Does anyone know of any official mock exams for the SQL Expert exam (1Z0-047)? All I can find are dodgy brain dump sites...
Also how realistic are the questions in the Master Exams that come with OCA Oracle Database SQL Certified Expert Exam Guide (Exam 1Z0-047) (Osborne Oracle Press Series) - Steve O'Hearn? The questions at the end of each chapter seem far too simple to me and are much easier than the 7 or so sample questions on the Oracle page for this exam. Any thoughts from those who have taken the exam and used this book?

( The questions the the end of the first few chapters are trivial ... they then become more relevant ).
Well I found the book helpful and from what I can remember the practice tests helped point some gaps I had.
Typically I think I find real exams sometimes need a bit longer than that on some of the practice tests.
I personally only use practice tests when i think i have learnt all material as a check to where i'm at and to identify gaps.
I will even leave the end of chapter tests under i think i have grasped everything.
And I will never take end of chapter tests if i have read that chapter earlier in the day!
( If i get tempted must take end of chapter tests early then i choose a reasonably meaty chapter about 1/3 into the book).
The book was enough for me .... but it may not be so for everyone ... we can be different and start from different places.
Someone mentioned they got rhu the test easily in an hour .... well i was pushing time the whole way through!

Hi Raghavendra, welcome to the forum!
I suggest you remove you email from your post to avoid recieveing undesired emails.
There are two OCA paths, OCA Developer or OCA DBA.
For both paths you need to take one of the following SQL exams:
1z0-007 Introduction to Oracle9i SQL (this is an outdated exam)
or
1z0-047 Oracle Database SQL Expert (more advanced exam recommended for developers/dbas with SQL experience)
or
1z0-051 Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I (recommended for beginners or people with average experience in SQL)
After passing one of these exams, if you want to take the OCA DBA path you need to do the:
1z0-052 Administration I exam
After passing one of the SQL exams, if you want to take the OCA Developer path you need one of the:
1z0-147 Program with PL/SQL (outdated exam)
or
1z0-144 Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL (more actual exam, recommended)

To be able to able to pass exam for Oracle Forms Developer, do I need to remember all those built-ins?

I don't know what kind of exam you are taking. But i guess making an exam for forms will involve knowing most of the built-in's.

But this explanation in my opinion is wrong as play(Object) would not satisfy MusicPlayer
interface. It would have to be play(Instrument) ... Am I right here ?

play(Object) WOULD satisfy the MusicPlayer interface, because Object is the super class of Instrument. The requirement for a class to implement an interface is that its parameter types be able to accept the types specified in the interface, and its return type be a type or subtype of the return type from the interface.
So technially, it should be instrument, BUT
It is perfectly valid to accept any super type of Instrument, which includes java.lang.Object. The point is that if I do this:
MusicPlayer musicPlayer = new MidiPlayer();
musicPlayer.play(new Guitar());This MUST be legal. Since MidiPlayer has a play operation that is void and accepts an Object (which a Guitar happens to be a subtype of), this is legal. The restriction is that the play method cannot take type Guitar, because not all Instruments are Guitars, and the play method cannot take String, for example, because an Instrument is not a String. But it can define a parameter of type Object, because all Instruments are Objects.

New Version of Mock Exam

The new version of my mock exam for the Java Programmer Certification is available at the URL that appears at the end of this post. 1 OCA (oracle certified associate) with 2 papers sql+fundamentals1
from whicjh fundamentals one include basic and architecture of oracle database, and SQL include use of SQL to acces database
2. OCP (oracle certified professional) OCA+ 2 papers fundamemtas2+performance tuning
from which funda2 include backup and recovery techniques and performance tuning include how to tune your oracle database for maximum performance... inspite of what i have told you above you can refer oracle site and better post this question on oracle "Certification" forum here....

I've also participated to several other exams, and I must admit that it is a long and hard process to get through. When I got the feedback 10 weeks after the beta period closure, I had to review nearly all the topics to get the exams passed the second time. But this it is a cheap and good exam preparation.
What about you Hussein? Do you think that's trivial?

yes, that's the only decent book covering most of the exam curiculum (but NOT all of it, check the exam specs versus the book content to know what you are missing).
I'm working on the same material, and boy is it a lot...
Dry, boring stuff most of it.

There is no certification exam as of now. However, Oracle University offers trainings on AIA both instructor-led and self-paced online. The Foundation Pack Training is especially useful and often required for any one working with AIA. You may access them at http://education.oracle.com.
