Model 50L1350U Horizontal Lines

Hello,
I have a Model 50L1350U LCD TV that is just over 1 year old (and out of warranty, of course) and am experiencing horizontal lines on the bottom 1/4 of the screen.  After going through the diognostics tests listed on-line, I still have this issue.  I then installed the latest firmware and still have the problem.  After this, I called tech support and they informed me that for $35 I can have them do a diognostic test that will determine the problem.  Then, I can take it to an "authorized repair" shop for repairs??? Where they will do the same diognostic test?!?!  The repairs for the LCD (which it probably is) will probably cost as much as the TV itself!!!
I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the quality of this TV and feel that it is very crappy to have a TV that is practically new fail.  My experience with this company has jaded me from ever purchasing another Toshiba product again!!!
Sincerely,
Upset Consumer

My TV experienced the same problem about two weeks ago...after warranty. I used my Visa Card to purchase it and they extend the manufactures warranty an additional year. I called the customer service number on the back of my card and they gave me a warranty number to call. I had to provide a copy of the original sales slip, copy of the Visa statement showing the purchase (my Visa provider, Chase, has five years of statements online) and a copy of the manufactures warranty (you can get this online if you no longer have it.) I emailed all of this to them and they emailed me a one page form to sign and return.
I had an onsite service call which I paid for. The technician said it was the display screen and they would email me a repair estimate. The estimate was for way more than the original purchase price. I emailed it to the warranty company and followed up with a phone call. The underwriters will review and indicated if the repair price is close to or greater than the original price they would probably have me purchase a new TV. I have not heard the final reply from the underwriters yet but it looks like I will probably get a new TV.
Hope this solution may work for you also.

  • Horizontal lines on flatbed scan Model G4050

My HP G4050 flatbed scanner makes random horizontal lines in scans, as well as slightly doubled (blurred) images--as if the camera had moved slightly during a longer exposure.   This just suddenly started happening.  Every scan has a different configuration of lines--there is no pattern to it.  What is causing this---and can I fix it?

    Hello Helephant,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand your Scanjet G4050 will scan, how ever it will leave lines in the document. You could, if not already, clean the glass and backing plate of the scanner. Since you mentioned it is not a common spot the lines present them self, it may not help. Scanned Image is Fuzzy.
An update may also help, "Dust and Scratch Removal" or "6-Color Scanning" options do not work in Windows.
I hope those suggestions have helped.

  • Hp 2711x Monitor: Flickering red horizontal lines, dots, shapes

I'm not sure if I have two seperate problems or if they are the same problem. But lately my monitor has many red horizontal lines or red dots, or random red shapes on screen that flicker slightly. They only appear on parts of the screen that are dsplaying either black or any dark colors. Any part of the screen displaying white will have no lines at all. The problem will go away temporarily if I shut off the monitor for a while.
Also before it begins doing this, and during, the entire screen will go bank for about 1-2 seconds and then come back. It never gives an error message when it is blank. I run a dual monitor set up with my laptop display and the monitor and the lines only appear on the monitor, not the laptop display.
I have the most current drivers for the monitor installed.
The computer is a Clevo W110ER with i7 3630QM  2.4 Ghz and a 2 GB video card, running Windows 8.

thin horizontal lines appear occasionally across window of firefox, if i switch to finder, not there. appears to stay with windows of different programs.
lately above the keyboard along back edge in the middle under monitor gets very hot almost to hot to touch, uncomfortable on lap.
i have no idea what the memory cards are. some have suggested i should replace memory cards?

I don't really know about the new models as far as typical operating temperatures. The ones you mention are not meaningfully high to me. My 2011 13" MBP with an i5 CPU typically idles near 50º C.
As for the speed issue that is hard to evaluate on the basis of personal opinion. You can download and run GeekBench benchmarks and compare the results to those reported for the same model configuration. You can use CineBench to benchmark video performance.

  • Help! N95 8GB Horizontal Lines on LCD Screen getti...

I was getting a few horizontal lines across my screen of my N95 8GB. Switching the slider from portrait to landscape doesn't change the direction of the lines.
The lines have been getting progressively thicker to the point where now it's hard to read anything on the phone.
Do I have a dying screen?
I've take the slider apart, detached and reattached the screen and ribbon cable connector, and it doesn't make any difference.
Should I buy a replacement screen or is there something else that could be wrong? The rest of the phone functions perfectly fine.

    Hi calciumicon,
It would probably be best to have your device checked by a Nokia Care point. From what you describe it might be the screen needs to be replace. The N95 is a model which has been out of production for a while though so check to verify it can still be repaired.

  • Final Cut Pro X is exporting video with horizontal lines?

I filmed a show with 2 different cameras (one is a canon vixia, the other is a canon dos 7D, i realize the quality is different for them) and I used the multi cam editor to match h up the clips and audio file to switch back and forth. I think i created proxy media to use for the multi cam clip. Whenever i export my movie, the movie plays with horizontal lines, and whenever there is faster motion, the person gets blurred. What is making final cut pro x export like this? How do I fix this? I've tried exporting with Apple ProRes 422, Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy), and H.264, but all video files have the lines going through it and the motion is a bit blurry. Please help me!!

There are quite a few Vixia models from Canon; which is yours?
Without looking at the image, it's not certain, but your description sounds like interlaced footage displayed on a computer. The 7D only shoots progressive, so it's possible your other cam was set to record interlaced. If your first clip placed on the timeline was an interlaced clip, FCP would automatically set the project to interlaced.
In a addition to your model #, what would be useful is to select one of the Vixia clips in the browser and then to take a screen shot of the top  part of the Info pane.

  • HT201177 I have a horizontal line in the bottom 1/3 of my screen display that I can't get rid of

I can't seem to get rid of this black horizontal line in the bottom 1/3 of my display its there in all applications and there appears to be a shadow bar behind it? any help would be appreciated

What model iMac? This forum covers three different variants made before 2006. They have different display technologies.
Doing "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and posting the info found there for your processor type is a good start. If that shows you have an Intel processor, those iMacs are different enough to have a separate forum here:

  • CC 3D text + postcard problem! horizontal line after render!

    Hi.
I tried to make a 3D text, using a 3D text with a background postcard layer. I merge the two layers and then render it. But during the rendering process i get a horizontal line of light and shadow in the center of the finished layer.
    like this http://oi61.tinypic.com/5wl35x.jpg
A friend has send me a PS file and told me to check it out. I played around with it and I've found out that when i use his postcard layer (so the one in the file he send me) and merged it with a 3D object, it turns out fine. Without the line. But as soon as i make my own postcard layer and use that one, i get the bug again.
The line is always in the center and horizontal, no matter where my 3D object is placed.
I checked on the basic 3D settings of the postcard layer, compared his to mine and couldn't find any differences. My PC is new and very powerful, it also can't be my GPU, since it turns out fine when i use his postcard layer.
I also tried resetting the presets by removing that file from the folder in appdata, but it didn't fix my problem.
Please someone help me! I bought a PC just to learn 3D work and it's very frustrating and discouraging  to be stuck at the beginning like that.

    Hi SG,
I dont know how to move the mesh and camera, but i did change the Ground Plane Shadow opacity to 0% and it did get rid of the line, even tho the final product looked different. The background got a lot brighter, which is probably easy fixable/adjustable.

The tutorial you linked is really nice and I will definitely try it out, but it's not the same. The shadows are on the "ground" below the 3D Text. In my linked tutorial the shadows are on the "wall" behind the 3D Text. Sorry to be so picky right now, I really want this bug to be gone and it's such a strange bug, when other peoples postcardlayers work on my rig, but my own won't. I'm a beginner and I don't even know what else you can do with a postcard layer, but I know I will need it at some point.
I also appreciate your guys help so far. You are investing your time and thoughts and all that for free. Thank you.
edit: here is the difference between using my friends postcardlayer vs using my own, but turning the Ground Plane Shadow opacity to 0%.
    http://oi59.tinypic.com/2ic5d08.jpg
    http://oi62.tinypic.com/2aipjl0.jpg
the shadow position is slightly different and the proper version has some lighting(?) on top. The proper versions shadows and lighting look more dynamic/alive(?). I don't know the right terms. To be honest, I would properly be just as picky if it was the other way around :/
edit: I just tried out turning up the Ground Plane Reflections (while shadows on 0%) just to see what it does and it brought the line back.

  • Missing horizontal lines

Very often when printing pdf files from Preview on my iBook G4 with OS X 10.5.5, thin horizontal lines do not appear on the printout. This has even happened with the crosses in the letters t and f. I am printing to a Dell printer that doesn't seem to have many identifying features. The driver I am using is the Lexmark T634. The problem does not seem to occur when printing from Acrobat. Thanx.

I just got a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.5.6, and I am having similar problems with horizontal lines disappearing on a Dell printer (model 3110cn in my case). The disappearing lines occur in a variety of places, the bar in a vertical fraction, the overbar on square roots, or even a long horizontal rule at the top of the page.
I am actually generating my text using LaTeX, which can optionally produce an intermediate PostScript file. The fact that there is an intermediate PostScript file does not change the fact that the lines are visible in the PDF file, as displayed in Preview, but they are often missing in the printout. Even more mysterious, a certain document has missing lines on page 2 of a 12 page document. If I print only the first two pages, the lines are present in the printout, but if I print the whole document, the ones on page 2 are gone. As with your case, printing from Adobe Reader works fine. Also, because I have an intermediate PostScript representation of the data, I can send that directly to the printer, and it prints fine.
I am assuming that Adobe Reader includes a fair amount of code that duplicates what Apple's internal code does, and that is why Adobe Reader prints all right.

