Modem for Comcast triple play but without wifi

I need help with buying a cable modem for Comcast triple play plan in Houston, TX. I have located one model at a local Best Buy - XFINITY ARRIS Touchstone DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem and Wireless Router with Telephony Adapter Model: TG862G/CT at $200. However, I do not need wifi since I already have a wifi router. So, I am looking for a lower priced modem just for the internet and telephony service. It seems that the Arris TM822G (NCS) modem will do the job at a lower price, but where can I buy it from? Or any other similar modem that works well. I prefer to buy it locally so that I can easily return it if it doesn't work for me. Thanks. Paul

There have been recent posts where Comcast has refused to activate the 822 modem, claiming that the retail version is not on the approved list.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

So i updated to 12.1.2.27 and songs 'play', but without any sound output. Checked my audio settings and had it at Internal speakers. Checked the speakers (they work, at least for YouTube vids), restarted machine, etc and no audio output from iTunes. Any suggestions? Am I missing something?

Try unchecking Sound Enhancer and Sound Check in your Preferences under Playback
Sound check may have reduced everything to a low output level inadvertently.

I signed up for a Triple Play Bundle back towards the end of January for DSL/Phone/DirectTV. After taxes, fees, & discounts, I was quoted about $135 total, across two seperate bills. Direct TV's billing was constant from their end since day one($80); never a problem. Verizon bills me for about $100-110 each month, obviously not accounting for the bundle they signed me up for.
Customer service has not been helpful. After stating that they no longer offer that plan, they all then try to sell me a Fios bundle. Why would I agree to another contract when this one is so woefully in disaray?
I have names of every rep I spoke to & their corresponding 6 digit employee codes, as well as a couple personal emails which stopped responding a while ago.
If anyone can help with this, I would be very much appreciative.

Not sure what you mean by this? If you've downloaded a Movie, then it will be installed on your iPad (if downloaded to your iPad of course) and it will play from the iPad as is.
If this doesn't help, please provide more info about what you are trying to do.

Over the air worked for the iPhone— but why shouldn't the iTunes update work, too?
I get the same error (not eligible) for my iPad 1 in iTunes, but I can't seem to do an over the air update on that one, because after downloading, it just says "Software Update Failed: An error occurred downloading iOS 5.0.1". I don't know if there are different servers for iPads vs iPhones, but I guess I'll just wait and try the iPad later. (ironically, it was only the iPad, not the iPhone, that had any battery issues with iOS5, due to the auto time zone thing. The iPhone was fine, so the update was less urgent for it anyway...)
Anyway, that's now an iPad problem, not an iPhone problem!

Tips for FIOS Triple Play installation

I'm thinking of upgrading my Verizon DSL service to the FIOS Triple Play bundle, but have concerns about any surprises I might encounter during initial installation, especially additional charges I might incur on top of the supposedly "free" installation.
Here's a description of my current situation:
I'm assuming that my house is FIOS-ready, since Verizon has been aggressively marketing the service in my area for a couple of years now, and I know several people who have had fairly uneventful installs.
Two coax lines run from the satellite dish into the attic (unfortunately the least accessible part of the attic) and are routed separately to each room with a TV.
No CAT5/6 currently running to any room in my house.
I currently have DISH TV with essentially the same set-up I'd be getting with FIOS -- HD DVR with full HD service to one TV, and SD to a second TV. STB is connected to primary TV; second TV has coax and a wireless connection to the STB.
I have Verizon DSL with a wireless router providing network connectivity to all of the computers in my home.
Seems like this should be a fairly straightforward installation, but given this configuration to work with, are there any "gotchas" that I can expect to encounter during installation?

Verizon FiOS installers normally tie directly into existing Coax runs unless they are of poor quality and need to be replaced, they will run FiOS upto 3 rooms as part of the installation, and then additional coax runs or rooms will cost extra, double check with customer service.
Cat 5/6 not needed unless you have a special application that requires a direct connect vs a Wireless connection. All FiOS routers are wifi capable (ones being installed today) so the installer will be looking to wire the router close to the network terminal (ONT) and then distribute wireless out to the rest of the house.
They will likely mimic the current dish set up, and everything else looks pretty straight forward.
the only thing you want to be aware of is the location of the router, the installers will likely put this in your basement or garage, which may be different than where you have the DSL modem today, so locations that get wireless today, may be further away from the garage/basement than your current DSL modem locale today.
That may impact your wireless performance but other than that, you should be good

I am considering getting my 13 year old an IPOD Touch for Christmas. We do not have WIFI. Can he download games to the IPOD using regular Internet and then play the games without WIFI?

He can download them using iTunes on the computer he syncs with, then sync the apps to the iPod Touch from there. Whether the apps will work without an Internet connection is a different issue entirely.
You may just want to invest in a Wireless router. They're dirt cheap.

I have completed a new game that runs great on Android - created using Flash Builder 4.5 and Flash Professional. I got all our Apple stuff out of the way and then also compiled for iOS. Then I deployed to my son's iPod Touch 5 via TestFlightApp.com. He installed and ran and we get the sound but no screen. I'd really like to finish debugging and then deploy this app for both droid and iOS at the same time (in the next few days). Can someone tell me why the SWF's that are the UI of the app are playing sound but not showing up on screen? How can I fix this problem?
BTW, please forgive the fact that the site is under dev (will be completed and polished before go live), but you can get some idea of what the game is about at our web site: headshotgame.com.

Ooops, spoke too soon...
After we recompiled all our FLA's to SWF's and added them as assets to our Flash Builder project, it did not work again (SWF sound plays but no graphics display). So, we went back to the earlier test solution and it did not work either?!?
Finally, we compiled using the quick compile selection of Flash Builder. The intro screen showed up all the sudden! But, none of the buttons work and you can't navigate to any other of the screens. Sadly, this is not answered and I don't know whether this belongs in the Flash Builder or the Flex forum as I don't know what is causing the problem.
All of this works perfectly on Android. Same code on iOS does not work. Perhaps it's the fact that I'm testing on an iPod touch with iOS5?
I have people waiting to test this app and help me get it live but I can't seem to get it to run on iOS. Please let me know if I can provide any other info to help you help me.

A summary of our problem:
We have multiple SWF's that are compiled in Flash Pro that make up a larger mobile app that we built in Flash Builder.
We add the Flash Pro SWF's to Flash Builder as assets of the project and use the Navigator to move between them with event listeners bubbling up from the buttons that are in the SWF's.
There are many SWF's - most screens have multiple SWF's on them.
All of this works very well on Android.
The same project compiled for iOS creates an IPA file but when the IPA file is deployed to the device, none of the screens show up but the sound plays.
There is only one way to get a (the first) screen to show on the device which is to set Flash Builder packaging method to "fast". Yet, getting the screen to show is useless as it won't allow you to navigate (and the SWF behaves differently in other ways compared to Android).
I am testing on iPod and will recruit other iOS device users to test as well. The iPod I am testing on is an iPod touch with iOS 5.

Best modem for comcast voice?

I'm currently leasing a tier 3 gateway device, and it's garbage! Can someone recomend the best modem (retail) that can be used with comcast voice? Also. I'm not actually using the phone line, only got it to get a lower price on the 105 mpbs speeds. Can I use any modem, or will comcast still restrict me to a telephony modem?

Right now the only modem/gateway listed as retail approved for use with voice with Comcast is the Arris TM862G. Does not have great reviews, what with limited wireless range and limited firmware. If I had to get one, I would bridge it and use a good router with it. Good question about not using the voice side, I have read about people just buying a straight cable modem, not sure if you would run into problems getting it activated and even if you did, you could run into account problems down the road.

I use a Motorola Surfboard moden with Comcast. Other than occasionally having to reset it by unplugging it, it has worked well for years.

ALV: F4 help for a column wanted, but without any check

I have an ALV and I use a DDIC structure for the field catalog. My requirement is that for all columns in ALV, the F4 should appear normally (using the DDIC information), but I do not want an automatic check for the value entered by user.
So .e.g. if in F4, possible values are 1, 2, 3 then the ALV throws an error if user leaves the field blank (because blank was not a possible value for the domain of the field). How, can I by-pass this automatic check by ALV (while still keeping the F4 help)?

Hi hope u know the difference between value table and check table.
In this case you have to give value table as F4 reference but not check table.
I mean consider the field Plant. if you are defining plane with reference to master table T001w and u r entering a value not in T001W it will give error. because here it is check table. where as define the plant with refence to MARC. then MARC will be value table. and dont give error if you enter any plane value not there in MARC.
Try to find out value tables for your fields and use. Then it will work.
