Mobo beeping + Tt volcano 7

hi! i have a kt260 pro2 mobo with an AMD athlon XP 1600+. I also have a Thermaltake Volcano 7 cpu cooler. My problem is that the motherboard keeps saying that my CPU fan isnt running when it is, and i have the single wire hooked up to the mobo that tells it the RPM and stuff but its getting power from the PSU like it is supposed to. And now the mobo just goes "beep"(its really short) every like 2 minutes while in windows. any one have a solution. Thanx for any help.

Can somebody give a guide to mobo beeps?
My motherboard makes such sequence:  1 long and short beep then series of 8 short beeps.  I may be wrong with that 1long and short at the beginning because of my shitty speaker but  those 8 beeps are clearly heard.
    please help.

  • MSI Radeon R7 250 black screen and mobo beep in game

Hi guys I have a bit of a problem with my video card, I bought MSI Radeon R7 250 last month I haven't played any games really since then as I had no time, but about week ago when I started to play world of warcraft, after 2h of gameplay my screen went black and my mobo buzzer started to beep, this have happened with my other games too. I have checked the buzzer code it and it turned that im getting video/display error, I have been searching over the web about the source of it but I got nothing, now my question is can I fix it somehow or is it a manufacture issue, all of my divers are up to date.
My PC is practically new i got it at the end of last year, those are the specs:
CPU: AMD Athlone IIx2 270 3.2GHz (I have overclocked it to 3.99GHz but after the errors I got it back to stock)
    RAM: 2x2Gb Corsair Value DDR3
    Mobo: MSI 760GA - P43(FX)
    GPU: MSI Afterburner Radeon R7 250 1Gb GDDR5 (4.6 Effective Memory Clock)
    PSU: 500W
When I was overclocking the CPU I got Arctic Freezer 13 so all the temps were fine.
I have runned stress test with FurMark for about 30 min just to check temps and i got 60 degree, in game im getting about 45 - 50, CPU max is 26

Try clearing CMOS >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
Also try running the PC without the GPU inside (make sure you disconnect power cables).
PSU seems to be enough for this GPU. But if possible (hopefully a friend has better one) test with different PSU. And test the card in different PC too (if possible of course).

  • K330 with a dead (?) drive

Saturday, the machine worked fine. Sunday, Win7 updates were done. Tried turning it back on-- "select boot drive". There is NO harddrive option. There is a low, long beep from the drive (not mobo beeps, unplugged HDD-- beeping stopped). Tried to boot from a mini xp disk, doesn't recognize drive. Spinrite doesn't see a drive, took out drive put it in a driver reader, won't mount. Even 30m in the freezer didn't help. So now that it's dead (pretty certain it's a goner); is there a "recovery" disk from Lenovo so that I can install to a new drive?

if you have no cds that came with it then there was a recovery partition was on the hdd if the hdd and you never did a persional backup then you will have to buy a copy of windows, how old is the pc if its still under warrenty then they should replace it, if not goto the hdd web site and see if the hdd is covered

  • Siren sound...again

Opteron 244 in MSI K8D Master-F. See more specs in my signature below.
PC powers up, 5-10 seconds later the infamous siren sound (continuos high-low-high-low tones) starts.
NOTE: The PC boots just fine, Windows runs at it should... CPU temp is 45°C, chassis intrusion is disabled and cleared, BUT the MSI PC Alert util still states that the chassis is open, grrr..shouldn't matter, tho'.
IT's just that f**** annoying siren sound!!!
Flashed BIOS today (could be something here), got the sound afterwards. Cleared CMOS, loaded CMOS defaults, cleared logs, cleared intrusion, disabled intrusion.
Google'd around, checked MSI and AMD sites.
Found 4 explanations for this particular mobo beep code: (It's got an AMI BIOS)
    1. Wrong RAM type
    2. CPU overheating
    3. Chassis intrusion
    4. PSU problem
...but the damn thing have been working fine the last cpl' days, so how do I stop the "#¤#"¤ sound?
Read somewhere that it was possible to hear this sound if the mobo THOUGHT there was no system fans inside the case. Well, the only fan connected to the mobo, is the CPU fan. The 7 case fans are controlled and powered separately from the mobo. So, if this is the problem, how do I "tell" the mobo to shup up about it?
Update: System won't boot at all, now. No signal on screen. Only siren sound. Fans and all spins up, tho'. Had the same situation when trying to run the PC on other memory types. Now I'm stuck. Again.
    Any ideas appreciated....

Hi all. Thanx for your ideas and efforts :-)
    FYI, current status:
No beeping now; I upgraded the BIOS to the newest one, cleared CMOS, disabled what-could-be-disabled regarding system chassis & cpu temp monitoring, and put a jumper on the chassis intrusion pins on the mobo.
Didn't get the Audigy2ZS to work, but funnily enough, the Audigy 1 works as a dream!
Don't have any onboard sound, nor AGP slot; this is a "server" mobo and therefore, some wiseass decided that AGP wasn't necessary. No big deal for me, really, as I'm not a gamer, but AGP _would_ have been nice.
Have only got 2 PCI slots, the rest are PCIX. The Audigy2ZS is detected and you can hear crosstalk in the SPDIF connector when something is played, but that's pretty much it. Gone through all system settings with a couple of friends (one of which is an mcse and -should- have known what he was doing) - reinstalled, checked the device manager, multimedia settings, volume controls, pretty much the lot. Card works as a dream in another PC, tho'. Anyway, no big deal, I'll just use it in one of my other machines and stick to the Audigy 1 in this one for now.
I'll guess it's cased closed for now :-)
    Thanx a mil'

  • K7T266 Pro2 boot hangs with MSI GeForce 4 MX 440

Just installed the mobo and VGA combo mentioned in the Title and I get very regular boot freeze - mobo beeps and hangs with 2 possible results - 1/ no video signal 2/ garbage on screen
After many many restarts the system boots OK. On next power-up the same story.
The BIOS is dated November 2002 (sorry, cannot find the version string now) , the GF4 card was tested with 2 versions of its BIOS: 4.17.00.24.36 and 4.17.00.30.00 and the result is the same.
CPU is Athlon 1200, 512 MB DDR RAM.
Any help appreciated. If it is necessary for me to provide more information, I will be happy to do so.

    What OS are you using?
Did you do a clean install after installing the MB and Video Card?
Did you update your Video Drivers to the latest and greatest?
What version of Directx are you using?
Did you set your BIOS settings back to default?
What other hardware are you using that may be incompatible with the MB and/or Video card you're using?
Check to see that you didn't accidently knock one of the memory modules loose when you were installing the MB.
Also check to see if your processor fan has enuff thermal grease and is seated on your processor properly.
Hope the checklist helps...I had the same problem with mine when I got it and I flashed the BIOS then reloaded my OS when that failed to fix it. It's been great since then. Remember to backup any data that you might want to keep before you reload though...GL! 8)

  • Symptoms of a Dead PSU

Hello, Can somebody please post symptoms that point
to a faulty PSU. Such as will any fans even turn on,
will there even be any mobo beeps, etc.I need this to
     figure out my comp's problem.
      Thanks

My PSU started to produce the "burning-plastic" smell when I put too many fans on the "Fan Only" wire. I overloaded the wire and the fams were running at half speed -or not at all.
Turns out the "FanOnly" Wires were meant to only have 1 Fan on them. The regular PSU connectors can transfer the full Wattage, so I would try chaining everything together from the regular wires - if your PSU differentiates that is.
    I have an Antec 430WATT True-Power PSU.

  • First time build, problems detecting SATA

I just got done putting together my first build, everything went well, until I attempted to boot up, I can get into the bios and the mobo beeps once, but when I'm in the bios there are no SATA detected the bios is set on IDE and toggling between all the settings is not working no dvd, and no hardrives show up. They all have power(i can hear the hard drives spin up and the dvd drive will eject)
I've attempted swapping cables and ports galore, but to no avail.
I'm out of ideas, anyone have any tips?
Also If it helps, I pulled the drives and dvd drive out of my last computer and they were working just fine.

Give this a try. OS HDD in SATA 1 port, 2nd HDD in SATA port 2. ODD & front case can be left as is. What controller mode was the OS installed with in the other system? With a new system, it is almost never a smooth transition with a HDD that has a previous OS on it. All the chipset drivers & other drivers will be wrong for the new system. A new fresh install is always the only sure-fire way to go.
This is what i started with, the original HD is IDE, but even still, the SATA ports wont register ANYthing, it's like the connection is broke.. I'm getting in touch with them through customer support. Hopefully they will be able to help / replace the board. I posted on some other forums and they all led back to the motherboard being faulty. I even ripped everything back out of the case and laid the board on cardboard, and it was the same thing.
    I appreciate your help.

  • Cannot boot with graphics card installed

    Specs:
    MSI R9 280 TWIN FROZR
    ASRock H97M
    Core i5 4750
    Corsair 750W
    8GB g.skills
First time builder. Build was turning on (CPU/case/GPU fans running) but going to a black screen with no bios or POST. No mobo beep codes because somehow it doesn't have speaker bumpers. With the R9 unplugged, it gets to bios fine. I triple checked the power cables and seating of the card. Made sure in the BIOS it was set to PCI-E as the default graphics source. Looked on ASRock's site but couldn't find compatibility info.
Is the card a dud, or is there anything else I should try?
    Thanks so much

CPU socket was fine. I switched the bios to internal graphics and kept the GPU installed, BIOS could see the card in the slot fine.. which at first I thought meant the gpu was definitely busted. But then, I switched the PCI-E Speed from "auto" to "Gen2" and default GPU back to the PCI-E slot and lo, it worked and booted. Tried "gen3", didn't work. Switched the switch at the top and tried Gen3, and it worked!
Weirdly, messing around again I un-switched the switch and put it back to "Auto", and it still boots fine now..
EDIT: Never mind, still need gen3/switched to the left

According to the "DDR400 Memory Modules Qualified Vender List" in this site, this kind of RAM module

Re-installing the old DDR333 PC2700 RAM the PC boots and works as usual....

I'm not sure where to start. I came home to find my computer off. Turning it back on results in all the lights and fans coming back on. No post   and no beeps. Screens are just blank.
The 8 blue CPU phase LED lights above the CPU are all on.  Nothing unusual there.
The Debug LED lights show "dE" which isn't documented at all in the manual. Does anyone know what this error code means?

Power off, battery removed, CMOS clear may be worth trying. Yes, test each stick individually in the DIMM2 slot.

  • :censored: are the beep codes? KT2 combo mobo help

yeah, i looked and looked and looked, no where in my motherboard users manual (,  who does that????????)  and there is NO section outlining the beep code values.  ?>??? :O  X(  X(
anyhow, i think my problem is that the system refuses to boot when set to 100mhz FSB.  Since i know that my 1.1ghz T-bird is a 100fsb chip, when i set the fsb to 133 (so that the system would frickin boot), i just get a bunch of beep codes.     The thing is that the board just WILL NOT BOOT when i set the FSB to 100mhz.  if i switch it over to 133, it boots but beeps at me.   Faulty board?   I just barely got it in the mail from newegg.
    thanks.
btw, the proc seems ok.  i've burnt a ton of procs up so i reckognize the smell from a mile away and i dont smell anything.  i'll take off the heatsink now just to be sure.

Thanks, i'm kinda pissed cuz when i put in my 600 mhz Duron, i fried it.  Lord know how as there are NO burn marks ANYWHERE on the chip, but its a goner.  when i took it out i could feel that even the ceramic was hot.   :O  (thats me swearing)
so now i'm down a 1.1 t-bird, a 600 duron, and a KT2 Combo board because it will not boot when you set it to 100 FSB.
