  • Broken Modem USB Modem

I'm thinking the modem is going out on my older PowerBook G4. I purchased an Apple USB modem as a replacement. In the list of modems available in System Prefs/Network/Modem, the external USB modem doesn't show up (at least that's what my mom says over the phone). Which modem description should I choose to bypass the internal modem in favor of the new Apple USB modem?
Also, under System Prefs/Network/Network Port Configurations it only has the option of 'Internal modem,' the USB one doesn't show up in that list, is that an issue?
    Thanks

Apple USB Modem: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What Macintosh computers are compatible with the Apple USB modem?
You can use an Apple USB modem with any Mac computer capable of running Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later. You MUST have Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later installed in order to use this modem. If you Macintosh is running an earlier version of Mac OS X 10.4, upgrade your computer's operating system using Apple Downloads or using Automatic Software Update.
Can I use the Apple USB modem if my Macintosh already has an internal modem?
Yes, but you can only use one modem at a time. Make sure you've selected External Modem in the Internet Connect application if you want to use your Apple USB modem instead of your computer's internal modem. The Apple USB modem's preferences can be seen in the Network pane of System Preferences. From the Show menu, select External Modem.

  • How can i get a usb cable on my I mac  GS

How can i get a usb cable on my i mac Gs i want to know how to do it
is there any directions to help me out. Thanx

Well, you posted this question in the iMac forum and since you do not have your system info listed in your signature, we all assumed that you were asking about an iMac - not an eMac. That's why out pics do not make any sense.
Yes, the eMac has USB ports also. They are the second, third, and fourth ports back from the front - the ones after the small circular headphone style jacks.

  • USB Mouse not work with Mac OS 10.6

I have a USB mouse can work with Mac OS 10.4 but cannot with Mac OS 10.6. Noticed the different is the USB mouse motion reporting is 12-bit instead of 8-bit. It can definitely work on Windows with standard USB HID driver. I wonder if the OS 10.6 is having a different USB HID driver specification which is not posted in USB-IF.

    Ask the Vendor.

When I attached my USB flashdrive to my new Mac Air no icon appears and the same when I attached my new superdrive.  I just finished downloading pictures off of my old Mac and that one worked as expected. The new computer doesn't show anything but when I pull the USB flashdrive out, a message prompts me with an improper eject notice. Any ideas on why no icon (a disc) appears and how can I get it to?

Open Finder preferences, click on the General icon in the toolbar. Check the boxes for what you want displayed on the Desktop. Click on the Sidebar icon in the toolbar and do the same for what you want displayed in the sidebar.

  • I need a wireless usb adaptor for a Power Mac G4... any suggestions? (needs to be compatible)

I need a wireless usb adaptor for a Power Mac G4... any suggestions? (needs to be compatible)

With Mac OS X 10.3 or higher, a number of USB Wi-Fi adapters would be possible to use. However, for an earlier operating system, a wireless Ethernet bridge (such as the examples below) can be a better (and sometimes the only) option. A wireless Ethernet bridge does not normally require special drivers, and can thus be used with almost any Ethernet-equipped computer.

  • What USB speakerphones do work with mac?

I would like to find a USB speakerphone to work with MAC (really for google's Gizmo5 and/or skype). Not sure where to post this, let me know.
All the high end (around $110) USP speakerphones say they are for Microsoft Office Communicator. So, I talked to Polycom about their cx100, and they said it does not work with Mac.
What USB speakerphones do work with mac? Any recommendations?
    thanks
    bob

The ClearOne Chat 50 works very well with mac (Gizmo5 and Skype). The box says Windows only, but if you read carefully there web site, they have mac installation software to download.

  • Will a USB SuperDrive work with my Mac Book Pro?

Will a USB Superdrive work with my mac booc pro?

    lorifromgermany,
if you have a non-Retina MacBook Pro, the following command could allow a USB SuperDrive to work with it.
Log in as an administrative user, open Terminal, run the following command within Terminal, close Terminal, and then restart your MacBook Pro:
    sudo nvram boot-args="mbasd=1"
(When it asks you for a password, enter the administrative user’s password.)
