Modelling different workflow-options

Hi,
There is a wiki which tells us the different work-flow options you can use:
SAP Business Workflow,
Guided Procedures
Collaboration tasks
ccBPM
etc.
Question1: is the a comprehensive tool to model these different altogether or do we need SAP Business Workflow's own modelling tool, UML for guided procedures, ? for Collaboration tasks and BPMN for BPEL separately (I hope it's not...).
Question 2: How does ARIS EPC's relate to this: the EPC is used for business-modelling. This should be the starting point for configurating different workflow-options, (using different models?).
Greetings Theo

Hi Theo,
I've nothing to hide but that quote was taken from an internal SAP mail so it wasn't polished for forum publication.
Just to clarify - I agree with your description of the layers.
I believe that a bpx working in an SAP environment should be aware of the tools (and approximate capabilities) at their disposal as well as basic functionality in the underlying business components deployed.
I believe that any question along the lines of "how do you do this with..tool A" is definitely not for the bpx forum. It should go in the relevant tools forum. Seeing as most of these posts are related to SAP Business Workflow or BAM or XI then they should go in the SAP NetWeaver BPM forum. There is also a CAF forum for guided procedures and a Visual Composer forum for VC and other forums for the other tools (such as BI). I.e. No need to create a new forum, just direct these tool posts to the tools forums.
I don't know whether BPMN or UML can really be understood by the business experts. In my experience white-boarding and flow-charts work pretty well but maybe the business experts have become more process savvy (which is why we want to offer certification).
Experience in a process automation project is a must, and knowledge about why this process is being done in such-and-such a way (e.g. 6-Sigma understanding) is also a must.
The BPX can reach level 1 from either level 1 or level 3. Philip Kisloff's BPX article is an excellent demonstration of level 3. Yes, he did use workflow to solve the problem but he had his bpx glasses on when he wrote the article.

  • Synchronizing workflow options?

I frequently open multiple images at a time in ACR. I had thought that selecting all images and then setting workflow options would set the selected workflow options for all of the images, but it doesn't.
The synchronize option allows you to select any of the image quality/color setting to sync, but not the workflow options.
If you have a bunch of images in the filmstrip view in ACR , do you have to go through each one at a time to select the workflow options? Is there a way to assign them all at once?
    Thanks,
    Joe.

I am using ACR 3.7 on windows. There are two different camera models involved in the images I have in ACR. Could that cause the workflow options to only work on a one-to-one basis rather than on the entire selection?
ACR does not seem to be setting workflow options by camera model as the difference in output results varied even within camera models. However, I guess it could be that the presence of two camera models within the selection could force the need to select workflow options individually for each image.

  • Smart Object - How do I keep ACR from changing workflow options?

Open image in Photoshop as a Smart Object from Lightroom.
Double-click to change the RAW characteristics.
When I return to Photoshop, my image has been changed...  Color space is changed, bit depth is changed, size is changed........
I believe I know WHAT is doing it - the Workflow Options in ACR are set.  HOW DO I TURN THEM OFF?
I can't find a reset, and I can't get it to stop messing with the image.  I've SPECIFICALLY UNCLICKED the "Resize to Fit", but
it STILL takes my 2600x3300 pixel image and returns it as 1824x2321 pixels.......
Where and how do I reset this thing?

I ABSOLUTELY agree......  That's exactly, I believe, how it's SUPPOSED to work.
    Except that mine didn't.
    I opened a 12.2 MP RAW file.
And made absolutely no changes to the workflow uptions at the time of opening.
But instead of "Image Sizing" saying "Default 12.2 MP", it said "3.6MP"
    Resize was turned OFF
Width was 2321 px and height was 1824 px, BOTH GRAYED OUT.
Upon leaving ACR, I had a 2321x1824 file.
Eventually, after wasting another hour screwing around with it, I finally blew away all of Bridge AND the preferences and all that,
and rebooted since the %$#)(*& Adobe CC thing wouldn't figure out there was no more Bridge, and resintalled...........
Now, when I open a file in there, at LEAST it knows it's 12.2MP.
It STILL wants to change the Space to sRGB, which I NEVER use from here, and the Depth to 8-bit, which again, I never use in ACR,
but I can set those back to what they should be...
So, in this case, by using a large enough bludgeon, I appear to have gotten around the problem.  Now I'm just waiting to see how soon it screws up again.

  • HP ColorLaserJet CP3505X - Relationship between different Color Options

    Hi everybody,
I know this is not exactly the right forum to ask this question, but I've put up the question in the HP Laserjet forum as well as in the Photography forum here and have not received any answer to it. Maybe somebody out here can answer it out of experience with a HP Color Laserjet printer:
Can anybody explain the relationship/interaction between the different Color Options (e.g. in the PCL6 driver) of the CP3505X to me?
    Options available:
    1) Driver Properties
    Color Management:
    Automatic
    ManualDefault Color Profile
    2) Printing Preferences
    Advanced Tab:
    ICM Method
    Disabled
    Handled by Host System
    Handled by Printer
    Color Tab:
    Color Themes
    Default (sRGB)
    Image Optimization
    Adobe RGB
    None
    Custom Profile
What kind of profiles are involved when printing output from an application in which case? The manual is very unspecific about this
    For example:
Under which circumstances is the profile specified under Manual Color Management in the Driver Properties used? And is it the only correction applied under those circumstances?
What profile is being applied when "ICM Handled by Printer" is chosen in the Printing Preferences?
Under which circumstances are the Color Themes specified under the Color Tab used, and under which circumstances are they ignored?
I am completely confused an would appreciate any explanation.

  • Workflow options are disabled in the sidekick for non-administrators

We have a custom workflow for content approval. The first step in the workflow assigns the task to the workflow initiator.
While testing the workflow, the initiation is successful and also the first task is assigned to the initiator. But when the initiator open the task and the content attached to the workflow opens in the content finder the workflow options are not available in the sidekick. It just says "
This page is subject to workflow:
    TxDOT Content Approval Workflow
Under Workflow Package it says - "Unable to add to a package because of a running workflow."
Any idea why the workflow options to complete, step back, and delegate are not available? These options are available to the author by right-clicking on the task in the Inbox. Just not available in the sidekick.

    Sham,
This is the strange part of the issue. The content is attached to the workflow and the task is also assigned to the user. I have verified this from the worklfow instances. Yet, these options are not available in the sidekick. However, these options are available in the right-click menu in Inbox.

  • Different mail ID for different workflows

    Hi All,
As per my knowledge if we use mail task in work flow a e-mail will be triggered from mail ID maintained for user wf_batch , is there any way to send mail through different mail iD for different workflows by using mail tasks only, not by using a separate task and using some function modules in that to send mails.
    Thanks
    Vinod

    Hi,
I have done this once. It is not the best I admit as many things must be considered, yet it worked.
In the binding of an activity step, prior to the mail send step, I have included the calling to a custom FM.
In this FM I have dinamically changed the mail address of WF-BATCH (the address was set in an ad-hoc paramenter.
Then right after the mail send step, again in the following binding, I have run the very same FM, with different paramenters of course, to put the address back to where it was.

I don't know, if you mean you have done your form or you have solved the problem.
It's visible your code is only partly reflecting your screenshot, and that's okay to demonstrate the problem you have given a fine example.
As you marked my suggestion as solution this may not be needed anymore, but here's how I modified your code and used a self made QuestionBox instead of messagebox.
The essential part is defining a callback method and letting the QuestionBox call back there. It's not essential I used RAISEEVENT, but it's fine as it has all the behaviour and parameters needed to call back.

  • Camera Raw Workflow options

    HI
when i open jpag (or tiff) in camera raw Workflow options,
i have option to size image.
may question it's: if i choose the large size, what hapen to
may image - interpolation like in Ps?
    thank

I don't know which algorithm Camera Raw uses ... but the result of the upsampling is virtually the same as Bicubic Smoother in Photoshop. Except for one thing: Camera Raw's upsampling will add tiny ringing artifacts to the result; Photoshop's won't. The artifacts are bright, horizontal or vertical, 1-pixel-wide lines along sharp, high-contrast edges. So for perfect results I recommend to convert the raw image to its native size in Camera Raw, then do the upsizing in Photoshop using the resampling method Bicubic Smoother. Before upsizing, apply some gentle source or capture sharpening.
However those ringing artifacts are really
    i very
small; it takes a very close look at high magnification to notice. In most cases they'll go unnoticed. So you may decide not to care. However they tend to get emphasized by subsequent sharpening.

  • Sequence of two different workflow

    Hi,
I have two different workflow. WF1 and WF2.
They are attached to same Library.
Is it possible to decide the sequence of this work flow.
    ie - WF2 = First
    WF1 = Second
    Regards,
    Milind

I've never seen it possible to communicate between workflows, so I'd typically tackle this via the use of an additional field in the list/library.  So, add a choice column called "KickOff" or somerthing similar. Set the default value to whatever
value will be needed for the first workflow.   The idea here is that you use this reference within your start-up workflow step.   You'll need to pay attention to the start conditions for this first one.
In this workflow logic, at the appropriate stage, add a step that changes the field to the "Workflow 2" Choice in the kick off column.  This change won't kick off the second workflow unless the initiation steps are run under an impersonation
    step.
    Hope that helps

  • Sharpen in "workflow options" and "Detail" tab

how does the sharpen within workflow options relate to the sharpening applied within the detail pane?
Does one override the other or would the sharpening be additive?
    thanks.

    >I probably would never use the workflow settings, especially since they are not well defined settings, and I assume for "general" office work...
In my opinion, the workflow options for output sharpening in ACR are rather awkward to use. One advantage of parametric editing is that the edits are stored in the ACR database or in the XMP file in a compact form without the necessity of large and possibly multilayered TIFF files. After making the required edits, one has repurposable masterfile that can be used for derivative images.
However, when one uses the ACR output sharpening, the dimensions of the image and the resolution must be determined in advance. One then has an output file that is suitable only for printing that specific image, and repurposibility is lost.
Furthermore, the output sharpening in ACR requires the setting of the resolution in pixels per inch. When printing to a relatively large output size, one usually renders the image at the native resolution of the camera and then sets the image dimensions of the picture without resampling. In the ACR workflow one must manually calculate the needed output resolution from the intended output size in inches and the native resolution of the camera in pixels.
For example, if one is using a Nikon D3 camera with a resolution of 2832 x 4256 pixels and wants to print on super B paper with a short axis dimension 12.5 inches, it is necessary to predetermine the required resolution in pixels per inch by dividing 2832 by 12.5 to obtain the needed resolution of 227 pixels per inch. One enters this value in the ACR dialog box.The result is an image that is suitable only for printing at that size.
Personally, I would prefer to use ACR to make a repurposable masterfile which can later be resized and output sharpened as necessary. Currently, I use PKSharpener for this purpose.
It would be nice to be able to store several possible output options in the XMP file or database, and this is currently not possible. For example, one might want to store settings for 8 by 10 or 11 x 14 inch prints.

  • Different Selection Options

    Hi,
Can someone tell me the difference in these selection options?
    1. 0 - Undefined Selection Options
    2. 1 - Selection EQ Permitted
    3. 2 - Selection BT Permitted
    4. 3 - Selection EQ, BT Permitted
    5. 7 - Selection EQ, BT, CP Permitted
    Please explain.
    Regards,
    Ramon

    Dear Raman,
    1. 0 - Undefined Selection Options
If in ur Info package selection,,if u dont define  any selection criterion....this option can be used..
    2. 1 - Selection EQ Permitted
    EQ= Equal
In ur info package selection..it is used to identify that particular value which u defined.
    3. 2 - Selection BT Permitted
    BT= Between.
In ur info package selection..it is used to identify that a rangeof values which u defined.
    4. 3 - Selection EQ, BT Permitted
It is used to define both a particular value  and also a range of values..
    CP
You can specify model selections (l_t_range-option = 'CP'), such as ABC*, in the field From Valueas a single value. Note the following:
    ·        As a model, only use the character *.
    ·        Use the character * only once in the field From Value.
    ·        Use the character * only at the end of the value.
    Hope this helps u..
    Assign points if helpful...

  • Workflow Options

I'm a long time PS user but have always used Capture One for RAW conversion. I'm now trying to learn ACR 5.0 which looks to have developed into a pretty cool RAW converter with some great features. My question is - how can I save Workflow Options as defaults? I want sRGB, 16bit and 300ppi as opposed to the default RGB, 8bit, 240ppi. It seems that each time I exit ACR the Workflow Options revert to the defaults. Thanks in advance for what I'm sure will be a simple answer.
    Ed

Thanks for the fast response Ramon!
Maybe things have changed or it's a glitch in the new software, but the Workflow Options are not sticky in 5.0. I have a feeling that will change with some near-future updates.
I pre-purchased CS4 about two weeks ago and downloaded the new software early this morning. PS will take a little getting used since some things have changed locations, but I'm very excited with some of the new features. Like I mentioned before - I'm a newbie to ACR so the entire program is a learning experience.
Thanks again for your response and I'll just "wait and see" what happens in the next few weeks with upgrades to resolve the non-sticky Workflow Options.

  • "Workflow Options" profiles

Hi Everyone. I was wondering if there is a way to add profiles (color spaces) to the existing selection under "Workflow Options". I only see the usual suspects (SRGB, Adobe 1998 etc,). I have tried going into Colorsync>profiles with no luck. Thanks!

No...the only color spaces available are the 4 in the Workflow settings. If you want to transform to some other color space, open the image in Pro Photo RGB in 16 bit and do a Convert to Profile conversion inside of Photoshop.
