Modem problems? (Flashing Ethernet and Internet)

Ive read some page on what flashing lights mean. My ethernet is flashing a fast green same with my internet light. Never any red, always green. My internet is decently connected. I get my same download speeds but I notice for webpages I'll need to reload a page or click a link a second or a third time to get it to register. At times the light will stay solid for Ethernet but its usually always flashing.
Anything I can do to get a static connection? This started right after my DNS problem which lasted a few days, was unable to be resolved by verizon but then suddenly just stopped being a problem by itself.
Also:
Vista 64
Modem is a Westell 6100 thats about.. 4 years old?
Dunno any other things that could be relevent. Sigh. And I cant cancel verizon for another year or so.
How much is early termination cost? God why did I sign a second contract?

Hi, there is nothing wrong with flashing ethernet or internet lights. On some modems it's a way to show that data is being passed through the router.

  • Have Access to HD by ethernet and internet by wifi

    Hi,
I use Time Capsule by Gigabit Ethernet, because I need fast access to it disk, with my iMac. Now I bought an iPhone and want to use it Wifi to access the internet.
But when I turn on the internet by Wifi, my iMac access the disk of Time Capsule by Wifi (a lot more slow). If I change the order of network service (putting Ethernet in first, to access the HD faster) I can't access internet in my iMac.
*How can I force the iMac to access the disk by ethernet and the internet by wifi?*
    Thank you,
    Paulo

Depending on the details of your configuration, you shouldn't have to use both modes. You should be able to do both things over Ethernet.
Yeah! Before I buy my iPhone, the Wifi of Time Capsule was Off. And I used only the ethernet to have access to the disk and for the internet.
But now that I turn on the Wifi, I cant access the internet by Ethernet with my iMac (as I said before).
Besides the Time Capsule and (presumably) a broadband modem, do you have any other networking equipment? if so, how is everything connected?
In your Time Capsule, what are the settings for these things?
    - AirPort/Wireless/Wireless Mode
    - Internet/Internet COnnection/Connection Sharing
I have a modem and a Switch. But the Switch is only for connect a PC, and printers in my network. The 2 iMacs that I have here are connect direct in Time Capsule.
I always configure my ethernet manualy. With IP and every thing. Here:
    IP: 192.168.0.11
    Sub mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router: 192.168.0.1
    DNS: 192.168.0.1, 156.154.70.1, 156.154.71.1
This always works to access the disk and the internet with wifi off.
Now I turned on the wifi of Time Capsule:
    Mode: Create a wifi network
    Mode: 802.11n
    channel: Automatic
    Security: WPA2 Personal
Thank you for you time and help my. And if you need more information just ask.
    Best regards,
    Paulo

  • Flash Player and Internet security warning Prompt

    Hi All,
I have not put a flash player into a website before so i am not sure how exactly to do it correctly.  I have just taken over a project that another individual did and it has a flash player in a sharepoint site.  The problem is that after they put this on the site (which is on the home page) everyone gets the IE securtiy warning box asking if the want to view both secure and non secure items on the page.
I work in an environment such that I have no control over being able to set the security level in IE to mixed Mode, like i said having never done this before I am not sure just how this should have been put on the page but I am pretty sure that this piece of code is the offending part.
    codeBase=http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=10,0,0,0
Does it need to get these cab files everytime the webpage is loaded?  here is (I believe) all the code associated with this flash player insertion:
        <td valign="top"><div WebPartID="c77fecd7-e91f-47d5-b47d-2f54f9fce94a" HasPers="false" id="WebPartWPQ5" width="100%" class="ms-WPBody" allowDelete="false" style="" ><OBJECT id=Homepage style="WIDTH: 432px; HEIGHT: 212px" codeBase=http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=10,0,0,0 align=middle classid=clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000><PARAM NAME="_cx" VALUE="11430"><PARAM NAME="_cy" VALUE="5609"><PARAM NAME="FlashVars" VALUE=""><PARAM NAME="Movie" VALUE="Flash%20Documents/ind_pr.swf"><PARAM NAME="Src" VALUE="Flash%20Documents/ind_pr.swf"><PARAM NAME="WMode" VALUE="Window"><PARAM NAME="Play" VALUE="-1"><PARAM NAME="Loop" VALUE="-1"><PARAM NAME="Quality" VALUE="High"><PARAM NAME="SAlign" VALUE=""><PARAM NAME="Menu" VALUE="-1"><PARAM NAME="Base" VALUE="./"><PARAM NAME="AllowScriptAccess" VALUE="sameDomain"><PARAM NAME="Scale" VALUE="ShowAll"><PARAM NAME="DeviceFont" VALUE="0"><PARAM NAME="EmbedMovie" VALUE="0"><PARAM NAME="BGColor" VALUE="000000"><PARAM NAME="SWRemote" VALUE=""><PARAM NAME="MovieData" VALUE=""><PARAM NAME="SeamlessTabbing" VALUE="1"><PARAM NAME="Profile" VALUE="0"><PARAM NAME="ProfileAddress" VALUE=""><PARAM NAME="ProfilePort" VALUE="0"><PARAM NAME="AllowNetworking" VALUE="all"><PARAM NAME="AllowFullScreen" VALUE="false">

    </OBJECT></div></td>
So also not sure about the line just above that looks like it is also linking to get the flashplayer each time? is that necessary?
any adivice would be great in fixing this problem,

  • Problem with ACE and Internet Explorer 8

I have a problem with ACE (system A2(1.1)) and Internet Explorer 8.
    exactly:
ACE is configured as end-to-end ssl with 2 rserver and with the sticky source address. When user is opening the virtual address from IEv7, the web portal (On Microsoft IIS) works fine.
If user opens the same web portal but using IEv8, the session is suspended after 60 seconds.
I think, that the reason is http keep-allive, which is sending every 60 seconds from the user's internet browser.
Here is some information about this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_persistent_connection
Do you have any idea how to resolve this problem: upgrade ACE, change the configuration on IIS or ACE ??
    Please help.

    Hi Kazik,
Using a persistent connection or HTTP keepalives should not have any negative effect on the ACE, so, giving you a straight-forward answer to fix it is not going to be easy.
I would recommend you to open a TAC case to have this investigated further. When you do, please, provide the following data:
A showtech from the Admin context of the ACE
A traffic capture taken on the TenGig interface connecting the switch with the ACE backplane while doing a test connection (preferably one with IE7 and one with IE8 to compare)
If possible, a copy of the SSL private key. Being able to decrypt the traffic capture to look inside the HTTP flow would really make troubleshooting much easier.

  • Problems with ethernet and wifi after 10.5.8

In school we log online through a system where a window appears in Safari (or other web browser) where you write in your username and password. Same is for Ethernet and Wifi. After update 10.5.8, this system no longer works. Only logo of the service provider appears but the boxes for username and password are missing.
Everything works with my old iBook G4.
    Any ideas?

My son is at school in the USA and he is reporting the same problem getting onto his university network. His new MacBook is getting the 'self-assigned IP' message with DHCP. This is not a good start to the school year.

  • Ethernet and Internet detected, not able to connect to web-browser

I'm working on a 15" powerbook. I just got back to school, and when I plug into the ethernet port,my computer detects that the ethernet is plugged in and that I am connected to the internet. My IP Address is recognized and everything else. My problem is that when I try to open a web browser, it says it can't find the server. The same for when I try to log into AIM. I am connected to the network, as I can see "shard music" in iTunes and everything else. I am connected using DHCP. Anyone know where I should start? The "help-desk" here is of no help.

    Could be a DNS error,
enter http://17.254.3.183 into your address bar.
If you get to the apple site, then it is a DNS error.
if not, I'd pull your system config plists and restart.

  • Problems Flash Catalyst with Internet

    Hi there,
Here is my problem  with Flash Catalyst. Every time Flash Catalyst is launched, I have no  access to the Internet. I can't get online when Flash  Catalyst is open. Internet comes back only when Catalyst is closed. This  is the only program that does that to me. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

i hate IE, most of the work arounds anyone has to do is for
    that stupid browser..
As for the problem you guys have, the only thing i can
suggest is to use both EMBED and OBJECT tags.
Also, i noticed that Flash CS3, uses a separate .js script to
handle that, so maybe it's worth a try to include a .js file along
with your embed and object code.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ethernet and Internet - Network preferences

I have 2 imac g5 connected in ethernet.
I have two usb printers connected to these 2 imac g5.
In the network preferences I have 2 location:
    A) for ethernet connection
    B) for adsl internet connection
When I want to surf in internet I must choose the B location.
When I want to share the printers and I want to connect the 2 imac I must choose the A location.
When I choose the A location I can't surf in internet and vice versa!!!
Why I must set up two different location?
Can I set up a single location in the netwok preferences so that I can make the things both?
    Thank you!
    Max

Your first post did not mention a hub. Is everything connected to the hub? Are the printers connected to the hub or directly to a computer?
Both printers can be connected to one computer and printer sharing turned on on that computer so the other computer can print on the printers. I'm guessing your DSL modem connects via the USB port and not the ethernet port?

  • Flash, Javascript and Internet Explorer

This is driving me nuts...!!!!!! It works in Firefox but not
    Internet
    Explorer.
I've got a load of gifs on a page that I want to swap from a
    Flash movie
    using a loop.
This is the Javascript I'm using:
    function blankAll(x){
    document[x].src="images/splash-link-arrow.gif";
And I'm calling it in Flash using the following action
    script:
    function blankOut(){
    for(x = 1; x <= _root.allBranches.length; x++){
    getURL("javascript:blankAll('"+ _root.allBranches[x-1]
    +"')");
allBranches being an array containing a list of the gif names
    to swap.
Like I say, in Firefox this works like a dream, but in
    Internet Explorer it
only swaps the very last gif on the list........ WHY?
    Can anybody help please?
    Big thanks in advance,
    @ndyB

    Sorry Dan,
This has got nothing to do with the question I asked.
I know about the Microsoft "patch" and have already allowed

  • Flash 8 and Internet Explorer

I am creating a website for work and I noticed that in
Internet explorer it doesn't display my text in my flash file. It
does however display images. Does anyone know why this is happening
and how I can fix it?

A common cause of this is that you published your swf for
    Flash Player 8
but that an older Flash Player is installed, like version 7.
    FP7 will
play many Flash 8 swfs, but the text rendering is different,
    so the text
    won't show up.
Check this page to see what version of Flash Player is
    installed:

  • Site problems in Firefox and Internet Explorer

    Here's my site: http://davesnowgraphics.com/DSG/Home.html
Created in iWeb '08. Here is a list of problems. Solutions welcome.
    1) In all browsers: links to internal pages open up in a new window or tab. As an internal link, the option to "Open page in a new window" is not even available. I therefore assume that they should open in the same window, but most open in a new page or tab.
    2) In Firefox (both Mac and PC) the text spacing is messed up. Throws spaces in the middle of words and generally stretches text or letter spacing, making text returns seemingly at random. The fonts are all supposedly web safe (Trebuchet MS and Times New Roman).
    3) Site is TOTALLY jacked in Internet Explorer. Transparency of linked images dumped, making intended graphics solid white. Also on the PC (I don't have the Mac I.E.), my text gets hijacked by random text links with those annoying pop-up boxes that lead elsewhere.
Is it possible for an iWeb-generated site to work in commonly-used browsers, or do I have to learn Dreamweaver?

Okay, so I did some code experimentation and solved everything in my last post inquiry.
Seems the entire line *onclick="window.open(this.href); return false;" onkeypress="window.open(this.href); return false;"* needs to be removed from the javascript that iWeb generates when you have a link associated with a graphic. Pain in the butt, but it works.
Also did extensive searching for title= and manually changed the following text to what I wanted it to be.
I'm interested to know if these issues are resolved with the iWeb '09 update. Anybody know?
I also removed the graphics that I was using as links on the cubes. I put simple square shapes in the middle of the cube sides, made them transparent and assigned the link to them. They don't map the entire cube side as a link, but enough to make it functional. Also, for some reason, the fact that they're native iWeb-generated shapes and not placed graphics, they open up in the same page without having to delete the code line mentioned above.
Still no solutions to the following I.E. issue in my initial post.
I have the site open on my PC right now in IE. If you go to About > Services, the words "Business", "communication" and "Project Management" are green with double underlines. If I roll over them, I get a popup window with an advertisement for GameVance. What's up with that? Is that a setting in my local Internet Explorer properties that I need to disable?

  • Problems using SIP and internet phone of E61 after...

I recently bought a nokia e61 and I really like all the functions it has that comes with it at the beginning. My cellphone was first loaded with firmware V.2.06 when it first arrived and I was able to use SIP internet phone via WLAN very well.
After that, I upgraded the firmware to V 3.06. All other functions seem to be working as before except the SIP internet telephone calling.
First, I noticed that the internet telephone application is not added where I do not seem to get what it is supposed to do. This application is called "internet tele." and it is in installation group with V 3.06 firmware. I remember that this function used to be in connect. for the firmware V.2.06.
It seems that thi application is supposed to help find out the available WLAN before connecting to SIP proxy. I kept all SIP setting the same as before and, when I tried to do internet call (put in number, hit option, and choose internet call), the call does not seem to go through. It just got stuck there and never give me any sound back. I don't think it is the problem of internet access because I can still use internet properly via the web module.
    Any thoughts whould be appreciated.

Just an opinion... You can try another way, use Fring! It gives SIP with pre - definitions for several VOIP providers.

  • Problems with graphics and Internet connection - iMac 2011 with Lion

First: sorry about my english... It is terrible! lol
I have an 2011 iMac, purchased in June 2011 in the USA. I brought the iMac to Brazil.
Sometimes when I turn on my iMac, the graphics are horrible and can not connect to the Internet. When this happens, I have to restart the Lion.
Apple introduced the "iMac FW Graphic Update 3.0". The information says clearly that supports Brazilian Portuguese. Butwhen I install, an error appears: "this software is not compatible with your system".
My Lion is in Brazilian Portuguese. Why it is not compatible? How do I install it? How can I solve this problem?
Note: The technical assistance of Apple changed the HD, according to recall made by Apple through the site. The HD is new.
    Thank you very much!

Anybody? I'm buying a new network card simply but I'm not sure that it is the network card that is causing the network problems I'm experiencing.
