MobileMe website crippled/unusable on iphone!

i was fast getting disgusted enough with always being forcibly shunted off to crippled (and often entirely useless) versions of the websites i want to go to because they know i'm using a phone, but - aside from being completely unable to access my investment accounts from my phone because my broker's site forces me onto their "mobile" website and their "mobile" website has been DOWN since it was created - this last experience takes the cake: i can't log in to my MobileMe account from my iPhone because i'm using an iPhone.
going to mobileme.com takes me against my will to a faux-website that tells me, in slightly more diplomatic terms, that i have no business even coming to the website on my phone because i can manage mobileme's services from within the applications on my phone. while this may be true of the services, it is not true of the thing i actually want to manage: my account. when i click the only link on this crippled page, it takes me to the regular mobileme website, where i think, "ah! there's the login link!" and click the login link - whereupon i am taken straight back to the useless page i was on before. because i'm using a phone.
so to Apple's mind, the fact that i'm accessing the site from my phone means, definitively, that i do not want to manage my account. well, Apple, you're wrong.
you know what we need? we need a web standard to address this B.S.. we need a standard that says that users will always be taken to the full website first, regardless of their hardware/software configuration, whereupon they will be given clear and prominent links that will allow them, IF THEY CHOOSE, to
a) go to the mobile version of the website for the current visit, and
b) ELECT to be taken to the mobile version of the website by default in the future.
but this business of websites rendering their users unable to do what they want to do - without so much as consulting the users first - because they're using phones instead of some other kind of computer is a serious problem that must be done away with.

  • Mobileme website and iweb question

    how much longer will Apple host my mobileme website? Any suggestions for transitioning  to a new server? Will iWeb continue to work as my web update program?

    Why did you not consider doing a search of this forum first before posting a question like this?  Your totally unique question is asked and answered on a daily basis on this forum.
    If you had searched you would have found that MobileMe will be available until the end of June this year and if you are a registered MobileMe user, then you should have received e-mails regarding this and extending your subscription for free until the end of June.
    iWeb is an application and you can continue to use it to update and publish your website - it works in Snow Leopard, Lion and will work with Mountain Lion.
    Have a look at GoDaddy and HostExcellence for starters and do a search of this forum.

    If you buy an iLife '11 install DVD (eBay, Amazon) you could upgrade your iPhoto right away. The earlier iPhoto '11 versions are compatible with MacOS X 10.6.8.
    but I can't until I upgrade from OS X 10.6.8.  Trying to figure out how to do that...
    To upgrade to Mt. Lion see here:  You can buy it and download it from the appStore, if your mac is compatible:

  • BlackBerry World via pc website is unusable!

    When I log in with my ID, the website becomes unusable with drop downs once clicked, not being selectable (they disappear before selection is available) The formating of the page is entirely strange, Graphics and phone all listed down the left hand side and when scrolling down, eventually you come to the BlackBerry World Section. It does not matter which browser I utilise, as soon as i log in the site formats all over the place and becomes useless.

    I'm surprised you're having issues with BlackBerry World. When I try it from my PC (Windows 8 using Chrome), I have no problems at all and never have. I assume you're typing in the correct URL but just in case, give this one a click and let me know how you fare:

  • How can I check my MobileMe mail & contacts from another iPhone?

    How can I check in on my MobileMe email & contacts from another iPhone or iPad, not my own? When I go to Me.com, the only option it offers is to set up the iPhone with my account -- which is NOT what I want. Is there a workaround or another path to login that doesn't force the "setup"' page on me?

    What a dumb decision. It would seem sensible that a mobile visitor to me.com should be able to proceed to the "regular" website and check mail, etc., through the web interface. Obviously -- well, okay, maybe not, but it puzzles me! You might be (as I tried, yesterday) vising the site through the browser on your wife's iPhone, which is already set up with an account there (and it would require cancelling her log-in and completely resetting her iPhone to proceed on the path Apple now requires!), or ya might be using a friend's iPad (my next attempt, a few minutes later!), or etc. etc. etc.  Ooops! Brick wall! No options.
    Seems like a counter-productive decision, one that's certain to be counter to common-sense needs and goals of Apple users; I can't be the first person to find this dead-end to be frustrating and contrary to expectations.  Okay, I have my rant finished, now.
    Apple, what was the problem that you were so determined to "fix" with this, ummm, feature? Howsabout a little tiny button hidden in greyscale that allows you to contine to the website, or a forcing URL that bypasses the mobile "set-up" interception? Help?
    Thanks, gdgmacguy -- full credit for the answer! Darn it!
    Oops, for some reason it credited ME with the correct answer. I'll try to contact Apple support to get it credited to you. This is apparently a screwup in my posting.

  • How can I use transfer mobileme to icloud with new iphone 4s and old computers

    I have a mobileme account that I use to sync calendars, contacts, etc between my 3gs, emac, and Powerbook G4.
    (Processor Name:          PowerPC G4  (1.2)
      Processor Speed:          1.67 GHz)
    Just bought a new 4s and want to know if these old machines will work with the icloud?  If not, what can I do to keep stuff in sync?

    Your system don't meet the requirements.
         iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; a Mac      computer with OS X Lion; or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Outlook 2007 or 2010 or an up-to-date      browser is required for accessing email, contacts, and calendars). Some features require a Wi-Fi connection.      Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices.

  • How do I get my missing calendar events back after MobileMe deleted them from my iphone after syncing?

    I signed up for MobileMe about a month ago.  I noticed today that all of my calendar events from the last 18 months are missing on my iphone. I checked on MobileMe online and they are there.  'Sync' to me means 'make the two entries identical on the PC and the iPhone' not 'Move it to the online MobileMe and delete it from the phone'.
    Is there anyway to get them back on my phone?  If I had know this was going to happen I never would have signed up for MobileMe.
    Thanks,
    Ken

  • Mobileme calendar not working with iphone 3.1.3

    I recently updated ical on my mac to 4.0.4 on my Mac running 10.6.7.  My iphone running 3.1.3 can no longer receive the mobile me calendar updates.  All the mail works fine.  I am not sure if the contacts are being kept up either.  I also have an iphone 4 running 4.3.3 and all the mobile me pieces work there.  I have recovered a backup and that didn't fix it.  Deleted the account and rebuilt it.  The only way I can get the calendar to work is to sync it on itunes but that is not satisfactory for adding calendar entries from my phone over to my mobile me cloud.  So...Has 3.1.3 been left in the dust? and I have to retire my old reliable phone?  Say it aint so.  Thanks  Terry

    It looks like that Apple eliminated with this upgrade one of the key functions of the iPhone: Mobility for Mailing.
    Hi Zolee, I have the original 2G iphone running 3.0 and I also have MobileMe and I also have 2 POP accounts as you do, however, I have not had any problems with my POP accounts at all.
    Wishing you a speedy "fix"!! Good Luck!

  • Created groups on MobileMe, they show up on iPhone but without content

    Looking for some help....hopefully. New iPhone, synched my contacts with groups I created in MobileMe. The groups came through onto the phone, but without any entries in the individual groups. Only the "All" group received any entries.
    Do I need to erase the list on my iPhone and try to synch again?? I'm hoping I don't have to move each one on the phone. I have over 2 thousand contacts.
    Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer.

    Here's what I had to do on my iMac...I went to my iTunes Music folder, then into my Mobile Applications folder, and manually dragged the individual apps that weren't syncing to my iPhone into my iTunes library. Then, I deleted the duplicate copy that was there originally to avoid having doubles of everything. However, every time I would sync my iPhone with iTunes, it was taking a long time because it kept transferring the apps I originally purchased directly on my iPhone into my iTunes library, even though they were already there! So, I repurchased all the apps directly from iTunes on my computer. Most of them were free, but the ones I paid for I didn't have to pay for a second time. Now when I sync my iPhone, everything appears to be working the way it ought to. There must be a syncing flaw when it comes to apps purchased directly on an iPhone.

  • How to make my websites look good in iPhone and iPad?

    I have problem to make my website in iWeb look good in webbrowsers in iPhone or iPad... The background (JPEG-file)are dublicating several times!
    But that's not a problem for all my different sides, thou it was build in the same way. Here's the site (try to looka at it in a webbrowswer in any handheld
    divice): http://www.clavius.se

    That's the way Mobile Safari handles backgrounds.
    Why not use a normal background with proper text boxes.
    Anyway, remove your background in iWeb and paste this code in a HTML Snippet :
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    parent.document.body.style.backgroundImage='url(http://www.clavius.se/entresida.jpg)';
    parent.document.body.style.backgroundRepeat='no-repeat';
    parent.document.body.style.backgroundPosition='50% 0%';
    // -->
    </script>
    where the background file (entresida.jpg) is OUTSIDE the Site folder iWeb creates.
    BTW, here's how I make iPad friendly websites with iWeb :

  • Can Aperture ratings be carried over to the MobileMe website?

    i have recently started using Aperture, and i have just gone thro a large number of pics in Aperture and have rated the pics from 2 - 5 stars
    i have just made a revised website of my rated selections but i cannot work out how to carry the ratings over to the website in order to allow others to see what pics i prefer
    is it possible?

    thanks for that answer, tho i understand that it is not definitive, that it might be possible to get Aperture and MobileMe to do this
    i have posted a feature request on the link you gave and would like to keep the question open just in case someone else has an idea that the app might be able to achieve what i would like to have
    i am posting shoots that i want the subject to see, and in the old websites that .mac allowed me to post, at least i was able to uncheck images after posting the entire shoot, so that i could remove the unwanted pics after conferring with the subject
    but MobileMe does not allow me to do that anymore, and since Aperture and MobileMe are intertwined apps i feel that if i can rate an image in one, it ought to be able to see it in the other (and not just IF each image is downloaded and then opened and the metadata checked)

  • HD died... how do I get iWeb "See" the existing published MobileMe website

    Hard Drive died, lost everything. Apple replaced HD but could not save data on old drive. iWeb thinks it is "new" again and wants to start with a blank site. I have YEARS worth of published blog and content on my MobileMe account. How do I get iWeb to recognize this and not write over it destroying years of work?

    Brian ~ With "years of work" at stake, you've probably prudently been regularly running some kind of backup, such as _Time Machine_ or SuperDuper! ...So wherever you've been backing up to, look for iWeb's Domain file — its filename ends in an invisible ".sites", so you could search for that. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
    Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
    Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:
