Modem disconnection after certain time

I am using my nokia phone for getting Internet connection to my computer. As you know the phone acts as modem. The modem gets disconnected when the time reach 2 hours. It disconnects automatically when it is 2 hours. I had tried in different sim card and different settings etc but the result is same. I tried installing latest PC suite and nokia OVI suite but the result is same. The modem automatically disconnects when it is 2 hours. I can't find a way to extend the time limit. I called sim card support, but they are not able to get the exact reason. When the connection is established in the phone using wap, it stays long for more than 14 hours. But when it acts as modem it correctly disconnects when the time is 2 hours. Please help to to increase the time limit of modem connection. I am using windows 7 32 bit. My phone software is up to date and I had tried after restoring the phone to factory settings also. I want to know how to adjust the time limit of the modem to stay connected for long. How to change the time limit for modem connection in the computer?

As you know, you can tell the computer to shut down on a schedule (energy saver), but I do not know of anything that would do what you want.

Just place the Elapsed Time VI inside the WHILE loop, and wire the 'Time Has Elapsed' output to the conditional terminal in the lower right corner (which should be set to 'stop if true' by default).

Wi-Fi is getting disconnected after idle time

After upgrade, Wi-Fi is getting disconnected after idle time of 1-2 Minutes. Are other users facing similar issue. Please help.

What are you doing with your program. Lots of improper programming techniques can cause this - building arrays, concantanating strings, opening but not closing refrences, etc. Need more details or post your VI. Also, have you looked at "LabVIEW Performance and Memory Management"? It's part of the shipping documentation and available from Help>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf.

Apple USB modem disconnects after a few hours??

I bought an imac G5 -- it came without a modem. (After a false start), we bought the Apple USB modem. Now we want to upgrade the operating system, either with Safari or with "Software Update". It tells us we need Mac OS X Update to 10.4.3, and it is 97.0 MB.
We have a fairly slow dial-up connection -- always have, so we usually download large files like these overnight. But our Apple USB Modem won't let us - perhaps it is too unstable. After 6 or 7 hours we get disconnected. (It says we need 8 or 9 hours to download the file). Our main problem is that we can't stay connected for more than 7 hours.
I've made sure under the Network Preferences, for external modem, the Prompt every xx minutes to maintain connection, and Disconnect if idle for xx minutes, are both unchecked. I've turned off the screensaver. I make sure I move the mouse and a window every hour or so. I've phoned my ISP, and they deny a time-limit. I've tried not breating heavy near the computer.
What else can I do? I've always been able to stay on line over-night for download with my old computer/modem, but not with this one. I've tied at least 4 times. Is there something wrong with the Apple USB Modem?
Also, when I tried with Safari, and the modem disconnects, I thought I could just re-log on and start downloading where I left off -- but no. Every time I click the "resume downloading" circle next to the update in the download window, it starts from the beginning. -- it doesn't resume where it left off!
That is the most frustrating part about this -- I've downloaded the first half of the file a half-dozen times, and no matter if I use Safari or Software Update, I can't get the computer to remember the hours of work it just did and simply continue downloading from where it left off. If I could just solve that issue, I could get the system update downloaded.
If we don't solve this, we will never be able update any apple software with large files. Thanks for your help.

it's a 3.5 hour round trip to the closest Mac store.
I just want my modem to work right -- the first time. Actually, this is the third modem I've bought (all on-line since I have no mac store close). The first USB modem didn't have a mac driver. The next bluetooth modem said it was mac compatable, but when it arrived, it was only capatable with os9. So I get a modem right from Apple, and darn, I just want it all to work now. I'm tired of foolin around. Why wasn't there an internal modem anyway?
My old modems and macs could download overnight. All I want is for it to be as good as the old stuff.

Script or anything that will auto quit app after certain time of inactivity?

I am searching for a way to make apps auto quit after a certain time of inactivity.
For exmaple, if i open the app store, i would like it to close automatically after a certain amount of time, with the possibility of adding exceptions to the list.
Is this in any way possible?

Systemd doesn't seem to have this exact behavior. Autofs does though, it has a timeout option. (Systemd's StopWhenUnneeded is for when services don't need it, and its timeout option is for how long to wait before giving up trying to mount it.)
Now I wonder if autofs can also trigger a command after unmounting...

You can use the intofiy-tool's package's inotifywait to wait for an unmount event.

Web Service in JDK 6 - client resends request after certain time ?

I am using the JAX-WS in JDK 6 to build a web service.
The client sends a request to the server and server starts processing the request. The Server side processing is time consuming.
I am not sure what exactly happens, but after a certain time, a new thread gets started for server-side processing. I have not used any multi-threading in my coding .
Does JDK WS include a built-in timeout after which the client automatically resends the request to the server ?

I found a workaround: I added some additional resources using a link "http://localhost:8079/"NAME"/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x/:x" for each type (PUT, GET, POST, DELETE) where I handle the error message with the "Set HTTP Response Code VI"

Logoff scrip doesnt work ..after certain time threshold.

Hi im setting up PCs for general use in computer lab, with internet cafe like structure where one main computer will control every activity of the rest.
One of thing i made is setting up the script to force windows to shut down if user log off the windows;(so the computer would not stuck in remote-admin-unreachable limbo; where the control client isn't running and the PC isn't off either to receive WOL command
to restart and regain control.)
I noticed that the script will run if the windows being logged off shortly after login. when user clicked the log off button briefly after being logged in, it will actually shut down the PC.
but if it being used for some time or simply left idle until certain time (still unclear) threshold, the script will not run.
When the user clicked the log off button, it just log off as usual and returns to user selection screen; instead of initiating shutdown script. (and I have to manually login back or restart to regain control).
what causes this script 'timeout'?

Switch playlist of itunes dj automatically after certain time

hello,
i have 2 playlists in itunes. i would like to do the following:
1) itunes plays the first playlist by playing the songs in a random order and continues to do this, until
2) after a certain time (say 30 minutes), itunes switches to the second playlist and plays these songs in a random order and continues to do this for another 30 minutes.
now, for the randomization, i could use shuffle with repeat, but the problem with that is that after all songs are played in the playlist, the exact order repeats again. i don't want this. i want itunes to choose a random song from the playlist each time, even if it is the same one twice in a row. as i understand it, the itunes dj allows this possibility.
for the automatic switching, i read that i can use apple's automator to accomplish this. however, this is my first time using it. i chose workflow, and then music under 'actions'. i see a bunch of stuff for itunes but there is no itunes dj.
i don't know where to go from here or if there is an easier way to do this. does anyone have any ideas?

Also, I added a condition to exit the script if the user quit iTunes, but the script only works once every thirty minutes.

Wireless modem disconnecting after 10 minutes consecutively...

My wireless modem is disconnecting after every 10 minutes...I just replaced the modem and cable so it is not that.
It shows as a Ethernet port connection...it is plugged into a USB port.

Interesting. I have a Macbook pro 17" and although all is fine using either of the 2 usb ports on the left, my external modem is either very slow or disconnects for no reason when I use the usb port on the right.
I think it may have occurred after I upgraded to 10.4.7 also.

Nope. It means that if you want to schedule something, use code which does scheduling. Like Quartz for example. Bear in mind that the "something" in this case would involve sending an e-mail, but your scheduler wouldn't care about that.

Shutting down after certain time

I would like to use my mac to listen to before I go to sleep. Is there a function where I can set the computer to go to sleep after half an hour or so after I decide, not a set time every night? Maybe there is a widget or something, I know there is one for going to sleep, is this the best I can do? Cheers

Address Book bluetooth connection to phone disconnects after idle time?

I think receiving pop-up alerts of incoming calls on your Mac screen is pretty cool and a nice thing to have as and when required.
But in order for this to work, the bluetooth connection between Address Book and the phone needs to be active.
Unfortunately, it seems this connection becomes inactive after a certain amount of inactivity (?), and needs to be activated again with the bluetooth button. How can I keep this connection alive as long as I require it, without having to constantly use it, or keep pressing the bluetooth button?

I have to turn Bluetooth off, then back on & turn keyboard off then back on & it works now without having to restart the computer. I did disable the box for allowing Bluetooth devices to wake the computer since my mouse isn't Bluetooth.

Roll back process after certain time limit

Hi All,
I am using Oracle 11g. I am calling one stored procedure (MainProc) from my application. Through this procedure I am calling internally three more procedure (Insert recordProc1, InsertRecordProc2 and DeleteRecProc).
The third stored procedure (DeleteRecProc) is taking more than 5 minutes. But if these process crossings more than 5 minutes, have to stop the process and roll back all three stored procedures functions.
I don’t have any commit statement inside of these stored procedures. But I have EXECUTE IMMEDIATE Inside of stored DeleteRecProc.
Help required: Help me to make a counter / Timer. I have a parameter, which has the assigned time limit. How to check whether the process crossing the time limit? How to stop the process and call Rollback?
