Modem Randomly Resets Itself

Recently, I bought a Cisco DPC 3008 modem and an Engenius ESR350H router. The internet worked fine for a while, but then weird things started happening. The modem continuously reset itself for no apparent reason. We called a technician from the ISP and he reccomended that we upgrade our internet, since he believed it was resetting because we were exceeding our bandwith. Which was quite believable at the time since we only had 2mbps.
However, even after we upgraded to 15mbps the problem persists. I've checked the bandwith and we never come close to exceeding 15 mbps. Yet the modem continously resets itself. In particular when I try to fix it automatically through Windows when the internet goes down it says that "The broadband modem is having connectivity issues." and reccomends that I reset the modem. Even when there is minimal strain on the network the modem resets itself randomly, any suggestions for solutions to my problem?
Thanks!

  • IPod Randomly Reset Itself, Now Apps Are Not Working!(4th gen)

So, I was just browsing websites in Safari when this happened. I'm pretty sure I got linked to Tumblr and then my iPod decided to reset itself. After that, many apps refused to work, including Safari. Puffin Web Browser still worked, but it said that I was located in the United Arab Emirates, when I'm in the United States. Many YouTube videos refuse to work now also. I honestly have no idea what happened, and any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Modem reboots/resets itself after 5-10 min movie stream

I have an Apple TV 2 and a 2Wire 2701HG-T Gateway. The problem is like this:
    1. I start to stream an HD movie (2 to 4 GBs) from my PC (Windows 7) to ATV2
    2. After 5-10 min my router/modem reboots itself and all devices lose connection to internet
    3. When my router/modem is back up (after 2-3 min) all devices regain connection to internet
    4. I start the movie where I left it and it happens again after a random amount of time. (Sometimes it doesn't happen again and I can finish watching my movie)
    Importat notes:
    * My router/modem ONLY does this when I stream large HD movies from my PC, if my ATV2 is off and I'm downloading stuff, browsing, etc. It works like a charm, this just happens ONLY when I use my ATV2.
    * I don't lose connection with iTunes (Home Sharing). My problem completly shuts down my whole network and as soon as it is back up ATV2 finds iTunes with no problem and I can resume my movie. So it's not a Home Sharing/iTunes issue.
So that's it, any ideas what the problem might be?

Our Cisco Linksys WRT610N did this too. Every few days it would crash and reboot itself while we were watching Netflix on the AppleTV. I bought an AirPort Extreme a few days ago and it hasn't happened again yet. Too soon to know for sure but my hunch is it isn't going to crash like the Linksys did.
Sorry I don't have a solution for you. I think it boils down to most consumer routers being junk.

  • My motorola cable modem reset itself every 15 or 30 minutes

why does my motorola cable modem (sb6141) reset itself every 15 or 30 minutes everyday?

Start with the modem's signal stats. Perhaps they already are, or they are close to being out of spec and intermittently they go completely of spec. Try getting them here http://192.168.100.1
Please post the *Downstream Power Level*, the *Upstream Power Level*, and the *SNR* (Signal to Noise Ratio) numbers.

  • IPod and JVC Car Stereo random resetting problem

    Hey all,
I recently bought my first iPod (yay!), a 30gig 5th generation. I also had a JVC KD-PDR30 cd player installed in my car so that I could hook up the iPod to it and eliminate all the random cds cluttering up my vehicle. It works great -- most of the time... the last few days I've my iPod has been randomly resetting itself while connected to the car stereo -- it's connected through the dock port (not the headphone jack) and works 90% of the time. Even still, this is frustrating. I almost want to just connect it from the headphone jack to the aux in on the car stereo. Anyway, it only seems to do this while it is connected to the car stereo. I've never had a problem with the iPod resetting while using it outside of the car. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Apple community!!!
    Theo

I had the JVC radio with iPod connector which worked just fine for my old iPod. When I upgraded to the iTouch I had to put in a new JVC stereo. The old version does not work with the iTouch (the same issues prev. stated). The new stereo has an USB hookup on the front. It plays the iTouch, but occas. the song or book will skip. At first I thought it was when I turned corners, but realized it was just random. A bit annoying. I looked at other stereos, but I could not get the iTouch and Sirus in the same unit, except for the JVC. If you can live without your iTouch I would wait until JVC or Apple address this issue. I could not live without either (I hate commercials!), so I made the jump to the first generation. I know better.

  • Box just reset itself, now wont bring up guide, dvr, or info about shows

my hd dvr box just randomly reset itself for no reason, and now it only displays the channel, wont let me bring up a guide, dvr or information about the program, athe channel up and down work, however it wont bring up information about the channels at al, any help on this would be appreciated, i reset the box and router and nothing happened..... ive had nothing but problems with these CROOKS at verizon, cannot wait to leave them
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Your box is probably taking new code.  Leave it be for 15-20 min.  Each time you reset it, you re-start the code download - just making it take that much longer.

  • Help! 2nd gen. nano resets itself!

*please help me! i've had my ipod for three years, and whenever i try to play music, it will randomly reset itself. this has been happening increasingly more frequent, and i'm concerned that it's dying. any tips? thanks!*

You could try restoring your iPod but frankly, if it keeps on happening it's probably indicative of a more serious problem that may require service.

