Mod_ssl and accelerator cards

As anyone configured mod_ssl to work with accelerator cards?
We are using 9iAS on Sun Solaris and wish to use an accelrator
card for SSL key manipulation.
A question for Oracle, if we replace the provided mod_ssl binary
with one we have compiled from the source available on the web
whatis the effect on Oracle support?

Mike Bray

Hi ibosie,
   I'm not sure exactly what you're asking but I don't think there's a required reference to anything you've mentioned. I keep my certs in my /System/Library/OpenSSL/certs directory but that's a matter of choice. As far as I know, all that matters is what file you provide as values of the SSLCertificateFile and SSLCertificateKeyFile properties in the VirtualHost block used to define your secure website in the httpd.conf file. (or file included from the httpd.conf file) Traditionally the SSLCertificateFile value points to a server.crt file and the SSLCertificateKeyFile value points to a server.key file.
   I don't what they're talking about in the security advise. The only file you have to protect is your private key; the rest you share freely. The private key should be in a directory owned by and readable only by root. However, that still has to be on the server.
   At least that's the way apache works traditionally. Maybe there's some way to keep the private key in a keychain. That would naturally be preferable; I just don't how to do it. Apple's web page, Creating Secure Transactions on Mac OS X server Using SSL, puts the key in a keychain but still uses a file for the web server.

  • Want to add Video and Graphic Card to my computer system

    I Notice that one of the users' in the Apple discussion Board is Listed, (AndyO) he has help me many times in the Past and was succesful in my problrm solution, would he might be able to help me with this?
    I had Purchased the Game Spore Creature Creator the Starter Kit which is just the Creature creator game and not the actual game itself. I wasn't able to install the the game on my computer because I don't have the right or not at all Video and Graphic Card install on my computer. I had Contacted the Company "EA" that puts out the Game Spore, this is what they said what the game requirements are: The minimum system requirements for Spore and Spore the Galactic Edition for Mac are as follows:
    * Mac OS X 10.5.3 Leopard or higher
    * Intel Core Duo Processor
    * 1024 MB RAM
    * At least 345 MB of hard drive space for installation, plus additional space for created creatures. (260 MB for the Trial Edition)
    * Video Card - ATI X1600 or NVidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100
    This game will not run on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Mac systems (PowerMac).
    For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least: an Intel Integrated Chipset GMA X3100 or Dual 2.0GHz CPUs, or 1.7GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
    Supported Video Cards
    ATI Radeon(TM) series
    * X1600, X1900, HD 2400, HD 2600
    NVIDIA GeForce series
    * 7300, 7600, 8600, 8800
    Intel(R) Extreme Graphics
    * GMA X3100
    and that I need to upgrade my system. Basically I need; ATI Radeon 1600 or NVIDIA Geforce 7300 and a INTEL Extreme Graphic Video Card-GMA X3100, in order to be able to install and play this game. Since I already have this game, I would like to be able to upgrade my computer system which brings me to ask; does somone know or refer me to a web site that has and sells these Video and Graphic Card and supports for the Mini Mac?
    Plus they say that I need a 1020 of MB of Ram, I Have already found that 1024 MB of Ram but I just need those Video and Graphic Cards for my computer system. I am adding my computer system Profile to my discussion board to show you what I have on my system, would you be able to tell me if I would be able to add these Video and Graphic card and the memory or Ram 1024 to my computer system?
    Note: Here is a web site that I am looking at to add the 1024 MB of Ram to my computer system:

    Hi Trisha,
    The only modern Mac's with video cards are the Mac Pro and Xserve (server) systems. They both are priced quite a bit higher than any Mac Mini.
    Some systems, like the Mac Book Pro laptop can be ordered with different graphics cards, but that has be done when the system is built, as it is not replaceable once the system is built. To find out which systems, go to store.apple.com. For each system that you select, you can see if there's an option for a better video card.

  • CS5 cannot support nVidia and ATI cards in same machine?

    Until recently, I was operating fine with a Radeon HD 5750 on dual monitors.  I wanted to add and utilize a third monitor (had some trouble with the DisplayPort output), so I just stuck in an off the shelf nVidia 8400 card.
    With the latest drivers on both, and both using OpenGL 3.2, CS5 seems to just freak out.  (The issue seems to be OpenGL centric.)
    Photoshop x86 just crashes while loading.
    Photoshop x64 will load, but it immediately reports that my cards do not support OpenGL acceleration and disables it.  It otherwise seems to work fine.
    After Effects will sort of run, but some strange things crash while it's loading (like gpu_sniffer.exe).  It crashes all the time during RAM previews, now, and the option to accelerate the GUI (or previews) with OpenGL is disabled.  So, while it's use-able, it's slow.
    Premiere Pro absolutely refuses to start.  I cannot even get a splash screen.
    (The other apps I do not use much.)
    I've gone back to dual monitor for now on the Radeon card (problems resolved with disabling the nVidia card), but do the CS5 apps really have that much trouble with two video cards with different chipsets?  Is there something I am forgetting to do?  I am not asking any of the apps to utilize the third monitor, so I cannot fathom what the issue is.  Again, the OpenGL version is the same on both cards...and both cards have the latest drivers (both from November).
    I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction or let me know what I should do to enable the nVidia card to peacefully co-exist and still be able to use OpenGL with the CS5 apps.
    Thanks for your help.
    Machine specs:
    * P43-based ASUS motherboard
    * Intel Core2Quad (each core at 2.8Ghz)
    * Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)
    * 16 GB DDR3 RAM
    * ATI Radeon HD 5750 (1GB)
    * nVidia 8400 GS (512MB)
    * CS5 Master Collection

    It's not that the apps don't support mixed cards - but that the OpenGL drivers for the cards do not work well together.
    Even mixing different models of cards from the same vendor can run into problems when using OpenGL.
    Some apps have made mixed cards work - by using one GPU and completely ignoring the rest.
    We've talked to the GPU vendors to see about improving the situation, but, well, they're competitors.

  • Can you help with Tiger Issues with sonnet accelerator card

    I am working on a G4 Quicksilver with a sonnet 1200/2M accelerator card. The system will not do software updates any more and Safari beachballs when your move from the start page to another URL. I have tried to install the original software but it refuses to complete the process. It begins to verify the disk then stops and says to try again.
    Any ideas?
    G4 Quicksilver   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi justyouraveragemacguy;
    One of the other things I discovered about Norton Utilities before I gave them up for good was the fact that it is capable of making changes to your disk without even letting you know that it is going to do it. Once it had done that to the four disks on my system, they were so corrupt that I couldn't do anything with them at all.
    I called Symantec and verified that I had the correct version for the version of operating system I was running. Once that had been established they instructed me to get rid of all the disks because they were bad.
    Not being able to accept that all four disk would go bad in exactly the same way at the same time, I started reading about Norton Utilities here at this forum. It was suggested that I use DiskWarrior to repair the damage Norton had done. It took DW well over a day to repair my disks but it was able to return the disks to service, one of which I am still using to this day.

  • EP6.0 SP15 SSL Accelerator card setup

    Hi
    SAP support the use of SSL Accelerator cards as per OSS Note 686293.  However, I can find no details on the configuration of how to set them up for the use with the SAP web server used in the SAP Portal.  The products appear to provide support out of the box for mainstream we servers (MS IIS, Apache etc) but don't indicate how they need to be configured to be used with SAP.
    Can anyone assist?  They're Cavium SSL Accelerator cards.
    Regards
    David

    Just got the bad news from SAP Support.
    Although the note indicates that EP6.0 supports the use of hw SSL accelerator cards - the note itself is "misleading".  The SSL Provider is part of the SAP sw shipment and there is no SAP ICC partner interface to certify the integration of SSL accelerators.  The only SAP solution for EP6.0 at this time is to use them in a SSL Reverse Proxy infont of the portal solution to offload the overhead of SSL before it hits the portal.  The reason I'm not using Webdispatcher is that I'm also trying to fulfill a requirement for standalone ITS on these same servers. Needless to say there are no dates set for when SSL Accelerator cards can be used with Netweaver stack DIRECTLY!!.
    SAP support message below for completeness (from SAP AG Developement Manager so can be taken as gospel) - hope it saves someone else time if thinking of going down this route.   <u>Please post reward points if you have found this information useful!</u>
    SAP Note 686293 is misleading. All releases of EP 6.0 do not support
    SSL hardware accelerators.
    The SSL provider is part of the SAP shipment and there is no SAP ICC
    partner interface to certify the integration of SSL accelerators.
    If you realy require SSL hardware accelerators you should use a
    standalone solution (SSL reverse proxy) to terminate the SSL connection
    in front of the EP system.

  • Satellite Pro A300 PSAGDA-02000R CPU and video card chipset mismatch

    can anyone help me with the specs on this laptop.
    When I look at the official toshiba brochure for this product it mentions that the CPU Chipset is
    "Mobile Intel 965PM Express Chipset"
    but the second video card says
    "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator GM45"
    Which is correct because what I've read on the intel website, the GMA X3100 is used on the mobile 965PM Express Chipset.
    Any help will be much appreciated.

    To be honest this unit is not known to me but I know that some other Satellite Pro A300 supports other chipsets;
    For example:
    SATELLITE PRO A300 PSAJ1E-005008BT supports Intel GM965 chipset and Intel GM965 graphic chip
    SATELLITE PRO A300 PSAJ5E-001001GR supports Intel PM965 chipset and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
    SATELLITE PRO A300-1E7 PSAGDE-003003EN supports Intel Mobile PM45 Express Chipset and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
    SATELLITE PRO A300-1HF PSAG1E-00K00SIT supports Intel GM965 and Intel GM965 graphic chip as well.
    SATELLITE PRO A300-21B PSAGDE-01S007A3 supports Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470.
    As you see there are many different notebook models with completely different hardware components
    I googled too and it seems that the Satellite Pro A300 PSAGDA-02000R supports Mobile Intel 965PM Express chipset and graphic card ATI Mobility Radion, HD 3650 with 512MB + Intel Graphics Media Accelerator GM45.

  • 3d hardware accelerator card.

    I want to know if you can put a 3d hardware accelerator card in a laptop ......L305-s5919   to bust the grapghics in it for a game..........   it can be 2600-4890 its for ATI REDEON HD   the other type can be  NVIDIA GEFORCE 250-9800     will one of these will help alot for it can you help to find wich one and i need to know if it can work on a laptop. thank you.

    Nope.  The graphics are soldered onto the motherboard and are not upgradable.  You'll need to purchase different laptop with better graphics to do what you want.
    Only a few high end (as in $2000) laptops have upgradable graphics cards in them.
    If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Apple G4 Quicksilver CPU Acceleration cards - real 4x cpu power gain???

    Hi there,
    I have got a Quicksilver 2002 G4 (single CPU 800 MHZ)
    and am looking into dual acceleration cards:
    SONNET ENCORE ST 4 (DUAL 1.8GHZ G4)
    and
    GIGA DESIGNS G-celerator (DUAL 7447A G4 1.8GHz ).
    Will you get a real 4x cpu power gain and cut your render time when using software like MAYA/FINAL CUT/AFTER EFFETCS that offer multi cpu rendering?
    Many thanks.
    All the best,
    CF

    Hi CF,
    I'm contemplating a similar upgrade, for similar reasons. Please post back with any success/failure/info.
    Here's a link or at least an address to a site (that I have no affiliation with, but have been a satisfied customer of) that sells upgrade procs here in the US. This should take you to their Benchmark Compare-O-mat-o-rator:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/benchmark/
    It shows various stock G4s vs. Single and Dual Upgrade Processors under several different tests (gaming/rendering/photoshopping etc.).

  • The Crew –Racing with Your Coolest MSI Gaming Motherboard and Graphics Card

    Most gaming fans are crazy about racing games, and there is a new game title just launched to fulfill gamers’ dream. We want to share with you the experience from Taiwan user who assembles a rig with a brand new MSI Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard and 960 graphics card, along with a hardware and game (The Crew) benchmarks. You may find the original article from:

    The Crew - Launch Trailer
    PC configuration:
    CPU: Intel i5-4670K
    RAM: Avexir DDR3-1600 8G*2
    VGA: MSI GTX960 GAMING 2G
    SSD: Kingston HyberX 3K SSD 240G
    CPU Cooler: SilverStone AR01
    The MSI Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard box
    Overview of the motherboard: Black and Red color scheme, it’s also the favorite color combination from MSI’s user reservation.
    The PCI-E slots and bandwidth are enough for a two-way SLI setting.
    Killer Ethernet, outstanding performance on internet access, especially reduce the lag issue.
    The new arrival MSI GTX960 GAMING 2G graphics card
    New cooling design: ZeroFrozr
    The dragon symbol on LED panel
    With MSI Gaming series motherboard plus graphics card, you can enable a Gaming App to overclock CPU and GPU. There are 3 modes to choose.
    6-month free trail of the XSplit game caster software, free bundled with MSI gaming motherboard and graphics card
    Done with assembling, quiet nice color combination and clean cable arrangement.
    An overview of the very gaming look system.
    Some benchmark results before racing with The Crew.
    CPU and GPU info on CPU-Z and GPU-Z applications:
    3DMark Fire Strike score: 6441
    3DMark Fire Strike Extreme score: 3384
    3DMark Fire Strike Ultra score:1262
    The excel performance proof the brand new 960 graphics card comes with good a high Cost/Performance Value.
    Now, check out this test benchmark score of the renowned game “The Crew”.
    The game presents an ultra-quality display, 60 Frames Per Second (FPS)
    FPS: Average frames is at:
    Frames: 3859 - Time: 76828ms - Avg: 50.229 - Min: 43 - Max: 56
    The comments of the game for your reference:
    There are many types of missions that can be chosen from the America’s map.
    Street racing, high-speed collision, breakaway from police, sky jumps, zigzagging, etc… make the game quite dynamic.
    Now, when it comes to multi-player matches, the performance has exceeded expectations. Perhaps, it is the killer Ethernet that’s working the magic. Thus, this game is highly recommended if you have the right rig.
    The downside is that the display intricacy is not as refined as GTA V and in addition, the game FPS is limited at 60 FPS. However, the overall gaming flow and performance is better than good.
    The user's comment for using MSI Gaming 5 motherboard and 960 graphics card:
    (The following commends are translated from user’s article, does not represent the viewpoint of MSI) ^^
    Recently, MSI GTX 960 just launched so the initial price tag is still adjustable.
    According to the current product line, it seems like this GPU is going to replace 750Ti. So once all the stocks (750Ti) at the store empties, we are most likely to see a price drop on GTX960.
    Once the price hits the sweet spot, it’s time to try out GTX960 SLI’s performance.
    The CP value on MSI GTX960 and GAMING 5 MB is pretty high. But the XSplit software that comes with the product is a bit annoying since the authentication steps are divided into 2 parts to go through for using it.
    Enough said, anyways, GAME ON!

    NVIDIA 960 card  + GAMING 5 motherboard = best bundle for budget gaming!
    it would be nice to see more testing of hardware-demanding games!

  • Processor and graphics card upgrade for hp dc5100 MT(EF633US)

    Can someone kindly tell me a variety of Intel processors and graphic cards which i can install in my pc coz right now i'm using Intel pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz and Intel 82915G/GV/910GL express chipset. but i would like to upgrade to a faster processor and a graphics card which can play games which require large graphic memory (eg FIFA 2013,GTA 5.etc)

    Hi:
    Personally, I wouldn't invest the money to upgrade that PC.
    You would be better off getting an off lease newer dc5800 MT or dc7800/dc7900 model that has a PCIe x16 video slot.
    The killer for your model is you can only install a PCI graphics card.
    Very inefficient and pretty expensive for what you get in return.
    After you install the required microcode update, the best processor I know for sure you can install would be the P4 650.
    Below is the link to the quickspecs.  The supported processors are listed on page 7.
    I do not know of anyone who that has installed the 651 or 661 processors and got them to work--even though the specs state they are supported.
    You can try the 651 or 661 and if you do, please let me know if they worked for you.

  • PSU and Video card upgrade for HP e9280t

    Hello, I wanted to upgrade my PSU and video card. The PSU I would like to get is the SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096&Tpk=17-151-096) but I wasn't sure if my computer could handle and hold the PSU. The video card I would like to get is the EVGA 01G-P3-1561-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130604) but im not sure if my computer can handle this too. I have a HP Pavilion Elite e9280t CTO Desktop PC (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4066665) can someone please tell me if I can upgrade to the PSU and Video card?

    Stuart, welcome to the forum.
    The truth is, any video card that will run properly with the 300W PSU in the computer, will not be much better than the integrated video.  Most newer mid-level cards require a PSU with a minimum of 400W watts.  I have searched for other members many times without any luck.  If you want to upgrade the PSU, it will give you far more options.

  • J2me and java card, need help to communicate

    we are trying to put together a reader to read smartcards using j2me and we figure that it would be easiest if we could develop it to work with java cards rather than standard smart cards, the problem is we get garbage when we communicate to it, the chip sends us crap, any suggestions what might be wrong, any calls we might be missing, has anyone worked with j2me and java cards or smart cards, any help would be appreciated.

    .... reader app and the ME behind it .... smells like mobile ....
    First of all - if you want to have one mobile application running on this just make sure that whatever is written in ME can use drivers from the reader chip ....
    Workin on the PC is something completely different. There was one good example how to develop one host application in Java provided with the JCOP tools long ago ... I don't know if this is now in the new Eclipse tools.
    But - there was a small API provided that can give you good hints what to do - and - once you have it on the reader side - you can easily integrate ME methods with this ...

    It asked me that too.Don't worry and just put it in. Itunes doesn't charge unless your son buys something. The password happens to me all the time. Credit card was only once. Just make sure your son knows not to buy anything without permission so he doesn't accidently charge you something.

    I stopped using iCloud after another family member received all my contacts. Now I want to restart using iCloud. How do I prevent this happening again? We share the same Apple id password and credit card but different usernames.

    If two of you shared the same contacts you were logged in with the same Apple ID. In order to avoid this you need to use different Apple IDs, and be using separate Macs or separate user accounts on the same Mac.
    One or other of you should create a new Apple ID at http://appleid.apple.com for which you will need a non-Apple email address which hasn't been associated with another Apple ID.
