Mobility Anchor , extened anchor

I have a query.
If there are 3 companies all using cisco wlc and 2 of the companies have a mobility anchor between them.(Company A and B), is it possible to for Company C to connect to companie A wireless lan via the mobility anchor on Company B?  Kind of extending the anchor?
Cheers in advance.

Mobility group name is just for roaming purposes. You can still anchor to another WLC WLAN if you want. It's like having a guest anchor WLC. The guest anchors should have a different mobility group name than the foreign WLC's.

  • Irregularity with anchor behaviour - inserting anchors in anchored frames

I am experiencing irregular behaviours with anchors and I'm not sure if it's a glitch or something I am overlooking. Sometimes it works, sometimes it dosen't, and I can't tell what is causing the difference.
What I want is an anchored text fram to a main body text - which is an imag caption - and from this text frame I create a new anchored image frame, in which I put the image I am referring to in the caption. Sometimes this process works smoothly, while other times, when I go to insert the anchor in the anchored text frame it re-routes me back to the main body text from where I came. I have tried different insertion points within the anchored text frame, but nothing seems to solve the problem in this scenario....
    any ideas?
    thanks!

    Kat,
I hope I understand your problem correctly.
The paragraph containing the figure title is positioned in the side head with alignment set to Top Edge. Then that paragraph is followed by another paragraph, which of course is in the main text column, empty, and aligned at the top with the side head.
With the insertion point in the second paragraph, import the image file. This puts the image below the line. Select the image, not the anchored frame, and scale it if necessary. If not created at the correct size, you probably want to scale it down to fit the width of the text column. Now press the key sequence Esc, m, p (note m and p are lowercase). The anchored frame shrinks to fit tightly around the image and changes it position to At Insertion Point. If you turn on Text Symbols, you will see the end-of-paragraph symbol at the lower right edge of the image, and the top of the anchored frame will align with the TOP of the side head text.
You also have to be sure the line spacing of the paragraph holding the image is NOT fixed or Frame will move the image up.
Hope this is what you need,
    Van

  • Anchors above anchored frames

    Hi all,
I'm developing some templates for computer software manuals. I need a nice neat generic method for adding images and their titles. I need the figure titles to be positioned in the side heading, aligned with the top of the figure beside it.
For tables I use a TableTitle side heading paragraph format that has a Table paragraph format after it with a negative space after value. The table format has a negative space before value, so when inserted it lines up nicely with the top of the table title.
I would like to do something similar for figures, but I can't seem to find a method of positioning the anchored frame that works. 'Below current line' would be ideal, if that didn't leave me with the line holding the anchor above it, which the side heading is then aligned with instead. Is there a way to apply a paragraph format to the anchored frame that would allow me to enter a negative space before value like i do with the table? Or is there some other way to align the anchored frame with the top of the title beside it?
Thanks very much to anyone who can help,
    Kat

  • !! Warning !! Guest anchor mobility fails in 5.0.48, Single Foreign

Finally some 5.0 chat showing up so I'll add this nugget. All controllers migrated from 4.2 to 5.0.48. All site (foreign) controllers = MOBGRP-CORP, anchor controller in central dmz = MOBGRP-DMZ..
Found that my first site where I implemented Guest via anchor mobility worked ok. Tried to bring up 2 new sites with their own foreign controller against same (working) anchor. NO GO. All debugs & shows indicate mobgroup, mobgroup anchor, etc all good. Debugs reveal mobility anchoring messages never being initated by foreign to anchor.
Reviewed with TAC for 3 hours last night. Finally found a bugID that related against 5.0.48.
Bottom line is that our site that was working had 2 foreign controllers. Site that wouldn't come up only had 1 foreign. Weird bug that if site has only 1 mobility member (beside anchor definition) then mob anchor plumbing messages won't exchange from foreign to anchor. Instead, debugs show foreign as anchor. Workaround = move anchor controller into same mobility group as the internal (foreign) controllers. All good now.
Hope this helps someone avoid 3 hrs w/ TAC. (And I felt I had a GOOD tac guy).
Now if I could just figure out how to have multiple profile/wlan definitions on anchor controller but have the same ssid on them all so that our guest ssid @ sites can be uniform. Currently won't let me define multiple wlans on anchor with same ssid, even if profile name is unique. Guess despite it not running APs it's still checking wlans for uniqueness. Not very 'enterprise' as we want to have each site a) Have standard guest ssid and b) Have their own IP address space for firewall log purposes, etc. A & B seemingly mutually exclusive in current situation, assuming central anchor controllers of course.