  • Random reset by Mini

I found a similar question archive, but I didn't feel it was really answered. When I'm selecting between items on the menu, my Mini will just randomly reset itself (apple logo). Possibly 2 or 3 times when I go from Music to Podcast, then for whatever reason, the next time it works. Anyone else experiencing this? Sorry to say it's been dropped a few times, is it a hard drive preparing to fail? Will also occasionally lock up bad, but eventually comes out of it.
thanks for any help. Im new here. The Mini has been pretty solid for a number of years of hard use.

  • Phone resetting itself

So for awhile now (since I bought it two weeks ago), my phone has been randomly resetting itself, sometimes even wiping the data from itself so that I have to connect it to the computer and restore it from a backup before I can even make a call with it. I checked it out and I guess that I need to get it exchanged, which I can do once I go back home over the Thanksgiving break as the closest apple store is two hours away.
This was just a minor annoyance, as I could still use the phone almost all of the time, however this evening it has started to reset itself over and over so that it won't even boot up all the way, it just flashes the Apple logo over and over.
Is there any way that I can manually shut it off so it will break this cycle? Going through the normal ways of doing this aren't working, and I was wondering if there was a hard reset for it, as it isn't even usable in this condition.
    Please help!

I took mine into an Apple Store just yesterday becuase of a similar issue. They reset it in the store. They suggested that I retore "As a new phone" in iTunes becuase the software issue was probably in my backup data too. It's basically like getting a new phone. When you sync your phone, you'll have to go through each tab in iTunes to add apps, music, etc back to your phone. If you have anything that you want to keep, save it somewhere else before you let them do it. My phone has been great since.

Nope, never jail broke it.  Just randomly started the other day.
Recovery Mode is your last resort per the instructions here.  Also, read this.
If still no joy, make an appointment with the resident "Genius" at the closest Apple Store.

My 5S just started doing this on Thursday: every fraction of a second or so it oscillates between connecting and disconnecting with the charger (USB or wall, doesn't matter). Since it's still under the limited warrantee, I took it to the local Mac dealer (I live in a small town w/out an Apple store) and they shipped it off. I'm waiting now for the replacement--telephonless, too!
What concerns me is that many people seem to be having this issue.
You were right to be suspicious of the Apple store employees. Once they replicated the behavior that you experienced, they should have immediatly offered to exchange your phone. Anything else, in my opinion, is unacceptable. As long as your phone is still doing it, I'd go back, ask for the manager and tell them to exchange your phone.

  • WRT54G resetting itself at random times

Hi my router resets itself at random times it could be after 2 mins from the first reset,10 mins after, a few seconds after or could go the whole day without resetting itself. i have the latest version 7 firmware. i seem to notice that sometimes when someone uses our other computer that accesses the internet through it wirelessly that it happens more often but i cant really confirm. Need help on this please it really is causing alot of problems.

In this case i think you need to Re-Flash the firmware on your Router. Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in serach tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop.
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • HT1688 My Iphone 4 randomly shuts itself off and will not turn back on unless I preform a hard reset.

I have an Iphone 4 that will randomly shut itself off and then not come back on unless I preform a hard reset.  Also, it sometimes freezes up and needs to be reset in order for the device to begin working properly.  I have tried to back up and restore using itunes on my computer but I still have the issue.  Can someone shed some light on this issue for me and let me know how to correct it?  Thank you.  Randy.

Try to set it up as new device, this time without using the latest backup. If this does not work, contact Apple to get it checked.

  • M Blackberry Resets Itself At Random Times

my blackberry just resets itself when i am texting its so annoying please tell me what to do its been happening for about 5 months as long as ive had it and im fed up so tell me what to do thnx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps there is out of free device memory.
    Check Options-Status.
The device has 2 types of memory. Internal memory and micro-sd card memory.
    Perhaps internal memory is full.
Transfer files/data to your micro-sd card and delete this data from the internal device memory to make it free.

  • Random Resetting

My Computer keeps on resetting itself randomly, its doe it 3 times today. It just goes off. I think it may be my modem (USB) but i'm not sure. When i disconnect my USB printer by putting the usb cable out of the socket (when computer on) you get the windows sound which tells you its dis-conected. That goes for the scanners (2 in total) and the compact flash reader.
But when i pull the modem USB out the computer resets itself. So the modem might be playing up and loasing its connection with the computer and reseting the comp. Is that a possiblility?

one other think i have had the following virus's will they have affected my computer.
    Virus type: Worm
    Destructive: Yes
    Aliases: W32/Klez-G, I-Worm.Klez.h, I-Worm.W32/Klez.gen@MM, W32.Klez.H@mm
    Pattern file needed: 265
    Scan engine needed: 5.200
    Overall risk rating:  Medium
    Reported infections:  Medium
    Damage Potential:  High
    Distribution Potential:  High
    Description:
This memory-resident variant of the WORM_KLEZ.A mass-mailing worm uses SMTP to propagate via email. Its email messages arrives with randomly selected subjects chosen from a list. It also spoofs its emails such that email messages from this worm appear to have been sent by certain email accounts, including accounts that are not infected.
Upon execution, it drops files and creates an entry in the AutoRun key of the system registry and then infects .EXE files. It encrypts (compresses) its target files and then modifies the file extension of these with a random name. It also sets the attributes of its encrypted files to Read-only, Hidden, System, and Archive. Thereafter, this worm copies itself to the original file name of the infected file.
This worm makes sure that its file size is the same as that of the infected file. To do this, it pads garbage data at the end of the infected file. It does not perform its antivirus retaliation routine on machines running Windows NT 4.0 or lower. Windows NT 4.0 or lower do not have system functions or the Application Program Interface (API) that this worm uses to kill antivirus-related processes.
