Modem Software 4.7 b50

When I try and install this, the system says I have a new version of Desktop Software, hence this cannot be applied. It does not say which version of Desktop it is compatible with.
Someone help.
I find the errors in Blackberry software mostly lack explanation.

Welcome to the BlackBerry Community Forum!!!
Pull out battery from your device and keep it away for 30sec. Then put them together. Hope the problem will be over.

  • Major modem software headaches

For some time now I have been having difficulties connecting online with the modem. Previous to the update to OSX 10.3.8 (I think) everything worked flawlessly. The problem always occurs after a restart or shutdown. This is what I now have to do to get a connection:
    1. Open Internet Connect (which has been configured to dial into my local ISP - nothing has changed there)
    2. Click on "Connect", then immediately select "Cancel"
    3. If all goes well the modem will disconnect correctly.
    4. Click on "Connect" and dialling begins - as it should.
    5. If I'm not quick enough with the "Cancel" button, it appears to go into a loop attempting to connect, without actually dialling.
    6. The whole machine locks up and the only solution I've found is to restart via the power button.
    7. Once I have made a successful internet connection, do not shut down or restart. Putting the eMac to sleep means it remembers the successful connection.
I have replaced the modem cable with a brand new one - it made no difference. I have uninstalled the networking software and made a fresh reinstall. None of this has helped and I'm just about to tear my increasingly greying hair out!
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

After further research on this topic, I discovered that the culprit appears to be Virex anti-virus software, as per the note on found on this link: http://www.carnationsoftware.com/carnation/Modem_Problems.html
I uninstalled Virex and problem solved!!
Ideally of course, we remember to disable any anti-virus software BEFORE installing other software......

  • FAX Modem software

Is there any other good FAX interface software besides FAXstf. I have been trying to get this program to work and have not had any luck. I found a patch for OS X 10.5.5, installed it and still no luck. SmithMicro says there have been a few reports and they are trying to find a fix. I sent them an error log file hoping it would help them.
I know I can just FAX from a document but it is nice to have an interface program. I am used to using WINFAX Pro on my PC.
    Rich Dunklee

My understanding of Imac's already loaded Print & Fax command is that you can only fax one document at a time, but you cannot send multiple documents together as one fax.
I'm aware that another post recommended Pagesender for IMac which I assume has this capacity (On my Windows PC I used WinFax to send multiple docs as one fax).
A tech person recommended the following as a way to avoid purchasing an additional program like Winfax:
    1. Convert documents (selected for faxing) to PDF;
    2. Set up automator to collate documents together
    3. Use Preview to fax.
As a new Imac user I'm not familiar with Preview or Automator. Can anyone definitively say if this is possible? Any guidance as to how to do this? Any other solutions to faxing multiple docs as one fax?

  • Since installing my broadband modem & software why can't I shut down?

I have just got broadband, via a voyager 105 modem, but since installing it I have to hold down the restart button to shut down, and I get an error message on switching my mac back on that "Mac OSx shut down unexpectedly". I've tried clicking on the disconnect icon prior to shutting down but still the same thing happens. What's going on & how can I fix it? HELP!
Mac mini G4   Mac OS X (10.4)   new switcher

If your using a BT voyager 105 this is a USB ADSL modem then you will experience difficulties. Unfortunately USB ADSL modems have never worked very well in OSX. USB ADSL modems require drivers to work on your mac. They have a history of being buggy and inefficient.
The only way to have a reliable ADSL experience is to replace your USB ADSL modem with an Ethernet ADSL modem/router.
An Ethernet ADSL modem does not require drivers and will work on any platform.

  • Have installed OSX Mavericks and Vodafone Mobile Broadband Modem no longer connects despite reloading its software. Now cannot reinstall OSX Mountain Lion

Upgraded to OSX Mavericks. Vodafone Mobile Broadband Modem no longer connects. Tried again after reinstalling latest Vodafone Modem software update for Mac OSX, but no use.

Could somebody give a feedback about the solution proposed by Bokir?
I am experiencing exactly the same problem after upgrading to Mavericks with the Huawei E220 modem.
The connection is established for a few seconds, but no data is transfered, and the connection is then closing automatically.
I left the modem plugged in and the Vodafone software set to Automatic, and after numerous attempts and 10 to 15 minutes, it appeared that the connection was finally established.
That is of course no way to work.
After running the VMB uninstaller, there are still a lot of stuff in library cache & preference folder that are pertaining to VMB and not removed.
It is also strange that after uninstalling and reinstalling the VMB software, I am not requested to enter my pin code to establish a connection.
It is obvious that there must be some other VMB files (probably corrupted) somewhere in the system that are not removed by the uninstaller.
I have another macbook pro running VMB without problem and I am really afraid to install Mavericks on this laptop because of this issue.
    Thanks again for any feedback.

