCloud.  I have no idea how I go 2 IDs

Can I get rid of one  ID?  How do I do that?

    one on my MacBook Pro
That's not an Apple ID. That is your admin account which you can view in System Preferencs > Accounts or Users & Groups.
If I switch from MobileMe to iCloud on my Mac (under the apple logo) will my devices work and sync in iCloud.  I have no idea how I go 2 IDs
Just use your current Apple ID when you setup your iCloud account that you use for your devices.

  • Help on -  IBOT report to be generated once and then sent to many users.

    Hello All,
I need some advice to make Ibot efficient. The Ibot at my institution is configured to send a specified report to many users and group. The problem now is the report is generated for every user and then sent to individual user, which takes a lot of time and limits the usage of the resources to other.
Is it possibel that a report which has to be mailed to many users can be generated once and then sent to all the recipients?
Thanking you for time and efforts!

    OK...
. Do you have the complete application suie of the Audigy SE installed?
    2. If so, in Control Panel do you have the Audio Console or Audio Control Panel?
    3. If you do, change the settings for Decoder Settings to SPDIF passthrough. (THis is however only of AC-3 content, it doesn't affect other formats) (I am not sure the Audigy SE does have a decoder, if not, you need to change the setting in the AC-3 decoder you use)
    4. Then go to Device settings and change the Digital Output sampling rate to 48kHz.
Now if you cannot find Audio Console, then you should download the latest drivers. They specifically state they allow you to change the "SPDIF output Sampling rate", so you should be able to access the option. I believe your problem lies to the fact your SPDIF is configured for 96kHz output and most probably these very old speakers do not support more than 48kHz.
PS: The instruction I posted above, are based on an Audigy 2 ZS setup, so the naming of the settings and access programs could be different on the SE, but nevertheless present.

  • How to create many user in the same database

    hi
my question is "How to create many user in the same database(application)?"
for example, i have students, teachers, and staffs user using my application.
i can create many users to use the same application right?, how ^^''' ???
(right now i can only create application and then it shows every data in my DB
but i want it to show only the data for the user who login to that application)
    Thanks.
ps. i'm newbie, please help T^T

You need to create a user table within your application that maintains their privileges. If you have LDAP you could use this for authorisation otherwise the table would handle that as well (store passwords etc). Your reports etc would then be filtered on information from this table.
Check out some of the sample applications to see how authorisation and access is implemented (Online store is one). The how-to on the issue tracking system should also have some useful pointers.

  • How to know how many users uses Report Designer?

    Dear Experts,
Somebody knows if it's possible to know how many users have made look ups in Report Designer on one period or how many modifications?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If the cube is checked for Statistics, there is a option settings for BI Statistics under tools, then all the user related info is stored in Techincal Content Cubes. Based on TCT(technical Content Cubes), you need to create a report based on the requirement. From then we can know user log info for the particular queries.
    Hope this helped you

  • How many users can 1 Xserve support?

I have one Xserve (10.5.2, 2x3GHz, 5GB RAM, 1.34TB RAID 5) that I want to support the following services for my SMB:
    DNS, DHCP
    AFP, NFS, SMB
    Open Directory
    Print
    Software Update
I also want to have mobile sync'd network home folders, but only for ~/Documents and iCals and Address Books (I don't want everyone's MP3s or family photos).
I occasionally will use NetBoot/NetInstall, but only 1-2 users at once.
I am getting ready to migrate my company to OpenDirectory and 10.5.2 for all users and was hoping someone here might be able to tell me how many users I can reasonably support with one Xserve.
Also, is it a bad idea to have everyone using "mobile" accounts? It seems like it would be less strain on the server to have the occasional sync from users than everyone reading & writing all the time. Also, if anything happened, there would be a local copy and a remote copy of any files.
    Thanks.

    Rosemarie,
BeehiveOnline currently supports 95,000 users and we have groups on the system as large as 10,000, that is probably about as big as we want to go - remember collaborating with 10,000 users is not an effective way of working - maybe a more open way of delivering content may be more appropriate. Given that the only issues we have with very large groups is the time it takes to run and the email traffic it generates as the large group are processed.
So it is possible to host 10,000 in a group but we need to be warned in advance and work with you to minimise the impact as the group is set up.

  • How many Users online at any one time?

Is there any better (/more accurate) way of determining how many users are using Planning at any one time then "Administration >Application>Statistics"?
I've been using the Statistics up until now but it's hardly fit for purpose. The timings look dubious and the same users can be there 20+ times in the same list.
It's not a deal breaker, but would be nice to see if anyone else had any hints on this.
    Regards
    Ed

Even after a reset the numbers look very weird. Apparently it's been 6 weeks since I last accessed Planning... I should be fired!
Slightly off topic: My Supporting Detail Detection Cache Usage is at 100%, am I right in thinking I should DECREASE the cache size in the Application Properties as per the Documentation (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/hp_admin.pdf - P83)?
    Sounds wrong to me.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • How many users are there of Logic?

does anyone know where I can find out how many users there are globally of Logic Pro. I'm doing an assignment on this and I can find sales figures for DAW software anywhere....

You can or can't find sales figures?
It is also rumoured that there are many non legitimate users out there too. Please note however, I am not one of those.
Anyway, what is the assignment for? ie What's the gist, requirements and subject matter? Just interested.

  • How many users does HFM support?

    Hi,
how many users does HFM support(Maximum)? and why we are choose HFM compare to Hyperion enterprise?
    thanks
    Edited by: user10919054 on May 18, 2009 3:07 AM

There is no limit, as long as you pay for the licenses and make sure you have a robust system to support user connectivity and demand.
Hyperion Enterprise is the previous Consolidation tool most commonly used by many companies. Think of HFM as the "New Generation"....