Well I guess now I need to follow up on my own post. After moving dmz anchor controller into "internal' mobility group, we ran into some weird issues.
    1) New APs at the site we were bringing on were somehow getting joined up to another site's controller. Only thing in common between sites was mobgrp name and the fact that they both anchored guest to the same central anchor controller.
    2) At the new site, guest seemed to work OK now but we were experiencing problems with hosts on one of the controllers internal wlans. They were not getting IPs. Debugs revealed that foreign (site) controller was bringing up guest tunnel to itself for this local, non-anchored wlan.
Opened another tac case. This tac engineer advises that while bug CSCsm71840 exists, the other engineer should not have told us the workaround was to put dmz anchor controller into internal mobility group. Rather, he advised, we should go into any controller (on dmz anchor end or internal foreign end) where there was only 1 controller in the mobility group and add a 'dummy' entry into the mobility group.
We changed the dmz anchor back to his own mobility group and then made the dummy entries and the mobility anchor worked correctly & so far appears that previously problematic internal wlan also works correctly.
This whole thing should make for some 'interesting' conversation with the BU shortly.

  • Load-Balancing between Foreign and two Anchors

Hi, we have two foreign controllers (one active, one standby) and two anchor controllers. All APs are connected to the active foreign controller. The layer 3 networks for the wlan clients on both anchors are different for the same SSID. SSID: Internet, anchor 1: Subnet A, anchor 2: Subnet B. So when a client is getting anchored to Anchor 1, the clients will get an ip from subnet A and when the client is getting anchored to anchor 2, the client will get an ip from subnet B.
This is so far not a big problem because we only have a few accesspoints in some rooms. But what will happen, when we have a full covered wlan and the client roams from one AP to the other AP? Is there a possibility, that the client will anchored to a different anchor while roaming? I think this will result in a lack of connectivity because without a real disconnect the client will not ask for a new IP address.
Other question: Is it possible to disable this load-balancing between anchor controllers? Or can i make a client sticky to only one anchor as long as an access-session is established?
All controllers are 5760 with 3.3.3 software.

    Hi acontes,
    It's an interesting question.
In this case, if all AP's are on WLC-A and there is no possibility that an L3 inter-subnet roam will occur between WLC-A and WLC-B, I would just forward WLC-A to Anchor A and WLC-B (in the event of fail over) to Anchor B (if Anchors reside on different subnets). If you must specify Anchor A and Anchor B on each WLC for redundancy purposes, it's important to understand the guidelines and limitations with regard to Foreign / Anchor Design.
As Scott mentioned, the limitation with Anchoring design is that there is no primary / secondary configuration for an Anchor on the Foreign WLC.
If WLC-A has two entries (1) for Anchor-A and (2) for Anchor-B, the EoIP tunnels are establish and load-balancing occurs in a round robin fashion.
Keep in mind the following with regard to guest N+1 redundancy:
•A given foreign controller load balances wireless client connections across the list of anchor controllers configured for the guest WLAN. There is currently no method to designate one anchor as primary with one or more secondary anchors.
•Wireless clients that are associated with an anchor WLC that becomes unreachable are re-associated with another anchor defined for the WLAN. When this happens, assuming web authentication is being used, the client is redirected to the web portal authentication page and required to re-submit their credentials.
Since traffic is transported at Layer 2 via EoIP, the first point at which DHCP services can be implemented is either locally on the anchor controller or the controller can relay client DHCP requests to an external server. Since the IP address directly correlates to the DMZ subnet or the interface where the traffic egresses, it is possible for some clients to get IP's from both Subnet A or Subnet B in the event that WLC-A is building EoIP to both anchors.
    1) What happens if my clients roam?
Nothing... since all AP's are on WLC-A, it's Intra-Controller Roaming
Each controller supports same-controller client roaming across access points managed by the same controller. This roaming is transparent to the client as the session is sustained, and the client continues using the same DHCP-assigned or client-assigned IP address. The controller provides DHCP functionality with a relay function. Same-controller roaming is supported in single-controller deployments and in multiple-controller deployments.
Would it be better to choose the same DHCP Pool on both anchors?
It's probably better to have redundant anchors on the same subnet, but it's not required.
    3) How would you design this :-)
    WLC-A <--EoIP--> Anchor A (DHCP Pool A)
    WLC-A <--EoIP--> Anchor B (DHCP Pool A)
It's important to remeber what Scott mentioned about the lack of a primary / secondary relationship. If multiple controllers are added as mobility anchors for a particular WLAN on a foreign controller, the foreign controller internally sorts the controller by their IP address. The controller with the lowest IP address is the first anchor. For example, a typical ordered list would be 172.16.7.25, and 172.16.7.28. If the first client associates to the foreign controller's anchored WLAN, the client database entry is sent to the first anchor controller in the list, the second client is sent to the second controller in the list, and so on, until the end of the anchor list is reached. The process is repeated starting with the first anchor controller.
If any of the anchor controller is detected to be down, all the clients anchored to the controller are deauthenticated, and the clients then go through the authentication/anchoring process again in a round-robin manner with the remaining controller in the anchor list. This functionality is also extended to regular mobility clients through mobility failover. This feature enables mobility group members to detect failed members and reroute clients.

  • Callouts and anchored objects - there must be a better way to do this

I've spent a lot of time in the last six months rebuilding PDF files in InDesign. It's part of my ordinary responsibilities, but I'm doing a lot more of it for some reason. Because I'm sending the text of these rebuild documents out for translation, I like to keep all of the text in a single story. It really helps to have the text in "logical order," I think; when I'm prepping a trifold brochure, I try pretty hard to make sure that the order in which the readers will read the text is duplicated in the flow of the story throughout the ID document.
So, I'm rebuilding a manual that has a 3-column format on lettersize paper, and it's full of callouts. Chock full of 'em. They're not pull quotes, either; each of these things has unique text. Keeping in mind that I'd like the text in these callouts to remain in the same position in the text once I've linked all the stories and exported an RTF for translation, what's the best way to handle them? What I've been doing is inserting an emptly stroked frame as an anchored object, sized and positioned to sit above the text that is supposed to be called out. When my translations come back, they're always longer than the source document, so as I crawl through the text, I resize the anchored frames to match the size and position of the newly expanded translated text, and then nudge them into place with the keyboard.
There Has To Be a Better Way.
There is a better way, right? I'm not actually too sure. If I want to actually fill those anchored frames with text, I can't thread them into the story. I suppose that I could just thread the callout frames and assign two RTFs for translation instead of one, but then the "logical order" of my text is thrown out the window. So, I'm down to asking myself "what's more important? reduction of formatting time or maintenance of the flow of the story?" If there's something I'm missing that would let me dodge this decision, I'd love to hear about it. The only thing I can think of would work like this:
    1) Duplicate callout text in the story with a custom swatch "Invisible"
    2) Create "CalloutText" parastyle with "Invisible" swatch and apply it to callout text
    3) Insert anchor for anchored frame immediately before the CalloutText content
    4) Send it out for translation
    5) While I'm waiting for it to come back, write a script that would (dunno if this is possible):
       a) Step through the main story looking for any instance of CalloutText
       b) Copy one continguous instance of that style to the clipboard
       c) Look back in the story for the first anchor preceeding the instance of CalloutText
       d) Fill the anchored object with the text from the clipboard (this is where I'm really clueless)
       e) Apply a new parastyle to the text in the callout
       f) Continue stepping through the story looking for further instances of CalloutText
If this really is the only decent solution, I'll just head over to the Scripting forum for some help with d). Can any of you make other suggestions?

The use of Side Heads saves weeks of manual labor.
Yup, Harbs, that is exactly what I was describing. If I use the Side Heads plugin to set up a job, will my clients get a missing plug-in warning when they open up the INDD? Will roundtripping through INX strip the plugin but leave the text in the callout? (My clients don't care if the logical flow of the story is broken; it's just me.)
I'm just curious; seems like a pretty obvious purchase to me. I'll probably try to script a solution anyways, after I buy the plugin; that way I get to learn about handling anchored objects in scripts AND deliver the job on time!