  • Help - PowerBook 520c modem not recognised

I recently resurrected an old PowerBook 520c from my back shed. I was on the verge of binning it but tried installing some software for it. Could not find the original 7.6 disks it came with. But managed to find a Performa 7.5.1 CD which by SCSSI was able to connect it to my LC630.
To keep this post short the PowerBook boots up fine but I think i am missing something vital for it to "see" the modem. Just out of curiosity I tried dialling in to my ISP but no luckk. "Serial port is used by another application" or something along those lines.
I downloaded MacPPP on my current PowerBook G4 in the hope of "kick starting" the modem .
I vaguely using Config PPP in the old days. What do I need to tell the PowerBook there is a modem in there and that it isn'[t really a Performa. Do I need to download Global modem software. If so, any ideas where I may get it from.
    Thanks anyone.
    Cheers from Oz

JoeYou feel that i should get hold of the OS specific for the PowerBook, huh.Not quite. PBs 5x0 can run Systems/OSs from 7.1.1 to 8.1, but the latter requires the full complement of RAM (36MB) to run 8.0/8.1 elegantly. I don't know of a PB 5x0-specific CD, so your need is for a 'full install' set of floppies or a 'retail' CD. Just be prepared for the fact that the 7.5.3 download is 19 floppies. (Guess why CD-ROM was 'in' thereafter.) If you can attach a SCSI CD-ROM to your PB, using a CD (say one of OS 7.6.1, or 7.5.5, which do exist) will save your hair.
Unless your internal modem is far out, installation of a new OS will provide a new modem CCL (script) for whatever modem is in the PB. You need to know who the modem's maker is so that you can choose the relevant modem in Modem control panel.
The aforementioned AAUI port on the back is Apple's guess at the time, before there was an agreed ethernet port standard. The AAUI/RJ-45 adapter will bridge from the PB's AAUI port to a standard Cat5e ethernet patch (or a crossover) cable.
The way i have been getting CD roms thru to the PowerBook has been by SCSI the Performa with CD to the PowerBook. This sounds like SCSI disk mode, which, for all the reasons mentioned above, is NBG for the purpose of System/OS installation onto the PB.
For some reason the PowerBook won't SCSI with my external CD Rom which I used to use all the time in the mid 90s with my 475!Ah! That's because the PB is an older PowerBook. Very genteel. Very stylish. And utterly maddening. It has a compact HDI-30 SCSI port, not the DB-25 port used by desktops. It needs either a special HDI-30 (with only 29 pins and a light grey jacket) to CN-50 adapter, or a switchable 30/29-pin adapter and conventional peripheral CN-50/CN-50 cable, to connect successfully to the CD-ROM. Hold fast to the idea that it can be done (I use it often). There must also be a pass-through terminator between the CD-ROM and the PB. Fortunately, the CD-ROM, if it is one of Apple's, will supply termination power to the daisy-chain, and be terminated on the remote side.
The explanation takes longer than the setup does when you have the gear. There is more about this process in one of the previous posts if you need it.

  • Problems with Vodafone/Huawei E220 wireless usb Modem

    Hi there,
My faithful Powerbook is having issues with a company issued Vodafone Vodem (Huawei E220 wireless HSDPA 3G USB modem).
It worked well at first, but then after restarting, waking from sleep or rebooting from off, the Vodem would cease to connect to Vodafone, with the Vodafone Modem Software giving me a cryptic message "No modem or data card attached".
Yesterday, I tried reinstalling and uninstalling the software, and after several installation/uninstallations, it finally reconnected. It has since stopped working again since shutting down the Powerbook overnight. Reinstalling has not yet worked.
I read somewhere on the net that leaving the modem plugged in for a minute before attempting to connect might work - alas no such luck.
Has anyone else out there had problems with their Vodafone/Huawei E220 USB wireless modem, and how did you resolve the problem?
I have tried both the New Zealand 2.07 version, plus the European 2.08 version of the Vodafone connectivity software.
    I am running a Powerbook 15", 1.67ghz, MacOS 10.4.11, 512MB, no other peripherals connected.

No experience, but what happens if you log out then back in?
Does a New User have that problem?

    hi
I'm using a vodem on my Intel mac book and never even use the software vodafone provide as it is clunky, slow and unreliable.
i used it once to set up the connection and from then on have simply connected through system preferences:network: and connect the huawei modem from there. it even gives you the option of having an icon in your top tool bar.
    hope this helps

  • ZTE MF636 stick modem and Snow Leopard

    Hi All,
Does anybody knows if the ZTE MF636 stick modem will work on snow leopard (10.6.2)?
I still don't understand what has to be installed and how.
Is there a specific driver that has to be installed for SL? Is this how OS X recognize the stick as a modem?
Then there should be a "connection manager" or some sort of app to get connected to Movistar mobile Internet? Is this app mandatory or I can connect using network preferences for dialing?
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.
by the way my carrier is Movistar Argentina.
    best,
    i

