MOBO doesn't past POST

I just brought some new RAM and installed it.
Everything worked at 1st, so I head into the BIOS to up my FSB frequency to 200mhz (PC3200 RAM) and droped the multiplyer to 10.5. That should of given my a Core frequency of 2100. I know my chip could handle more cause it was running at 2200 before on my old PC2700 RAM bit I went in lower just in case.
Anyway I saved those options and then the machine now doesn't past POST, I have tryed clearing the CMOS and no joy I have also put the old RAM back in and still doesn't work.
Anything else I can do?
I have a MSI K7N2G (ILSR)
was PC2700 Kingston 512mb RAM, then tryed PC3200 COrsair 256RAM
AMD 2800+
S-ATA 80GB HD
XFX GeForce 5600FX GFX card
Samsung CD-ROM
Samsung CR-RW

I don't think so. There are two reasons why I'm using this board instead of a msi board:
- Msi boards no longer offer mounting holes for headsinks. I need them for my watercooling.
- Asus uses passiv northbridge cooling. Works fine and is noiseless.
I bought a nvidia board because I was curious about soundstorm audio. Really great sound but in the moment I'm having little problems with the line in, that's why I'm using my old soundblaster. No time to solve my prob so far...

  • My system won't boot past POST after I plugged in my new SATA drive. (SATA noob

    I have a MSI K8n Neo 2 Platinum mobo with a Athlon64 +3500 and 1gig dual channel DDR 400. I currently have 2 drives set up a IDE primary (MAxtor 6Y120) and a IDE slave (Maxtor 6L080).
    I recently purchased a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6L300S0 300GB Serial ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer.
It is my first SATA drive ever so non the less I am a newb. I want to use it as a non Raid media storage device while my primary IDE remains my boot OS drive.
I plugged the SATA in to the sata one port and powered it. I enabled the SATA in the bios with RAID disabled. When the system boots up it does the memory chech and lists all the IDE devices. Then it says "Detecting IDE drives..." and just hangs there. The new drive spins so it definatly has power but occasionaly it make occasional clicking sounds.
Once it actually booted up and windows detected it. I decided to reboot it just to play it safe but it never would get past post screen again. I can boot up the system normally when I unplug the SATA cable.
Please help I need to know if I am doing something wrong or I should RMA the drive. THANK YOU!

  • Network confirmation cancell. thru CN29,when past posting period isnot open

    Hi Gurus,
I have one query regarding netowrk confirmation. In our scnario, we are confirming network activity/element directly through CN27. Now after confirmation, due to some mistake we are trying to cancel that confimration through CN29 but system gives me error that "posting period is not open". As my network confirmation was done in the month of March'10 and i am trying to cancel it in April'10 that's why system is not allowing me to canel the confimration.
Now my query is that how to cancel the network confimmation without opening past posting period. I looked into the configuration for network confirmations but there is no setting available to allow cacellation of network confirmation done in posting period which is not open now.
however in CAT5, we have a option where we can enter cancellation posting date, and system allows to cancel time postring for that period also which is closed now (by putting cancellation posting date belonging to current posting period wihhc is open).
    regards
    Alok Mittal

I have not verified the same on system, but  It's quite good observation. I think it's standard behavior  in system and could be possible, in CN29 you are not having option to put posting date, so, system is taking date of posting date on which it got posted for reversal. i.e. March 10, but period is closed for that date. so, system is giving you error that period is closed.
Now coming to CAT5 if you give posting date of March 10, and try to reverse this document system will give you same error of period close. but if you give posting date of period April 10 system will allow to post. Because  current period is open. Reversal program works in SAP based on some logic for different documents.
If you wanted to check why system is behaving in that way in that case, compare  both documents ( original posted and reversal document posted in CAT5, check after posting reversal document is there any change done by system to original documents , I understand mostly system put reversal tick mark or  so, in original document and give reference document in new documents )
    Please check and revert back.