  • WLC+Anchor+Guest NAC

    Hello all
I have few basic clarifications on these components.. i have a network, with LWAPP's and WLC on one site - say site A. lets consider only the guest SSID, access as of now.. The Anchor guest controller is positioned on a DMZ segment on Site B. Site A & B are connected through a routed network. I also have a NAC guest server, on Site C. Now, i want to integrate all these components. As per my knowledge following is the traffic flow:
    1) When guest users access their SSID, they are mapped to the anchor controller in DMZ, throu mobililty groups.. the WLC then initiates a EoIP tunnel to DMZ controller.. Firewall rules allow, all reuired ports (IP 97, 16666 UDP etc), and end to end ip communication happens.
    2) Upon the reuest, the Anchor controller provides an Ip address from DHCP configured locally. In this case, will the default gateway of the PC's be Anchor DMZ controller's WLAN IP or will it be local to Site A (say L3 switch) ?
    3) Then when the user tries to access any site, he is given a web authentication portal, which is linked to the radius server/nac guest server. during authentication, dmz controller again tries speaking to the nac guest server in site c. hence the firewall has to alow for UDP 1812/1813 radius ports..
    4) after authentication, the user browses internet. Now, what will be the ip packet flow in this instance. Will all traffic be first tunneled across LWAPP to the controller, and from there EoIP'ed to the Anchor ? Anchor then forwards it to the internet gateway, through DMZ ? as asked before, will the default gateway of the PC's be the WLAN IP of the anchor ? if there are too many users, will I create many WLAN SSID's for guests, for Site A ?
    Sorry for the long post..
    Raj

    Greg
Thanks again.. that was useful too. One last query.. and this was grilling my head:
    1) how does the guest vlan egress work ? I have a WLC on a new DMZ of PIX, with /27 subnet.. This WLAN is used only for EoIP communication.. now, when the guest user gets a DHCP IP, what IP pool should i define here ? since the default route is going to be towards the PIX, it should be one among the 4 interfaces, right now ? or should I have another interface or VLAN dmz for the egress traffic from WLC ? SRND says something about dynamic interfaces, but not been explained at all :(
    2) will the foreign WLC talk to the Anchor controller 1 & 2, in load balancing mode ? why i'm asking is, if the dhcp is defined on Anchor 1 and if the request goest to anchor 2, then it will be an issue.. otherwise is it advicible to split up dhcp scopes between the two Anchors ? say 1-127 in one anchor and 128-254 on other ?
    3) Lastly.. about guest nac servers.. i have 2 of them in place.. will the guest database be replicated between them , like what ACS does ? if so, is the replication bidirectional ? If lobby admin creates an account, it will be good if he just creates in one box, and the other box replicates it ..
Thanks for all your answers.. it has been really useful to me.. and i think will be useful for anyone who works on Anchor+guest+foreign WLC designs :)

  • Originating more than 1 EoIP tunnel to an anchor controller possible?

I'm attempting to set up (for testing purposes) a 2nd 'guest' SSID on an internal WLC (WLC-A), and terminate it in a DMZ on an anchor controller (WLC-B).  We already have a guest SSID originating on WLC-A and terminating on WLC-B though.  Is it possible to originate a 2nd guest SSID on WLC-A?
    WLC-A - 2504 (7.2.x)
    WLC-B - 5508 (7.2.x)
The problem I'm seeing is I'm getting no DHCP address assigned on the test SSID.  If I statically assign IP information I still have no connectivity.  It's as if the EoIP tunnel for the 2nd test SSID isn't functional.
    TIA

Also when you do this, makes sure you have the same SSID configuration on both WLCs. If you created a new test SSID on the foreign, you need to create a new test SSID in the anchor. The only difference in the configuration should be the interface. Also make sure the test SSID in the anchor is anchored to itself (local) and the test SSID in the foreign WLC is anchored to the anchor WLC. The test SSID in the anchor can share the same interface as the guest.

  • Named anchor problem in Firefox

I have some links that go to named anchors. The links are in a library item that is placed in a page template.
The html links look like this: ../mypage_topic.html#anchor, ../mypage_topic2.html#anchor, ../mypage_topic3.html#anchor
The anchor takes you to a section in the page so the viewer doesn't always see the masthead then has to scroll down.
If have just noticed that the anchors don't work in Firefox on a Mac, a solution has been suggested to remove the # from the anchor link.
I don't know if that will work being that I would end up with a html link looking like this: ../mypage_topic.htmlanchor
I'm looking for a fix/workaround to this problem.