Hi Imol, I have managed to install the modem and software on my macbook Air (Snow Leopard)
*>>>WARNING: This is going to break your Snow Leopard installation<<<*
After you install the modem software (located on the USB stick itself), the system will be VERY unstable.
Next step is to run your Snow Leopard install disk and go through the motions (45 minutes or so depending on your setup)*Please seek guidance if you are unfamilar on how to use the Snow Leopard Disk to repair your system.
Now here is what happens: When you install the software for the modem the installer puts all of the drivers into the folders they would have been in Leopard. When you run your Snow Leopard disk it moves all the relevant files/drivers into the locations required by Snow Leopard. I know this is a very unorthodox method but it works.
The connection manager software then works as it should. You can run the modem without the connection manager software, but everytime you remove and install the device you have to re-enter the dial-up connection (*99# - tells the modem to connect to your service) & none of the fine tuning (picture quality settings improves loading times no end) or telling the modem not to display the disk mount for the installation software. One Final thing with the conection manager you can send SMS texts across the cellphone network as it will be preconfigured for your service provider.
My Final words that I can offer is, 4G is here and Modems have already started to surface in the USA. You could contact Movistar find out the estimated time of arrival for these units in Argentina. The 4G service might be limited if at all but the modem will be able to connnect at the best speed available in your region and the sofware will be written for Snow Leopard.
    Hope this helps,
    Kind Regards,
    C.

  • Enabling dhcp on the openreach vdsl modem possible...

    good evening all!
just had my infinity installation done and its really great. if anyone has read my other post a week ago about my questions of using powerline adapter to connect the modem to the homehub, the answer is YES! Much to my delight (and that of the engineer who said he didnt think it would work) it does work . i have the modem connected to the master socket downstairs and then upstairs in the loft we have the homehub.
there is one problem. it appears that any other powerline adapter i connect (say for example to connect another pc) this doesnt work. i think this is because the openreach modem has dhcp disabled. does anyone know how to access the settings of the modem to see if we can change this or change the software back to the huwaei version (i assume the modem software is custom bt one).
    thanks for any tips/advice
but i think for other people who want to use powerlines then go ahead!! IT WORKS!

ok i think i've cracked it
what i have now done is run 2 powerline adaptors to the homehub as follows:
one adaptor connected to the ethernet WAN port (the red broadband port) which apparently is ONLY connected to the openreach modem
another adaptor connected to one of the 3 remaining REGULAR (non WAN) ports which then distributes the network connection as did my previous set up.
in conclusion, it appears that the WAN port was the source of the problem, not the modem. this red port must be specially configured to only accept communications from the openreach modem and nothing else.
the only downside is that i have 2 big powerline adaptors connected to the homehub which aesthetically isnt great. and i need to purchase some additional adaptors to re-connect my other 2 devices (given that i've now 'lost' a pair for teh purpose of connecting homehub to modem).
i think this should be made into a sticky thread as this is groundbreaking information! all the bt people (sales/technical) had no definitive answer for me and the engineer was just as impressed as i was. i am sure this will be valuable information for anyone else who has a setup similar to mine where you need to separate the router from the modem.
thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread!

  • Internal modem and solaris

    Hi,
can internal modems be run on solaris? Or solaris just hates to recognize them?

    Hello.
Most internal modems are so-called "winmodems".
This means that the modem is more or less a sound card; the actual data processing is done by special algorithms in the modem software.
The name "winmodems" come from the fact that the manufacturers normally only provide software for Windows. Sometimes they sell software for Linux (but this costs additional money).
Because the manufacturers do not provide software for Solaris you won't get the modem running.

  • IBook G4 Modem

    Hello
Is the iBook G4, year 2004 Modem Software brought up to date with the software updates. Is that a dumb question.
I am going to plug into dial up and was wondering if i should go with a external modem.
Or is the iBook G4 modem hardware capable of working with up to date software ?.
Either way would a person be better off with a external Modem ?.
    Thank you.

if the internal modem works, no reason to buy an external one. OS X & your programs will support the internal one above anyone else's. even apple's own usb modem for the intel macs is finda flaky.
besides, who still uses dialup willingly these days?

  • Missing options and functionality in my internal modem for faxing?

I think my internal modem software on my G4 with OS 10.3.9 isn't fully functional. I can send and receive faxes on my dedicated fax line just fine now, but I want to cancel that phone line and set the modem up to receive faxes on my regular house phone line -- that has an answering machine attached. So that means I need to be able to set it up to receive faxes manually somehow when I pick up the phone and hear a fax.
I picked this reply up from another forum:
Then, under "System Preferences", look for the "Print & Fax" panel, select the "Fax" panel, and setup with your personal settings. After that, click the button that says "Set Up Fax Modem..." which creates a Fax Queue (similar to a print queue). I like to have the "Show Fax status in menu bar" box checked also.
The thing is, I do NOT get the "Set Up Fax Modem" to make a Fax Queue or the "Show Fax Status in menu bar" when I'm in the "Print and Fax" panel. All I can do is check a box that says "receive faxes on this computer", add my telephone number, and choose whether I want the fax as a PDF or send an email, or which printer to print it to. That's it! I can't tell now when a fax is coming in or who is sending it or anything about the fax. I need more functionality, is there a utility I am missing??
    Thanks for any help! --Karen