  • Cmd+v doesn't paste in the file upload dialogue's search field in Safari

In Safari 4.0.4 on OS X 10.6.2, cmd+v doesn't paste in the file upload dialogue's search field in Safari. It just makes an audio beep to indicate an error.
    Using a sample file uploader:
    1.) Visit http://upload.youtube.com/myvideosupload
2.) Click the "Upload Video" button.
    3.) Select file(s) to upload to s.ytimg.com
4.) Click on the search text field
*5.) Cmd+V to paste text. Nothing happens.*
However, if you right-click, "Paste" is not grayed out, and you can paste normally.
This is for version 4.0.4, but this behavior has been present for as long as I can remember using Safari.
    Can anyone confirm this bug?

    HI,
I can't confirm a bug but you can report it.
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Report Bugs to Apple.

I want to delete all past posts/questions & my username / account. How do I do that? I will make a new account with my new email and name but I want all of these posts and username deleted. please advise. thank you.

Whether or not the hosts do delete your posts, do not make the mistake of believing that deleting something from the internet is so easy.  Once those posts have been archived by other sites that monitor this one, they remain archived.  People may still be able to find your cached posts on Google, for example.  In the future, you should not post anything anywhere online if you are not willing for the world to see it.

  • I tunes 12 doesn't paste songs to playlists

I work with Itunes and I've got lots of playlists.
In any version until now I could copy (select + cmd-c) a song or a group of songs and paste them (cmd-v) into another playlist.
For some reason ITunes 12 copies the selected song, but doesn't paste it.
Even in the Edit Menu, that pasting option is greyed out.
Please does any one have the same problem / solution??
The only option is to drag and drop songs into playlists, but this option is like 10 times slower and cumbersome.
    Thanks a lot

    I have found an option...
there is a wheel on the bottom Right of Itunes, when clicked, a menu unfolded, giving me the option of "Edit Playlist"
I click on it, and  a new column appeared on the right, now I can copy and paste songs into the playlist.
It's kind of ok, but I can't see the full details of the songs in the playlist I'm using.
Also it's an unnecessary extra step

  • Nforce2 mobo doesn't post

It clears the CPU check, reads the ddr clock as 333 accurately, then stops. The hdd I'm using use to be in my kt3 ultra2 system, but I killed the mobo on accident before I could I reformat the drive or anything.... do you think the via drivers on the hdd are messing up this new system? None of the leds on the floppy, cd or the hdd are even lighting up... I can hear all my fans power up but if my hdd isn't even being accessed, then how could via drivers be causing this problem... I need all the help I can get from these forums! I e-mailed msi support and they replied with a basic list of suggestions for frequent problems to my specific and non listed problem.

  • Illustrator CS6 clipboard doesn't paste text from other programs, stays 'frozen.'

Lion Mac Tryout version: After using Illustrator CS6 copy and paste a couple times (just after you start it up), I cannot change the clipboard.
I cannot paste common text in from anywhere. It just pastes again the text from the last time the clipboard worked. I have to restart Illustrator CS6 to get a couple more correct clipboard uses before it repeats the same paste over and over despite what I just copied externally.
I'm having to still use Illustrator CS5.5 because of this. And wonder if updating to the Cloud version will turn off my access to Illustrator CS5.5. Help!
I think I won't be able to upgrade for real if this keeps happening.

I refuse to debate with anyone in literally lives in an online forum and has amassed >8,900 posts to their name (expecially at a pace of 8 posts per day, 365 days a year). Nevertheless, I stand by my previous two posts.  It still can be a bug even though some experienced bug-reporting techno-masters have not seen it.  And the fact remains the bug goes away for a while when you relaunch Illustrator.  The problem is that it comes back at some point and none of us like the idea of perpetually relaunching Illustrator while we are working on a project in Illustrator.  Furthermore, the fact some of us are seeing this bug doesn't mean there's a hidden/forgotten clipboard manager on our computers either.  Some of us are also certainly no novices to Illustrator and we know of past bugs -- bugs which did not affect everyone (like the bug in Illustrator CS5 that would cause the application to crash/quit when you try to copy large graphics within Illustrator itself).  It is also important to consider that Illustrator users are most often Creative Pros, not Techno-Wizards. As such they would prefer to be spared the lectures when it comes to proper protocol on bug reporting to Adobe.  Posting in forums like this one is not in vain.  And although proper bug reporting is important, to think Adobe (or the online media) is oblivious to forum posts is naive in the extreme.
For now, you can get around Illustrator CS6 Paste bug by drag-and-drop.  Works for graphics but in most cases you can't always do that with text.  But at least it is a semi-convient copy/paste-like way to move content from another app into Illustrator CS6.
I would like to add that I can COPY text or graphics within Illustrator CS6 and then Paste them in an external app just fine.  The bug in CS6 seems exclusive to Copying something outside Illustrator and then PASTING it into Illustrator.  So for those of you filing bug reports on this, you may wish to confirm that point and then file it as a "Can't PASTE content copied from external apps" bug.
Lastly, I'd like to point out that this thread is currently the lone place on the net that Illustrator CS6 users can Google-up any info about this Paste bug.  Unsurprisingly, CS6 is so new not many people have discovered the bug yet.  Even so, I have little doubt that as time goes on more and more will find this thread and seek some kind of relief, hoping to hear word about an Adobe acknowledgement the bug exists (which implies they are working on a fix).  Filing a bug report is the right thing to do, no question.  But I would like to encourage those of you who don't have this problem to please refrain from writing with a condenscening attitude when replying to people who have been bitten by this bug.  Adobe is a big company and they don't need the help of individual guru users to defend them.  Some people who experience bugs vent their distress in different ways. Sometimes it's best to just "listen" rather than brow-beat.  I try to do that myself in cases where someone reports a bug that I myself have not seen.  I feel their pain.
Best wishes to one and all.

    Dear All,
Can i post the cash sales invoice for the past date with the current document date.
I am facing some problem in report.
when i create the cash order i changed the pricing date and request deklivery dat to the past (the system allows me to do it), i saved the oreder the system had created the order number and generate the delivery number automatically in the back ground , then i vlo2n i change the actual PGI ,Planned PGI date, Loading date, Picking date as the past date say eg 09092009 document creation date is say today.when i did the PGI the system has posted the posting date as 090909.(fine).
while creating the billing document the system has taken the pricing date as past 090909 because as i changed the pricing in teh sles order when saving the billing document the system posted the accounting entry on 090909.(fine).
when i run the report MC2 and MCQ the system has not updated thesales figure happened for the cash sales,
But when i run the same scenario for the credit (standard sales ) the system has updated the sales figure in teh said report.

    Hi,
it looks you have missed some settings for the item category for cash sales in LIS.  Say you run the same scenario without taking the date in past but todays date, are you still facing the problem.
cross verify your settings in update control in Logistic data warehouse

  • Hp pavilion hpe h8-1070uk - cant boot past post screen - help!!!!!!

    Hello,
    Please help me HP!
I have a hp pavilion hpe h8-1070uk and recently upgraded the boot disk to a SSD and also installed Windows 8 64 pro. The system ran very well indeed.
After a few months of problem free usage, windows update said that Windows 8.1 was ready to install and all I need do is reboot to install it.
I selected to postpone the install for 4 hours and continued worrking away - I then went to bed and when I came back to the computer 6 or 7 hours later - the Win 8.1 install process was 52% completed but had hung...
On power cycling the system, the PC halts at the post delay screen and if I press Escape as the system boots, the screen shows 'start up menu' on the lower right of the screen (the post delay text remains unchanged) and the systems just hangs...
The lights and fan are on
The keyboard num lock key is on
No disk activity is shown (HD led, etc)
There are no errors displayed on screen or beeping sounds made
I have removed all usb devices and the HD (SSD) to see if this would at least allow the machine to boot and show a missing disk\OS message - this had no effect although the post screen does show a keyboard error - on replugging the keyboard (but not the SSD HD) the system still halts at the post screen with no error shown.
If you can please advise what I can do to resolve this problem - I really need to use the computer and can not see how it could have become damaged - Please, please help!!!

SUCCESS - at least for me (after already shopping on Amazon and Ebay for replacement motherboard).
After reading MANY posts about this in various forums, a common theme was removing hardware.  I tried that, and as OP had done, at one point I removed everything including cables from MB to front panel USB ports.
What worked was plugging in the old HDD I had cloned from a couple days ago.  Yes, this fixed a booting problem at the POST phase.  And I was able duplicate the works/doesn't work circumstances repeatedly after that.
If you haven't solved your problem (it's been a month), I would try a different HDD or putting a bootable DVD or attaching a bootable USB drive (of anything).  SOMETHING bootable for a confused boot loader to find (I suspect the boot loader on your HDD got corrupted when Win8.1 didn't install completely).
My setup was a Compaq Vision CQ2723w with Win7 and an EFI boot system.  Part of the boot loader resides in NVRAM (presumably on the MB).  Things worked fine until I got done setting everything up (including booting from F9 boot menu very often) and removed the thumb drive with a bootable Win7 Install on it and rebooted.  Based on what I saw later (bcdedit /enum firmware), there are many duplicate boot manager and USB HARD DISK entries.  There is even an entry from the Acronis loader used during disk cloning ... and neither disk was plugged in at the time.  Hence my belief that boot loader stuff is stored on the MB.  (Microsoft Tech blog talked about the firmware version, but didn't mention physical location).
    Long story getting longer ...
    I suspect
    (1) BIOS searches for bootable devices.  How else can it present a newly installed boot source (and it lists HDDs by model number) in the boot menu.
    (2) the thumb drive was causing "it's" boot manager settings to be first choice in the MB firmware.  When I could get into BIOS, I would put the EFI entry for USB HARD DISK after other EFI entries in the boot order.  Whenever I booted Win7 Install from the thumb drive, it would be back on top.
    (3) when I booted without the thumb drive installed, the overall boot process was "confused" or partially corrupt somewhere (like on the 250 GB Seagate HDD).  I would see 6 entries for "Windows Boot Manager" in the F9 boot menu.
    (4) When I put in the old 500 GB Seagate HDD, F9 Boot Menu and F10 Setup worked again.  Boot Manager would come back with "no system found" and I had to manually select the 500 GB Seagate from the F9 boot menu.  Once that happened, the default choice of Boot Manager in the startup menu worked again.  Did the HDD load "it's" boot manager settings at the top of the MB firmware????
At the end, with a "working" system, I replaced the HDD with a cloned SSD (the goal at the beginning of this journey), kept the bootable thumb drive in my pocket, booted from the SDD (listed in the F9 boot menu), and repeatedly booted.  A quick peek at the boot menu showed one of the Boot Manager(s) to be the default choice.
I still have multiple Boot Managers listed in the F9 Boot Menu.  "bcdedit /enum firmware" still shows a display order with four duplicates for <bootmgr> and six of the GUID associated with USB HARD DRIVE.  BUT THE SYSTEM BOOTS!!!!
Now, I just have make sure bootable USB drives do not come within 10 feet (and I'm hanging on to the original 500 MB Seagate that "fixes" the problem when its connected.
Hope this helps you or someone/somewhere/sometime to solve their problem or get one step closer to understanding how all this booting crap really works (or doesn't).

  • Switched CPU now MOBO doesn't Boot

I have an MSI 6378 Ver 3 Mobo. Up until this afternoon it worked great. It was running an XP1800+ CPU. I had someone at work who upgraded and gave me their XP2000+ cpu, so I figured, what the hell. I installed it, but the system would suddenly power down when it started to boot into windows. I would then have to remove all power from the system (disconnect the cord) before I could power it up. So I figured I got a bum CPU and put the old one in. With the old CPU the monitor won't come on, so I don't even know if it is getting to post or not. It sounds like things are spinning up, but I don't have any display. I have a seperate PCI video card, and I get a display with the bad CPU. Can anyone give me some suggestions what I did to my board? I really don't want to purchase  a new board/CPU/memory combo if I can avoid it.
    Thanks,
    Lee

    Hello,
You know that you only need a thin layer on the CPU DIE (thinner than paper).
And a small layer on the heatsink.
    What heatsink are you using?
    Why the XP1800+ wont post?
When you put the XP2000+ in the board runs the CPU at 1.667Ghz.
If you swap CPU's the board may try to run the XP1800+ at 1.667Ghz instead of 1.5Ghz and with the locked CPU's it will cause the PC not to POST.
So you should clear the cmos everytime you change CPU's.
What other components are you using and power supply?
Are you running the CPU at the correct speeds?

  • MSI 990XA-GD55 Mobo: Boots fine, no POST/chance to enter setup

So I have built my own setup here, been running it since May of this last year. I never thought about it until recently, but my computer has never done a POST, or shown me the screen that allows me to get to BIOS or Boot screens. The computer has been running fine, until recently (About a month ago or so) I will be playing any kind of game, and the computer just COMPLETELY crashes. No closing of the game and shutting itself down, no blue screens, just one second the comp is running, and the next it is shut down. So I did a stress test of CPU and GPU to see if they were just overheating or were on their way out the door... But both passed stress tests just fine. I then wanted to check my memory/BIOS, and this is where the no POST and setup screen "clicked" for me... I have been searching everywhere for info on this topic, and the best I can come up with is that there is a problem with my G Skill memory not being recognized? I have DDR3 1600 going, as it shows I can use up to at least 1866 without OC on this mobo. So I went to check what my BIOS said, went to owners manual to see how to get to it (As I never saw the screen where it asks you to press "Delete" or F11), yet in the manual, it says to look for exactly that. So I guess my MAIN question is... How do I get my computer to show me that screen on startup? I have read to reset the jumper to the 2-3 position for 15 seconds on the JBAT, and if that does not work, to pop out the CMOS battery... But wanted to get other opinions before I attempted such things. And in doing this, and possibly getting to the BIOS screen, will that even help me with my original problem of my computer all of a sudden crashing in prolonged "stress" situations? Ie, playing Lord of The Rings Online, I generally have to play for a few hours before it crashes as such. I tried to play Assassins Creed 3 today, and it crashed in the first 10 minutes. This led to my investigation into the GPU (As it only really occurs when playing video games). I was thinking the system was just overheating and auto turning itself off to protect, but after doing the stress tests, GPU stayed pretty stable at 80-85c over an hour, and CPU stayed below 76c on an hour stress test. I even did an hour PSU test, no crash... The only thing I can think would be memory.
I apologize for the multitude of questions and possibly incoherent order in which I wrote, but just trying to get as much pertinent info/process I went through as possible. Thanks in advance for any replies, and will be happy to give any extra info if needed!

EDIT: After looking through all the left over cases from items I purchased when building this comp, I realize I actually purchased 1866 DDR3, not 1600. But in looking at system properties here, it registers as 1600... But as I said before, I cannot access BIOS to adjust these values. Or maybe that is my problem in first place?

I was wondering about a good voltage for this setup, I think these two are running at 1.6V to start with... So going lower voltage would be ideal then, hmm? Less heat, less power consumption, and you do not have to worry about a decrease in performance? Especially if the latencies are lower, correct?
And I hate to say this, but I have had one of my first "noob" moments ever with this problem... It has been a few months since I took some compressed air to the mobo.. So went and bought some, blasted the heck outta the CPU/GPU/PSU, and the North/South bridges... Ran the same CPU stress test for twice as long, and it hovered at 41c, 42c was my max... *facepalm*. Before, it was even overclocking the CPU to 3.8GHz or so to work with the "data" it was running.. After compressed air, never really went above the 3.6 stock speed. I have never felt like such a goober!
As for the BIOS, turns out the F lock solved the problem, as the delete key is somehow considered a function key for this keyboard I guess. Was able to get into the BIOS, do some tweaking and all. Still nice to know that these newer systems dont beep anymore, and where to start pressing the delete key, instead of mashing it from boot!
Yet again, thanks for the tips, and this bit on memory/RAM is interesting, thank you for that input as well! I do not plan on upgrading the CPU any time soon, unless it is in a weakened state thanks to my neglect.. But I am still fuzzy on RAM details, so the mention of Latency/Voltage helped me in my upgrade search, thank you! If I am understanding it correctly, the 1866 will be future proofed, as well as having the ability for lower latencies compared to 1600? Does my system not go to 1866 because of the CPU or the mobo? As I thought the mobo supported up to 2133 OC.. So most likely the CPU, correct? I am looking at some Mushkin memory, if I get some 1866, I can lower its frequency to 1600, but decrease its latency in the process? ie getting some CL9, and lowering it to 1600 and CL8? How would I go about this, if you do not mind my asking? (If I understand correctly).
    Thanks again!
EDIT: I brought up the msi control center, and see that my RAM is actually running at ~1.5V. How can I see the latencies it is running at? It is rated at CL9 at 1866..
