    I have a Wireless-G Model WRT54GS V7.50.0 Firmware for easylink Advisor 1.5.1044
Connected to a highspeed connection, and then connected (Hardwired in port 1 of router) to a Dell system running XP SP3.
I bought a new Laptop that is running Windows 7 and the laptop causes the connections to drop when it is powered on.
Then the laptop is always dropping the connection and re-establishing the connection. Is this problem because of windows 7?
If I do not bring the laptop up, i can run the desktop with no problem. Running WPA security mode.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
    John

Is your Desktop computer is a Wired or Wireless? Are you facing the problem only on your Windows 7 Computer or on all the wireless computers?
You can try to change the Wireless Settings on your Router and check if that makes any difference...
Login to the setup page of your Router and click on the Wireless tab.... and below change the Wireless Channel to 11-2.462GHz and click on Save settings.... Then click on the Sub tab "Advance Wireless Settings" and below Change the Beacon Interval to 50 .....Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 ....Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Hi, I have a wireless linksys router model WRT54G. what i...

Hi, I have a wireless linksys router model WRT54G. what i want to do it´s configure a network in my home. I have 2 pc´s, a laptop an a desktop. what I should do to be able to share files, music, videos. between both computers? the laptop has Windows Vista, the desktop has Windows XP Professional. could you give me more details? step by step.   thank you really much.

its really simple to set up a network, first make sure that all computers are in the same workgroup by right clicking on my computer, then properities, then computer name.
there you can make the setting for the work group
do not use the default one, create your own, do this for each computer.
next thing is to choose any folder that you want to share and right click on it, select sharing, then check the two boxes to share this folder and the other one to allow others to make changes to this folder.
doing this bypasses the trouble od setting up passwords for right now.
you should not have the network up and running with folders being shared with all in that workgroup.
you may want to check the manual for vesta as it may do things a bit differant that xp
you could also run the create a network wizard in the xp system.

  • Problem setting up model WRT54G

I am having difficulty in setting up my Wireless -G Broadband router model #WRT54G.  I Have Comcast High-Speed Cable Internet.  My internet connection times out after a few minutes and my connection is lost after a successful configuration of the router.

Try MAC address cloning, and see if this corrects your problem.

  • Model WRT54GS v.6 Acting Strange

    I use a Wirless-G Broadband Router Model WRT54GS V.6
Well, I got it configured and everything for a DSL connection, and it connects normally.  Then, it randomly just stops working and when I remove the Ethernet cable and blue plug from the router, it seems to be working again.
Now, when I put the connection back in, it does the same thing.  The router's lights start blinking and on the computer it would have "Internet Connection Complete" then go to "Local Area Connection Unplugged" and it would keep going in that cycle.

  • Model WRT54GS Wired Connection

Model WRT54GS but i have my xbox 360 connected to it by a ethernet cable. i also set the port range and set a IP manually to the 360. I'm still getting strict Nat. Also, i have DSL Internet and i set the port range and firewall to the 360 IP on the DSL Modem. Wen I made the port range settings it was saying open Nat,A Day later it goes back to strict. i rechecked the port range settings and they are still set. I also have a PS3 connected wireless to the router, i set the port range for it as well. I've had no problems with the ps3 only the 360. Made sure IP are different. Help?

Ya i forgot to mention I put the DMZ to the PS3 and it makes it Type 2 NAT but wen i take it off the PS3 it goes to Type 3(type 2-router connection open NAT Type 3-Router Connection Strict NAT). But when i put it to the 360 it still says Strict NAT. I have the IP addresses= PS3(192.168.1.15) 360(192.168.1.115). After reading your post I updated the Firmware but has not fixed problem yet

  • Wireless-G Broad band Router Model wrt54g

Just bought a new lap top.  I already have to computers at home that I have connected via the wireless router. Have been setup and working fine for years.  Was told all I had to do was connect my laptop to the same network.  Tried and it finds the linksyshome network but then asks me for a password or security phrase which I have no idea what it is.  I tried using admin and it connects to the network but states I do not have inernet access with this connect because of security phrase.  Is there anyway I can reset my security phrase to something I remember?  Please answer in laymans terms because I dont understand alot about this whole process.

You must get into the settings of the router. If you have not set up a password for the router you can get into it by using the default password. First connect to the router with a wire. Once wired to the router then type in 192.168.1.1 into your web browser and it will prompt you for a user name and password. The default is blank for the username and admin for the password. Once in the web browser go to the wireless tab and security and setup the passphrase. Once you install the passphrase you can then logon to you network.
If you are unable to get into your router with the default password and you cant remember the password you put in at setup, then you can push the reset button for 30 seconds on the back of the router. Reboot, and this will restore everything to default. You will then have to repeat steps above and reset security, ssid and mac filtering.

  • WAP Key Issue -- Model WRT54G

Hey guys. Here is the deal. I just moved in with a couple of roommates. The guy that was living in my room before I left put together the wireless network. The guy left on bad terms with the other roommates. So, what is going on now is we have no idea what the WAP key is and the settings have been changed for the default login for the website login. Is there anyway to find out what the WAP key is still or do we need to go out and get a new router? Thanks for your time.

If you can access the router's setup pages (usually at 192.168.1.1 ), then you can go to the wireless security section, in the router, and look up the WPA encryption key.
If the router's setup pages are password protected (the default is "admin"  (with no quotes) ) ,  and you cannot get into the router, then the only thing you can do is reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.

  • NEED HELP WITH MY LYNCSIS MODEM MODEL WRT54GS

I moved and cannot find my all my information in regards to my modem.  I have reset the modem many times, but cannot figure out how to change the name from Lyncsis to a "username" that I pick and to set it with a password so only the people that I know are using my modem.  I am not very techy.  When I called Lyncsis, they wanted to charge me $40 to give me the information over the phone since my modem was out of warranty.  So they weren't much help unless I paid.  I figured there would have to be someone out there in cyber land that could help me.

Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbors network...
    - Set the Wireless channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • I have an older router model wrt54G

I recently added a wireless printer and now I can see the linksys signal , however none of my devices will link to the signal...

Are you getting an error message when you try to connect to the wireless network? Was this working before or did you just setup the router? It would be best if you start with the wired connection first. Connect a computer to the router and check if you are able to go online that way. If you cannot, then you need to configure the router to work with your internet service provider's line. If you can, then check the wireless settings and take note of the SSID and the wireless password.