The links are from the teacher names in the right hand column. The named anchor sits between the masthead image and the navigation menu.

  • Getting image to work with nested styled and an image anchor

    Hello,
I have created a nested style for a directory I will be creating. The style has a headline, subhead and body character style. That is all working fine.
I am using a text anchor to anchor a photo to the left of where each headline starts.
I am trying to get the text to wrap along the right side of the image. (so, head would move to the top right of the image, subhead would move up and the body copy would move up and wrap the rest of the image.
See below what I have. I have tried to play with the anchor options, but have been unsuccessful. I can't use a regular text wrap, because it is no longer considered an image.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks!

    Nevermind -I figured it out.
If I put the image above the first line of copy (the headline), not next to it, the following anchor options worked..

  • Some questions about Muse

First of all, I would like to say that I am very impressed with how well Muse works and how easy it was to create a website that satisfies me. Before I started a daily updated website I thought I would encounter many problems I will not be able to solve. I have only had a few minor issues which I would like to share with you.
The most problems I have with a horizontal layouts (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/dig-t-r-3-cylindrowy-silnik-nissana-o-wadze-40-kg-i-mocy-400- km.html). Marking and copying of a text is possible only on the last (top) layer of a document. The same situation is with widgets or anything connected with rollover state - it does not work. In the above example it would be perfect to use a composition/tooltip widget on the first page. Unfortunately, you cannot even move the cursor into it.
It would be helpful to have an option of rolling a mouse to an anchor (like in here http://www.play.pl/super-smartfony/lg-nexus-5.html and here http://www.thepetedesign.com/demos/onepage_scroll_demo.html).  I mean any action of a mouse wheel would make a move to another anchor/screen. It would make navigation of my site very easy.
Is it possible to create a widget with a function next anchor/previous anchor? Currently, in the menu every button must be connected to a different anchor for the menu to be functional.
A question about Adobe Muse. Is it possible to create panels in different columns? It would make it easier to go through all the sophisticated program functions.
The hits from Facebook have sometimes very long links, eg.
(http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/mclaren-p1-nowy-krol-nurburgring.html?fb_action_ids=143235557 3667782&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582). If such a link is activated, the anchors in the menu do not work on any page. I mean the backlight of an active state, which helps the user to find out where on page they currently are. The problem also occurs when in the name of a html file polish fonts exist. And sometimes the dots does not work without any reason, mostly in the main page, sometimes in the cooperation page either (http://www.leftlane.pl/wspolpraca/). In the first case (on main page), I do not know why. I have checked if they did not drop into a state button by accident,  moved them among the layers, numbered them from scratch and it did not help. In the cooperation page, the first anchor does not work if it is in Y axle set at 0. If I move it right direction- everything is ok.
The text frame with background fill does not change text color in overlay state (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/nowe-mini-krolestwo-silnikow-3-cylindrowych.html). I mean a source button at the beginning of every text. I would like a dark text and a light layer in a rollover, but  the text after export and moving cursor into it does not change color for some reason.
I was not sure whether to keep everything (whole website) in one Muse file (but I may be mistaken?). I have decided to divide it into months. Everyone is in a different Muse file. If something goes wrong, I will not have any trouble with an upload of a whole site, which is going to get bigger and bigger.
The problem is that every file has two master pages. Everything works well up to the moment when I realize how many times I have to make changes in upper menu when I need to add something there. I have already 5 files, every with 2 masters. Is there any way to solve this problem? Maybe something to do with Business Catalyst, where I could connect a menu to every subpage independently, deleting it from Muse file? Doing so I would be able to edit it everywhere from one place. It would make my work much easier, but I have no idea jendak how to do it.
The comments Disqus do not load, especially at horizontal layouts  (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/2014-infiniti-q50-eau-rouge-concept.html). I have exchanged some mails and screenshots with Disqus help. I have sent them a screenshot where the comments are not loaded, because they almost never load. They have replied that it works at their place even with attached screenshot. I have a hard time to discuss it, because it does not work with me and with my friends either. Maybe you could fix it? I would not like to end up with awful facebook comments ;). The problem is with Firefox on PC and Mac. Chrome, Safari and Opera work ok.
YouTube movie level layouts do not work well with IE11 and Safari 7 (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/wypadki-drogowe--004.html). The background should roll left, but in the above mentioned browsers it jumps up. Moreover the scrolling with menu dots is not fluent on Firefox, but I guess it is due to Firefox issues? The same layout but in vertical version rolls fluently in Firefox (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/polskie-wypadki--005.html).
Now, viewing the website on new smartphones and tablets. I know it is not a mobile/tablet layout, but I tried to make it possible to be used on mobile hardware with HD (1280) display. I mean most of all horizontal layouts (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/2015-hyundai-genesis.html), where If we want to roll left, we need to roll down. Is there a way to make it possible to move the finger the direction in which the layout goes?
On Android phones (Nexus 4, Android 4.4.2, Chrome 32) the fade away background effect does not work, although I have spent a lot of time over it (http://www.leftlane.pl/lut14/koniec-produkcji-elektrycznego-renault-fluence-ze!.html). It is ok on PC, but on the phone it does not look good. A whole picture moves from a lower layer instead of an edge which spoils everything.
This layout does not look good on Android (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/nowe-mini-krolestwo-silnikow-3-cylindrowych.html#a07). The background does not fill the whole width of a page. There are also problems with a photo gallery, where full screen pictures should fill more of a screen.
Is it possible to make an option of  scroll effects/motions for a fullscreen slideshow widget thumbnails (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/2014-chevrolet-ss%2c-rodzinny-sedan-z-415-konnym-v8.html#a06)? It would help me with designing layouts. Currently, it can go from a bottom of a page at x1 speed or emerge (like in this layout) by changing opacity. Something more will be needed, I suppose.
Sometimes the pictures from gallery (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/2014-chevrolet-ss%2c-rodzinny-sedan-z-415-konnym-v8.html#a06 download very slowly. The website is hosted at Business Catalyst. I cannot state when exactly it happens, most of the time it works ok.
I really like layouts like this (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/2014-chevrolet-ss%2c-rodzinny-sedan-z-415-konnym-v8.html#a03). On the top is a description and a main text, and the picture is a filled object with a hold set at the bottom edge. That is why there is a nice effect of a filling a whole screen- nevertheless the resolution that is set. It works perfect on PC, but on Android the picture goes beyond the screen. You can do something about it?
In horizontal layouts (http://www.leftlane.pl/sty14/dig-t-r-3-cylindrowy-silnik-nissana-o-wadze-40-kg-i-mocy-400- km.html) holding of a filling object does not work. Everything is always held to upper edge of a screen regardless the settings. Possibility of holding the picture to the bottom edge or center would make my work much easier.
According to UE regulations we have to inform about the cookies. I do not know how to do it in Muse. I mean, when the message shows up one time and is accepted, there would be no need to show it again and again during another visit on the website. Is there any way to do it? Is there any widget for it maybe?
The YouTube widget sometimes changes size just like that. It is so when the miniature of the movie does not load, and the widget is set to stroke (in our case 4 pixels, rounded to 1 pixel). As I remember ( in case of a load error) it extends for 8 pixels wide.
Last but not least - we use the cheapest hosting plan in Business Catalyst. The monthly bandwidth is enough, although we have a lot of pictures and we worried about it at first. Yet we are running out of the disk storage very quickly. We have used more than a half of a 1 GB after a month. We do not want to change BC for a different one, because we like the way it is connected with Muse. But we do not want to buy the most expensive package - but only this one has more disk space. We do not need any other of these functions and it would devastate our budget. Do we have any other option?
    I’m using Adobe Muse 7.2 on OS X 10.9.1.
and I'm sending Muse file to <[email protected]>

Unfortunatley, there is no way to get a code view in Muse. I know quite a few people requested it in the previous forum, but not really sure where that ended up. Also, you may not want to bring the html into DW unless you only have 1 or 2 small changes 2 make. Two reasons. First, it isnt backwards compatible, so if you are planning on updating that site in Muse, you will need to make those changes in DW everytime you update. Second, by all accounts the HTML that Muse puts out is not pretty or easy to work with. Unlike you, I am code averse, but there was a lenghty discussion on the previous forum on this topic. I know they were striving to make it better with every release, just not sure where it is at this point.
Dont think I am reading that second question right, but there was a ton of info on that old site. You may want to take a look there, people posted a ton of great unique solutions, so it worth a look.

  • Guest Wireless Tunnelling - DHCP Issue

    Hi,
I'm attempting to implement Guest Anchor tunnelling between two WLC's but I've run into an odd issue I cannot find a clear answer to.
We have two 5508 WLC's, both Running 7.4.100.0.
The Guest Anchor Controller obviously resides in a DMZ, it's functionality has been proven by connecting an AP directly to it, and connecting the the guest WLAN.
The two controllers have been configured as Mobility Peers, the Mobility Tunnel between them is up (mping and eping both successful, status is up).
The Guest WLAN has been replicated on both controllers, I have set the Mobility Anchor on the WLAN. The Guest Anchor has itself as the mobility anchor and the Internal Controller has the Guest Anchor set.
DHCP is provided by the Guest Anchor's internal DHCP Server. DHCP Proxy is enabled on both Controllers, with the Option 82 format set to AP-MAC. Both Controllers WLAN settings are set to DHCP Server Override, pointed to the Management IP of the Guest Anchor and DHCP Addr. Assignment required.
The problem I'm experiencing is with connecting clients through the Internal WLC. The Client Associates to the Internal WLC and obtains a lease from the Guest Anchor and connects to the network. A few seconds later the client is dessociated from the internal controller. On every subsequent connection attempt, the client does not recieve a response to it's DHCP Requests, and hence ends up with an apipa address.
The Message logs on two controllers return the following errors:
    INTERNAL CONTROLLER:
*apfReceiveTask: Jun 27 14:03:25.839: #APF-4-HANDOFF_END_RCVD: apf_mm.c:1626 Handoff end received in wrong role (peer Ip: 0.0.0.0, sender:GUEST_ANCHOR_IP, Role:0) for mobile Client_MAC
    GUEST ANCHOR CONTROLLER:
    *DHCP Server: Jun 27 14:03:14.466: #DHCP-4-REQIP_NOT_PRESENT: dhcpd.c:559 Received a packet without a requested ip!.
Has anyone else seen similar behaviour? Does anyone have an ideas what might be causing this?
    Many Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi George,
    Thanks for the reply.
The Guest WLAN on the Internal Controller is Anchored to the WLC in the DMZ. The Guest Anchor is anchored to itself.
There are only two controllers in the configuration, so breaking off one of the Anchors isn't really an option.
I have tested the Guest Anchor as a Standalone WLC by connecting an AP directly to it, in that configuration DHCP works as expected.

  • How do I open up a specific port in the Application Level Firewall?

Currently, my system blocks port 2336 and I want to open this up. To be precise: port 2336 is listening on the local system, both on 127.0.0.1 and its 192.168.x.x address, but no client on the LAN can connect to port 2336.
IPFW and PF are not running. When I turn ALF off in System Preferences, I can connect to port 2336 from a LAN client. So ALF is blocking port 2336. How can I open this up?

Linc, thatnks for the reply. I dived into this a bit more and studied the setup of the ALF. I find it confusing, on the one hand it is mentioned in the packet filter firewall setup in /etc/pf.anchors/com.apple:
    # Application Firewall anchor point.
    anchor "250.ApplicationFirewall/*"
OTOH, such an entry is nowhere to be found on my system and the ALF command socketfilterfw somehow seems to suggest it is a socket filter and not a packet filter and that it is indeed working at a different level, namely the level that decides which executable is allowed to listen on which socket (port).
I am trying to find out what program is being started when I connect to port 2336 (service appleugcontrol according to /etc/services) so I can enable it with socketfilterfw. But I can't find out which program I have to enable.
I can turn off my ALF altogether, but I am used to running a firewall on my system, even if it is behind a NAT and ports are not as easily reached from the outside. I want my internal network to have some security too. In the 10.6 days, that was ipfw. Now it is PF which is off by default. I tried IceFloor to manage the PF firewall (so I can turn the ALF off) but the result was negative. Whatever I put in the settings, it blocked about everything.
The reason I want to open this port is that without it server-side file tracking for mobile home sync does not work and mobile home syncing by clients becomes very slow. Server-side file tracking for mobile home syncing requires that the FileSyncAgent on the client is able to create a SSH connection to port 2336 on the server. But as it stands now, ALF is blocking that.