  • White horizontal lines only in Magenta solid print area.

When printing a solid magenta there are white horizontal lines.
I have cleaned the print head to level three with no positive results.
    What can be done?
The other three colors print perfectly.

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model?  Are there any error messages on the printer or computer screen?  Are the lines spaced regurlarily or randomly?
A pattern of regular repeating lines would generally be the result of an electrical issue between the printer and printhead.  Cleaning the contacts in both the cartridge and printer as shown in the document here may help resolve the issue.

  • L655D-S5055 LCD horizontal line issue - possible motherboard or GPU failing??

    Hello,
A few weeks ago a horizontal line running from the left edge to the right edge of the LCD about 2 1/4"
from the bottom of the LCD started to occur.  The line shows up from the time the screen turns on
and remains in CMOS or the Win 7 desktop.  I have replaced the LCD panel with a new OEM LCD
panel, this did not resolve the issue.  I replaced the internal video cable, this did not resolve the issue.
Since the line occurs in the CMOS screen (DOS prompt screen) or in Win7, there is not video driver
issue I believe.  I also updated the L655D BIOS to the latest v2.10  Nothing has resolved the issue.
Is this possibly a sign of a GPU issue at the motherboard level? I have noted that the space below the line does "flicker" or distort the image, but only below the line.  The rest of the image on the screen stays without any problem.  I have also attached the laptop to an external monitor which has no line like this or any issues with the display at all.  Thus the reason I had originally concluded the LCD panel and internal
    video cable.
Does anyone know if this is a known problem with specific motherboards with this model laptop, or GPUs?
Is there a replacement motherboard program for this laptop as this is certainly a quality issue that should
not be left for the enduser to replace the motherboard and be charged a high cost repair such as this!
I appreciate any guidance or advice on this issue.  I have attached two pictures for reference of this problem.
One shows the line in a Command prompt screen, the other while in Win 7.
[Updated: 2-Apr-2013]  based on further research and experience with other similar issues, I am beginning to think this is related to heat and the GPU impacted by poor quality soldering or some other issue of that nature.  I have performed "reballing" with other products, but am not sure about whether this issue can be resolved or how to go about an effective "reball" for this product motherboard.  A replacement, used motherboard is hard to find and if found are over $150USD.  Again, it seems unfair to the consumer to have a laptop like this for 4 years and need to replace the motherboard or live with this issue until the unit fails completely.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Horizontal Lines on 30" Apple Display (pics included)

Over the last month (or maybe longer... a while anyway) I've had intermittent issues with horizontal lines appearing on windows. Take a look at the pictures.

The lines don't cross window boundaries and generally go away when the window is expanded, but may return if the window is repositioned to its exact former position. So it's weird, whatever is rendering the window seems to be adding glitches in.
I have 2 monitors attached, and I don't see the issue on my crappy 15" emachines monitor, just on the 30" apple monitor.
I don't think it's a ram issue, because I have a pretty fair amount of ram, and the issue happens regardless of the number of windows or applications I have open. I have a video card that's an upgrade from the default spec.
I can live with the issue but it's pretty annoying, and any help or suggestions you have would be great.
Oh, and the lines don't go away just when they're covered up. The window size has to actually change. Sometimes the lines show up over the desktop image and there's no way of getting rid of that short of restarting.
    Message was edited by: mahuti

My computer had these lines & kept crashing, and it only got worse under Leopard. It became unusable. Being fed up, I pulled the video card out, and swapped it with the same model from a quad 2x3ghz machine and it started working perfectly. What's more, the old card was CHOKED with dust... you couldn't even see the intake vents there was so much dust. I blew all of the dust off with compressed air, stuck it in the quad 2x3gh machine, and that one is running right as rain (for now) and my machine is working perfectly now too.
So either 1. it was just due to an overheating issue with the video card (ATI 1900) or
    2. There was some minor, minor difference between compatibility of the cards with my machine. Maybe one revision didn't like the dual 2x3ghz.
My guess is that it's due to #1. At the very least, putting a new video card in should hopefully fix the problem for anyone else plagued by this.

  • HT2807 why is there a horizontal line across my imac screen?

why is there a horizontal line across my imac screen?

Not sure exactly which model your iMac is..?
see > How to identify iMac models
Sadly display lines generally indicate a problem with either the Display or the Graphic's Chip.
To check, take a screen shot of the display using the (Command Shift 3) keys and open it.
If the line is only seen on the Display and not in a screen shot, then it would most likely indicate a Display problem.
If the line shows up in a screen shot, then it would most likely indicate a Graphic's Ciip problem.

    hi angryone.
usually green lines points that you are having ram or graphic card ( could be also converter cable issue )
can you check if your ram sticks working fine? you can also try to remove/replace?swap the ram sticks and use one of each time to check if it is ram issue.
if it doesn't help, i'm sorry to say that but you will need hardware support so i suggest you to contact lenovo support line.
