Mocha AE CS5.5

Hi guys,
I downloaded Creative Suite 5.5 and I was going into the adobe ae folder when first of all it appeared as a regular blue mac folder than the fancy adobe ones such as photoshop and illustrator. Then when I opened it up and searched, I couldn't find ae at all except "mocha ae." I opened this app and it kinda looks like ae, but I want to know, what is the difference between mocha and ae, as I have still yet to find the actual ae software?

If you ran a legitimate installer then After Effects and the After Effects Render engine will be in the Adobe After Effects CS5 folder. If it is not there then double check the installer and run it again.
What OS by the way???

Mocha CS5 UI missing font?

Having a weird issue running Mocha under CS5. AE has the latest updates and OS is 10.6.7
Whenever I start the application, there are parts of the UI that look like gibberish, almost as if the font is replaced by tiny fractions or something. Obviously this makes navigating and using the application nearly impossible. AE CS4 is also installed on this machine and running fine. I have done a right click of Mocha to Show Package Contents and drilled down a few folders to find a folder called Fonts which in it included Frutiger 55 Roman and Blue Highway and both are installed.
Very confused here, can anyone give a suggestion please? I assume last resort is to reinstall the software, but I'd rather not also have to go along and relicense all my plugins as well. Thanks.

The last post suggests removing the Helvetica Fractions font, which is exactly what the problem was.

"Mocha for After Effects" included when you install Dreamweaver CS5

During installation of Adobe Master Collection CS5, I deselected everything except for Dreamweaver. After finishing, I had shortcuts for the following:
Adobe Device Central CS5
Adobe Dreamweaver CS5
Mocha for After Effects CS5
Adobe Help
(I believe Air is installed as well, but it appears to be required for Adobe Help?)
How did Mocha for After Effects and Adobe Device Central get installed?

Device Central and Mocha for After Effects are not main applications (those which are displayed on left side of Options dialog), rather they are termed as Shared Technologies which are used by multiple applications. Adobe Help is anyway installed even when a single application is installed, Device Central is installed as Dreamweaver has dependency on it. Mocha for After Effects should not be installed if Aftre Effects is deselcted, but it gets installed because of one deferred bug in CS5, you can see some unusable folders of Premiere Pro, Encore etc also even when they are not selected.

After Effects cs5 and Mocha

Today I just installed Adobe After Effects CS5, and when I opened up mocha for the first time, it prompted me with a message saying it was the first time i opened it, and something about setting it up with after effects. Of course i accidently clicked now, because my mouse likes to sometimes click for no reason and it closed before i got a chance to read the message. Im curious to what it said and it it impares my program perfermance since its not set up corretly. my question is, how do i get that message back, or can someone inform me as to what the message reads so i can set up all my programs correctly together. thank you

If you have installed the demo version, you won't be able to use it BTW. If you have a registered version, you already have the answer above

Have had no trouble since loading CS5 (which was difficult) for the last month or more. Today, PS 64-bit, LR 3, AE and Mocha for AE will not open. This worked for me: turn off User Account Control and then reboot.

Hi Mylenium,
I ran the Adobe Support Advisor and it came back without identifying any errors. However, when I closed the advisor this grayed out message come up:
"Creative Suite Product Install Inspector has identified the issue(s) that needs attention. An issue report has been generated. Adobe will use this issue report to helpaddress the issue(s) in the future."
I just spent 2 hrs with Adobe Tech Service and they could not identify a problem and suggested that I remove all 3 programs and reload. LR3 almost loads - it is in "Web" trying to open a flash gallery plug in when it fails. The other programs do not open at all...
I am going to remove and reinstall LR3 first and see what happens. Then I will (unless someone suggest something else), reinstall Windows 7. Reinstalling W7 was the only thing that worked for me when I initially installed CS5 for the first time...

Image Stabilization in CS5 (no Mercalli Support)

I have preordered CS5, and currently make use of the mercalli FX plugin to stabilize shaky video clips. It doesn't appear that mercalli will be compatible with CS5 for a while, is there some other plug in I can use to provide high quality image stabilization?
Has anyone used motion stabilization in After effects and compared it to what Mercalli does?
For now I guess I will stabilize clips in Premiere Elements, export them, then use the pre-stabilized clips in CS5 but that will get cumbersome fast.
Are there any really high quality motion stabilization plug ins that will be compatible with CS5? Has anyone here compared Mercalli to other solutions, and found one that's better?

