Modem issues solved with 10.4.8?

Hi all,
As the Apple USB modem users know, there was a serious issue with the IOUSB kernel in 10.4.7 that made the external Apple modem very unreliable. This issue was solved by downgrading that kernel to the 10.4.5 version. I've not done the 10.4.8 upgrade (mostly cause my MB is at the shop for RSD) but I don't want to mess with a perfectly working modem right now. Does anyone has tried the upgrade and found that the modem is working allright?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for this insight. I had the same symptoms as yours after installing 10.4.7. I couldn't maintain a connection.
My left USB port was malfunctoning. Apple's advice was to use the right one and wait for an update for this known issue. I did so for some weeks with relative success.
It seems that there is more than one way to lose a connection.
Just yesterday I experienced a panic, a disabling bout of conection failures and then "power management" problems. Those were resolved for the moment by reseting the power management and PRAM. 3 times.
Today I have developed a previously unknown to me "known issue" - booting to a gray screen. Video fails to mount? The PRAM must be reset at every start up.
Apple's advice is to upgrade to 10.4.8. I am trepidatious and hungry for reports from others with any of my sympoms and their experiences with 10.4.8.

  • Time Capsule with BT Infinity modem issues

    Hello all
I am attempting to set up my Time Capsule as the router and wifi, connected directly to the BT Infinity (UK based broadband provider) modem.
I have been using my MacBook Pro (mid 2010, Yosemite 10.10.1) and Airport Utility to configure the settings so far. I've managed to connect the TC and have created two wifi networks.
I have since been experiencing intermittent problems with the TC not appearing on the network, via AU on my MBP. However, when this does happen, the wifi seems to work OK. Can anyone explain why this might be so, and how to remedy this issue?
I have connected my Sonos ZonePlayer to the TC, but when the TC disconnects, the Sonos ZP then needs to be set up again.
I have also connected my Panasonic TX-50AX802 to the 2.4 network on my TC. This all worked fine at first, but then after the TC disconnected and wasn't available, the TV is unable to maintain a wi-fi connection. How might this issue be resolved?
I also have my iPhone 5s and iPad connected to the TC (both running iOS 8.1.1). These seem to be working OK. I haven't experienced any issues connecting with the TC via Airport Utility on my iPhone.
I would be grateful for any assistance with this as I have only a very limited understanding of the technical aspects of creating a network.
    Thanks

    In a word.
    Yosemite
The fix is to use a better OS.. eg anything before Yosemite.
Sorry but Yosemite is bug filled and causes wireless issues.. take a quick look around this discussion.. 3 out of 4 issues will be yosemite since it came out.
On old laptop and especially if you upgrade installed.. then you really need to go back to earlier OS.. or at least clean install Yosemite and try again.
It can actually cause issues in combo with your iOS 8 due to the new handoff protocols which apple need to work a lot harder on fixing.
    Problems in wireless with yosemite.

Turn off the computer.. reboot the TC.. do any other other devices have issues? Panasonic TV or Sonos?? if not the computer is the cause.
You might alleviate some of the worst effects by setting up the TC again.
    Please use the following.
    1. TC main name really short.. eg TCgenx (x actual number of the Gen if you like).
    2. Set wireless names TC24ghz and TC5ghz.
    3. Lock the wireless channels so they cannot change. eg use 13 or 11 for 2.4ghz
Use 100 for 5ghz.. but whatever works for you..
    4. Test with no security.. briefly to make sure that all is working.
    5. Set security as soon as you can.. WPA2 personal.. 8-20 character password no spaces.. no non-alphanumeric characters.. mixed case and numbers.