Using the new version is far easier than the old, as you no longer have to select the best preset - the software now does this automatically in the initial analysis. It is still possible to tweak the various individual settings manually. With the old version you had to buy the expensive "Expert" version for this feature, but this time around there is only the one version - the expensive one of course!
As far as I know, the new version is available to existing users only, on special request. It is expected to be generally available at the end of this month, and the help files will be with it then.
You do have to watch for a number of potential pitfalls:
field order - Mercalli is not good at detecting this automatically when used as a Premiere plug-in;
treatment of borders - an inevitable consequence of all stabilisation is that the area of video moves within the frame, leaving blank areas at the edges. these vary from frame to frame and there are three alternative ways of handling this. the new version is less clear in this, to me at least. I normally zoom the video to eliminate the black borders.
transitions - if you apply Mercalli to a clip in your timeline and then apply transitions to the end(s) of the clip, the analysis will have to be done again, as you have introduced previously unconsidered areas to the clip. I normally apply Mercalli to the clip on a second timeline, render and export the clip, making sure that I include all the material that I may want to use, if I apply transitions. I generally apply colour correction, etc before exporting to avoid as far as possible quality loss due to repeat rendering. I usually apply 10% sharpen filter at this stage too. The new version offers a stand-alone version, which I like very much as it marks in red areas of the video in which extreme correction has to be applied, opening up scope for selecting the "less-unstable areas of video for use.
I have never used either After Effects or Mocha, but I have used all the other commercially available stabilisation software, and Mercalli gives by far the best results of the half dozen or so. I have tried the New Blue stabilisert, but I could not get on with it.Most of the others I have used are no longer available. You could try SteadyHand from Gooder Video.

Help, install issues CS5

Hi I am trying to reinstall CS5 master suit from original discs and I am repeatedly getting this:
I have uninstalled renamed folders ran the cleanup tool, changed the permissions etc. but still can't get it to run. Can a file be missing from the DVD?

Re-installing AE because Mocha won't open

In a Mac os 10.6.8 using CS5.5
I can't get Mocha to open, it crashes before opening up. I was told by Imagineer Systems to delete the mocha preferences but that did not work, so they suggested I re-install AE to load in Mocha again. I don't want to lose my presets and 3rd party plugins, scripts, and associated licenses etc.... I would like to know will the uninstall/reinstall overwrite these folders. Thanks in Advance

If you don't check "Delete Application Preferences" in the Uninstaller, everything should be left alone. If you don't want to take any chances, I'd recommend that you clone your boot drive with "Carbon Copy Cloner" before uninstalling, so you can undo that uninstall if you need to.

How to remove an object from its background with mocha

You can track things, create masks, export the masks, remove backgrounds, and do a bunch of really amazing things with the version of Mocha that comes with AE, you just can't drop a clip into the included version of Mocha and render out a composite. There are also other goodies in Mocha Pro.
I'd suggest that you go through a fist full of Mocha tutorials. There are a bunch of good ones on the Imagineer Systems site. Try filtering the results by Mocha AE.

Cant find Mocha shape import ability in AE 5.5

I have exported a rotoshape from Mocha for AE 2.6. I dont see any option to import that shape in AE 5.5. Promotional literature says that ability is included in AE CS5 (unlike CS3 where I had to purchase it as a seperate plug in from Imagineer). I thought it would be in the Import drop down, but I dont see it.

Is Premier Pro CS6 better to edit AVCHD than CS5?

I am presently at Creative Studio CS5 that I have used to edit DV with Premier Pro CS5 successfully. I also use other applications in Creative Studio and mocha Pro V3.
I upgraded to a hex core computer with SSD and 2 RAID HDs to decrease rendering times and better performance for AVCHD. Now that I have upgraded from DV to AVCHD, is upgrading to CS6 a better choice to edit AVCHD files?

I don't remember any performance difference between the two, but there are several feature differences that make CS6 a worthy upgrade. Specifically, Adjustment Layers first appeared in CS6. I'd hate to go back to editing without those.

Masks in CS5

Has anyone noticed a bug in CS5 where in spite of having the preference to preserve mask vertex count option checked, it is not doing it? I have triple checked having this preference set and I still find when I add a mask point that to a mask that I have animated, the vertex count is changing at every key. It is really frustrating.
Additionally, is AE ever going to catch up with every other software package and have point based feather control for masks? I really thought CS5 would have that. Instead the Mocha that ships with it has it, but when I am working in conjunction with the rotobrush I really need to have that control inside of the program. (if this has been added, someone please correct me and make my day )

If per-vertex feathering is important to you, should do two things:
- Enter a feature request.
- Check out PV Feather.
If you think that the preference for preserving the vertex count isn't working, please file a bug.

Soundbooth from CS5 installed with CS5.5 ok?

I installed CS5.5 with a clean installation (please note it runs MUCH faster and better with a fresh install of Windows), but I digress. I also want to use Soundbooth in addition to Audition, so I selected just the Soundbooth program from the CS5 install, but it installed Mocha, Soundbooth and flashed up on the screen it was installing media encoder, but I don't think it did. Anyway, the question is, is this ok to do, or is installing a CS5 application after CS5.5 is already installed going to mess anything up with my CS5.5 installation (i.e. overwrite newer files with older ones).

You should be OK, but there are occasionally problems with installing in that order. If you have any problems, you may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling in the other order---which doesn't take all that long. I'm not saying that you need to do that now; I'm just saying that it's something to try if you do encounter problems.