Apple TV mirroring issues even with Mac mini, airport extreme bought at the end of last year, and an iPad 2

I have the same issue with ATV3 and iPhone 4S. Everything works properly, no buffering issues when watching netflix, vimeo, youtube BUT when I try mirroring even a small 15sec iPhone movie it stutters and buffers and results to a choppy playback..same with larger mp4 files such as 1-1.5GB, buffers forever and never plays, I just re-encoded the same movie to 700MB and plays perfectly..
Why Apple, why?..so close..I can accept the bigger movie files issue, but not being able to playback properly an iPhone movie is funny..I recorded a movie with lower bitrate through Filmic Pro (Economy mode, up to 16Mbps)
    and plays properly.
Is there an upcoming software update going to solve the problem or is it hardware related and therefore not fixable.
Please don't reply with a network related answer, by 2012 we know how to set up our networks and everything else runs flawlessly.
I'll apreciate a fast answer, we love Apple, but if it can't play an iphone movie (or a high quality movie from iTunes) it's just not up to my standards.
    Thanks again.

  • After Effects: "You have this plugin twice" issue SOLVED

Do you get problems in After Effects telling you that you have more than one time a plug-in, installed on your system? What After Effects does, is to scanning the Plug-ins and presets every time it opens, if you by mistake installed one plug-in two times, you will get an error telling you that you may have an issue working with this plug-in and, is better that you close After Effects and uninstall this plug-in. Well my friend gave me few plug-ins that he had, but it seems like I had some already installed. Every time I opened my After Effects for each plugin I had two times installed, it was stopping the scanning and informing me about the situation. It was really annoying to click too many times on “OK”. So I came up with an answer.
) First go to directory where your After effects is installed. Usually it is: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4.
) Go to “Support Files” folder and then to “Plug-ins”
) If you are using Vista or 7, use the search box on the right top corner of you window, if you are on XP, use the search button and click “find files and folders” (I don’t actually remember if it is like this)
) Then search “*.*” without the quotes (This will scan your folder and will show you all the files inside the Plugins folder)
) Look carefully to see the plugins icon (easy to recognize) and the name of the plugin, if you see a plugin name two times, that is the plugin that cause you the problem.
) Right click on one of the two and delete it.
) You can also follow the other way. When after effects pop up this problem with the plugin issue, it will tell you the actual name of the plugin, write down the name on a paper if you can’t remember, close after effects, navigate to the Plugin folder, and search specific for the plugin with this name. You will notice that it will appear twice. Delete one of these plugins.
) BE CAREFULL, DO NOT EMPTY THE RECYCLE BIN YET.
) First open After Effects, and see if the problem is solved. Use the Plugin on an SOLID or ADJUSTMENT layer, and when you are sure that everything is all right, you can empty the recycle bin.
I know that maybe this is not a big deal and maybe everybody can came up with this idea to solve the problem, but you never know if a person is really need a help on this.

  • Can't mute Phone modem sound Pavilion with PCI-SV92EX modem.

I need to use a phone modem to connect with a system that is NOT on internet. There is a modem control to set the phone dialing modem sound at different loudness levels, including off. This volume control does not function; the modem sounds just as loud (very loud) no matter what the control is set on. Putting headphones into the front jack, which negates sound normally out of the speakers, does NOT negate the modem sounds. However, when an HP tech muted all sound on the system, that DID turn off the modem sound.
This control has functioned correctly on many different machines and versions of Windows (I don't know about Vista).
This would be a minor issue, except that there is an automated transmission of material from my system to this other system every morning at 5am, and the machine is in my bedroom (neither of which can be changed).
    GRIP
Apparently, there is no email  avenue to directly ask a question to HP, only this forum, chat, or telephone support. To use chat I must DOWNGRADE to an earlier full release of Firefox or Explorer!!. The HP support techs I talked to were worse than useless. The first one did not understand that it was a phone modem that was issuing sound thru the speaker (like a cable or DSL modem ever made a sound!), and did not not recognize that modem dial tones and the modem negotiation that I hear her listen to. She needed to remotely take over my system then turned off ALL sound, and hung up The second tech (smooth suave, stupid as **bleep**), decided that HP didn't support what the  sold me, since he hadn't been trained on it.
    GRIP OFF

Some of the older modem driver software had settings to mute the sound.  The modem command string would essentially get modified when the application started to use the modem.

  • Issues related with the current update kitkat

A week earlier i updated my tab to kitkat version and now i am facing the problem to transfer my internal storage data to my hp pc
Want a solution for this issue

    Hey @shreynirvick ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're not able to access the internal storage on your Voice Tab from your PC.
Google started enforcing a security protocol on the KitKat operating system that has caused drastic changes in how storage works on your device.
Essentially, nothing has access to manage files that is not installed in the same directory as the file itself. The biggest issue was with managing SD storage which you can read about here:
KitKat and SD cards — what's fixed, what's broken and what's misunderstood.
How can I get Android KitKat to work with my SD cards?
You can also check your storage settings. Go to Settings > Storage > Menu button (top right corner) > USB Computer Connection > Ensure MTP is selected.
    Thanks.

  • OSX 10.4.10/Apple USB Modem issue

    Hi there:
3 weeks ago I bought a new imac and also an apple usb modem (since we only have dial up where I live).
I wasn't having a problem at all with connecting to the internet.
I am online virtually most of the day and, at night, I disconnect and put my computer to sleep.
Now every morning when I go to connect, it just says "connecting" endlessly, with no dial tone....YES, the phone line is working.
It does nothing to disconnect the phone line, the modem etc.
If you click "disconnect" it just says "disconnecting" endlessly.
I am forced to shut down the computer and reboot to make it stop and reset itself and then I can connect to the internet just fine.
The only thing I can think of that changed since when I first got the computer is that I upgraded to OSX 10.4.10.
Does anyone know if this is a 10.4.10 issue or a modem issue?
I posted this in the old hardware forum as well....
    Help!
    Thanks!

I don't know how much of a Mac background you have, so forgive me if I state the obvious. Before and after any upgrade you should be repairing permissions (in Disk Utilities). There are some AOL issues with this modem if you use that ISP. I am having a problem with my usb modem not dialing for sending a fax @ work until I uncheck "wait for dialtone" but I am dialing through a work phone system. I have not figured out how to make this the default setting. Since you have a new iMac, you should call Apple Support by your misbehaving phone line.
    Good Luck

  • Modem issue

I have an iMac 400 that I gave to my parents to use. I'm running 10.3 on it. They can only get dial up where they are. I hooked it up and got a "no dial tone detected" message. I can plug the same cord back into the phone and I get dial tone. What are the possibilities that can cause this issue? Is there a way to test the modem?

The KB article # 24789 contains some basic information. Since you do detect a dialling tone with the same cable connected to the telephone, the problem appears to be the modem or its connector.
Generally speaking, one can test if a modem is able to at least communicate with the computer, by sending AT commands to it from a terminal emulator (e.g. the communications section of AppleWorks, or a special program such as ZTerm). When one sends AT followed by Return, the modem should respond with an "OK". After ATI, ATI1, ATI2, ATI3 et cetera followed by Return, the modem will answer with product data. However, a modem may talk correctly to the computer but still not be fully OK (for instance, if the signals do not reach the RJ-11 jack). So, an "AT test" can be of limited value. A "no dialling tone" message would seem to indicate that something in the circuits near the jack is causing the difficulties.

  • Undocumented problem solved with 16-bit pcmcia and irq error

I am having the exact same problem as described in the following post:
"Undocumented problem solved with 16-bit pcmcia and irq error."
"I'm using a DAQ Card (AI-16E-4), which didn't work properly in MAX. MAX complained that the card didn't respond to an interrupt request.
I've had this issue for a while, but dropped it, since NI support told me nothing could be done about it. Meanwhile, a seemingly unrelated problem with a wireless pcmcia network card arose. Cisco had no clue what was wrong with their card either, but I found Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q327947. It seems that Win2k (they claim SP3 and up) disables ISA to PCI routing, which is what causes this problem.
    To fix it, open regedit
    and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Pcmcia\Parameters"
edit or create the DWORD value "DisableIsaToPciRouting" and set the value data to 0.
See Microsoft's article for further details: http://support.microsoft.com/default. aspx?scid=kb;en-us;327947"
The difference is that I am using WinXP and the Regedit fix does not solve the problem. Does anybody know how he was able to continue to use the card before he solved the problem? The card works fine in MAX, but errors out in LabVIEW.

    Hey Willy,
Here some additional suggestions that have corrected some PCMCIA difficulties in the past besides the registry edit you suggested.
    1. General Troubleshooting to Verify Correct Hardware and Software Installation
Uninstall the PC Card hardware through Device Manager
Remove the PC Card from the laptop
    Uninstall the NI-DAQ software
Follow the normal installation instructions (the most important step to remember for Plug-n-Play Operating Systems is to install the software first)
Try the latest service packs for Win 2000 or Win XP
Try the PC Card in a different laptop
Try a different slot in the laptop. On certain laptops PC Cards have been successfully installed in the top PCMCIA slot instead of the bottom.
    2. Additional Troubleshootin
g for PC Cards that Return IRQ Conflicts
    For E-Series DAQCards:
Update to NI-DAQ 6.9.3 first and then update NI-PAL to version 1.6.1 (included exe file).
Download the attached NI-PAL (ni-cdu1610.exe), and run the installer. When receiving the error "The device is not responding to the first IRQ Level" in Measurement and Automation Explorer, try this method of upgrading NI-PAL
    3. Additional Troubleshooting Steps
Try disabling the 3COM adapter, and any other extraneous (for now) devices like any built in serial and parallel ports. The best way to do this is probably to disable them in the BIOS. If the PCMCIA card works properly then try to reconfigure disabled devices one at a time.
Make sure the latest BIOS is installed.
Check for any unusual PCMCIA drivers or other software that might interfere with the PCMCIA driver.
    I hope this helps.

  • MB26 ,CO27 - goods issue components with serial number?

    Hi ,everyone!
I know CO27 and MB26 can do goods issue to production order very easily and quickly!
But It seems CO27 and MB26 can not work well with the component with serial number.
I aslo know MB1A and MB1B can post goods issue for component with serial number. But in MB1A and MB11 , it is very difficult to can material by material number quickly while doing more then 100 components issue to one production order.
And for authorization purpose we restrict MIGO not to use goods issue for production order.
So I want to ask how CO27 and MB26 do goods issue for the component with serial number?
Or there is another ways to goods issue component with serial number to production order easily, exclude MB1A,MB11 and MIGO?
    Thanks for any reply!

    Hi Vivek
We use CO27 for goods issue to production order ,just like MB1A goods issue to production order.
But in the BOM components of the production orders ,some semi finished products are with  with serial numbers ,so we can not use CO27 or MB26 to issue these components with serial numbers to production orders!

  • Issues Capturing with Final Cut Express

    Hi
I am currently having issues capturing with Final Cut Express. I am using a Firewire 800 gold speed cable 9pin/4pin with my Sony LSF-S58 camera. I use mini DV tapes and usually capture on other computers with no problems. However this time I am using Final Cut Express version 4.0.1 along with a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter so it'll connect with my MAC Book Pro (Operating system OS X 10.6.8). The issue is when I open Final Cut's capture option there is a message at the bottom that says "No Communicatin" I have tried various settings within easy set-up and nothing seems to work as well as browsing this help board along with others looking for the answer. Any help anyone can provide would be great. Thanks.

When I Google LSF-S58, I get a Sony Lens Hood, not a camera. Are you recording in HD or SD?
Have you used the Thunderbolt to Firewire convertor successfully on your computer with other devices?
Have you used the Thunderbolt port successfully with other Thunderbolt devices?
I don't know if this is applicable to your computer, but there is a Thunderbolt software update for 10.6.8 here:
